Changing Mailing Label definition

I've read that you can't change the mail label selected at run time. Other than generating a different report, can you change which label to support at design time?

How can I change the label of iCloud mail in Mail?

I have an iPhone, where the iCloud account in mail is shown as "Name @ iCloud". I've just been setting up a new iPad Air 2 and there in Mail the label shows just as "iCloud". How can I change that label? I've been digging around but haven't found a way.

Most of us just use names for the folders which seems to work fine unless you're not alphabetically inclined.
It really doesn't make much difference who else may want a feature like that, it still isn't going to magically appear. If you wish to submit it as a feature request you can do so here: Feedback.
There aqre third-party programs that may provide a similar function although not colors: DockStar and Mail Badger.

Change field used for Mailing Labels

Hi. I am a new Mac user and I need help with mailing labels. When I print my labels, I want to use a custom field - Label Name - as the first line on the label, rather than the name of the contact. Is there a way to do this? For example, I might have a contact name of Joe Johnson, but I will have The Johnsons as his Label Name for sending holiday cards, etc. I don't want to change all my contact names to these appropriate label names. Is there a way to configure the mailing label to print the custom field rather than the first and last name? Thanks for your help.

I have this same complaint. Prior to Snow Leopard, there was a feature in Address Book that automatically combined the name on an address book entry with a related name (spouse). I used that feature and adjusted my Address Book so that it worked for me. Unfortunately Apple deleted the feature in Snow Leopard without giving a reason or a tenable workaround. See kb article #HT3952 for details.
I imagine the feature was deleted because it was somewhat surprising and confusing. Still it WAS a feature and there IS NO WORKAROUND. I investigated writing an AppleScript, but decided it probably couldn't be done. I ended up printed labels this year using a kludgey mail merge with Microsoft Word. A lot of work and still not fully satisfactory.
Apple, please add a feature to replace the old method!

How can I change the fonts in "contacts" when printing mail labels ? I used to be able to do this but in Mavericks this ability seems to have gone away. Am I missing something ?

Actually in my case it doesn't work. I used to be able to pull up the font window with it but the button merely flickers when I click it. The image selection button and font color both are functional. WEIRD. I don't think this is a Mavericks issue as I recall having it come up with one of my user profiles before installing. Now I can't make it happen with either of my user profiles.
I don't seem to have printing issues in other applications. And I recently reset the fonts in a futile attempt to correct this.
I may post a new topic in Mail Contacts and Calendar if there is no response here after a bit.

When printing mailing labels from Contacts how do I change the label size?

I want to print mutliple labels from a group in Contacts. I can print 20 labels per page but I want to print 14. I have tried every option in the pop up window but nothing lets me change the label size,

Welcome to the HP Support forums. I understand that your print jobs from Photosmart 5520 seems very small.
The font size is controlled by the software program that the document was created in, for example any Microsoft Word document that you send to the printer the font size would have been chosen in Microsoft Word. I've included two different documents on how to change the print settings; one for Mac and one for Windows 8. These documents will show you the process on changing print settings if not the actual steps as you may not be using one of the operating systems mentioned.

Christmas Mailing Labels (format problems) ?

I was unable to use address book to do my Christmas mailing labels on my new mini mac, I ended up having to use my old 1996 PC with the Access program.
After entering all the recipient's names, spouse's names, childrens names and addresses in my mini mac the label would print out like this: Lisa Smith and John and Alicia
Mailing labels are already not as personal as hand writing, but this is really embarrasing. I spent a lot of time entering all of the names in my new mini mac, isn't there some kind of update that will automatically correct this problem? I would like the label to read like this: Lisa, John and Alicia Smith

I not sure I have a definitive answer for you, but wanted to voice that you are not alone in your frustration. I agree that the Address Book label function was very disappointing for Christmas list use.
Some of my labels printed out exactly as you mentioned. However, a few of them printed out like your desired result (Lisa, John, and Alicia Smith). I noticed in my case the ones that printed out with the spouse's name included before the last name were the ones in which I had inadvertantly used complete first and last names in the spouse field (ie "John Smith"). Give that a try, and see if your resultant label changes.
I will warn you though, in my case, Address Book is acting very erratic. Some of the labels left out the information in the "spouse" field entirely. Yes, even though the spouse field was properly present and entered on the Address Book card, the name did not show up on all of the labels. Some did, some didn't. Very embarrassing if I were to send a card to a person and their child, leaving out the spouse. So I had to hand check each label against the information on each Address Book card.
If anyone knows of a way to "rebuild" the Address Book data base to maybe clear up some corruption that could be causing Address Book to sporatically leave out information...or any other solution...please help, and thank you.

HP LaserJet P1006 - Won't print mailing labels

I just got a new computer at work and it won't print my mailing labels. If I create a word document and print, it will print on the label paper, but if the document is a label template, I keep getting a pop-up telling me to insert the correct paper and hit "go". On my old computer I would get this warning, but when I hit "go" it would proceed to print. Now, the printer blinks red (like the job is pending), and then the pop-up comes up again telling me to insert the correct paper again. I have attempted to change the settings in Properties to automatically expect label paper, but I keep getting the same warnings. Please help! I need to resolve this issue because my coworkers will eventually have this same problem as they have all gotten new computers too.

I have looked into the mailing label printing some more and I would suggest posting the issue on the Avery Help Center to see if they can provide a better answer. We've determined the printer will still print, so I do believe the problem is within printing the mailing labels.

Where do I find the Style pop-up menu so I can choose mailing labels?

I've set out below the Help item for printing mailing labels from Address Book but I don't get any Style option with my printer which is a reasonably up to date HP 1200 Laser. Have I got the settings wrong somewhere
To print mailing labels:
Select All or a group in the Group column, or select specific contacts in the Name column.
If contacts in the group you selected have multiple addresses, you can choose which address to use for each contact.
Selecting addresses for group members
Choose File > Print.
Choose Mailing Labels from the Style pop-up menu, and then set other options:
Layout: Choose a type of label from the Page pop-up menus. Select Define Custom to set the page margins and the gutter space between labels, and to specify how many labels to print on a page.
Label: Choose which addresses to use from the Addresses pop-up menu. Choose the order in which to print the labels using the “Print in” pop-up menu. Add a small graphic to the labels by clicking the Image Set button; change the font by clicking the Font Set button.
Click Print.

Assuming you are in Address Book, you choose the records you want to print and then the File/Print menu selection.
If the printer menu comes up with only the name of the printer and "Presets" dropdown choices, you click on the arrow to the right of the printer name to expand the print menu. Make sure the box below the pages to print is showing "Address Book" and you will see the "Style" below it.

How to access custom mailing label templates

I am using Microsoft Word 2010 on a PC and trying to create a custom label modeled after the Avery 5392 Label using the Mailing Label wizard. Can you tell me where these templates are saved? I need to add some color to the bottom of the template.

You don't need an Avery template to create a merge using the Avery 5392 format. 5392 is included in the built-in labels set. However whether you start from a downloaded template or the built in template, the principle

Changing the label name

Hi all,
I am trying to change the label name and the text in text view, when i do the changes in development system its changing, but when i transport the changes to testing system the changes does not reflect, i tried resetting the OTR buffer, still it doesn't work for me.

Yeah i do have a transport request, and the changes are captured by the request,
it does not show any error in import log,
but i solved it, i just deleted the label ui element and then created new, by doing this i got what i want,
but i really dont know why its not changing when i change just the name.

Using addresses, can you print duplicate mailing labels for the same address

using my address book, can I print duplicate mailing labels for the same name and address.

I checked the Address Book Print Dialog and I did not see the option to duplicate a single label.
The only thing you could try is to select the name in your list. Then do Command-P to print which should get you to this dialog box:
Try changing the # of copies and see if that does what you want. Otherwise I'm not sure and your answer may best be found in the Address Book forum on here.
You may not want to incue the expense but Microsoft Word will do what you want.

Having a print problem on a mailing label report using the merge modules.

Crystal Reports 2008 v 12.1.6.1116
when I print directly from Crystal Reports designer, the labels print correctly. If I print the report from our application software using the Crystal merge module, the top of page margin is not the same.
I am using Crystal Report 2008 Fix Pack 1.5 Merge Modules.
Any idea what might be causing this ? I do not see any settings in the CrystalReportViewer that would cause the top of page margin to change.
Note: We were using a previous version of Crystal Reports, version 11 using the merge modules and it worked just fine. After changing to the 2008 merge modules we are running into this problem.

       The mailing label report works just fine printing directly from the Crystal Reports 2008 Design application. However is I try to print the exact same report using the CrystalReportViewer in the merge module, the top of page margin is different. Basically printing from the designer, there is some spacing at the top of the page, printing in the vb.net app the spacing at the time of is missing.

Mailing labels + pages = yikes!

Being able to create your own address book fields so you can instantly drop contact info from your address book is great. But what about creating mailing labels or place settings without having to hand type each individual box (i.e., why address book fields rock)?? If you merge your address book into a pages document or try to drag and drop multiple contacts or select groups, each contact is on an entirely separate page.
Sure, you can drag and drop multiple cards in an "enabled" address book field, but the contact info pops up an additional page each (ex: 3 contacts merged = 3 pages total). What if you like using the address book fields but want to create address labels or placeholder cards all together on ONE page (Like in address book, but more customizable features included with Pages)?? Somebody, anybody please *help me*, I feel like I've tried everything (copying and pasting, changing the field from sender to recipient, carousing the inspector...)! Any tips would be much appreciated.
Make me a believer in address book fields again!

and get the wanted responce.
