Changing/Masking of URL

Hi,
Can I change the URL of an application hosted on the Oracle HTMLDB workspace? If so, please let me know the details of how to do it. I'm thinking of volunteering/developing an application for my child's daycare facility.

As Scott points out, the free hosting provided by Oracle isn't meant to be used for Production (or prototyping) of applications, it's meant (correct me if I'm wrong Scott) for evaluating the benefits of HTMLDB, a way for users to see if it fits their needs without having to go through the installation themselves.
My post showed how you can "mask" the URL by altering the Apache configuration, this feature will not be available to you using Oracle's hosting, you will need to find another hosting company to do that for you.

This would be security through obscurity which is a bad idea.
Don't worry about masking the message. Instead, check the
permissions of the
message on the server before returning it to the browser.
If you can't/don't want to do that, at the very least you
could use server
sessions to pass the info instead rather than querystrings.

Masking the URL of a Report

Hi,
I've integrated an oracle report with my application (built using apex 2.2). The url however displays the database instance username and password. Is there any way to mask these details of the URL.

Thanks for the suggestion. This is the first time i'm integrating an oracle report with htmldb and have a requirement to mask the url.
Could you please give me the steps to put the username/password@db-instance into the cgicmd.dat file.Also what are the changes that need to be made in the URL that we put in htmldb to invoke the report if the cgicmd.dat file has the username/password and db-instance.

Podcast is having issues since I changed the feed url

Ever since I changed the feed url for my podcast in itunes I have problems with the feed not working properly.

When I try to download random files or episodes in this podcast it wont download in itunes. I get an error code (-50) saying it could be a network problem. But if I go to the direct feed url which is this in safari browser. I can click on the mp3 link and it plays just fine. Then after doing that I can go back into itunes and click "get" on the exact same file that wasnt downloading earlier and now it downloads. Very odd. Once that is done all files in itunes download without any problems. I thought it was just something wrong with my itunes. But it only happens for my feed when I subscribe to it. I tried it on my windows system in itunes and having the exact same problem. I called a couple people up and its happeing with them in itunes also. When one of us accesses the feed by way other than itunes it will then work for awhile then go back to not working again. It started happening when I changed the url in itunes to have it point to the feedburner url. Im having the issue right now as a matter of fact. I cant even listen to the preview of each episode. Maybe someone can try the itunes feed and check it out for me. Any ideas?
Its frustrating. Im wondering if I need to just submit a new podcast to itunes.
PS: I posted this in itunes for windows, Im using both mac and windows. Its not specific to either OS.

Im pretty sure the problem has been resolve. We own both the .org and the .com extensions of our website. The primary being the .org and a redirect if a user goes to the .com address. I use feeder to create the podcast feeds and it has an autofill feature in it. Somewhere along the line on the enclosures I inputed the .com address instead of .org. Why the redirect works just fine in most feed readers. Apparently itunes doesnt support it. One of the users in the feedburner forum picked up on this. I corrected all the enclosure urls to .org as they should be and everything so far works fine.

When changing "browser.newtab.url" is there any way to prevent the address bar from getting focus?

When I change "browser.newtab.url" to about:home and open a new tab, focus is set to the address bar not the search box on the firefox home page. The same thing happens if i change the url to google.com or another search engine. Is there any way to prevent this from happening.

Custom new Tab has a small bug if the start page is exactly the same as the new tab page. Then the focus of the start page is on the address bar. Just leave the "www." out in the startpage and use "www." in the new tab page then it works perfectly. e.g.
Startpage: google.com
new Tab page : www.google.com
Now the focus of the start page is on the search box.

Is there a way to remove the changes to the URL Bar, specifically the status information and the target URL?

To begin, I utterly despise the changes to the URL Bar and the removal of the Status bar. In order to stay with the latest version of Firefox I am attempting to recreate the look and feel as best I can.
I have already installed the Status-4-Evar extension. The only thing that remains is to remove the status information and the target URL from the bar.
Are there any settings in about:config that will allow me to make these changes?
EDIT: Status information can be removed by toggling. status4evar.statusInUrlBar. Still looking for a way to remove the target URL...

Changing Internal & External URLs?

We run split DNS so right now for all services the internal and external Exchange 2010 URLs are simply set to mail.domain1.com.
If I change them to mail.domain2.net, assuming there is a valid cert on the Exchange box for mail.domain2.net, and assuming that split DNS points mail.domain2.net to the internal/external IP of the Exchange box, new clients should pick up the new domain.
What happens to existing clients i.e. Outlook and ActiveSync?
Will they continue to use mail.domain1.com until the account is removed and added again, or do they do a periodic refresh/update/poll of which setting to use?
In particular would the URL used by Outlook Anywhere be updated on the client automatically?

Changing the Site URL of a Sharepoint site changes the content type order

Description
Changing the Site URL of a Sharepoint site changes the content type order of all lists that
* contain folder content types
* and have a custom content type order
* where a folder content type is the first content type in order.
Reproducible behaviour
1. Create a Team Site in Sharepoint
2. Create a Task List "Test" on the Team Site
3. Go to List Settings
4. The Content Type order is by default
    a. Task
    b. Summary Task
5. Change the Content Type Order to
    a. Summary Task
    b. Task
6. Go To Site Settings "Title, description and icon"
7. Change the Site Url
8. Go To List "Test" List Settings
9. The Content Type order now is
    a. Task
    b. Summary Task
10. Select "Change New button order and default content type"
11. Here, the Content Type order still is
    a. Summary Task
    b. Task
Is this a bug? Has anyone noticed this behaviour before?

Hi Joachim,
You are not missing something or doing something wrong. i Hope :). This behavior is reproductible.
The granularity of change is better by Powershell. But by the interface is most user-friendly.
Maybe that's the reason of this behavior.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Changing Exchange OWA URL, and MX record

Hi all,
We are planning to change our Exchange OWA URL from "https://webmail.saigon.com" to "https://webmail.city.saigon.com"
My question is Do I need to do anything to the MX record? The Exchange server name and IP remain the same. Only the URL get changed for the internal, and external.

Thank you for your question.
If we want to change Exchange OWA URL from https://webmail.saigon.com into https://webmail.city.saigon.com for internal and external, we must modify the following items:
1. MX record
We could ask to our ISP for help.
2. Exchange certificates
We could remove the old exchange certificate and resign a new certificate for Exchange server.
3. Re-configure virtual directory URL (OWA,OAB,ECP.EWS,ActiveSync,Autodiscover)

Absolute URLs being changed to relative URLs

(Using DreamWeaver CS3)
DreamWeaver keeps changing the Absolute URLs for this site's
Flash menu into relative links which crashes the menu. Does anyone
know how to stop this?
The Flash menu source code is hard-coded into the DW Template
file within OBJECT tags.
Note: I have the following option checked (it's the default) -

Changing Hibernate - connection URL after startup in LCDS

Hi,
I have a flex app that have different databases (names) with the same tables.
I want to dynamically change the database url in hibernate (or hibernateassmebler used in data destination) based on the customer.
(example. xyz company will have xyz database in mysql)
While I know it is possible to have assembler run-time configuration and change it using remoting, I am wondering if there is any solution to change Assembler hibernate-db-configuration (like by extending it..) on demand. (for destinations that are already written in the data-management.xml file).
If not, it poses a large inflexibility.

Programmically change trace database URL NI HyperTrend

Hello,
I would like to be able to programmically update/change the URL for the traces in the activegroup of my NI HyperTrend while the program is running. The reason I want to accomplish this is because the program automatically create a new database then updates the library properties to point to the new database. The NI HyperTrend no longer will plot the current data since the data is no longer logged there. So I need to change the database URL of ITrace2 properties to the new database.
Attached is a bmp file which shows the block diagram of what I think should be how this is done. I get an -2147417851 error of which I don't understand. Please Advise, thank you.

Manually change ReportServer / ReportManager URL's in SSRS2014?

Normally, ReportServer / ReportManager are managed via the SSRS configuration tool. In our case, SSRS custom auth modifications will be pushed with a deployment automation tool (config files, dll's, etc). If the URL reservations are changed
in rsreportserver.config, is their a corresponding netsh command that I can run to reflect the changes? Ideally, this will be done by our deployment automation tool so config file and https.sys reservatoins are kept in sync.

Change the redirect URL sent to reverse proxy

Hi all,
My system is composed of a reverse proxy(Apache 2.046) and a backend webserver (Oracle HTTP Server).
To connect to a web application on the back end web server, the Internet user connect to reverse proxy via HTTPS and the reverse proxy forward the request to backend webserver via HTTP.
Example :
Internet user type :
https://myreverseproxy/myWebApp
The reverse proxy translate this to :
http://mybackendserver/myWebApp
The problem is myWebApp do a redirect like this:
http://myreverseproxy/myWebApp/login.jsp
How can I config the reverse proxy to change the redirect URL to :
https://myreverseproxy/myWebApp/login.jsp

That is working fine.. Only thing i did is mapping node to /author . But is it possible to hit the author instance only wen i type http://localhost:4502/author . Ie: if I type http://localhost:4502 it should not resolve to my login page
