Changing Last Name on Mail accounts

Recently remarried, and trying to change last name on Mail accounts.  I have changed them in Contacts, however seem to have problems in sending mail.
Anyone have an idea of where I need to make all the changes?

Mail apparently can do this, but doesn’t provide support for it in the user interface:
Add unique names to .Mac email aliases
Add unique names to .Mac aliases via AppleScript
I believe the AppleScript in the second article is for .Mac accounts only. The first article was initially also meant for .Mac accounts only, but I believe that a similar procedure can be used with other account types as well — read the comments for additional info on this.
What I’d probably do is leave the Full Name field blank and the email address alone, though...

  • How can I change my Primary E-mail account on Ipod touch?

I only have 2 emails both have the same name only the end is different 1) @aol.com 2) @icloud.com.  My primary e-mail address was always @aol.com and now it is on @icloud.com.  I just need to know how I can change my Primary E-Mail  account to be AOL again.  Does it have anything to do with when I charge my ipod?  Sometime I charge it to My Computer and other times to icloud.  Also does the e-mail account have anything to do with the Primary Server for my mail.

  • Is it possible to change the name on an account?

    Hi,
I live in a shared house and one of my housemates has just moved out. He was in charge of the Internet bill. This was with Virgin and they would not let him transfer the account over to somebody else. We are now looking for a new provider but we need this option. Many of us don't know how long we will be staying.
So, is it possible to take out a BT contract with the option to change the account holder?
    Thanks.

    Hi tdm,
Thats not possible if you take out a contract and someone else wants to takeover that line or be named as the account holder the service would have to be ceased in you name and the person wanting to be named/incharge would have to apply as a new customer, the only way to change a name on the account is bereavement this has to be immediate family.

  • How do I change my primary E-mail account?

I've currently got two e-mail accounts set up in Mail, one a .mac account and one my Comcast.net account. I rarely ever use my .mac account, always using my Comcast account. When I send a new e-mail from Mail, it goes out via my Comcast account. But for some reason, anytime I click on an e-mail link in Firefox or Safari, it sends the e-mail from my .mac account, which is not what I want. I don't want to delete my .mac account from Mail to make this work. There must be a way to tell Mail which account is my primary account. I've searched Help and I've searched this forum and have been unsuccessful in finding any help at all. I'm sure it's a simple thing but I can't figure this out. If it helps at all I'm new Apple user, just recently converted from Windows. So it's possible I'm looking in the wrong place.

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
I assume that you are talking about web browser links that create a new message in mail? If you are talking about web mail it will always go from the web mail service you are logged into
In mail when you have a new message you can select the account it is sent from in the drop down list just below the subject line
I believe that the next new mail defaults to the last account you used so if you just used .mac mail with mail the next time you send I believe it will start there until you change it
If mail is not running it will use the top account in the list - to change that open your mail preferences ==> accounts and drag your comcast account to the top of the list if it is not there

  • Cannot enter my full name in mail account preferences

iMac 24-inch, Early 2008, OS 10.8.2:  When I send email from my icloud email account, some recipients report seeing only my email address in the from line at the top of the email without my real name.  I opened Mail preferences and the Full Name: box is greyed out and reads "Your Name" instead of my name under the accounts tab.  How can I unlock and access this box to enter my real name?  BTW, I went to the iCloud website, logged in, and went to the account prefs under the web based iCloud mail prefs.  This box was editable and already showed my name.  I deleted it and re-entered my full name.  When i returned to the Mail app on my iMac, the Your Name box still reads "Full Name" in grey, un-editable.  I tried a test email sent to my husband's email and it still reads just my email address without my name at the top.  How do I fix this?  Thank you in advance.

Go into your icloud preferences and uncheck mail.  Give it a minute or so, then check it out.
I tested that after changing my full name on the website.  The name updated in my mail.app, but not until I unchecked/rechecked.

  • Changed password for e-mail account and cannot send e-mails

Went into setting, "mail, contacts and calendar" under my e-mail account I changed the password, but now I can't send any e-mails out.  Checked with comcast and all the settings are correct.  What is the problem?

If your email provider requires the password for sending emails then as well as changing it on the account when you tap on it in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, you may also need to tap on SMTP (under the 'outgoing mail server' heading) on that popup screen and then tap on the outgoing server name on the next screen and update the password there as well.

  • Personal name on mail account

I have recently put my business email through the mail account on my mac, however now the emails are going out with my name on them, beside the email address, I would prefer just the company name is there any way to change this?
    Thanks in advance.

It should be using the "Full Name" field in the Mail Account setup. Set that to your Company name.

  • Is it possible to change the name in my account?

currently my dad is listed but i want to have my name in it.
Cant find a option to change it anywhere
    greets

Sorry, I'm not sure what "account" you're referring to. If you mean the Apple ID you're using, it would be better to set up a new one rather than trying to change the name on your father's Apple ID. If you really need to, though, go here:
    https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
If that's not the account you're referring to, please clarify what it is you wish to change.
    Regards.

  • How to change the order of Mail accounts

Is there a way I can adjust the order of how my Mail accounts appear? I have six accounts on my iPhone, but generally only receive e-mails to two of them, so I'd like to put them at the top of the list.
    Thanks!

    You're welcome.
I'm not sure how the account order is established on the iPhone when transferring email accounts from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process. I access only two email accounts and I manually created both on my iPhone.
You can delete all accounts on your iPhone, and then select only one email account at a time under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync - selecting the account you want listed first. Follow this by deselecting the account under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences and then select the next account that you want listed on your iPhone followed by a sync.
Repeat the same for the 3rd account, 4th account, and so forth.
Another thing to check, what order are the email accounts listed under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences? Does the order match the order of the accounts on your iPhone? If so, can you change the order of the accounts under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences? If yes, you can delete all email accounts from your iPhone followed by transferring all 6 email accounts at one via the iTunes sync process.

  • Changing short name- misplaced original account information

I was attempting to change the short name on my user account with two methods- the terminal command (didn't prompt me for my password after changing the name) and the root account option. When I try to log back into my old user account it takes it back to the bare start up-when you start a new account I assume because I didn't reset the home folder. I seem to have misplaced the file that kept all the orgininal account information. I can search in the root account to access all the files, but I don't know how I can set up my original user account. In essence I want to compile all of the searchable data that I have in the root account back into one file that will allow me to set up my original account, but with a new user name.

  • User Name - Changing last name

We have a user who recently was married. We want to update her last name to reflect the change. Does SoD have a process to update any/all entries that contain her old name with her new name, or do we have to do a mass update?

    David,
If you change a username you need to notify Customer Care to update her training information as her training login will stop working.
    cheers

  • Changing first and last name on apple account

    Hi guys,
My dad had an Apple account that we all used to make iTunes purchases etc. He no longer wants it and just gave it to me since it has all our purchase history on it, etc.
I've managed to change the email address, shipping address, etc. When I sign into the "My Info" (https://myinfo.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyInfo) page on Apple it even says Welcome [My Name].
However, when I just tried registering for the iPhone SDK, I noticed the account name was still under my dad's name.
    Question:
    1. Is there anyway for me to change this to mine.?
    2. If there is no way to do it online, do you think they could do it over the phone?
    Any advice here? Thanks.

  • Can't Change Port number on Mail account settings

I am trying to use Mac mail to read my .mac email. I can recieve messages but can't send them.
I have isolated the problem to the port number which is 993. The problem is I can't change it to 25 or to 587 which is what .mac recommends. If I uncheck "use ssl" the port number changes to 143 but I still can't change it.
I have tried every possible way to change the port but it will not allow me.

    Dave,
You are trying to change the wrong port setting. Those you are describing are related to Incoming Servers and are changed in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced -- those are NOT what you want.
Instead click open Mail Preferences/Accounts/Account Information, and click on the arrows beside the name of the Outgoing Server, then choose Edit Server List, and then select the Advanced tab and the smtp.mac.com there. You can then change to Port 587, for example.
