Changing IRQ assignment for Tecra 8100

I think there is an IRQ conflict on my Tecra 8100. I have a PCMCIA wi-fi card which uses IRQ11. This IRQ is also shared by the Yamaha sound device. And ALSO by the USB root hub :-(
I can't work out how to disable USB in the BIOS - I have set it to "DISABLED" but the USB root hub is still detected in Windows. I'm going to try updating the BIOS to see if I can resolve this.
I also can't work out how to disabled the on-board sound - is this possible?
I initially had the PCMCIA card in the PCI port 1 (which had cardbus controller IRQ of 11). I tried changing to the other PCI port (with IRQ 7) but the card still used IRQ 11 - now I have FIVE devices all sharing IRQ 11 !! USB, PCMCIA, sound, and 2 PCI cardbus controllers.
Any ideas on how I can get rid of the USB and/or change the IRQ of the sound device?!
Cheers,
Dan.

Hi Tom, and thanks for your response.
I thought maybe I had an IRQ conflict, but after doing a bit of googling I find that this is normal and Win2k assigns either IRQ 9 or IRQ 11 for most devices and that it's not possible to change them without reinstallation of the OS.
The problem I have is with my network card. I have a PCMCIA wi-fi card connected to my home wireless network. All PCs in the house are using the same brand of card (3 PCs using PCI US Robotics and laptop using PCMCIA US Robotics all connecting to a US Robotics wireless access point. The laptop connection is dropped every 5 mins and then reconnected.
In fact, the connection is dropped every five mins EXACTLY which is why I thought the problem was related to the laptop and not interference. Other PCs are not affected in the same way.
I have looked at power management settings, but can't find anything that could cause this. There are no specific settings for the NIC, and all other power options have ben set to "always on" (or the equivalent).
I upgraded to latest drivers from USR, but the problem persists. I also upgraded to service pack 4 of Win2k, but this didn't change anything.
Any ideas as to what could be causing this? It's not a major problem, but is very annoying - I keep seeing the connection becoming re-established and a pop-up information text every 5 mins - it is driving me crazy!
Cheers,
Dan.

  • How to change HR assignment for BP with employee role in CRM

    Hi,
we download employees from R3 HR into CRM. By mistake, some duplicates BP were created. we want to change the assignment with the BP employee in CRM and the employee in R3. In other word, to remove the personnel number ID stored in CRM and to add this personnel ID to others BP in CRM.
    For example:
In CRM,  BP 100 does not have a personnel number assigned to his employee role.
In CRM, BP 101 (duplicate of BP 100) is assigned to the personnel number 345 from the employee in R3.
We'd like to assign the personnel number 345 to BP 100 and remove the link with HR in BP 101.
is it possible?  where is this assignment stored - In R3&HR or in CRM?
can you guys share your experience on how to resolve this
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
We can assing the CC in two ways.
    1. is for position.
    2. or for a Org unit.
In your case if it is for Position. GOTO PP02 enter the details as
    Plan Version    HI
    Object Type     s
    Object ID       50018133
    Object abbr.
    Infotype        1001
    Subtype         A011
    Planning status 1
    Validity        06/23/2008  to     12/31/9999
    Data sample.
Then goto change and change the CC. this will also updates the IT0001.
If not, You can also change through Org unit.
Where goto PPos_old> select the org unit> then goto staff assignments> select the required position> and there is a option called goto from top menu> there you can check accoutn assignment>  there you will get diff screen to be displayed--> there select the position if you want to change and select the option maste cost center and change the CC by giving dates, this will also updates the IT0001.
    Reward me if hleps.
    Thanks,
    Vasu.

  • Replace power adapter for Tecra 8100

    Hi support,
I have Tecra 8100 where its original power adapter has died. I need to buy a new one, but I found that Toshiba has replaced the PA2444U adapter model with a new model. Which power adapter model that is now compatible with Tecra 8100?
Thanks. I really need an answer because I need to work with the laptop.

The Tecra 8100 will function with many adapters from Tecra 8000, 8200, 9000, 9100 and the M1, M2 range etc.
There are of course differences in the output current rating, but in practice it is still possible to use a higher output adapter without issue, provided the voltage is 15V DC.
For example, I am currently using a model PA2450U (15V, 3A) plugged into my Tecra 9100 port replicator and this works fine. The only potential down side is that it might take longer to charge the battery than it would with the correct model (which would be rated 4A).
This means you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a suitable substitute.

  • Kingston KTT-SO133/256 for Tecra 8100?

    Hello!
I wonder if Kingston KTT-SO133/256 works in Toshiba Tecra 8100 although these modules are p133 and Tecra 8100 specs says p100 mem should be used? As I have understood things this is backwards compatible with p100 mems. Is this correct?
    Thanks a lot!
    // Mats A

    Hi
Tecra 8100 should works with PC100 SDRAM memory modules.
    These Toshiba modules are compatible:
    PC100 256MB (PA3051U-1NME)
    PC100 128MB (PA3005U)
    PC100 64MB (PA3004U)
Kingston KTT-SO133 is a SO DIMM 144-PIN ? SDRAM module.
The PA3051U-1NME is also a SO DIMM 144-PIN ? SDRAM memory module.
So I assume you can use this Kingston memory module too.

  • Change account assignment for posting key-urgent

    Dear expert,
please advice, when running mb30, in accounting doc for material xxx we want to change account for posting key 91 with other account since the old one is blocked. How to change this account assignment then?
    Thank you

    Hi
I am not sure whether MB30 Tcode exist. anyways, if you are sure of the Movement type with which your document is getting posted, then you can get the details of the Transaction in the OMWN. In OMWN please select the Movement type and you will see all the Tr Keys.
Or you can get into OMWB and select Simulation. Give the material, plant and movemnet type and then select the account assignments you will have all the information.

Does the grfix card have a power supply, the 4 pin molex like for disks.
If the demo is meant for the fx5900, there may be a bit of non perfect reproduction, but an fx5700 should be able to handle the demo OK.
Are you using a sound card, or onboard sound. if a sound card like audigy, there may be a bit of conflict.
How is every thing else, is it only the demo that is sluggish?

  • Script for changing InCopy assignment locations globally

I have a book with multiple documents with hundreds of separate stories. I need a script to change the assignment locations globally within the ID document to a single folder. As it stands now, I can only change them one by one using their individual Assignment Options dialogue box in ID. Also, it would be nice to also be able to change the "Assigned to" field to a specific set of person(s).
Someone had written a script a while back for ID2 that did just this but I can't seem to locate it. Not sure it would work with CS3.
    Anyone have any ideas?

As Andbrowny asked, have you tried using OS X's Locations? See KB 106653, Using network locations in Mac OS X.
If that doesn't give you the power that you need, checkout Location X.

  • Tecra 8100 Drivers for Windows XP

I recently installed the XP on a separate partition. My Tecra 8100 originally has 98SE. Now I find that some drivers are not loading in XP....like for PCMCIA card ect. Can some one tell me where to get the same. In driver download list from Toshiba, I do not see the PCMCIA Card driver.
Also some thing very funny...My DVD ROM can not read the "coloured" DVDs/CDs. I mean the new blank discs are bright colourful like red/blue/black etc on the data side. My DVD ROM reads the white discs but not these coloured ones. Any one heard of this before ???

    Please, take a look at
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_home.jsp
Clicking on "Downloads" will take you to a screen where you can choose the Tecra 8100 and find OFFICIAL downloads for this model and Windows XP!!!

  • Tecra 8100 does not power up let alone boot

    Any help appreciated.
I have a Tecra 8100 laptop which has recently refused to power-up or boot. If I connect AC power the DC IN indicator shows steady green. I then press the power-on button and the laptop momentarily attempts to start and sometimes you briefly hear the CD drive whirl into life. But then the laptop shuts down (normally after less than 1 second from the power up) and the DC IN indicator flashes orange. If I disconnect and reconnect AC power the DC IN indicator resets to steady green.
I have tried changing the battery power pack and both memory SIMMS with known working replacements. I've also left the battery power back on charge for quite a while - all to no avail.
Appreciate any ideas you may have. I suspect it won't be worth sending back to the manufacturer for repair as the warranty has expired.
    Many Thanks,
    Liam.

  • Changing IRQ of CT4740 (SB16 PCI) in D

Hi, I'm running a DOS box and I had SB Li've! installed, which didnt worked that good, cause sound wasnt playing always the right notes, so I decided to take an older one, which should run under DOS!
So I got CT4740 but it aint working for me :/ I have the DOS Drivers, I have the right settings in SBPCI. INI, BLASTER! I read something about legacy stuff, that it might be using irq 5 (couldnt find anything like that in my bios), so I decided to change the IRQ from the SB6 to IRQ 7, but how is this possible? In Li've I started the programm in DOS and voila, but with SB6 i didnt get it, tried changing SBPCI, Blaster and even PCI Bridge IRQ, PCI Slots, no, its always showing IRQ 5! Any idea? Btw there are no jumpers or stuff on the card to force it that way to IRQ 7!

    Cheers,
    Dan.

  • Tecra 8100 CPU gets too hot

Well, some could remember my previous post about fan activation in my Tecra 8100.
This notebook came to me as a gift by a customer, because screen didn't work. After a bit of research, the problem was the internal cold cathode, that was broken. Once replaced: yup! a free notebook for me!! It was a Pentium III 650 Mobile, with 64MB of RAM and a 12GB hard disk. I replaced all those componentes (that are now for sale, btw) and it now has a Pentium III 850 Mobile, 512MB of RAM and a 40GB hard disk. Some one gave me a PCMCIA 11Mbps WiFi card, and now how it is working, with Windows XP Professional and updated Toshiba utilities and drivers downloaded from Toshiba USA.
What's the buzz? SpeedFan, Motherboard Monitor and other monitoring utilities reports temperatures of up to 72?ºC in the CPU. I opened the notebook and put thermal paste instead of the sticker the heatsink has. Temperature keeps high, and Toshiba Utilities even at "high performance cooling" settings doesn't make the fan cool the cpu...
I have not hangs at all, but notebook case and pcmcia cards get too hot even with the system working with no apps running. Lowering the CPU clock or ratio doesn't help at all.
I'm thinking of putting an extra fan somewhere to force air flow and that way cool the cpu, unless that...
...Toshiba could develop an utility that allows to directly control fan speed. I don't know if thermal management is hardware or software driven. If it's software driven, it should be easy to create a utility that access directly to fan and temperature registers. That would be MUCH better that simply let the computer decide when and how long to activate the fan.
I'm sure that Toshiba engineers are busy with more important things that will not allow them to create the utility for us, so...
...what to check or do to cool down the CPU to more appropiate values?
    Thanks all!

    Hi
Like in you previous posting described the Toshiba power saver controls the CPU and fan usage.

This software works great and if you use the notebook as prescribed, you shouldn't get any problems and overheating issues.
The problem is that you have changed all devices and parts on you notebook. The new parts are efficient but produce more warmness.
On the notebook you can cool the CPU with one little fan and if it doesn't last out, it's necessary to decrease the CPU performance.
This is a simple fact. All these functions can be set with power saver.
Furthermore it's very important that your cooling module is clear and no dust and debris handicap the fan working.
