Changing margins in numbers

how do you change margins in numbers?

Actually you can change the margins.  I cut-and-pasted this from another thread.

Hi Sammy,
Numbers 3 has lost some features that were great in Numbers 2 (Print View and Layout View). Now we must use File > Print... > Print Setup. But it is now better in Numbers 3.2
Numbers 3.2 has restored some layout features. See the Print Setup panel on the right in Print Preview:
Drag the Print Setup panel up to see Page Margins settings.
Numbers has never had Page Breaks or Print Selection. That is an Excel requirement for Excel's huge sheets.
The Numbers approach is to use separate tables on a "canvas". Each table has a purpose. Input, database, number-crunching, summary. These tables can be on separate sheets. Print only the sheet that is your "presentation".

Ian.

    How do I change the page margins in Numbers 3.0 MacBook Pro App?

    Hi Themonkeycode,
    unless they moved it from where it use to be...
    It has gone in Numbers 3.0 and Numbers 3.1. Maybe it will return in future versions. Please give feedback to Apple:
    Menu > Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback.
    Downloading Numbers 3 did not replace Numbers '09. Unless you deleted it, it is in a folder called iWork '09 inside your Applications folder. It works just as well as it used to.

  • How do I change margins in Numbers?

    How do I change the page margins in the new version of Numbers?

    If your workflow is heavily tied to traditional printing then the new Numbers 3 is not the best tool. It is more suited to collaboration and dynamic presentation on the iPad or on the web, where margins are irrelevant. It's not that iOS is dumb or can't handle margins. It's that there, unlike in print, the viewer can instantly adjust the zoom and surrounding whitespace as desired.
    See this thread on workarounds for ideas on how to deal with some of Numbers 3.0's perceived deficiencies.
    Anybody in the field with iPads will of course find Numbers a far better solution than Excel. Excel doesn't work on the iPad (yet).

  • How do i change margins in numbers in 3.0.1

    How do i change the margins. everything in printing off the page. Why would they take away margins and Print View

    This is seriously stupd (sic) of Melody and extremely frustrating and unfriendly to the users in this forum either looking for or attempting to provide answers to others questions.
    Seriously, Melody, these repeated posts do absolutel nothing to get you closer to a solution of your (Numbers) problem(s). Apple does not actively monitor these discussions. The users who are looking for answers gain nothing from your post. The users seeking to provide answers and checking updated threads get annoyed on reading repeated identical posts from a specific user (and tend to remember that name when there's a question to which they might have a useful answer).
    Find somewhere else to release your frustrations, please.
    If you want to complain to Apple, use the Provide Numbers Feedback to send your message directly to Apple, and request this feature be added/brought back.

  • How do I set margins in Numbers, where did page set up go?

    Since I have upgraded to Mavrick, everything has changed in Pages and Numbers, the main reason I left Microsoft was because of the constantly changing software with each update.  The Inspector is gone and in Numbers the left hand column listing all my tables has disappeared/changed to a row which I have to continuously scroll through.  Arrrrgh!  Is there any way to get that back?  Also . . .   Can anyone tell me where I can find the Page set up or set margins in Numbers?

    Hi 'cat,
    It appears te main push behind the latest 'upgrade'to the iWork applications was to provide compatibility/similarity between the iOS versions and the Mac versions. A lot of features were lost in the change, some of which have made theri way back into Numbers 3, etc., others that are scheduled to be brought back, and still others for which there's been no indication.
    Inspector functions are now handled via the formatting button (paint brush), as well as the button bar that appears when a cell is selected.
    With the greater focus on iOS, features pertaining to printing to paper have been largely forgotten. There's no way I'm aware of to set document margins in  Numbers 3.
    The features you mention are still available in Numbers 2.3, which will, if you had it installed earlier, still be on your Mac. You'll find it in a folder named iWork '09, located in the Applications folder.
    Any document you've opened in and saved from Numbers 3 will need to be re-opened in N3 and Exported as a Numbers '09 document before it can be opened in Numbers '09, and may be missing some features not supported in Numbers 3.
    While its probably not a long-term solution, returnng to Numbers '09 may provide an interim fix while waiting for N3 to get the updates you need.
    Meantime, add your voice to the rest requesting the reinstatement of any features you consider essential. Use the Provide Numbers Feedback item in the Numbers menu to make your request.

    Barry

  • My wife and I want to swap her 4s for my 4 while a take a short trip out of the country.  We use the same email address for itunes but different for email.  Can we just change our phone numbers and email addresses so we get our own messages?

    My wife and I want to swap her iphone 4s for my iphone 4 while I take a short trip out of the country.  We use the same itunes account but have different email accounts.  Can we just change our phone numbers with our carrier and change email addresses on our phones so we get correct messages, with out disturbing our other apps?

    The email is simple. Just delete her email acoount on her iPhone and configure your account into the phone and then do the same for her on your phone.
    The harder issue is that to switch the cellular phone service you will need to switch the SIM cards and the two phones do not use the same size SIM card.

  • Is there a way to change the image numbers in a file in Aperture?

    Is there a way to change the image numbers in a file in Aperture? We shoot with two photographers and so the img numbers are not in order but I would like to have the photos in chronological order on the disc when I give it to them. Does anyone know how to do this? I have them all in order ready to go in Aperture but when I move them to the disc to be burned they default back to the img number order. Thanks for your help!

    What do you mean by "image number"? The file names like "IMG_7822.CR2" or "IMG_7822.jpg"?
    You can create custom names with appended numbers, when you export your image files to be saved on a disk.
    Sort your images by date in the browser, select them, then use the command "File > Export > Version" to write the files to the disk. Set the name format to "Custem Name with Index" or "Custom Name with Counter" to create numbered names in your current sort order.

  • [JS][CS3] Change "Start Peg Numbering at:""

    Hello,
    I have a big problem on many InDesign Books with approx. 158 files each. In fact I have cut the InDesign files of approx. 400 pages in 158 files with 2 or 4 pages each but when I cut my reference document it was configured with "Start Page Numbering at:" set to "1."
    Now I have 158 files with this option ("Start Page Numbering at:" set to "1."), my question it is possible by a script to change all the files of the book with the "Automatic Page Numbering" option selected, as is "Continue from Previous Document in the Book."
    With a such script I will win a lot of time on this operation and I'm not motivated to do this file by file.
    Thanks

    Here you are. Works on CS.
    if (app.books.length != 1)
      alert ("Slow Reader Alert!\nI can only work on one book at a time.");
      exit(0);
    for (doc=0; doc<app.books[0].bookContents.length; doc++)
      a_document = app.open (app.books[0].bookContents[doc].fullName);
      a_document.sections[0].continueNumbering = true;
      a_document.close(SaveOptions.YES);
    It's really straightforward. Line by line:
    You can have zero, or more than one book open. For simplicity, this script works on one and only one opened book.
    Eh. Group brace.
    Well. Speaks for itself.
    All done, bye bye.
    .. another group brace. This is going slower than I thought.
    Ah! A book contains an array objects of type "BookContent", which holds file name, creation date, and status (i.e., if the document needs updating). Its length is equal to the number of documents in the book, one per file.
    .. group brace ..
    (snore) oh, sorry. "Open this document". Yep.
    All documents have at least one section; the first is hardcoded to start at the first page. Since this is Javascript, it's section #0. The 'continueNumbering' is just a boolean value, yes or no: "If true, continues page numbers sequentially from the previous section."
    Close, save when necessary. This just means that if the document was not changed (because the numbering was allright), it won't be saved, just as in the user interface.
    Finally, the final closing brace.
    That's it.
    Really.
    (I could go on all day, y'know...)

    How can I set document margins in Numbers version 3.0 ?

    Hi Adj,

    Hints on workarounds here:

    In particular,
    Try Alignment Guides and Rulers as suggested here:
    Print View workarounds
    Numbers has never had Page Breaks. The Numbers approach is to have several tables, each with a purpose. For example, an input table, a number crunching table, and a "Presentation" table to summarise results.
    If your quotation runs to six pages, perhaps you could have 6 tables designed so that each fits within a layout guide:
    Layout Guide for Numbers
    Option 2, if you previously had Numbers 2.3 (Numbers '09) it now lives in a folder called iWork '09 inside your Applications folder. It works just as well as it used to, and has a proper Print View.
    Option 3, copy and paste your table to Pages where I believe the layout is easier to arrange (maybe).

  • HT3384 How do I change margins and header footers on a pages document?

    Hi can anyone help me on how do I change margins and header / footers on a pages document?
    Many thanks

    Oddly, when one enters text that is a paragraph string longer than the width of the the page, the text doesn't wrap. There seems to be something a bit wonky with the margins, but perhaps it's something else. I fiddled with styles to see if I could control it, but to no avail. I'm giving up and boing back to '09. Each time I think I'll switch to iWork 5, I encounter some other restrictive feature that sends me scurrying back to '09.

  • Change margins + object move with margins

    Hello!
    We have a catalogue with 300+ pages!
    Margins size for that catalogue are:
    Top: 18 mm
    Bottom: 18 mm
    Indise: 12,7mm
    Outside: 12.7 mm
    Margins Inside and outside must to be change to 20 and 15 mm
    After i change the margins, the objects(incl. contet, tables, text.... etc) is not move with new margins size!
    Enable Layout adjusment.. it is not working like I want.
    How can i change Margins and all object to move with new margins size?
    Thank you in advance!

    If the objects are not currently snapped to guides they will not move reliably. If they are all athe same distance from the current margins, however you can, with Layout Adjustment off, change the margins so they snap, then enable layout adjustment and change the margins to where you really want them.
    Other than that, you need to do your moving object-by-object. If they all need to move the same amount it's probably scriptable, and you should ask in the scripting forum for help: InDesign Scripting

  • Photos recently changed from sequential numbering to date/timestamp.  When I import into apps for editing they are out of order.  What can be done to change back to sequential numbering instead of date/timestamp?

    Photos recently changed from sequential numbering to date/timestamp.  When I import into apps for editing they are out of order.  What can be done to change back to sequential numbering instead of date/timestamp?

    The date information is taken from the camera which writes it to the file. This needs to be set to the correct date and time in the camera itself.
    The order the images are shown in the Library mode is set by clicking on the sort button in the tool bar, which if not showing can be activated from view, tool bar. There are different sort orders that can be applied including sorting by file name. You can also sort by dragging the images to the order you wish them to appear in by selecting user order.

  • How to set page margins in Numbers 3

    I just migrated from MS Excel after decades of use. I can't find out how to set page margins using the new Numbers 3 version. I believe I've exhausted all reference materials and the most relevant was an method in Numbers 8 & 9... both of which have a different top menu selection.  The answer is probably right in front of me and simple as it sometimes happens when learning new software...

    Hi caforestfire,
    There is no direct equivalent to page margins in Numbers 3.0. It's more oriented toward sharing on the web and on iPad screens than toward traditional printing.
    However, there are ways to achieve the effect of margins.  The idea is to first position your content (tables, charts, etc) on the canvas of a sheet, using rulers and guides if you want (you can drag the rulers onto the canvas to help in placement):
    Then you File>Print and in Print Preview fiddle with the slider until you get the white space you want around your content:
    Then click Print.
    For many purposes it works quite well. It's just a different approach from what we're used to in Excel, and the old Numbers 2.3.
