Changing iTunes Podcast URL

When I initially created my podcast my show name was "Effortless Productivity". Since that time, I have changed my WebTV show name to the "Busyness TV Show". Is it possible to have my podcast URL change so that it doesn't mention Effortless Productivity any longer?

Thank you in advance for your reply.
Sincerely,
Brad

Was that you, Roger?
It's tempting to claim credit, but no - that part of the URL is irrelevant.

  • Posting My iTunes Podcast URL On My Website

Earlier today Wrongway Peachfuzz taught me how to locate the url needed to ping iTunes that I had a new photo, description and info update, and now I'm hoping one of you can teach me...
How to locate my iTunes podcast URL so I can post it on my website and drive my traffic to my iTunes page.
    Thank you,

    Here's info from the spec:
    Linking to Your Podcast
If your podcast is accepted, customers will be able to discover it in the iTunes Store via search or browse. But you can also create links directly to your podcasts and share those on your website or in email. There are two linking methods:
iTunes Store Link: The following link goes directly to your podcast page in iTunes, where users will have the opportunity to subscribe to the podcast. This link can be found for any podcast by control + clicking (or right clicking in Windows) the podcast’s art on its page in the iTunes Store: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=FEEDID
Note that a shorter but functionally identical link is also available: http://www.itunes.com/podcast?id=FEEDID
This is the preferred method among podcasters, because it results in an action (the user clicking on the Subscribe button in the iTunes Store) that is registered by iTS and will drive your podcast up the various automated charts.
Direct Subscribe Link: The following link automatically subscribes the user to the podcast in iTunes. Note that this method fails for Windows users who do not have iTunes installed, so it should be clearly noted that the link is intended for subscription with iTunes.
    itpc://FEEDURL
Also note that this method will not push your podcast up the various charts in the iTunes Store. It is a direct call to the user's iTunes client software and sends no information to the iTunes Store. If you want to increase the visibility of your podcast, we recommend that your web site and other marketing materials use the iTunes Store link described above.

  • Can't Change iTunes Podcast Category

I've done all the tags, but I can't get my podcast category to change from "visual arts" to just "arts"
    Here's the itunes link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/artist-alley/id659908652?mt=2
    Here's the RSS: http://feeds.feedburner.com/artistalleypod
Here's the feed that feedburner syndicates: http://merrillbarr.com/merrill/AA/feed/feed.xml

'Visual arts' is a sub-category of 'Arts'; your podcast shows as 'Arts' with 'Visual Arts' as a sub-category because you haven't specified one. (You have a second category of 'TV & Film' but this won't show).
Although Apple's Help page on podcasting shows an example of a single category, I've seen cases before where when a sub-category hasn't been specified the Store has chosen one, so it looks as if you aren't going to be able to have 'Arts' by itself. If 'Visual Arts' isn't what you want you can choose from the other sub-categories specified at the bottom of this page:

  • "They" changed the Podcast URL address. How 2 update the old address?

    New podcasts weren't downloading.
I thought it was for all my subscriptions, but it turned out to be just the one. (Or two).
It took a little while to notice, but it turned out the the podcast providers, a radio station had changed the URL address for the podcast. (Just one word changed).
*I could not figure out how to update the old podcast subsrciption to the new address.*
    *is it possible?*
Meanwhile; I subscribed again, which created a new entry under the same name as the old subscription but with the new address, and the podcast downloads for that subscription are running again.

  • Is it possible to change the URL of an iTunes Podcast page itself (NOT the Feed URL)?

My company has an usual question:
While keeping all the individual podcasts the same, and the subject matter of the whole podcast series the same, my company would like to change the URL that Apple iTunes has assigned us.  Is this possible, and how can it be done?
Again, I am talking about the URL that Apple iTunes has assigned us.  The one that begins:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/career-...
We are having a small change in marketing emphasis.  So my company wants to change one of the dashed English words in the URL, after:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/
These English words were based on the original title of our podcast.  The original title of our podcast has changed slightly, with no problem.  Now my company just wants to change the URL assigned to us by Apple.
Let me emphasize: There is no purpose of misdirection, evasion, or deceit here -- not in the slightest.  My company is simply taking a different marketing angle.  Our category is staying the same.  The podcasts themselves are staying the same.  My company would just like to update the URL assigned to us by Apple to reflect our new podcast series name.
    ALSO:
We are a category-leading, very popular podcast.  If we do change our iTunes podcast URL, we do not at all want to jeopardize our leading status in our podcast subject category.  We want all our download stats to move with us over to the new URL.  This is extremely important to us.
    AND FURTHER:
If we do change our iTunes podcast URL, we want all our listeners to automatically find us at the new URL.  We don't want any of them to lose their subscription because we changed our URL.
    So in summary:
    1. CAN we change our podcast URL (the one assigned to us by iTunes)?
    2. Can we change the URL, but still keep our category-leading position and stats, exaclty as they are now?  That is, will our old download stats move with us to the new URL, so we can retain our category-leading position?
    3. Will podcast listeners going to the old URL automatically be forwarded to the new URL?  Might any of our current listeners become unsubscribed as a result of the URL change?
I know this is an unusual, complicated, and multi-part question.  I am looking for definitive, authoritative answers to all these questions.
Thank you very much for your help!!
    David

You can omit the title altogether in the URL (together with the succeeding slash, of course). For example, my own podcast URL in the Store is
    https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-sound-of-78s/id166389425?mt=2
    but this works perfectly well:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/id166389425
Indeed you can even put your own title:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/any_old_title/id166389425
So it's as simple as that!

  • How long does itunes:new-feed-url take to completely change my podcast page?

I've used the itunes:new-feed-url to change my podcast page, but I'm curious how long it takes. I have a new episode up, but the podcast page located here doesn't show that third episode, even though the new feed as well as 301 redirect is in place.

The Store won't redirect to the new feed at http://www.tripodbroadcasting.com/givethatsomethought/feed/ until the next time it checks the old feed. You posted the latest episode only today: it usually takes 1-2 days for new episode to appear in the Store as it caches feeds and visits them in rotation to check for changes. When this happens it will transfer to the new feed. Subscribers are already redirected to the new feed and see the third episode.

  • Podcast is having issues since I changed the feed url

Ever since I changed the feed url for my podcast in itunes I have problems with the feed not working properly.
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=157571623
When I try to download random files or episodes in this podcast it wont download in itunes. I get an error code (-50) saying it could be a network problem. But if I go to the direct feed url which is this in safari browser. I can click on the mp3 link and it plays just fine. Then after doing that I can go back into itunes and click "get" on the exact same file that wasnt downloading earlier and now it downloads. Very odd. Once that is done all files in itunes download without any problems. I thought it was just something wrong with my itunes. But it only happens for my feed when I subscribe to it. I tried it on my windows system in itunes and having the exact same problem. I called a couple people up and its happeing with them in itunes also. When one of us accesses the feed by way other than itunes it will then work for awhile then go back to not working again. It started happening when I changed the url in itunes to have it point to the feedburner url. Im having the issue right now as a matter of fact. I cant even listen to the preview of each episode. Maybe someone can try the itunes feed and check it out for me. Any ideas?
Its frustrating. Im wondering if I need to just submit a new podcast to itunes.
PS: I posted this in itunes for windows, Im using both mac and windows. Its not specific to either OS.

Im pretty sure the problem has been resolve. We own both the .org and the .com extensions of our website. The primary being the .org and a redirect if a user goes to the .com address. I use feeder to create the podcast feeds and it has an autofill feature in it. Somewhere along the line on the enclosures I inputed the .com address instead of .org. Why the redirect works just fine in most feed readers. Apparently itunes doesnt support it. One of the users in the feedburner forum picked up on this. I corrected all the enclosure urls to .org as they should be and everything so far works fine.

  • ITunes podcast page not updating after changing feed

Several months ago I successfully published a podcast to the iTunes Store. The following is the location of my podcast:
    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=335499017
Now, I've changed the feed URL as well as some of the details in the feed file (.xml). But the itunes page shows the old info! I made th URL change per the Apple guidelines (using the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag). I placed the new-feed-url tag on the OLD file only. I hope that's the right way to do it! I also created a 301 rediriect FROM the old feed TO the new one.
Does it take TIME for the change to take effect in itunes?

The feed URL registered with iTunes is http://www.semantica-portuguese.com/podcast.xml
There is nothing at this address. It makes no difference what you do anywhere else, until there is a feed file at this URL with the redirect tag in it iTunes cannot take any action.
I've updated the URL in the old feed file
Are you saying that the old feed file is at yet another URL? If you originally had another URL, and you placed a redirect tag in that to http://www.semantica-portuguese.com/podcast.xml then iTunes has redirected, and making alterations to the original feed is not going to have any effect since iTunes is no longer looking at it.
The only way out of this is to place at copy of the feed with the redirect tag at
    http://www.semantica-portuguese.com/podcast.xml

  • How can I change/edit the title/name of my iTunes podcast?

I want to "add" more description to the "title" of my iTunes podcast.
Anyone know how to do this?
    -Mike

This depends on what method you are using to create your podcast. Basically, you just go to wherever you entered the title in the first place and change it, then republish the feed.
However there is an importante consideration - some podcast creation methods produce a feed with a title taken from the podcast title. If changing the title changes the feed filename, this will change the URL and the Store will lose contact with the feed and stop updating: so this is something you need to be aware of. If your feed is called something like rss.xml there isn't a problem.\\You canof courses update the 'itunes:summary' tag (in the top section of the feed) which populates the 'Description' in the Store page.
It will take the Store a couple of days or so to show changes.

  • Changing iTunes Store Podcast Picture

How do I change the logo for my iTunes podcast? Currently I have the default logo, but would like to replace it. Thanks!
    Mitch

Your podcast appears to consist of mixes of Michael Jackson and perhaps other records (I haven't examined the episodes in any detail), presumably mostly commercially issued tracks.
If you have not obtained either permission in writing from the copyright owners, or a podcasting licence from a recognized authority, then you are in breach of copyright and that would be sufficient reason for your podcast to be removed (they may only just have woken up to it). I have to say that when they reject a podcast for reasons of content they really ought to give an indication that this is why.
If you have in fact cleared the material for use in your podcast then you would have to make this clear to Apple.
If you are able to resubmit and get approval, and are able to retain the same feed URL, then your subscribers shouldn't be affected.

  • I can't delete an mp3 with it's 'media kind' changed to podcast on my Ipod touch since the Itunes 11.4 update

When I download long mp3 talk shows and place them on my Ipod touch I change their media kind to podcast to take advantage of the 2x speed and 30sec jump back. I have a smart playlist on my Ipod that shows all podcasts on the Ipod. Once I have listened to them I would normally attach my Ipod and highlight the file in the podcast smart playlist and then shift+del and the file is deleted from my Ipod.
Since the 11.4 update of Itunes there has been some alteration of this function. I can no longer shift+del the files from my Ipod. The ONLY way I can delete them is to change their 'media kind' back to mp3 and then shift+del them. This is a massive pain. Why must Itunes be messed up by every update.
A previous update rendered these mp3 media kind changed to podcast unplayable on your Ipod if you have 'skip when shuffling' checked...
I have an Ipod Touch 4th gen 32gb. I am running Itunes with windows XP.

    Have you tried:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Hi, is there any way to copy an podcast URL from the Podcast view in Itunes?

  • Changing iTunes U feed URL

    Hello,
we have to modify the the feed URL's for our existing collections on iTunes U Public Site.
Feeds are hosted by our server ( not Apple Server hosted feed).
What I'm thinking to do is to delete existing collections via Public Site Manager and then re-add the collection with the new feed URL.
Is this the correct way to modify the URL feed ?
    Any suggestion is welcome.
      Diego

I was faced with the same problem (see below why). Here is the best fix I could come up with:
    1) For each affected podcast, drag all 'old' episodes to the Desktop. If you want to keep the playcount and rating, note them down or best take a screenshot.
    2) Delete the podcast and all associated files from within iTunes.
    3) Subscribe to the podcast again via the publishers website or the iTunes podcast directory.
    4) Drag all audio files from the Desktop into onto the podcast window in iTunes. Manually set rating and playcount again.
Step 3 probably is not necessary but I could only test this with one podcast. Somewhere else in this forum, a Windows user noted that she or he was able to edit the URL of the podcast in a file found in C:\DOCUME~1\USER\LOCALS~1\TEMP\ circumventing the workaround described above.
This problem was affecting all my podcasts because of some stupid oversight by essentially Apple. I was using a wireless access point in a hotel, where you first always get redirected to the providers site and login from there. Pretty common. I, unwisely as it turned out, updated my podcasts there, which worked fine at that moment.
Being home again, all my podcast URLs started, as seen via right-click: Show Description, with http://www.arrowlink.com (...), the name of the access provider, I could even see the name of the hotel as part of the URL. Evidently, iTunes did not consider these URLs as valid.

  • Podcast URLs problem in iTunes 8.1

Upon upgrading to version 8.1 most of my podcasts work fine except for one in particular. It gives me the error message:
""http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/xml/730vodcastm4v.xml" does not seem to be a valid Podcast URL.
Please check that you have entered the correct URL and try again."
The xml file certainly does exist, and the podcast stopped updating since I upgraded to 8.1.
I suspect that the problem is probably from the period in the URL, particular the '/7.30/' bit. Removing that gives the general URL could not be found error.
Does anyone know anything about this error and if it is indeed the upgrade to version 8.1 that caused it?

I don't think it's the upgrade that has caused this. I'm not an expert, but the "_m4v" doesn't seem correct to me.
A *Podcast URL* is the address of the feed of the whole programme series, but the "_m4v" part in your URL appears to indicate an individual movie, which is why you get the message that it's not a valid Podcast URL. If I take out the "_m4v" and leave the rest as a URL, I get a different message, one that says "There was a problem downloading "http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/xml/730_vodcast.xml". That would suggest that I'm getting closer to the feed URL. I've tried several more combinations, but can't find the correct one.
I've tracked down the page with this Podcast URL on it, http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/vodcast.htm and the address you gave is the one they use on that page. But it's wrong! Believe it or not, someone at ABC has goofed - medium time.
To expand on the feed that I mentioned earlier; think of it as the "main menu" of the programme, which is updated by ABC with the new episodes. When iTunes checks for new episodes for all your subscriptions, it looks up the "main menu" which tells iTunes that there is a new episode that you do not have. Some "magic" is performed which then downloads the episode to your iTunes.
I suggest you contact the station and point out that even if they think the URL is correct, iTunes cannot find the feed, which indicates that they (ABC) need to fix it at their end.
Let us know how you get on.
    Phil

You don't do it on your iPad. You do it on iTunes on your computer. You might, I suppose, on you iPad, try using an app like Instacast or Downcast. They might also work.
