Changing latency allocation for soundcard

Hello,
due to the well known malfunction of sizzling/popping/hissing of my X-Fi Extreme Music I was regularly allocating more latency to the soundcard.
If, eg, every hardware component has 32ms latency allocated, I would simply raise that value for my soundcard to 64ms: Problem solved.
The application I was using for this tweak was PCI Latency Tool 3.. I will omit here the details of how to make the tweak work with restricti've environment such as Win 7, but believe me, it did work though.
This has worked for my both on Win XP and Win 7 64bit until the Service Pack had been rolled out for Win 7. Since then I cannot use PCI Latency Tool nor did i find any alternative piece of software.
Does anybody have any suggestions how to play with the latency allocation under Win 7?

Hey John,
Go to iPod Preferences, and you will find a slider bar. As you move this to allow more storage, it will tell you how many songs can be stored, and will remove songs as neccesary.

I have a wireless data collection device my company makes that I am trying to use to test one of our other wireless products. The device sends serial data to a PC through a USB port. I have written an automated LabVIEW program to test all the functions of my new product. However, after pulling in data, I have realized that the serial data comes in very fast and requires that I change the default Windows latency time for the COM port from 16ms to 2ms to not miss anything. This is easy enough for me to do locally on my machine, but much harder for me to spec for an offsite CM.
Is there a way to have my LabVIEW program change the latency time of the Windows COM port from 16ms to 2ms automatically?

Ah, you can't actually change it, at least not through the front end. From the Oracle® Enterprise Manager Oracle Database and Database-Related Metric Reference Manual

This metric calculates the space allocated for each tablespace. It is not intended to generate alerts. Rather it should be used in conjunction with the Allocated Space Used (MB) metric to produce an historical view of the amount of space being used and unused by each tablespace.
For all target versions, the collection frequency for this metric is every 7 hours.
The metric is only designed for historical information, looks a typo on the 7 hours, mine is also set to 7 days.

Authorization/Allocations for XMLForms

Where can i allocate km and security zones?
The standard roles were copied and limited on necessary functions. In this framework however the call went from XML form lost. I could imagine that the problem lies in the Security Zones or km authorizations. With copy of the roles the allocations to km and security zones are not taken over. I could find no references to necessary authorization/allocations for XMLForms.

Indeed the allocation function is and will not be supported in integrated planning if you want it I think you should install SEM on top of it.
But using the standard allocation function is not really recommended because the set up is done within BPS or IP modeler and if the allocation run changes a lot the user should have authorization to this and that is not recommended. A standard allocation function can be easily recreated using an input screen with all kind of allocation keys and a formula function(FOX). You have also more possibilities then in the standard function.
So create an input screen for entering stat key figures or % for sender and receiver. And create within FOX a function that uses these parameters to run the allocation function.

it says "The Bytes Per Packet value represents the number of bytes that are transmitted at consistent 125us intervals on the FireWire bus during image acquisition" and the reciprocal of the 125us value would seem to be the source of a value of 8000 in a subsequent formula used to calculate the frames per second.
Is this 125us value independent from the firewire bus speed or a function of it?
If it is a function of bus speed, how does it vary with speed?
(Is the 125us value for 400Mbps and 250us for 200Mbps?)

Thank you very much for getting in touch with us. Although the Firewire standard itself is not technically supported by National Instruments, I will do my best to assist you. I am currently referencing the IEEE 1394 documentation. From what I'm reading, I do not believe the 125 microsecond value changes. I have copied and pasted the paragraph of interest under Bus Arbitration from a document that I referenced:
The arbitration mechanism gets more complicated when isochronous devices are connected on the bus, because those devices have already been guaranteed bandwidth. Each arbitration round is approximately 125μs long, so bandwidth is allocated as a portion of the 125μs interval. The root node broadcasts (sends a message to node 63, the broadcast address) a cycle start packet, which begins the arbitration round. All interested nodes send an arbitration request as before, and the winning node is still the node closest to the root. After .04μs of bus idle time, the remaining nodes arbitrate for control of the bus. Once each isochronous node has completed its transaction the time remaining in the 125μs interval is used for asynchronous transactions. Up to 80% of the bus bandwidth may be allocated to isochronous transactions and the remaining 20% is left available for asynchronous transactions.

I, unfortunately, cannot claim to be an expert on the IEEE 1394 standard but from what I've researched, the 125 microsecond time allocation is standard and bandwidth is then allocated accordingly. I may recommend consulting IEEE 1394 Trade Association (http://www.1394ta.org/about/Contact.html) for more in depth information. LE 8 changes latency arbitrary

I wonder why LE 8 changes latency, when I change settings on guitar amp pro. For example, when I change amp model or switch on the reverb, I suddenly have unplayable latency of, let´s say, 1000 samples or more. That means I have to go to audioprefs and change buffer from 128 to 256 samples, for example. Then it works again. But this makes Logic unusable while I cannot make changes when playing live. Anyone got the same problem?

Hi, thanks for reply, but you did not understand what I mean. The reason for the changing latency is not the more or less power required but the fact of making a change in settings. The program then makes the mistake to choose a latency of about 1000 samples or more on it´s own decision. (sorry I´m german, my english is a little clumsy.) No other sequencer does this. Anyway I always test out the best compromise between playability and functionality. cheers, Martin

I have serveral EZ Zone PM controllers that have been having 485 read issues with. The latency time for these are recommended to be set to 1ms. Could someone point me to an article on how to change the latency settings. I assume it is done under the Windows device manager for comm/LPT.

How to change size memory for an application under Classic ?

When I ask informations on my OS 9 application under OS X.4.4, I can no more change size memory ! I can no more use my application with Classic... ???

ROYCH: This is partly guesswork, but I think it may explain why your problem occurs.
When OS X is controlling your computer (as it always does on a Mini), the file Type and Creator attributes that OS 9 uses to identify different kinds of files are not used. OS X ignores them in files that have them. Files that are only used by OS X don't have them at all. When you create a new application in Classic mode under OS X, those attributes may not be assigned to it, so the new application may not have any.
But if you copy the new application to a computer running OS 9, and those attributes are missing, the OS 9 computer will have no idea what sort of file it is. OS 9 won't even know it's an application. To prevent that, I'm guessing that OS X somehow builds clues into the file that enable OS 9 to identify it as an application, and to give it the Type attribute APPL. I believe any file in OS 9 that has that Type attribute will display the Memory menu item in its Get Info window — not only in OS 9, but in OS X. So after you copy your compiled application onto a computer running OS 9 and then back onto your Mini, it has the APPL attribute, and the Memory item is available in its Get Info box.
I have one application, File Buddy, that can (among many other abilities) display and edit the OS 9 Type and Creator attributes of any file while running in OS X. It can be used to assign specific Type and Creator attributes to a file that has none. You could use it to assign the appropriate Type and Creator attributes to your compiled applications while you are running OS X. After you do so, maybe they will display the Memory menu item in their OS X Get Info boxes.
If this works, File Buddy can apply the same changes in Type and Creator to a whole folder full of files at once. That would be an easy way for you to accomplish the same thing for several compiled applications instantly, without having to copy them to a computer running OS 9.
I don't create applications, so I can't test this procedure to see whether it works. I will be interested to hear what happens if you experiment with File Buddy.
But after saying all this, I really have no idea whether the message you're seeing about insufficient memory is meaningful or spurious. You may go through the whole rigmarole of changing the memory allocation for your compiled applications, only to find that doing so still doesn't enable you to open them. I'll be interested to hear whether that's true, too. Good luck.

i have changed parallelism to 5 and commit_serialization to FULL. but still error remains.
how to resolve the error?

You can tune your apply server by tracing on the apply process. To do this: identify the PID (Process ID)
APPLY SERVER:
select SID from V$STREAMS_APPLY_SERVER;
With above SIDs, query V$PROCESS to get the PIDs:
select a.pid, b.sid
from v$process a, v$session b
where a.addr=b.paddr and b.sid in(the list of sids from above);
With the PIDs found:

you may have to add some indexes on your tables . If possible, each table for which changes are applied by an apply process should have a primary key.

Trying to find lowest latency setting for FMS 3.0 live streaming app

Hi,
I work for a technology company in the agricultural industry,
and we recently bought Adobe FMS 3.0 for live streaming of an
online auction application. Initially the tests were ok, but the
stream latency is becoming a real issue. It starts at around 1s
delay, which is barely acceptable, but an hour into the sale it
stretches to 2-3s, and more. This is becoming a real deal breaker
for the Flash solution that looked very promising at the beginning.
We need to find the absolute lowest latency setting for the
live streaming application supplied with FMS3.0.
Low latency (1s max) and stable latency has highest priority,
more important than picture quality or uninterrupted streaming.
How can we achieve this? Are there any settings where I can
tweak the stream latency?
I am not a Flash expert, but I can find and modify the
configuration files on the FMS Windows 2003 server.
Any help would be immensely appreciated.

On server side:
FMS installs itself with default configurations optimized for
Max CPU efficiency. Reducing/shutting-off FMS publisher queues
using Application.xml config should help in removing the delay that
you experienced.

disables live publisher queues & aggregate messages ad
therefore "the delay". (the delay should be reduced to <100 ms

at all ! i.e. do not set any buffer on client side.; Flash player
(upto 10, the current version) would try its best to keep the
buffer around 0.1 seconds, which is the default value.

Sometimes , it is possible that a some fault at stream publisher
may make buffer at flash player grow.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you updated your Apple Id and password but now you are being prompted for the old information in iCloud. You are on the right track by changing the Apple ID back to the previous email address temporarily so that you can sign out. You should not need to verify the email address. After you edit the Apple ID back to the old email address and then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, edit the Apple ID back to the address you would currently like to use. There is no need to change the password again, only the email address, unless you prefer to update the password again.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support
Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.

Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.

How to change default thresholds for some metrics of all targets.

We have a lot of servers which have to work hard.
So, our OEM very often generates messages like these:
"EM Alert: Critical:dbsora90.tsb.kz - CPU Utilization is 99.95%, crossed warning (80) or critical (95) threshold."
"EM Alert: Critical:dbsora94.tsb.kz - Disk Device c8t60A9800043346C384C344A4A63516D6Ad0(ssd4) is 99.7% busy."
"EM Alert: Critical:dbsora94.tsb.kz - CPU Load (Run Queue Length averaged over 5 minutes) is 20.78, crossed warning (10) or critical (20) threshold."
I need to change default tresholds for mentioned metrics but I can't their defenition in SYSMAN.MGMT_*-tables or suitable settings in OEM GUI.
And I have no time to edit treshholds manually for each target. )

Modification of Metric Thresholds (as this is what you are referring to), should be done using the Metrics and Policy Settings link (to be found in the Target Home page).
Don't mess around with the SYSMAN tables!
Best thing to do here is to start using Monitoring Templates for this.
