You can also create a new account on this website. That will serve as your Apple ID.

  • Cannot change login Name in Preferences

Login Name will not update. I need my edits to a document to come up with my name, not a former collegue.

    Hi ElB7,
To change the author name of comments:
Open the Acrobat or Reader preferences and click the Commenting category.
Deselect Always Use Log-in Name for Author.
    Create a comment.
Right-click the comment and choose Properties from the pop-up menu.
Change the Author name on the General tab to your name. Select Make Current Properties Default.
    Click OK.
Please let us know if that did the trick!
    Best,
    Sara

  • Reset or Change Login Name

I would like to change my login name to something other than my computer's name.  That name is not what I would like to appear as my author name for comments.  I've tried reinstalling the program after changing my computer's name, hoping it would change the login name to the new computer name.  That did not work.  Why would a program restrict a user from changing the login name????  I'm very aggravated by this.  Please, can someone help me reset or change my login name???

Sorry, what program, and what login name?
If you mean the Adobe.com login name, go to http://www.adobe.com/ and click on Sign-in.  Next click on the pull-down on your user name and select My Information; you can change all your details there.

  • Changing Login Name in Acrobat Reader

Is there an easy way to change your login name (the name reader uses as an author name when commenting)?
It is a pretty easy process in Pro, but my Reader uses need to change their author name as well
    any help?

Could you be alittle more specific. Because if I try to change the preference entry:
Preferences -> Identity -> Login Name
I will not change, it is locked down. What preference specifically are you changing?

  • Changing Login Name and Password

    Greetings,
I gave my MacBook Pro to my brother and would like to change the computer owner name, login and password so it comes up as his computer. Where and hos do I do this?
Also, I did a Software Update and was prompted for my user id and password. I would like to change all of these for him. Can I get some help here?
    Thank you!

The Computer Name is changed in Sharing preferences.
The owner's long name and account password can be changed in Accounts preferences.
To change the short or user name, however, requires an involved procedure. See the following article and use the last procedure called The Full Monty: Macworld | Changing the short username in Leopard. Alternatively, you can create a new admin user account for your brother with whatever long and short user name he desires. Then log into that new account and delete your old account.

  • Can I use the Registry to change the Login Name used in Note Tool?

If adding notes in browser-based review, you cannot edit the Author name used in the note tool. Its uses the fixed Windows login name shown in Edit > Preferences > Identity.
If you turn off the "Always use Log-in name for Author name" setting, the Author can be changed when adding notes in Acrobat itself, but the Author is fixed to the Windows login name in browser-based review.
Therefore, I was wondering if anyone knows if this can be changed in the Registry? I've found the login field name here (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\9.0\Annots\cAnnots\cAnnot\tauthor) but it unfortunately does not update the Author field.

    Good afternoon!
You can replicate this in Acrobat 8 as follows:
    - In Acrobat / Edit Preferences / Commenting, turn off "Always use Log-in Name for Author Name"
    - Open a PDF in Acrobat > Add a Note > Right-click Properties > General tab > Rename the Author to "TESTING" > Click "Make Properties Default" > Click OK
    - Set up a Network Folder Online Comments Repository as follows: In Acrobat / Edit Preferences / Reviewing, set Server Type to "Network Folder" and browse for a folder to save comments to.
    - Open Registry and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\8.0\Annots\cAnnots\cAnnot\tauthor
    - tauthor should be showing "TESTING" that we entered earlier
    - Open a browser window and drag a PDF into it
    - Add a Note, the Author name is fixed to be the Windows Login name.

  • SLS changing short/login name

I've seen this in other threads (at least on Apple's discussion board) and thought I had a temp fix, but it hit again today. When you add aliases to a user in Workgroup Manager, it can/has change the primary shortname for one of the aliases, thereby changing the short login name used for network logins, email login etc. It happened again today. I wasn't able to check my email because it wouldn't authenticate, I looked at WGM, and sure enough the primary (first in the list greyed out can't edit) shortname had been changed to one of the aliases I had added for email purposes, and my original shortname had been demoted to an alias.
Does anyone else know id Apple is aware of this? Does anyone had an actual fix?

This may or may not be germane to your issue, but I had all kinds of trouble when I initially set up OS X server, migrating from - among other things - a separate mailserver. This related to using periods in usernames and also from creating second usernames (with periods) in WGM. There seems to be an issue with anything other than letters and numbers in usernames.
For around 20 years, our email addresses had been in the form firstname.lastname@domain, so my first run at setting up snow leopard server used these existing usernames. I am no longer certain of the details, but depending on the method used (server preferences or workgroup manager, as I recall), the system would either accept or reject usernames containing periods. Since I was concerned that using our legacy firstname.lastname usernames might be a problem, I checked with apple enterprise support, and the person I spoke to could not identify a reason why the periods might cause a problem, so I went ahead.
I cannot recall the specific initial problems, but there were several and I ended up purging my firstname.lastname users and going with usernames that had no periods or other offending characters. This time, in order to continue receiving mail at our legacy addresses, each user had a second "firstname.lastname" username entered in WGM. Among the problems I recall arising at this juncture was WGM becoming semi-disabled (I was unable to add users, for instance) and, in some cases, and for no apparent reason, the firstname.lastname usernames swapped places with the "legal" usernames in WGM.
I ended up purging the users and groups again, using only the "legal" usernames and no second username in WGM, and manually editing the etc/postfix/aliases file, to deal with our legacy firstname.lastname usernames. Everything has been well behaved for several weeks now, and adding a couple of second names that had no (apparently) illegal characters has not caused any problem.

  • OTN Enhancement Request - Changing of OTN email / login name

From what I read it is currently not possible to change the email address / login name of the OTN forum. I would like to request an enhancement for this functionality to be implemented.
It looks to me like the more than 4 year old request for this functionality has gone missing. :-)

Unfortunately it is an id that might connect to an old firm you worked for and more troublesome it can be reused at the old firm.
Strangely enough platforms like LinkedIn and other can handle this kind of changes to the login id.

  • CAN'T Update Server name during login (since I have changed computer name)

I had a working environment of SAP BO 8.8 installation (VM), I made a second copy for a someone who needs to change his server name so we don't collide with each other.  So he changed his server name fine and now when we try to change the name during login in SAP BO, we are completely unable to do anything, no company or database shows up and when you try typing server name it won't allow you since it is a drop down, the only availble server name is the old server name.
We went to Service Manager, got a new license key for the hardware key, update fine as well as updating the server name there but when we try login, we are not able and no matter what we do we are not able to change the server name.  Please help, it is getting desperate (tried all things possible).
    Thanks

In working VM copy, do a global search for the server name in all configuration files in SAP install directory.  Then compare with copied copy and try to change appropriate names in all files.
Changing server name is a complex process, it has many references in many configuration files that you may have to touch.
This will be an uphill battle. Goodluck.
Lots of other things you can do, ping by hotname, check hostfile in case vm is also using it, there are two types of vm installs network or self contained (something like that) - so hostname may be getting masked by vm network environment, definitely SAP has few configuration files where the Server name, db name, license server name, port etc are present, even check for firewall settings etc.

  • Locating Phone w/ Find My iPhone When Login Name Changed on Icloud

My  son had his iPhone 6 stolen and it was registered on Find My iPhone.  About 10 days after it was stolen, while we were periodically monitoring iCloud to see if it ever got turned-on, my son changed his login name & password on iCloud.  So now we has two devices (iPhone 6 & iPad) with the old name on them with corresponding passwords, and his iCloud account with a new name & a new password.
To add perspective on my question, even though the iPad had the old name & old password, it was located on his iCloud Find My iPhone map  & iCloud would indicate when the iPad was turned on or off. Just to confirm, his iCloud account has a new login name & new password.   What I'd like to find out is since there appears to still be a linkage between his iCloud account and his iPad, would it follow that there would continue to be a linkage with his iPhone 6 (old name/old password) and his iCloud account.  If the linkage continues, we would  continue to monitor his iCloud in case the phone gets turned on;  if not, we will of course just have to move on.   Thanks very much for any help with this.

I've learned a lot about Apple Customer Service and this forum through the unfortunate theft of my son's phone.  First of all, the customer service people at Apple are poorly trained.  My first 4 calls during the theft resulted in totally different answers by 4 different people.  One techy from Florida was adamant that we would not receive an email if the stolen phone was connected to the internet via wifi/or 4g.  He, of course, was  completely wrong, and this is about as basic an issue as you can get with Find My iPhone. And I continue to wait, going on close to a week now, for what should have been  a fairly routine question from a "tier 2" or Senior Adviser as they're called, for an answer to our question.
When I stumbled upon this Apple "Support" Community, I was elated.  I thought, at last there's bound to be someone here who could give us some help, perhaps an Apple employee that hangs out here and  tries to "be there" for their customers.  Well, after waiting about 3 days and seeing that over 100 people have read my question, I am frankly surprised that not even one person has offered any help at all!   Based on my personal experiences with the Apple Customer Service Department and this  Apple Support Community, I am not impressed.
I am very familiar with the way a good tech forum works and quickly learned this is not such a forum. I realized I had to go somewhere else to look which I did.  I found another Apple forum (not run by Apple btw),  and I posted the exact same question.   I received a reply within 20 minutes.   I suspect I will receive more throughout the day with the kind of advice and help I was hoping to get through Apple Customer Service and/or this Support Forum.
My reason for posting this comment to your support community  is to let other new people realize there are other much, much better places on the internet to look for help and support with their Apple  problems and issues.
