Changing ipod over from Windows to Mac

I've been using my ipod with my PC for the last 2 years and I now want to change it over to my powerbook. I have all the music on an external drive and will only be selecting some of the music to go on the ipod as the collection is larger than the pod. I can't find option to only upload ticked songs to the ipod though.
Also I was wondering is anyone could tell me the best way to format the ipod over to mac. shall I just plug it in an the computer will do the rest or do I need to have my ipod serial code or is there anything else I should know?

If you connect your iPod to iTunes, right click on it, select options, and from there you should be able to select "only update checked songs".
You don't necessarily need to reformat your iPod since a Windows formatted iPod will work just fine on a Mac. (not the other way round though as a Mac formatted iPod cannot work on Windows)
If you want to reformat it, use the iPod updater which can be found in your utilities folder, run the program, connect the iPod and choose restore. This will reformat the iPod for Mac.

Restore the iPod in iTunes for Mac. Restoring will erase and reformat the iPod's hard drive, reload the software with the Mac version and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. Ipod Switch from Windows to Mac: Possible?

Hi, I'm new here. If this has been asked, I couldn't find it.
I just bought a Macbook Pro; first Apple computer I've owned.
My iTunes library is on my IBM. Is it possible to get my songs into my Apple and then reformat the iPod and reload them?

You can use your iPod which will work on your Mac, there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. I use Senuti but have a look at the others and go with whichever you prefer.

leave as is and add NTFS driver to write to the drive / migrate maybe / reading NTFS drives isn't always perfect, some times external drive case has trouble mounting or staying mounted and suffers slow copy speed after awhile or with large files which is why I suggest Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X.

Time changes when switching from Windows to Mac, vice versa

I am using Bootcamp to run Windows XP SP2 on my macbook. When ever I switch from one to the other (mac to windows, vice versa) my time will always be incorrect. I have to restart the computer everytime to switch, but when ever I just reset and load into the same OS as before, my time is fine. Anyone know what is wrong? It's really annoying to have to change the time or think its a certain time and it being wrong.

Everyone gets that problem. Evidently Windows and Mac use a different reference point for the time, I think one uses Greenwich and the other local. On the Mac side you can go to System Prefs->Date & Time, and see if checking the box to "Set date & time automatically" fixes the problem.

Changing Ipod connection fom Windows to Mac.

I am trying to change over my Ipod to update from my Mac instead of my PC.
Have downloaded the Ipod updater using software update my Mac so presumably it is the correct format (ie not Windows)
Followed the steps advised in previous related topics, ie run updater, plug in Ipod when prompted etc but I get a message that advises that the I have inserted a disk containg no volumes that MACOSX can read. There are 3 options in this window. Eject, Ignore or Initialize. I have tried all 3 options with no luck. When i click on ignore it goes back to the updater window. This shows the software version, the serial number but under Format- Unknown.
When I then click on restore it goes through the "motions" looking like it is restoring but then comes up with and error message saying there was an error formatting the Ipod.
If I choose Initilize the Disk Utility launches, sometimes showing the Ipod and other times not
Any help would be appreciated.

Try to connect your iPod with your Mac (put it in Disk Mode), open the disk utility, if you can see it there (please try few attempts) go to Tab "Partition" and click "Parition". Once it has been done, eject your iPod and do a Reset, then plug your iPod with your Mac and open the iPod updater and click Restore.

Hi all. Brand new mac just getting it setup, an Imac, love it so far. I have an old ipod mini I got a couple years ago, it was setup as a windows mini. Plugged it into my imac and it doesnt do anything. As well, I never used itunes software on my old PC, I was using some kind of software called anapod that allowed me to put music in the ipod mini. I've got like 1200 songs on the mini and want to get that into the mac, plus be able to use the mini with the mac now, the pc is hitting the trash when I get all my old files cleared out of it.

Hey, not a dumb ?, in fact a good ?......nope, I did not install any software at all, I just figured the imac would recognize it automatically.
We also got a brand new ipod nano, not the new video one, the older one, it was a back to school promo thing, anyways, I got that one all setup no problem, just plugged it in and was good to go.
So I have to install some software on the mac for the mini?
Been doing more reading, sounds like I might have to erase the memory of the mini somehow, not sure how?? But what about my 1200 songs on the PC, how do I get those over to the mac and into itunes?

I just bought a new MAC and have spent the last two days trying not to lose my songs on my IPOD as I move it to my new MAC. How can I do this? I know how to format it to MAC, but obviously will lose all my songs when I do so. Ideas?

You can only swap platforms for the latest version of Adobe products, which is currently CS6.

Change IPod Nano from PC to MAC

We have been connecting my daughter's Nano to Itunes via PC. Recently the PC stopped recognizing the IPod. We have also purchased a new MAC mini and I now want to connect her Nano to the mac.
The solution provide by support is to Restore the Nano, but now neither my PC or Mac recongnize the Nano.
Is there any way to Restore the nano without connecting to a computer?

Convert iPod from Windows to Mac

I've been using my iPod (30GB) with Windows and am just now switching everything to a new MacBook Pro. Do I need to do anything to switch my iPod from Windows to Mac, or does it just sync with the new Mac without my having to do anything?

Macs can read Windows formatting so your iPod should work Fine on your MacBook. However if you don't intend using the iPod on Windows again you should consider restoring it and formatting it on the Mac. If you keep it in Windows format you'll have to connect it back to a PC to make any firmware updates otherwise the formatting will be changed. One other thing, if you haven't transferred your music from the PC to the Mac you won't be able to sync the iPod if you do you'll lose what's on it. To be sure you don't accidentally erase the content you should set the iPod to manual update until your music is on the Mac.
If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting to your new computer and an empty iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7 A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac. Connect the iPod. Decline any offers from iTunes to sync it, if this is the first time the iPod has been connected to the Mac. When the iPod appears in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES, select it there. Over to the right, on the Summary tab, there is a Restore button. Click it. Follow the prompts.
Restore will erase the iPod and install the latest software, using default settings. If it is connected to a Mac when you do the Restore, it will use Mac formatting during the erase. That's basically the only difference. The software is the same, so it is not really "reprogrammed."

I had legaly bought Adobe Photoshop CS4 (11.0) DVS/A, PHSP, WIN, GEN, MUL,CZ/HU/PL/RO. Its be possible can I change license from Windows to Mac OS X. Because i was change Computers. Old windows computer was burn processor and I was bought Apple Macbook Pro. And i can now use that photoshop. I dont want use WMvare,Oracle virtual box or other.

It's no good arguing with us, we don't make the rules and don't work for Adobe.
In general when you change between Windows and Mac you should budget for re-buying all software, though you can be lucky with some.
