Changing language of LabView controls?

I just need confirmation. If LabView controls, like a graph, have a context menu then this context menu will be first in the language of the LabView IDE it was used with. If I build an application, then the builder includes the LabView RTE. This will also be the same language version as the IDE.
Now , if I wanted to change the context menu language let's say to french, would it be sufficient for the user just to install a french version of the RTE? Is this correct?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

You could you Import/Export strings from the menu bar to import other language text to the control on the FP.
A programatic code for this is possible.

  • Changing language for Voice Control

I don't know what you guys think about it, but i like the new voice control feature very much.
One tiny thing though: i use it in French, so it is perfect when i want to call one of my friend or dial a number, because i'd rather say my french friends' names in french ; but it is horrible when i try to make my iphone play a song.
Indeed, 90% of my music is english/american, and it is impossible to figure out how to say aloud the (english) name of the songs with a french pronunciation.
I know we can switch language in the international settings, but then if i do so the problem is the same for my contacts...
what i would love from apple is the possibility to set a different language setting for each app (ipod / phone / ...). Even better, if i could just add an option on each song to tell if it is english / spanish / etc. (in itunes for example) it'd be just great. That way the voice control know how to read / search the songs correctly.
I'm sure I'm not the only one with that problem. Maybe someone knows that "there's an app for that". I doubt it though.

It can only recognize one language at a time. For how to change it, see p. 46 of the User Guide.

  • How to change the size of control´s prompt?

No matter the size of data to be displayed in the view suface prompt, the controls have the same size.
Does anyone here know how to change the size of control in surface prompt?

    HI,
In order to change the size of a radio button... one way you may consider is to Customise the Radio Button.
Place a Radio Button (RB) on the FP of a VI, Right-Click the RB > Advanced > Customise...
Click the Mode Button (most Left button) for Edit Mode
Right-click the radio button (the round image) now, you will see a list of actions i.e. Copy to clipboard, import picture ...You will see Four images under the 'Picture Item', those are the images that you will need to replace.
Prepare Four Images of the similar but larger expected size
*** Copy the 1st new image to clipboard. Back to the Picture Item and select 1st image. Then, select Import Picture (to replace the existing image)
Repeat *** for all four images.
Once done, change the mode back to original. Save the *.ctl
You are now ready to use the customised radio button!
Quick sample attached (sorry for the poor images created )

  • Changing colors of UI Controls

    Hello,
I am interested in changing the colors and controls of the LabView Simple Interface example supplied in TS 3.0. I am particularly interested in creating a colored "Start" pushbutton that woudl begin the execution of a loaded sequence (i.e.perform similar function as Entrypoint_2 button on the existing simple UI).
I've already read the Knowledge Base entry titled "Can I Change the Color of my TestStand 3.0 Operator Interface User Interface Controls", which appears to answer my question. HOWEVER, being a LabView newbie, I was wondering if someone could give me a more LabView specific explanation of exactly what I need to do, or better yet, a snippit from a VI on how this is done. (I have been able to make this change, using the above mentioned Knowledge Base entry, to a LabWindows/CVI GUI (I am much more experienced with CVI), however I have not been able to figure this out in LabView.)
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Thanx,
    Newbie

    Newbie,
I've attached a VI that has a button that has the same functionality of the Simple OI's button that says Single Pass. Basically, you want the event handler, in this case a case structure (although you could register an event on the button click and use an event structure), to handle the button click by loading the correct command and then executing. This VI waits for the Button to have the true value and then executes the Single Pass command. Hope this clears some things up for you on this process. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Have a great day.

  • Labview control caption passed as parameter name

    Hi,
Why is the Caption of a Labview control, when the control is assigned as a terminal on the VI connector, passed to Teststand as the parameter name ?
I would have expected the Label of the control to be the parameter name passed to Teststand.
In the past I've used the control's Caption to locally modify the front panel text, and the Label is used to represent the data's\variables name.
    regards,
    Gary.

    Hi Gary,
My name is Kevin and I am an Application Engineer at NIUK.
The original idea was to show the caption (if not empty) of a control instead of the label in case the user decides to localized the control by modifying the caption which we can dynamically change. The LV adapter stores both the caption and the label. The caption is only shown if it is not empty.
Changing the behavior to always show labels will not affect compatibility since we already store them. Most of the time, the label and the caption are the same and if they are not the same I don't see a problem with just showing the caption. I have never seen a VI that shows both the caption and the label at the same time and if the caption is different that is what it is shown instead of the label.
    kind Regards

    hi gilbok,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
According to Microsoft this changes can be made on a Windows 8 PC
    You can check/Follow this Article
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2607607
    Note:
Administrator rights are required to install a language pack.
If you install many additional language packs, the disk space and system performance are affected. In particular, disk space and system performance are affected during servicing operations, such as Service Pack installations. Therefore, we recommend that you only add a language pack to your computer if you will use the language pack.
Language packs also let multiple users who share a computer select distinct display languages. For example, one user can select to see the dialog boxes, menus, and other text in Japanese, whereas another user can select to see the same content in French.
    Hope this helps,

    Hello mozzi3,
You would need the Windows Vista Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) or at least the freely available Windows Vista Language Interface Pack (LIP) to do that:

  • PC reboots during Labview controlled data acquisition

    Hi,
I'm using LabView to control the acquisition of a large number of gamma spectra and whenever the system gets to the ~700th data acquisition the PC reboots itself. There is no sign that the Labview software has crashed, the PC just goes dead and reboots. This problem only happens when using LabView. After a data acquisition a data file is saved to the hard drive, the files are only 12KB in size and I have 1GB of RAM, so I don't think it's a memory problem.
    Would appreciate any help!
    Thanks

    hi there
Are there any entries in the system events list (assuming MS Win) or in some application logs?
You said "This problem only happens when using LabView". Does this mean you can acquire data without problems when using another language than LabVIEW? if possible I'd try to create a basic app in some other language to check if the problems depend on the hardware or on the application.
Can you provide some information about your platform and post some code (pls. don't forget required additional files lile driver DLLs etc.)
    Best regards

  • LabVIEW control which shows value in percentage

    Hello
I am want to know about LabVIEW control which shows the values in percentege. Actuly I am using wait(ms) function and as a input i m using control but the problem is that i want values in percentage..
    Thank You

Thank u once again for your reply
I m explaing my problem brifly. I am attached a screenshot of my blockdiagram.
In the diagram i used str_1 for turned on LED let say for 10 msec and in str_2 i am mesuring voltage at 5 msec. so when LED is on for 10msec then exectly at 5 msec i mesure voltage.
Now the problem is i want to change in str_2 for constant 5 msec to control(in percentage) in wait function.
If i give lets say 10 msec input to wait function in str_1 & in str_2  i give 70% then input of wait function is 7 msec
if i give 20 msec input to wait function in str_1 & in str_2 60% then input of wait function has to be 12 msec..
I try to explain my problem though i know its diffcult to understand for someone else.. Hoping for your reply

  • Need help reg labview control *.ctl

What are the uses of creating labview controls i.e. *.ctl and how to do  this?
    thanks in advance.

The simple answer as ssk pointed out is that it will save you lots of time using a custom control because when you need to modify it, you only need to change the master.
To create one, simpy select under the Files menu, New, and browse to the bottom to select Custom Control.  See attached image.
