Changing itunes to manually sync to ipod
Am trying to save photos on ipod so that i can download them to my mac, but itunes keeps automatically starting up and syncing..... and wont let me press/change to 'manually' sync..so how do i change this and stop it from getting rid of all my photos on my ipod?
Connect it to your 1st computer.
Set it to Manually manage music.
Connect it to the 2nd computer.
Double click the iPod on the desktop.
Open the Photos folder and get the photos you want.

Thanks.So about the external hard drive... Did you actually lose stuff off the hard drive? Or, did you just corrupt the iTunes files and the media files are still on the external hard drive and you just need to rebuild or re-add the files back to your library?

How do you get voice memos from iphone onto itunes with MANUAL sync?
Ok, the iphone voice record function... I can't get the voice memos onto itunes or my computer. I don't use the autosync function, I like to manage my music and such manually.
I cannot find a way to manually access the voice memos on my iphone through itunes. Many of them are too large to email so I'm stuck.
The only option seems to be auto-sync, and if I do turn on the sync function at this point, itunes will completely erase my iphone and the voice memos I've recorded on it. Kind of defeats the purpose.
Any tips?
I've looked at a lot of posts and haven't found anything to help here. Just a bunch of posts complaining about how bad the voice recorder feature is integrated into the new iphone 3.0 software.

I have the same desire as OP, but yet I do not see my voice memos automatically syncing when I have manual sync selected. I also do not see a playlist folder or anything that indicates voice memos have transferred. Am I missing something? Is there no way to get voice memos onto the computer without having to autosync it?
If someone can provide more details on how to do this, that'd be great. But it seems at this point that I cannot get voice memos onto my computer through iTunes with manual sync on. -
I have an iPod Touch version iOS 4.2.1, 8 G capacity, and whenever iTunes tries to sync my iPod, I get an error message saying "Mobile Backup has encountered a problem and needs to close", and the sync fails. After adding CD's to Itunes won't sync to Ipod
AFter ripping several CD's to Itunes & trying to sync the Ipod Touch (3rd Gen). seems to go through the motions of syncing but the new CD's are not appearing on my iPod. Can anyone offer a solution please. Thanks Min
Start with some basic steps:
- Restart both your computer and iPod
- Try another usb cable
- Try another usb port in the computer
- Make sure iTunes is up to date
- Temporarily disable any security software and/or firewalls

I have an ipod classic 120 gb. I had it set up so that I manually sync and manage my music. Twice I have had my ipod plugged into my mac and it had erased everything on my ipod. All the music on my itunes was still in my library, but all the other music was lost. I understand that I need to go back to the other libraries I got that music from, but how do I make sure that my ipod doesn't keep syncing and erasing itself? Also, now every five minutes a message will pop up on my itunes saying that it cannot sync because of an unknown error and then it has the number 13014. I have no idea what that is about. Does anyone else go through this? How do I fix it?
Well the iPod is supposed to be synced from YOUR iTunes music library, if you used other means to put music on there then the iPod is going to sync to only what's on your itunes music library when you connect it.
You need to put the files into itunes.
Far as your other issues, sounds like the drive is dying.

Need to change auto to manual sync and not delete iPod...
I've inherited an issue that I need some advice on...
I've ended up with a 4G click wheel iPod and a windows laptop, currently set to auto-sync. Someone has deleted most of the music off the laptop. I can't change the connection settings to stop auto-syncing the iPod until I connect it - but won't that be too late? Will it just start to delete stuff of the iPod on its own?
Any thoughts - suggestions I'd be grateful for!You can copy the songs off the iPod to the laptop manually. Just stop the iPodService before connecting the iPod. The iPod will show up as a drive letter and iTunes will not auto start. Then copy the songs off to the hard drive. Only start iTunes after you have copied them over.
If iTunes starts to sync by mistake, there's an X icon in the top right area of the oval shaped status window in iTunes. The same place where it normally says Copying songs to iPod or what have you. Clicking that X makes it stop whatever it is currently displaying, including an iPod sync. -
Songs are not downloading from itunes software to my ipod classic. I have tried manually syncing, and they are all check marked. Really frustrated as I have spent way too many hours trying to fix this. Please help. Is it possible my libraries are messed up?
Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes has no affect on the media on the computer or the account it is linked to.
If the media was purchased under another iTunes account, then it is permanently tied to that account.
Using mulitple iDevices with one computer -
I installed the latest version of iTunes but when I went to sync my iPod I got error message -50 and my iPod would not sync. I tried re-installing the most recent version of iTunes but this made no difference. I then tried installing an old version of iTunes but it would not install. I am furious because I bought music via iTunes store and I cannot get it to load onto my iPod. Can anyone help? Or can anyone give me a direct email address for iTunes support? I have been going round and round on Apple's stupid website and cannot find any help or an email address.
Quit iTunes, reboot your PC, restart the iPad and then try again.
Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. -
DEP preventing Itunes from automatic sync with ipod
I can't find anything about this anywhere so you might be able to help me!
I changed the podcast automatic sync settings on my ipod and for some inexplicable reaon, the ipod (160gb classic) started sncing manually with itunes. (i'm pretty sure i didn't touch the manual tick box!)
Everytime I unclick the manual snyc button on the ipod page, itunes shuts down and i get a message saying that data execution protection has prevented changes. I have attempted to change the DEP setting for itunes, but I get a message saying that i'm not authorised/ not safe to do so. i am logged in as an administrator.
Anyone have any idea what to do next!?!I basically was unselecting "manually manage music and videos", ok-ed the standard do you really want to do that box and the itunes shut down.
Windows problems/solutions would then tell me about itunes not having enough DEP priviliges.
Unfortunately I'm not able to tell you what happens, as I have just tried it again to get the exact errors and it has worked beautifully!
no shutdowns, no problems. I haven't done anything differently.
Problem reports and solutions don't mention the DEP thing but say fault with stackhash_fd600.
Obviously posting on this forum in itself is enough to solve problems!
