Changing Language on Nokia 5310 XpressMusic

Hello all
I got a question i bought this phone in China and there only got as language Chinese and English and i cant write finnish word like Ä and Ö.I guess this question asked before but i didnt find any answer so i ask here my self >.
So is there any way to change my phone language to Finnish?

That is correct. Installation of software unrelated to the product code of your phone is something only a Nokia Care Point can do. The product code in your phone is that of the model distributed in China, and Finnish is not one of the languages normally supported by that product code.

i am using nokia 5310 Xpressmusic and my phone IMEI is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx that i got by using *#06# and using this IMEI i got the master code for my mobile is 4604172520 but while i try to restore factory setting this master code is not working please help me to retrieve my phone master code so that i can reset my phone.

The "master codes" are a myth, and don't work!
If you forgot your phone's security code, only a Nokia Care Point can reset the security code.

Headset to Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic

Hi,
I'm new here.
I have a bit of a problem I got a new headset to my nokia for Christmas present but I can't use it! It does not fit
It says it should fit my phone and the phones have the Nokia logo. ???
The model is Nokia Stereo Headset HS-47
I can put connect the headset to my phone only halfway but not completely and I don't dare to push in the fear of destroying my phone.
Is this headset the right one for my phone? anyone here who uses it?

My headphones do work!
I tested them this morning. It was just me who was afraid to push a little. Weird thing is though that with my other headphones (I got them when I bought the phone) just one of the earpluggs work. The left one. Not the right. It works fine on a cd-player though. So I will use them for that.
Now I have new headphones.
The adapter I have to use can be a problem but I hope not.
So for last. Anyone that has Nokia 5310 Xpressmusic phone, you can buy Nokia Headset HS-47

New Nokia 5310 XpressMusic Power Adapter "Hizzing"

My girl and I upgraded and got brand new Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phones today. I just noticed a slight "hizzing" sound coming from the power adapters when the phones aren't plugged in for charging.
When you do charge the phones, the "hizzing" sound almost goes away. I thought it was just her phone, but I noticed the same problem on my phone adapter
Anyone else experienced or noticed this? Is this a known defect? I just hope this isn't like the batteries that had the overheat problem and dell had to do a massive recall. Mainly I just don't want to come home and find my house burned down.

What you're hearing is normal for a switch-mode power supply not under load. It's nothing to worry about. This said, you should remove the chargers from the wall socket when they're not in use anyway in order not to waste energy and not to wear them out prematurely.

Nokia 5310 (XpressMusic): PDF reader????

Search online for an hour - nothing.
Simple question: "Where can I find a free download of Adobe Acrobat Reader for the Nokia 5310?"
The question might be "Does this model's Symbian OS s60 not support any Acrobat Reader?"

So - PDF are NOT SUPPORTED, correct? Or is there some software (free, preferably) to download for a Reader of PDFs???

Answer my own question:
1) Not all Symbian OS s60 support Acrobat Reader.
2) Despite misinformation (online & from salespeople) Nokia 5310 is an "s40" NOT an "s60" phone.
3) The 5310 is just a music phone with a camera. That's really it.

Screen freeze on nokia 5310 xpressmusic

i recently bought a nokia 5310 xpress music phone and when i turn it on it says "unable to switch on push to talk" then it allows me to view menu for a while then it freezes.. I've taken it to the phone shop to get it sorted but apparently it will cost £47 to fix.. anone any suggestions????????

do you not have warranty anymore on this phone? if you are in Europe the warranty from nokia is for EU at least and UK 2 yrs i belive. if you are out of the warranty period you may have to pay for the repair. before you do that is your phone udpaded with the latest firmware? if it is not then i suggest you update via NSU (nokia software updater) you can download it from nokia site. and try to see if there is an update for your phone.

Nokia 5310 XpressMusic won't read MP3 tags

I got the 5310 for Christmas of 2008. For a long time it was reading MP3 tags just fine (up until maybe three or four months ago). But, now, it seems that most of my MP3s I transfer, it won't read the tags on it. Usually if the album art is embedded to the MP3 it'll still read that, but it won't read song title, artist, album, track number, etc. However, this doesn't affect ALL of the MP3s. Maybe 15-20% of my MP3s are still read, even though they're tagged with the same program at the same time (I've tried tagging with both foobar2000 and iTunes and had the same result as far as what the phone will read). I don't know why it does this; I can open files directly off of my phone to foobar2000 and iTunes and both programs read every tag on every MP3 fine.
Does anyone have suggestions for what to try to fix this? Maybe a different tagging program or something to do to the phone to get it to read the tags. It gets really annoying not having the option to sort by artist or album.

The music player reads ID3v2 tags and NOT ID3v1. Make sure that you have them in place. Some PC applications show and modify only ID3v1 tags. I don't use either of the apps that you mentioned, so, can't tell you if they are doing it. What I would suggest is to check the ID3v2 tags using Winamp/jetAudio (in windoze) or BMP/mplayer/amarok (in linux), and if necessary, update it and then transfer back to your phone.

Reinstall Nokia 5310 XpressMusic Firmware?

Yeahh.... what the title says. I want to re-install the latest firmware, or better yet, downgrade it. Latest NSU doesn't let me reinstall, it says I already have the newest. And I really can't go to a Nokia Care Center right now. What do I do?

Same problem for N79, its a server problem. Just wait few days and retry.

IMEI No not available in NOKIA 5310 XpressMusic

I couldn't locate the IMEI no.
No lable in the handset.
pressing *#06# also not display the IMEI No.

Possibly it could be a counterfeit. Although some counterfeits have their own clone IMEIs - mind you, 1 batch for about 100 units shares the same IMEI?

Nokia PC Suite - problem ejecting Nokia 5310 Xpres...

I just got myself a brand-new Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone. I like the phone and am very satisfied with it.
However I have a problem.
I have downloaded and installed the latest version of Nokia PC Suite from the website.
I then can connect (via the USB-cable) and work with PC Suite without a problem but when I want to disconnect the phone in the correct way and click the "Disconnect USB" button next to the Windows clock in the task-bar the warning message that can be seen in this link shows up after about 3-4 seconds:

I have checked the task-manager but can't see any Nokia program running anymore (unless I overlooked something).
So now my question is...
How do I fix this and is it harmful to my phone or pc if I keep pulling out the cable after this message appears (since I don't have much choice if I want to use the phone)?
Maybe, it's necessary to mention that I run XP SP3, completely updated on a brand-new pc with high-end grade hardware, fully protected with antivirus, firewall etc., no malware-detections at all and that I have so far not experienced any problems with neither pc nor phone meaning that whatever I did (transfers of files, uploads, sending sms etc.) worked until now to satisfaction.

You are saying that if I run PC Suite and disconnect the phone without transferring files in that moment or committing any other action that requires data-flow between the phone and the pc I'll be okay.
Is that correctly understood?
I don't know what you meant by "Nokia Mode" and don't understand the difference between "USB Transfer Mode" and "Mass Storage Mode". Is there any???
Finally, what is the story with the error-message that keeps coming every time I try to disconnect the phone in system tray via the icon? It shouldn't be there now should it???

5310 xPressMusic v 8.32: What is Max Mem Card supp...

Couple of questions on Nokia 5310 xPressmusic Firmware v 8.32.
1. How much max memory does this firmware support? Read somewhere that it actually supports upto 16GB. True? Anyone tried 16 Gigs and is successfull?
2. What is the latest Firmware? Is it still v. 8.32 or is there an upgrade? Its been more than 6 months that I have upgraded to this ver from the first 3.x. That solved loads of issues like freezing and restarts while playing MP3s. Any more upgrades?

About the firmware, v 9.42 is the latest and it is not available online. You have to take it to their usually-useless care centre (why????) to get it done.
This is what I received from Nokia yesterday:
"This e-mail is in reference to the software version of Nokia 5310 Xpress Music. You may kindly note the latest firmware version for Nokia 5310 Xpress Music is v. 9.42. You may kindly note that the online firmware upgrade facility is presently unavailable for Nokia 5310 Xpress Music."
Can you beat that? Now Nokia wants us to pay for a firmware upgrade if your phone is out of warranty! They won't allow us to do it online!

Nokia 5310: Wrong sync of repeating weekly appoint...

I am having problems with the sync of appointments between Outlook and my Nokia 5310 XpressMusic.
When creating an appointment with a weekly recurrence on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, this syncs as only recurring on Tuesdays on the other device.
It does not matter, whether I create the appointment in Outlook or on the phone. The recurrence pattern loses all but the first weekday during sync, keeping the other days only on the device the appointment was originally created on.
This looks like there is a misinterpretation of the recurrence pattern between phone and Outlook.
My previous phone, a Nokia 6300, did not have this problem. So it looks like a bug in the 5310, or in the PC Suite not correctly converting between phone and Outlook.
Does anybody know of this issue and has a solution?

I have been having an email "dialogue" with NOkia support for a few weeks. First they responded telling me the problem is due to my clocks were not synchronized between the phone and the PC. They were wrong because both were running auto-update or ntp. A week later they replied to my message saying my time zones must be off. Again, they were wrong. I verified both. Now I wait again. It seams as if the support of this software is not a priority.

Hi, some months ago I've broke my nokia 5310 xpressmusic phone, today I've bought a new exactly like the old one but one feature I liked on my old phone was that when I went into gallery and open a music it automatly goes to music player and I could move forward/backward and skip music's in the same folder... Now, to open the music player I need to go to media open it and chose the music's I want to hear... If someone know how to activate automatly music player please answer this topic

the error you describe usually relates to the advanced track information in the IDv3 fields. i would suggest that rather than using iTunes, to edit the song information using Windows Media Player. however, first make sure the Album name in windows explorer is matching first, then import these songs into Windows Media Player. after that, right click on each song and select Advanced Tag Editor. for Track Info make sure the Album field is the same for all songs, and also that Artist and Album Artist (in Artist Info) are the same.
this should solve your problem, providing you are using a windows machine of course, not sure about mac

Nokia 5310 language problem

Hi. I bought nokia 5310 around November 2008. I'm able to write chinese words during that time but after i patch the new firmware, i'm not able to write chinese word anymore. I'm only able to change the languages but not write in chinese words. Any help really appreciate.

SECURITY CODE CHANGED IN NOKIA 5300 XPRESSMUSIC

Hey everybody, this is my damn NOKIA 5300 XpressMusic and dont know who changed the security code.
Now I m getting 1dum tension, please help me.
None of the following gets me off the problem:
I need a security code
to switch off
to switch ON/to enter desktop
to connect to computer via PC
to use bluetooth
in fact without security I can't get anything.
moreover the IMIE number is damn confusing it goes under the battery.
Let me see if this is the real support from whole of the NOKIA company!

You should never post your IMEI number on the internet as criminals can use it for dodgy purposes.
The default security code is 12345, if this has been changed and you have forgotten the code then you will need to visit a nokia care point/service centre.
They will be able to reset the code but you will lose all stored data. They will need to see proof of purchase before performing this procedure to ensure that you are it's rightful owner.
It is not possible to reset it yourself.
