Changing logical database

Hiii
There is a program MM60 which is really causing a issue of performance.
A copy of mm60 was done with additional column added .  the issue we are actually having is that the program is taking too much time.
After analysis we have found out that there is GET XXX statement which are not necessary and which is being done by the copy program.
Can we just comment it or change the copy logical database to optimize the code .  i would like to know the impact?

If you have made a copy , the try to do performance tuning of object.
Check which select statement/ABAP logic is taking more time.
You can also try to avoid this Logical database by using database tables directly.
Check ST05 ans SE30 output.

  • Changing logical database ADA

    Hi,
I have a requirement to change the selection screen of a report. I need to remove one field and add another field in place of it. Now the report selection screen is getting retrieved from logical database ADA. How can I achieve the addition of field in logical database. Do I need to copy the existing logical database to a new one or is there any other way of achieving this ?

Thanks for the reply Shiba.  For that particular problem, the business wants to not have to use the dynamic selection, and just have KNA1-REGIO and KNB1-BUSAB as regular select options.  Like I said as well, I did find DD_BUSAB which I can use for KNB1-BUSAB, but KNA1-REGIO is still a problem.
Right now I just use a CHECK statement and filter kna1-regio after the GET kna1 statement.
    Thanks again,
    L

  • Changing logical database DDF select order, and restricting the selection

    HI all,
I am using logical database DDF for a report.  I would like to do two things:
    1) Change the sort order of records so that when my GET statements are processing, they are bringing the data back in sorted by a field of my choice (such as KNA1-REGIO, or KNB1-BUSAB).
    2) I would like to add KNA1-REGIO and KNB1-BUSAB as fields for selection during the LDB's initial selection, instead of filtering out records during the GET statements.
FYI, I did find the field DD_BUSAB in the LDB selection structure which I can use to restrict KNB1-BUSAB.  I am still not sure how to restrict by KNA1-REGIO though.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks so much,
    L

  • How to retrieve data using logical database and custom select options

    Hi all,
I have a selection screen which is displayed by logical database PSJ and I have two select options of my own. I need to retrieve data based on both selection screen of logical database and my own select options. How can I do it?

  • Selection part of Logical Database

I read about logical database somewhere on the net but it was not so clear. Can anyone explain to me about the selection part of the logical database???

Logical databases are special ABAP programs that retrieve data and make it available to application programs. The most common use of logical databases is still to read data from database tables and linking them to executable ABAP programs while setting the program contents. You edit logical databases using the Logical Database Builder in the ABAP Workbench.
However, since Release 4.5A, it has also been possible to call logical databases independently of this tool using the function module LDB_PROCESS. This allows you to call several logical databases from any ABAP program, nested in any way. It is also possible to call a logical database more than once in a program, if it has been programmed to allow this. This is particularly useful for executable programs, allowing them to use more than one logical database and process a database more than once.
Logical databases contain Open SQL statements that read data from the database. You do not therefore need to use SQL in your own programs. The logical database reads the program, stores them in the program if necessary, and then passes them line by line to the application program or the function module LDB_PROCESS using an interface work area.

Logical databases are SAP standard programs that are desinged with selections screens that helps easy retrival and access of data from various tables in and efficient manner.
You can get to know more about the logical databases from the SAP documentation or the following links.

    Advantages of Logical database -
    1) No need of programming for retrieval , meaning for data selection
    2) Easy to use standard user interface, have check completeness of user input.
    Disadvantages
    1) Fast in case of lesser no. of tables But if the table is in the lowest level of hierarchy, all upper level tables should be read so performance is slower.

  • Change selection screen in LDB (KDF logical database - NOT HR)

    Hi All,
Iu2019d like to use KDF logical database to keep the dynamic selections since user wants to use it but I need to change the selection screen itself. The existing variants for KDF donu2019t meet the user requirements. Some fields I need to hide some add. Like I want to u201Cremoveu201D the field u2018Posting periodu2019 (MONAT) (which is available in dynamic selection screen) and put it on the u201Cmainu201D selection screen.
Do I need to create my own logical database or there is a way around?
Could someone give me a practical advice or sample of solution?
    Thanks a lot.

    Thanks Himanshu,
I did as you suggested but problem is that it does not allow me to hide the whole block.
I have 3 filelds actually on block KD_0 I need to hide (its from selection screen of KDF logical database.)
      SELECT-OPTIONS: KD_LIFNR FOR LFA1-LIFNR MATCHCODE OBJECT KRED.
      SELECT-OPTIONS: KD_BUKRS    FOR  LFB1-BUKRS.
    SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK KD_0.
PARAMETERS KD_INDEX AS SEARCH PATTERN FOR TABLE LFA1.
What I did is below.  I used sp instead of  u201C=u201D since it has many screen for field KD_LIFNR(for frame, text etc).
And when I did just for KD_LIFNR it was hidden but when I did the same for KD_BUKRS it was not hidden . The field has stars u201C*********u201D in it.
Same happen with KD_INDEX. The name of the field is hidden but field not and it filled with ********. Do you have any ideas what it can be?
I debugged it to catch all screen names but no luck
      loop at screen.
        if screen-name cp 'KD_LIFNR' or
        screen-name cp 'KD_BUKRS' or
        screen-name cp 'KD_INDEX' or
        screen-name = '%B000003_BLOCK_1000' or
        screen-name = 'SSCRTEXTS-FRAME_TEXT' or
        screen-name = 'SSCRTEXTS-MCID_TEXT' or
        screen-name = 'SSCRTEXTS-STRNG_TEXT' or
        screen-name = 'SSCRFIELDS-SEARCH_BTN' or
        screen-name =  '%B025008_BLOCK_1000' or
        screen-name =  '%F021010_1000' or
        screen-name =  'ALCUR' or
        screen-name =  '%F022012_1000' or
        screen-name =  'EXCDT' or
        screen-name = 'SSCRFIELDS-UCOMM'.
          screen-invisible = '1'.
          modify screen.
        endif.
      endloop.

  • Change output of abap logical database report

    Hello
I have an abap report that is using a logical database to display some fields. My problem is that i have to change it and display more fields for output ,how can i control this?
    Thank you

    Hi,
We need to add the required (additional) fields to the internal table structure, fill the fields with relevant data and display them on the screen. How is the output fields related to using a LDB..?
Can you explain me a little bit more on the below stmt?
" I have an abap report that is using a logical database to display some fields."
I am not clear in understanding the relation b/w 'using LDB' and 'fields in output'. I dont think the fields displayed in the output screen will be restricted while using a LDB. Pls correct me if i understood wrong.
    Thanks,
    teja.

  • Changing selection sequence for logical database

    Hi,
One of my current report is using logical database PNP. The users are satisfy with the standard selection screen. However they would like me to change the sequence of the selection field. Example, current sequence is Personnel number, company code, employee subarea. They would like it be Personnel number, employee subarea, company code.
Is there any way I can change the sequence of the selection screen? I tried using report catagory but it don't allow me to change the sequence. Please advise.
    Regards,
    Lanwu

Rich is correct.. but there is a workaround..
Use the Report Category that suppresses all the selection fields.. I the program deifne your selection screen with the fields in your own order preference. In the STARt-OF-SELECTION event.. pass the values entered to the PNP fileds.. ie suppoes you have declared S_PERNR ( for Pers No), then use PNPPERNR[] = s_pernr[]. This way you will not have to change the LDB program..

  • Logical Database DDF - GET KNA1 - change KUNNR to another customer....

    Hi
    Question 1a:
When using logical database DDF I perform a GET KNA1 a check is performed in order to see if customer should be within selection or not. In some cases this customer refers to another customer (fiscal address) that should be used instead.
So Customer KNA1-KUNNR: 123 should instead be Customer 456 which contains the relevant data for the next step in the selections from the logical database.
    ..GET KNB1
    ..GET BSID...
How is it possible to replace customer 123 with customer 456 so the continous processing of the logical database will use the new customer number instead.
    Question 1b
And a follow up question - If there is a solution to question above....
How can I make sure that IF customer 456 pops up in the regular selection from the logical database - It is excluded since it was already used (when customer 123 was replaced with 456 above)...
    Best regards

  • Is it possible to change selection screen of logical database structure?

I have to create a z report for a standard transaction FBL01N which is extracting data according to the vendor account number(LIFNR) at the selection screen. Now as per the requirement the system should extract details according to 'vendor name' keeping the same functionality.
But the standard program is using some logical database structure KDB and the include for the selection screen is DBKDFSEL.So can I modify the selection screen of this transaction replacing Vendor No with Vendor Name.

  • Logical Database PNP. HR and Unicode

    Hi,
currently we are checking all programs to make them unicode compliant. Using the logical database PNP a lot of macros is loaded automatically. One of them is
rp_provide_from_last (or rp_provide_from_frst) to get the last record in a specifed time-interval. The existance is stated in varaible named pnp-sw-found, it is 0 if no record was found and 1 if there is one in existance.
Checking the program (normal syntach check and extended syntax check) leads to the warning that varaibale names with a hyphen are no longer allowed in unicode programs if its not a structure (and pnp-sw-found is not). The program is doing well, and transaction UCCHECK does not mention this error/warning at all. Has someone experience with that issue and perhaps a solution?
    cu
      Rainer

Thanks for the answers so far. Using PNPCE does not resolve my problem, cause we have a lot of own written reports and i just want to avoid to change them all.
And using PNPCE idoes not solve the problem, that i have to use pnp-sw-found, this one is still in existance and gives still the warning that thois is not unicode compliant.
Switching off the unicode flag is no good idea if we wanna go for unicode.
Anyone else with experience in unicode in the HR Area?
