Changing library files to MP3´s

Hey everybody.
I just bought a new MP3 dj controller for my computer but it is only compatible with MP3 and wma files. Is it possible to change my library to mp3 instead of the format they are allready in now??? I´ve changed my import format so that i dont have to do it in the future:-)
I hope this is possible. Thank you very much for your time and help.

You can convert the songs to MP3 in iTunes. However just be aware that converting will create a duplicate of every file in your library. If you don't want to keep the originals you'll have to delete them manually. To make it easier to delete the duplicates in one go, right click at the top of any column in the library and choose "Kind" from the list. Sort the library on Kind and select everything that isn't an MPEG audio file: How to convert a song to a different format

  • Changing bpa files to mp3

    my girlfriend recently imported her itunes library to her external harddrive, she wanted to put them back on the computer again, but when she did half of her itunes worked because most of them were bpa files. is there a way to convert them or encrypt them into mp3 files?

    *but when she did half of her itunes worked because most of them were bpa files*
    They worked because they were bpa files?
    If they were MP3 files, they still are unless she did something to change them.
    Right click - open with and select iTunes.
    Tick Always use this to open this file type.

  • Changing library, file location.

    I've been storing my files on my laptop's HD, and want to move the entire library to a NAS. How do I move all my files to a NAS and get LR to recognize that the location of the files has changed?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
    but
    1. Have you a wired or wireless connection to the Time Capsule? A strong warning: If you're trying to edit the Library (that is, make albums, move photos around, keyword, make books or slideshows etc.) or edit individual photos in it via Wireless be very careful. Dropouts are a common fact of wireless networking, and should one occur while the app is writing to the database then your Library will be damaged. Simply, I would not do this with my Libraries.
    2. Are you also using the TC for back ups? because the device is not intended for both back ups and general storage uses.

  • Convert AAC files to MP3 in iTunes?

    On my Mac, I can download from the internet in either MP3
    or AAC. I can also change MP3 files to AAC. But, can I
    change AAC files to MP3? I'm sure Apple had me do this one
    time to override some iTunes error, but I can't seem to do
    it now. I used this MP3 format for a long time so a lot of
    my downloaded songs are in this format. Now I'd like to
    change them back to AAC because it says I can't make a CD
    from MP3 files. Can I change the format or is there some
    way I can make a CD with MP3 files? I think I did it before
    on my old computer....I MUST have done it before because so
    many songs are in MP3 but it says I can't do it on the new
    mac.

    Janice.
    You can convert AAC files to MP3 by using the Advanced > Convert menu. However, you must first go to the Preferences > Advanced menu and change "Import Using AAC Encoder" to "Import using MP3 Encoder". This setting is used for both importing and converting. When you are finished converting, change the Preferences setting back to the encoder you prefer for importing.
    You can burn an MP3 CD if your CD player can play that format. You can fit a lot more songs on an MP3 CD than an Audio CD, but not all CD players can play an MP3 CD. Just go to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced >Burning and select the type CD you want. Note that songs must first be converted to MP3 format to burn to an MP3 CD. If your songs are in AAC format, iTunes converts them on the fly to AIFF when burning an Audio CD, but cannot burn them to an MP3 CD unless you convert them to MP3 files first.
    Hope this helps.

  • Changing wma music files to mp3?

    I am transferring songs from my PC to my mac and some are wma files that I need to change to mp3 so that I can put them in my itunes library and add them to my ipod. Itunes won't open wma music files on my mac....does anyone know how to transfer them from wma to mp3? (I tried clicking on "get info" and just changing from .wma to .mp3, but that didn't work....I need to convert somehow)
    Thanks so much!

    Use EasyWMA to convert them. iTunes will not do this in Mac OS X, and no Mac software will if the WMA is protected.

    How do I enable all sound files wav,MP3 on windows 7 64-bit change system sounds it will only give me the option to choose wav?

    Windows 7 uses .wav (wave) files for the sound events. The default folder that Windows 7 uses to store the sound files in is located at C:\Windows\Media.
    You cannot use a MP3 file but there are lots of (WAV to MP3 converters) available on internet which can help you to convert MP3 to wav  serving your purpose of changing system sound.

    Ok, well you'll need to do something like this. Now this part is a little dependent on your database server:
           try {
                Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver").newInstance();
                Connection c = DriverManager.getConnection(
                                                           "jdbc:mysql://{database-server}/{database-name}:3306?user={username}&password={password}");
                Statement Stmt = c.createStatement();
                int count = Stmt.executeUpdate(cmd);
                if(count>0) {
                     System.out.println("count: " + count);
            } catch (Exception e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
        }That was some sample code for a MySQL database.
    Note that the applet can only contact the server that is was loaded from, so you might want to do a getCodeBase() or something like that to get the server address.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Changing the file location of iPhoto library...????

    I have a 13' Macbook since early 2008 with an 80gb hard disk.
    I also have a 500gb Time Capsule..
    Due to the size of my hard disk and my music collection amassing already 80gb+ I changed the file location of the iTunes music library to the Time Capsule.. this wasn't too difficult to work out how to do, but, i now have over 50gb of photos and videos in iPhoto and do not want to delete any. This has resulted in my hard disk/start up disk being full to capacity.
    I now of course need to change the location of my iPhoto library from being on the MacintoshHD to being on my Time Capsule, but unlike with iTunes i can find no way of doing this... can anybody help??
    thanks in advance

  • Toshiba 20GB F series - How to change files to mp3?

    Hello :)
    This is my first post here. I have had +Toshiba 20 Gb F series+ for over 4 years. Recently it has been acting weird, the directional buttons weren't responding and I decided to back up all my files. So I made a copy of everything I had on my Gigabeat on the hard drive. My GB died 2 days a go (rip) and I tried to listen to my music on the hard drive but the windows does not recognize the format.
    So my question is how do I change the format of the files back to *Mp3*? I asked this question in others boards and they told me to post it here since you guys are more familiar with this problem. If you happen to know the answer can you please tell me a step by step instruction? Like what program I need to use and etc.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    > I asked this question in others boards and they told me to post it here since you guys are more familiar with this problem.
    First of all here in the forum you will meet the same guys like in other forums ;)
    Only one difference is that here are more Toshiba notebook owners as in other forums :)
    But I dont know why we should be familiar with such issue ?:|
    Anyway to be honest I dont understand what the problem is.
    I mean you made a backup of your files (what files?) and now you want to convert it to MP3???
    Generally if you want to convert some audio files to mp3 then you will have to use an special tool.
    In internet you will find a lot of different tools which are able to convert the audio files to different formats
    Just google for such free tools.

  • To change info in library file then info, only the most recent cd's allow me to change info, all others 14,000, do not, any ideas???

    Understand to change cd info in library  File then info, as of recent only the most recent music added to my library enabled to make changes, all others (14,000) do not highlight change categories, that is gray not black. Any suggestions.

    I suspect a permissions problem. This can happen when a library is moved between systems or the system is upgraded to a new version of Windows.
    Right-click on your main iTunes folder (or ithe Tunes Media folder if that is elsewhere) and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
    If it won't let you change the permissions use the Owner tab to take ownneship from an account with administror privileges.

  • Can i change the file type on itunes? they arent compatible with my mp3

    is there a way to change the file to a wma or mp3? please help before i brain myself with the keyboard ^^

    wma is Windows Media Player format so no to that. mp3 can be done of course. In the importing section of preferences you can set what kind of file is created when ripping CDs.

  • Change library location before installation (in MSI-File with Orca?)

    Dear Forum-Users,
    I want to change the file-location from the itunes-library BEFORE the installation. The standard-path is under "my documents" and "my documents" is relocated to our network share. I want to change the location to C:/iTunes/. My idea was to open the MSI-file with "orca" an change the location-settings but I cannot find this entry.
    any ideas?
    BR

    I don't know of any way to do it.
    My advice is to go ahead and install itunes, and the first time you run it, do a shift-start. Press *AND HOLD* the shift key while starting itunes. Keep pressing until you get a prompt to create a library. Create the library in C:\iTunes.
    You only have to do this shift-start once. iTunes keeps using the last library it opened, until you do another shift-start.

  • Rebuilding iPhoto library changes .mov files to raw

    I rebuilt my iPhoto library and since then any .mov files (specifically MJPEG) were changed to RAW in the info panel. The files haven't been changed, but if you try to view them, they small thumbnails are intact, but expanded are a triangular icon with an exclamation point. If I locate the original file and reimport it, it fixes the problem for that individual problem, but this is a tedious solution. MP4 files and H264 files were not affected. I have not been able to locate any information for a solution. Is there a way to force iphoto to change the file format so that it properly recognize that it is a video file, not an image file?
    Snow Leopard, iPhoto 9.1.5

    Why do you think they've become Raw?
    The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Is it possible to change drive letters for library files

    Without having to delete and re-add everything? It would be very nice for all my playlists and my iPod and playcounts and whatnot if this were possible.
    If not, what is the easiest way to getting all your music with a new drive letter and managing to keep all playlists and whatnot.
    I ask because I'd like to be able to access my music on multiple computers but the drive letter D:\ associated with the library is taken on most systems I go on (and on many cannot be changed for various reasons)

    To be portable the iTunes library and it's assoicated files should be kept together in one folder, with all the media being in held a designated subfolder. iTunes for Windows normally creates the main iTunes folder at <profile>\<documents>\<music>\iTunes. Inside iTunes should be the sub-folders *Album Artwork*, *iTunes Music* and typically *iPod Games*. From iTunes 8.0 the iTunes folder will usually contain the following library files:
    *iTunes Library.itl*
    *iTunes Library.xml*
    *iTunes Library Extras.itl*
    *iTunes Library Genius.itl*
    sentinel
    If you rename or move the main iTunes folder as a whole, then hold SHIFT while opening iTunes (which gives an option to create a new library or open an existing one), then browse to the new location of the *iTunes Library.itl* file, iTunes will open the library, work out the new locations of any files stored in or below *iTunes\iTunes Music* and place new rips or downloads in the correct relative location. If such a library is put on a portable drive, the drive can be connected to multiple computers, each running the same version of iTunes, and the library can be accessed with iTunes irrespective of which drive letter is assigned by each machine.
    As far as I can tell you were taking an existing library, changing the location for files to a new target, consolidating to that new location and then moving the itl files. While this would appear to be the advice given I'm not sure it is as simple or effective as just moving the whole folder.
