Changing legacy iMac ID/password

I have asked this question before and have never received a solution.
I bought my late 2009 21.5 inch iMac in June 2010. I registered the computer with Apple with the now obsolete [email protected] email address and a password that I cannot remember.
My service provider has changed and I can operate everything other than my System Preferences iCloud Account which still carries legacy ID [email protected] id. All the ID and passwords applicable to the Mac Appstore and Itunes operate normally.
Because of the obsolete ID email address, Photostream will not work – iPhoto has a folder named Photostream with 96 photographs but these are never uploaded to iCloud.
I went the route of using an install DVD and changed the computer password but there is no way of using this route to change the ID. I have today down loaded Mountain Lion 10.8.3 in the hopes the legacy ID will have been lost. Not a chance.
There must be someone in Apple who can help me access my iCloud account to replace the legacy ID? Who, for goodness sake, who? I am sick of traversing the Apple help sites looking for anwsers and finding none.

I beleive the legacy is referring to the old mac address & password. Follow these steps to see if you are able to correct Boot system holding down Command key & S key this will take you to it's Terminal interface you will do all of the following on this screen of program language •need to check filesystem first will be (fsck -fy) next you must •mount the root drive as writeable so that it will save changes (mount -uw /) •Now, type the following command exactly, followed by enter key: rm /var/db/ .applesetupdone hit enter key then type :/ root# rm /var/db/.applesetupdone hit enter then type reboot hit enter......Upon reboot you will be presented with traditional "Welcome Wizard" startup screen just like when you get a new MacMake sure you use new user account name & designate as Administrator, no go to system preferences click on user accounts icon click on the lock in bottom left corner of accounts preferences window, click on user account & Click on Reset Password, this will enable you to change other user accounts & passwords as well. Close system preferences & reboot Mac should run without any further hangups, good luck. Just did this to mine yesterday because didn't have a system disk to use downside to no hard copy of OS Mt. Lion.

    Hi Nuch1,
I found an article that is contains very thorough Mail troubleshooting steps:
OS X Mail: Troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3276
You can use that article to figure out what part of the email "ecosystem" is the cause of the issue, and it can also help you attempt to resolve it.

  • ITunes 11.0.3 asks for password again and again, have re-done my credit card details, have changed my Apple ID password, tried to log in and out of iTunes, none of thos seem to work, just keeps happening without end, please help

I have tried to re-install iTunes 11.0.3 at least 6 times.
I have also downloaded iTunes 11.0.3 at least 5 times.
I have changed my Apple ID password.
I have downloaded (again, I've done that many times) iTunes 11.0.3, then I switched off the iMac, then restarted the wi-fi modem.  Switched on the iMac, loaded iTunes, same problem.
I tried to just switch off the wi-fi, did the same as point above, same problem.
Even tried to change the system date to 2038, this only seemed (although I doubt it) to fix the "not responding" issue which I had this morning.
The Apple ID password issue, where it asks me for the password loads and loads of times (probably 50 times or more), one after the other has been happening for about 3 days now.
Here is a copy of my message problem:
iTunes Problem, can't seem to find a solution online.
I am running OS X 10.8.3 on an iMac, have just loaded iTunes 11.0.3 a few days ago.
Firstly, I'd open iTunes and it would immediately say it was not responding, I'd have to force quit, try again, re-boot, try again etc.  I tried re-installing iTunes, changing password, everything to no avail, then changed my date to 2038, and voila it started responding (no, don't ask me, I just read in online and was desperate enough to try it).  Of course, I don't believe that this actually helped, I would like to know what did help or if there is something specific one needs to do to fix this.
I have not been able to get rid of this problem:  Whenever I try to make a purchase it asks for my Apple ID password, dozens of times until I give up and press cancel, cancel, cancel.
Why does it do this?  I don't want to purchase anything because I can't keep typing in my password again and again.  I'm not exaggerating.
As I mentioned, I have tried to re-install iTunes, about 6 times, and I changed my password.  I still get the same problem.
Also, my iTunes still looks like the classical iTunes and doesn't have the new interface.
Has anyone experienced this and was able to fix it, or does anyone know what the problem is?  Please help, I'm at my wits end.

Because too much time has passed I can't edit this into the prior comment, but here is the info regarding reverting to iTunes 11.0.2 (assuming you do have a time machine backup) from https://discussions.apple.com/message/22057703#22057703

    Repairing permissions doesn't fix it.
I reverted to the previous version, 11.0.2.
    1. Quit the new crash-prone iTunes.
    2. Delete the app.
    3. Restore v. 11.0.2 with Time Machine.
    4. In your iTunes folder look for a folder called "Previous iTunes Libraries", find the latest one.
    5. In the iTunes folder itself you'll see "iTunes Library.itl", delete it (or compress it and save a copy for later just in case.
    6. Copy the newest .itl file in Previous iTunes Libraries to the iTunes folder and rename it "iTunes Library.itl".
    7. Launch the older version of iTunes.
My crashing has seemed to have ceased with a revert to an older version. I noticed today that the newer crashing iTunes had been launched for hours but not playing anything, when I played internet radio it crashed within 5mins, fed up I reverted to an older version.
Btw, a simpler way to do this is to revert to older iTunes app, then hold Option when it launches and choose an older library.

  • How do I change the iMac account registered with my Apple ID?

I recently got a new iMac and signed in with my Apple ID. I want to change the iMac account that is linked with my Apple ID which was the first one I created the first time I started up my iMac. How do I do that?

I'm using Lion, but the premise may be the same. I've already forgotten SL.
In System Preferences click on Accounts. In Lion it's Users & Groups. You can look in there for something to do with Apple ID and password.
Is that what you're looking for.

  • I have changed the name and password for my Time Capsule and now the Time Machine will not connect

    Mac Book Pro
    1TB Time Capsule.
Yesterday I changed the name and password on my time capsule and also the name and password of the wifi network as I was having problems with the speed of the internet when using Safari on any of my devices (1 Macbook pro, 1 macbook air, 27" iMac, iPhone and iPad) all other internet services were working fine (email etc.) This seems to have solved the problem.
However, since then, my time machine back ups will not reconnect and there is no option for me to reconnect to the existing back up for my macbook pro.
When I enter the time machine preferences it shows as below that there are no back ups.
Then, when I go to select a drive to use which should be the MacBook under the Backup disks the only option is for me to Remove Disk...
So, my question is, how do I reconnect to an existing Time Machine back up for my MacBook pro as I really do not want to erase and start all over again.
Warning - In my naiveté, I did click on the MacBook in 'Available Disks' but I got the impression that it was about to start a whole new back up and not work with the existing one.
(And does anybody have an inkling as to why there was a problem with Safari on all my devices? I downloaded Google Chrome and that worked fine).

    Simply reset the Time Machine.
    See A4 here http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
You can then mount the TC disk in finder after you reboot the computer.
You should be able to reselect the TC disk and then it will say it is going to start a new backup.
Ignore this.. when the TM actually loads the TC disk it will discover the existing backup and continue the backup.. but it will give no hint until it actually starts that it won't start a new backup. you just have to believe it won't.. and mostly it works..
Please also install the widget A1 so you have some idea what TM is doing.

  • When trying to delete files, I get the following message, 'Finder Wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this.'

I'm running Mac OS X Version 10.7.4 on my iMac and am suddenly unable to simply move files to the trash.
Instead, I get the following message: 'Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this.'
When I do enter my password, the file does not enter the Trash but seems to disappear.
I tried to find ways to revert to previous settings that allowed me to move files to the trash, but had trouble doing so.
How can I get my iMac to run normally?
    Cheers!

  • How to change SSO user's password: Get LDAP URL

    Hi,
I would like to add a 'change user SSO password' form to my BC4J application. The form's submit button fires an action that calls a PL/SQL package. This package receives 7 parameters, and uses de dbms_ldap package to change the user's password.
    Parameters:
    - LDAP Host
    - LDAP Port
    - User DN
    - SSO Username
    - Old Password
    - New Password
    - Retyped New Password (for confirmation)
I'm trying with a DataForwardAction event whose purpose is to get the user's account information and the LDAP location, but I can't get the LDAP Location (ClassCastException) and the SSOUsername (NullPointerException).
    I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.2.0.0 (Build 1811)
My question is: ¿What am I doing wrong? ¿Is there any easier way to do this?
    The code is below:

// To override a method of the lifecycle, go to
// the main menu "Tools/Override Methods...".
    }Thanks in advance.

    Hi again,
First of all, thanks for your reply.
Yes, I know I can use JNDI instead of a call to a PL/SQL package (I visited this link: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=592611&start=0 that explains how to do it), but in both cases I have the same problem: I don't know if it's possible to get the LDAP's environment specifications (PROVIDER_URL, SECURITY_PROTOCOL) dynamically.
Our production environment's LDAP is not the same as our development environment's LDAP. This is why I want to get this information dynamically.
I think that this information is stored in the jazn.xml file: Is there any way to get this information?
    Thanks a lot.

  • I changed my Apple ID password and validated it OK but when I try to update or download apps now it asks me to enter password and then says it's not been validated.  how do I get out of this?

I changed my Apple ID password and successfully validated it.  Problem is the iPad App Store won't recognise me anymore.  if I select an App to update it asks me to enter password, then says "You have not verified your Application ID.Tap OK to view the instructions on how to verify your ID.".
A new pop up box then appears saying an email has been sent to my address.  The box to resend this is greyed out and the bottom line says "your email has already been validated successfully. thank you."
Any suggestions on how to solve this problem and force the iPad to let me update or download Apps again?

Same issues here. I try and log into face time and cloud, it tells me my email is not veryfied. I go back through the link sent in the verification email and, low and behold, it tells me my address has already been veryfied.
Getting really annoyed now. I have tried using a different email to log in with, but not even getting the verify email in my inbox, even after it states it has sent one.
CMON APPLE!!! Please resolve this glitch.

  • How to write a pgm to change the existing encrypted password

    Hi all,
can anybody tell me how to write a pgm to change the existing encrypted password.
    thanks in advance.

Well, it's going to depend on how it's implemented in the current system.
But basically it's going to look a lot like the current login actions. Presumably you have something that takes the user ID and password, encrypts the password, looks up the encrypted password in the database matching that user ID, and compares them. This functionality would also take a new password (preferably twice so they can be checked for consistency), and if the existing encrypted passwords match, it will encrypt the new password and put it in the database where the old one was.
And if the application has a mechanism for new users to sign up, it'll look a lot like this as well.
But I'm just guessing. This is all going to depend on how the existing functionality is written. Probably the best thing you can do is talk to a programmer at your organization who has worked on the application, and ask them for help.
    Hope this helps anyway.

  • How do I change the Wi-Fi password on my Mac? It is set with 46 numbers and letters. Not sure if it came from the compant this way or not. I bought a Kindle and need to put in the wifi password but it won't accept it the way it is.

How do I change my Wi-Fi password?

This item is a modem, it does not have wireless according to the manual which I have linked here, it is also rather old (as the requirements for a pentium 133 and 32mb of Ram suggest)
If this is all you have you can not connect your kindle (or anything else) to it wirelessly
    Get a router.

  • I created an Apple ID for iTunes using a work email address and left that company before I had an opportunity to change the email and password for that account.  How do I change the email address to a new one that I can access?

I created an Apple ID for iTunes using a work email address and left that company before I had an opportunity to change the email and password for that same account.  Now I can't seem to login to that account and I can't choose the option for forgot password because it will send email to the old workplace.  How do I change the email address to a new one that I can access?

If you remeber the password to that Apple ID then follow these steps
1 - Make sure you have an email address that is NOT an Apple ID
    2 - Go to AppleID.Apple.com
3 - Where it reads Manage Apple ID - Sign in
Once you are signed in want to make sure the email address you are wanting to use is NOT set up as a "Recovery/Rescue" email for this account.
[To check this - Main page where you see Primary ID - below do you see the email address you want to use listed towards the bottom? Yes - Delete / No - Good ./. If made any adjustments "Save" Next on the left select "Password & Security" - Answer your security questions you set up "if you have any" then scroll towards the bottom and check to see if you see the email address you want to use. Yes - Delete / No - Good] <-> Also you can change your password on this page as well. Any adjustments made "Save"
Once this is done go back to the main page where you should read "Primary ID" and change the email address that is showing to the new email address youo want. "Save" Done
I learned this not to long ago and worked for me. Hope this helps you!

  • I changed my apple ID password and now facetime cannot verify my e-mail address.  I have tried changing my password back but still recieve the same pop up window telling me that the email could not be verified and to check my network but have wifi working

Please help.  I changed my apple id password and now cannot use facetime and my icloud continues to prompt me for my password and I continue to give it but, I repeatedly am prompted for the password unless I cancel the icloud.  I have tried changing my password back to the password I had before and this did not work.  I have tried to use another e-mail address for facetime and had verified that e-mail address and this did not work.  I do not know how to fix this problem.  I have thought about changing my apple id but am not sure how I would be able to carry over the same credit card number to the new apple ID.  I loved my Mac book Pro because I could facetime my boyfriend while I am working away and now I cannot.  I am starting to hate Mac.

The idea to jumpstart by change was not the smartest one, but gives you an opportunity to use that "temporary" account as permanent. You do not have a choice cause obviously despite you thinking that old account is no more -it does exist on Apple servers. And if you are unwilling to share your [email protected] with friend, just create one extra [email protected] for your friend. One suggestion - do not use gmail.

  • If I changed my Apple ID password on my iphone then log into itunes on my phone with that new password, would it automatically sync to my laptop or would i need to put the new password into my laptop also?

If I changed my Apple ID password on my iphone then log into itunes on my phone with that new password, would it automatically sync to my laptop or would i need to put the new password into my laptop also? My laptop got stolen so I changed my password and wanted to be sure it's safe to enter in the new one on my phone. I don't want it to snyc to my laptop.

    Hi loro,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I'm sorry to hear that your laptop was stolen. Changing your password was a good step.
Entering your new password on your iPhone will not affect the laptop, as mentioned in this article:
    Apple ID: Changing your password
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5624
The next time you use an Apple feature or service that uses Apple ID, you'll be asked to sign in with your new Apple ID password.
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy
