  • How to change logical device names

Hi, I would like to change the logical device names for an external StorEdge. Booting into single user mode from a CD and deleting everything in /dev/dsk/ and /dev/rdsk/ as well as the path_to_inst file and then reconfigure booting doesn't work. Solaris remembers which physical device name was allocated to which logical device name. Haven't been able to find any info on how Solaris remembers this. I've thought of booting into init S from CD and renaming the logical device names but I would like to rename them to the next available controller which is c3 and which is probably already "reserved" for the unused onboard SCSI controller. Does anybody have any info on this ?

  • Change Logical Schema name of an existing interface

How do we change the logical schema name of an existing interface which is pointing to a different logical schema. Note: Both two different logical schema are pointing to the same database schema.
Thanks in advance for your update.
    Kaustuv

I'm not sure it's good to have two different logical schemas pointing to the same physical schema.
Whatever, what do you want to change ?
The logical schema of a source datastore ? Of a target datastore? Of a target temporary interface? Or the staging area ?

  • Logical Sys Name for Business system in SLD for Third Party

    Hi !!
I have little doubt what will be the logical system name for creating Business systems in SLD for third party?
    thanks
    Gowri

    Hi Gowri,
sorry, i dont agree with the other answers. The logical system name is required for ALE partner finding. If you dont want to communicate with IDocs you dont need it. If you want to send messages from third party system to R/3 via IDoc adapter, then you should (can) give a name. It can be configured in IB directory as well (adapter specific identifiers). Choose any name, this name will be used for the partner agreement in R/3.

  • Logical client creation issue..

    Hi,
We had setup 2 clients 500 and 700 in QA System for our upgraded ECC system.. and would like to assign a logical systems to respective clients.
But when I check the naming conventions IN SALE  it is in series like
<SID>CLNT401,402,403 and it does not allow us to create logical client as per the format <SID>CLNT<Client no>.
In this case what shall we do shall we assign available Logical clients to the new clients or what do you suggest..
Iam unable to make changes..it is asking us to enter names for all logical clients..
    Regds,
    Satyanarayana N.

    Hi Ruchit,
Err :Please fill in all the required fields...
It si asking to fill in all the Logical Client Names and unable to proceed further..
And the Naming convention has a different client  to what the client we have created..
    Eg: our client is 500..
    Naming convention in SAP : <sid>clnt <401>(instead of 500)
Can we use the same naming standard or whats the procedure to change the naming standard..
I have done a test run for logica;l name change using BDLS  but it does not recommend ... for conversion..
Msg :Table T000  was suitable for conversion..
    New entries were added..

  • How to change the computer name

I need to change the computer name but after this I cannot access to the historical data (printing alarms).
I have already changed the settings in Options->System and restarted the system.
With MAX 3.0 I can see that all the alarm records are stored with the old computer name \\computer name\process\....
How can I do to read the old alarms with the new computer name?
    Thank you
    Michael

    Hi,
When you change the computer name in Options>>System, you are not changing the name of the computer. Rather, you are telling Lookout to log to either a remote or local system. Here are the specifics:
    1. Computer Name: Name you want the traces to appear with (\\computer_name\process\...)
    2. Default Computer: Computer you want to log to. If the name listed here is different than your computer's name (as seen by Windows), then it will attempt to log directly to that remote machine.
    3. Default Path: Directory on either your local or remote machine that you want to log to.
To change the name of your local computer, you will need to do that in Windows. If you have WinXP, you can do this by right-clicking on My Computer and selecting Computer Name.
    Go

  • Services in JCo RFC not getting started after Changing the client from 001

    Hi SAP Stars,
I have recently Installed Quality and Production servers with PI 7.1 on windows 2003, Sqlserver 2005, when I'm doing Post Activities(http://host:port/nwa) in which I try to change the client from 001 to 300(newly created) in  JCo RFC(4 services) and start the service it is throwing error when I again change it to 001 client and start the service it is getting started, Could anyone help me in solving this issue same issue I facing in PI 7.1 Quality and Production
    Thanks In Advance
    Anil Kumar

    Hi Anil,
All these JCo RFCs are client specific RFCs.
    Please logon your PI NWA
Choose Configuration Management - Infrastructure- JCo RFC Provider
    Then, Select the RFC
Under Details -> Choose Repository Configuraton
Change the client name to 300 (your new client)
    Save
And repeat the same for all JCo RFC that you want to work for your newly created client.
Please ensure that you are using SAPJSF user & correct password for all these RFCs.
Ideally, these rfcs shuould work now if now please restart your PI  (mostly Java alone also do)
    I hope this helps you.

  • How can i change the database name on MaxDB?

Hello.  I need to do a homogeneous copy where the source system is the productive system and the target system is the quality system. Therefore after to restore the data backup i need to change the database name of quality system (from CLP to CLQ) but i'm not sure that it could be possible because in the MaxDB documentation i didn't found nothing about that. please can you tell me if it is possible and how i change it?
I work with MaxDB 7.6.04.11.  Thanks for your help.

    > I will try to explain better: the SID of the source database is CLP and the SID of the target database is CLQ, when you say "once you restore the DB, it will use the new SID", i understand that the new SID in the target database would CLP or am i wrong? and i need that the SID in the target database remains CLQ after the restore.
    Hi Ivonne,
what you've described as your requirement is exactly what will happen, when you just perform the procedure that Eric described to you.
A recovery won't change the SID of the instance you perform the recovery to.
All it does is: take the instance as is and load the data pages to the data area. Afterwards the log files may be recovered.
Think of the instance as a kind of container for your database.
The instance itself is not the database - so the SID does not change with the content of the database.
Hmm... why not simply try it?
Create a little test instance and back it up.
Create another instance with a different name and recover the backup of the first instance.
You will still have both instances, each with its original name.
    regards,
    Lars

  • Report issue , logical name of the system has been changed

    Hi
Recently our system has been upgraded to ECC5.0. In a particular report  while drilling down we get  error. The error says the original doc can not be shown as it belongs to logical system ( DRH-123) . Now we know that this logical name of the system was in old box . The new logical name is DRH-100 . We are saying it's a basis issue and the basis team is saying it's FICO issue.Has any body encountered this type of problem. ? In my report  i have never mentioned logical name of the system.Hence unable to understand it. But so far what I have understood , that the each box  has been partioned and given a system name which is called logical name. Now that logical name they have changed in new box.My initial response was change the logical name but basis says that is a big task and more over it has been a while when they changed it.
Gurus, Kindly shed some light on this mess.
    Thanks in advance
    Satya

Which report are you pulling out? T-code?
This link has some that may help you:
    www.scribd.com/doc/24447/SAP-R3-IDoc-Cookbook-for-EDI-and-Interfaces-by-Axel-Angeli
Do CTRL+F to find Logical Systems
If the link doesnt work use the following keywords and google it, shoose second result: EDI IDOCS interface axel angeli sap
You may also want to get in touch with the person who was involved in developing LS. Talk with your ABAPer, they normally have an idea about these things (well atleast my ABAPer knows!)

    hello all,
I'm actually having the same issue.  This issue is NOT the popular adapter-specific identifier problem where the business system in the ID needs to be compared with the SLD.  This issue is that the within the SLD on PI 7.0 the Logical System Name of a given business system is not present although the logical system name of the specified technical system does appear.  You cannot change the LSN of the business system since it relies completely on the LSN of the associated technical system.
I used Jochen's approach before and it worked, but i've tried this again since i'm having the same issue.  Only now it doesn't work.
i solved this issue by deleting the old BS and recreating it
    Thanks,

  • Change logical system names after system copy

    Hi!
We successfully installed SAP ECC 6.0 system as system copy.
All the logical system names of old system have been copied to new system.
    Question
What is the approach to change the logical system names for new SAP system?
    a) just via tcode SCC4
    b) via BDLS
    c) other tcodes, reports
    Thank you very much!
    regards
    Jürgen

    Hi,
Go though the system copy guide.
    http://service.sap.com/instguides
    After system copy,
If you need to change logical system names in the system that results from the copy, change the logical system names as described in SAP Notes 103228 and 544509.
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/103228
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/544509
Before running BDLS to change the logical system name, you have to define the correct logical system name in the new copied system. in tcode BD54.
    - while running BDLS, execute in background.

    Debasis.

  • Logical System name in Entitlement Systems

    Hi,
In Authentication > SAP, I have given System and client names, but logical system name is not generated.
Please let me know how to resolve this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Priya

    Hi John,
    Thanks for your response.
FQDN and IP address are added in the host file.
But still the logical system name is not displaying.
Without logical system name, other details are filled for Application Host Logon as
Application server name - Host name
All the details are filled except the selection of logical system name.
Then it is displaying the error - "Please specify complete credentials for either load balancing or direct application host logon"
Please let me know how to resolve this.
    Thanks,
    Priya.

  • Logical system name in SRM system

We are into SRM version 5.(SRM server 5.5) with the backend system as SAP ECC 6.0 .
The logical system is defined as '0000000050' for backend SAP  system . All the systems like CRM and BW uses this as the logical system name for backend system . Recently SRM is implemented in our organization and we have no other choice and have to use the logical system name as '0000000050'
When product categories are assigned in the org attributes , the system stores the back end system as  50 and this is the issue. SAP support mentions that this is issue with logical system naming convention and that need to be fixed . But they fail to understand that the same name works fine in all other systems and also in SRM system except product categories .
Is there any OSS note for this fix. I would like to hear your experiences in this scenario.
    Thanks
    Mani

    Hi Mani,
Logical System names are system specific, hence you have a different name in SRM system which will represent your backend system and this is not at all an issue. As suggested by SAP; '0000000050'  is not the best name as per best practices.
You should have a name which should be of the pattern: <SID>CLNT<Client Number>.
Now here is the solution/work around. But be very careful and try this in sandbox system before being carried out in Dev/QA/PRD systems. Please make sure no other users are performing any activity while these tasks are being carried out.
In addition, please read through the ["Set up and system copy of SRM server 5.5";|https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000310782007E/SRM50_SetupTranspCopy.pdf]  guide before you carry out this activity:
The below activities are to be carried out only in SRM system
I assume SRM & Backend are separate instances
    1. Create a new logical system name for the backend system in SRM system as per the standard suggested above.
    2. Then use the transaction BDLS, to convert the old logical system name to new logical system name in all the tables.
    3. Now, the step 2 ensure the logical system name is converted appropriately in all tables except SRM Org Structure related table.
    4. Use the report RHOMATTRIBUTES_REPLACE, for replacing all the old logical system value with new logical system value. Please note while providing the inputs in the screen, there will be a Checkbox field called "Sub-String", you must check this one for all attributes you enter in the report. Then when you execute the report, a list will be display, here you have to select all the rows and click the first button on the toolbar. Only then the attributes will be updated.
Please let me know, if further inputs are required.
    Regards, Kathirvel

  • Archiving : Change of Logical File Name & physical path

    Hello friends,
We are doing archiving for a Z* archiving object.
We run a write job(not delete job till now) for this archiving object and it created archive files in .../SYS/GLOBAL directory as was expected from settings of Logical File Name and hence physical path corresponding to it. So far no problem..
Now, requirement is to change this path and for this i created a new Logical File Name with a different physical path.
My concern is, about already archived data in older path. Should i only run delete job for that session ?
Or should i copy the archive files to new path and then start delete job OR do a write job once again..
    please suggest.
    thanks
    ashish

    Hello Juan,
Ok, i can copy the files, those are not too many as we did it only for 2 months selection.
Can i go for write job again for same selection ? If yes, probably it will create a new session.. correct ? and then i will go for deletion for new session.
If this is also correct way, i want to do this.. as till now this has been one for only 2 months and we are going to do for 8 yrs.
One more question, will the be any problem for having 2 sessions for same selection.. means 2 write or archive job for same selection.
    thanks
    ashish

  • How do you convert Logical System Names of BW systems in BO

    Hi,
We have implemented SSO where user/role administration takes place in BW, and then imported into BO where authorization to folders and reports are maintained.
What we are NOT yet able to figure out is how to move our BO groups (i.e. those groups that were automatically created from BW roles) and have them automatically mapped to the roles in the next environment.
    Below is the scenario:
    BW Dev Environment
    System XXD
    Client   100
    Role     ZHR
    BO Dev Environment
BW role ZHR has been imported and group XXD100@ZHR is automatically created. Also, we have granted group XXD100@ZHR access to different folders, reports and universes in this environment.
    BW Test Environment
    System XXT
    Client   200
Role     ZHR has been transported from Dev
    BO Test Environment
We are not quite sure how to import XXD100@ZHR from our BO dev enviroment and have the group automatically changed to XXF200@ZHR with the access to the different folders, reports and universes retained. Your help is highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Olu

    Hi,
We are not quite sure how to import XXD100@ZHR from our BO dev enviroment and have the group automatically changed to XXF200@ZHR with the access to the different folders, reports and universes retained
    >>>you actually do NOT want to have those roles imported because the role from you first system doesn't exist in the second system.
You first system is pointing to system XXD with Client 100 and the second system is pointing to system XXF and client 200 - very different systems.
the roles have to be imported as part of the overall SAP authentication configuration. In case this is about having a possible identical folder and security structure I would suggest you use also groups in the BusinessObjects system - standard BusinessObjects groups - use those to assign security and then assign the SAP groups as subgroups. In that way you keep the security configuration and only assign the right subgroups.
