Changing Master outputs

I've had this problem for ages and its driving me crazy. I'm using a MOTU 2408 MK3 for my audio ins/outs. In Logic the default outputs for the master out is set for analog outputs 1/2. I want to switch this to spidif out 1 but when I open up Audio Configuration and select All Components their is no output that I can select for the master outs.
Most of the time I can work around this unless I need to bounce something to the computer, then I have to switch everything to analog outputs 1/2 which is a big problem because I am using the 8 analog in/outs on this card as effect sends/returns for the various outboard gear I have.
Am I missing something obvious here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

3 does have spidif and no it is not mirrored to the
analog outputs 1/2. Maybe both of these are true in
earlier versions of the 2408 but I can assure you
that this is not the case with my version.

Now,that you mentioned that you are using outputs 1+2 as reverb sends,you might want to change that.I've never seen anyone use those outputs,on ANY machine,for anything other than the mix outputs.The reason manufacturer's mirror the outputs 1+2 to SPDIF and AES on many machines,including Motu AND Digidesin,is so that one can connect a digital 2-track for mixdown,without having to re-route anything in the machine.It is convenient for 90% of engineers out there.
If you need more I/O,then,when you can,you might want to get another Motu box to get 16 analog inputs/outputs.that is what I would do in your case.It sounds like a lot of money "wasted" but in the end you'll be able to mix down to analog AND digital formats better,and easier.
I'm personally putting a studio together,and will have 16 channels of Apogee,so I can also use multiple outputs to a mixer and hardware reverbs.But I am going to use the analogue boards sends and returns to keep all 16 I/Os free for recording and mixing.

Change Master Output

I can't seem to find this info anywhere in the manual. I am new to Logic, having just switched from many years using Nuendo. I am using an M-Audio 1814 as my interface.
My question is, how do I switch the master output. Say I'm recording with the master out coming through headphones and then want to hear everything through the loud speakers...how do i di that without manually changing every track?
Your help is greatly appreciated. I have a session tomorrow and this is an essential piece of info!

It's a little different in Logic than Nuendo, but there ARE relatively simple ways to achieve what you're after. I sure wish Apple would add something Cubase/Nuendo's "Control Room" section to Logic...
However, here's a primer on the way it works here and now in the real world of 8.02
The "output" faders in Logic's mixer are directly tied to their hardware destinations. Thus you have a 'master out 1-2' fader that corresponds to your interfaces 'main' outs. If your headphones are connected, for example, to outputs 3-4, there should also be a stereo output fader to represent that.
So how to quickly switch between monitoring on headphones or main speakers?
Well, in most studios you want the flexibility to have a different 'cue mix' on headphones and the 'main master mix' that goes to the outputs, right? So you set up a "headphone bus", which is just an aux channel with it's "output" set to wherever your headphones are (let's say 'outs 3-4').
Then, you can either assign a 'headphone bus send' to each channel in your mixer, (just like on a real mixer), and/or put headphone sends on each of your submix aux channels. I have 8 submixes for vox, backingvox, guitars, drums, percussion, keys, etc. And 8 more effects busses. Each of them has a 'headphone send' which defaults to 12'oclock, which gives me a good headphone mix to start. If I want more or less of any thing, then i can use either the individual channel 'headphone send' or the submix bus sends... Make sense-ish?
But all of that is still really a separate 'headphone mix' and 'master mix' situation.
If I want to monitor the 'real' mix on headphones, I do one of two things. 1 - my MOTU interface has a headphone out which mirrors the master outs. I plug my phones in there and turn down the master output volume. Or 2 - Don't assign any channels or busses to the "master output". Instead route them all to a "master bus". And then assign THAT bus to the master outs. Why?
Well, just remember that the 'master out 1-2' fader represents the physical output itself. It is NOT assignable. But a bus/aux is. So if you send everything to a an aux first, then you have a situation more like what you're familiar with from Nuendo. Now you can either switch the output of your 'master bus' to any physical outputs you want (headphone out, alternate speakers, etc), or you can use 'bus sends' on the new 'master bus' to send the main mix to headphones, alternate speakers, etc.
Hope that's clear enough. It sounds more complicated than it is, and once you make this part of your basic recording template, it's not something you have to think about ever again. It just becomes part of your basic workflow.
I like having a 'master bus' that is then routed to the main outputs, because then - if you put plugins on the master bus, instead of the 'physical' output, it's easier to switch plugs on and off, or have certain tracks bypass the 'master' plugs and go direct to the outputs. This comes in handy when you're creating stems, for example, or want the kick drum to rise above everything else and not get pulled down by the 2-bus compressor for example.

How do I change a 5.1 master output to stereo?

I'm working on a project at the moment in which, for some reason, we've managed to set up a 5.1 surround master output, but we only want stereo. How do I change the master output to a 2 channel format?
Incidentally, and for future reference on this subject of 5.1, is anybody out there using Logic 9 with Pro Tools LE hardware (I've got a 003 Rack+) ? Does the surround configuration work as flawlessly as the 8 input/2 channel output settings so far appear to?

David, I've had this happen before, you have to go through every channel in the mixer and look closely, something is in surround mode...some instrument or effect or something. Get rid of that or change it to stereo and your master will go back to normal....

Error Message Translation, Please: Master Output Has Been Reset?

Can anyone help me understand the following Audition 3 error message? I couldn't find anything in Adobe's help system and there's remarkably little about it out on The Google. Thanks.
The output device Xonar Essence STX bit-perfect A specified in the session is not currently available. The Master output has been automatically reset to the currently available default port. You will need to change the outputs on tracks and busses manually to the ports available on the new device to hear all output.
Confusing thing is, I don't know what "bit-perfect A" is and I don't recall changing it.

I'm having the same prob. can brows itunes but can't login. I also can't access the mac software updater. My iphone can't DL anything when I'm using wireless but works fine using 3G. It seems to only have happend since I updated to 3.0 OS and 10.5.7 on my imac(which was done on the same day. Is it possible that its that new security on .7 and 3.0 don't support my router setting? its werid because I can surf the web, play games etc. but can't do anything apple related

Is GB's Master Output restricted to channels 1 + 2 ?

When using an audio interface with multiple channels, I can't get Garageband to output to any set of channels other than 1 and 2.
Is this a limitation in Garageband?
Am I doing something wrong?
Can I send GB's Master Output to channels 9+10 instead?
I've tried changing the global "speaker" output of the interface in Audio/Midi Setup to channels 9 + 10, but Garageband still seems to be outputting on channels 1 + 2.
Ideas?

Problem in Creation of Change Master Record in CC01 (ECM)

its due to the number ranges that is specified in the partner determination ... chech what is the number range assigned in the parner determination ,,, so once u check that u have to manually enter the number between that range only .. this should solve ur problem...
path to check the number range is as below :
spro-img-logistic generalbusiness partner-customers---define account groups and field selection ---
at this point click position button at the bottom and give ur account group .. select ur account group and click detail button .. now inside that u can see the specified number range .. dafault is 08 ( means u can specify between 400000 to 499999)..
and some times u may not have defined number range... check urs and create accordingly ... this should solve ur problem...

We customized the code in FNDRSRUN.fmb, But we are not able to get the output in RTF format.
Our requirement is to display the report output in .rtf or .xls(Not required to defaultly as .rtf or .xls).
we are getting the following error.
"The XML page cannot be displayed

How to change the output as text format in Apps R12.1.3

Hi All,
Currently iam trying to modify the Java Concurrent Program (FDExtractAndFormatting) in Batch Payment Process. This Program is generated in text format in 11i APPS. Now we are upgrading to R12.1.3. In R12.1.3 output is coming as PDF format. Here my requirement is how to change the output as text format in R12.1.3 also.
Please do the needful and suggest me.

1. It is seeded java concurrent program. Some attributes are missing from 11i to R12. In 11i it is a text format.So i have to investgate on how to retrive those attributes in R12. What is the concurrent program name?
Have you tried to change the output and submit the request?
2. Once all are attributes are coming in PDF format. Client wants to open same output in text format as it is 11i (In R12 it is generated in PDF format).If the above does not help, please log a SR.

I am trying to create a master password on a new machine, but all I get when I hit enter is this message: "Unable to change Master Password".

Pretty much as per the question, when I try and set up a master password, the error message says "Unable to change Master Password". There isn't one to start with, so I'm just wanting to set one for the first time.

Did you copy any files from another computer to the profile folder on that new computer?
Do you already have saved passwords?
*Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
If you haven't then try to delete the key3.db file and possibly logins.json and signons.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder.
Note that all saved passwords are lost when you delete these files.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

ECM: Change Master Record in Production Order

Hi
I have created a Change Master Record and made change to the BOM with respect to that change master record.
Now I want the Change master record (Eg. 001) to be visible in the production order (Master Data tab) when the production order is created.
Also, I would like to know if I can change the change master record (to say, 002) in the Production order so that the BOM with respect to that particular Change master record is selected.

I think at the time of creating Change master record u haven't maintained the Object types.
In that View u have to maintain Tick at the check box of Actv., Object & MgtRec of Object types-- Bill Of Material & Task List.
This will resolve your problem of Change Master Record Display at the time of Production order Creation at View of Master Data.

Change Build Output Filename for SSIS Project

I have a Visual Studio 2010 solution (TxMExtractLoad) with two SSIS projects: TxMExtractLoad.Discovery and TxMExtractLoad.Contract1. The project name (in project properties) is set to the proper two-part name in each project. However, when I
do a "Build", the generated .ispac file loses the second part of the project name: both projects build to "TxMExtractLoad.ispac" (in different directories, fortunately).
I can see where I can change the output *path* for the build, but not the output *filename*.
Any help, anyone?

Came across this post whilst encountering the same issue and thought i would post the solution i discovered
The ispac will get its name from the Name defined in the project properties minus whatever is following the final name part
Therefore, your SSIS package of TxMExtractLoad.Discovery will become TxMExtractLoad.ispac
If you change the name in project properties to something like TxMExtractLoad.Discovery.myProject
or TxMExtractLoad.Discovery..ispac then when you build it it will build as TxMExtractLoad.Discovery.ispac

Trying to link large file to email. keep getting asked for master pw to security device. I have changed master pw on firefox and TB but still same response.

I have tried over and over to send this large file. I've never synced before so i got that all set up. Then asking for master passwork to security device. Don't think I had ever set up an account so did that and created password. When trying to send the email I ask to link it goes to 'box' and I authorize thunderbird to use use it. then it ask for master password and I type that in and it doesn't work. I have reset master pw for firefox and thunderbird and still can't get it to work. I really don't know what I am doing here so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It contained some information about what to do if TB keeps asking for a 'Master Password' which was never set. This was an old bug that was resolved years ago, so it is surprising you are getting it assuming the Thunderbird Master Password was never set.
However, your comments are confusing because they are conflicting; in your question you say:

This implies you set a master password in Thunderbird and changed it, but in last comment you say you never defined it:

At no point does it say uninstall Mozilla Thunderbird program, so I do not know why you would do it. Uninstalling the Program has nothing to do with your Profile for very obvious reasons.

The AppData folder is folder is a hidden folder; to show hidden folders, open a Windows Explorer window and choose "Organize → Folder and Search Options → Folder Options → View (tab) → Show hidden files and folders".
Assuming your Profile was stored in the default place, it can be located here:
* C:\Users\Windows user name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\Profile name\
Thunderbird must be closed before doing anything in the Profile folders.
If you have since reinstalled Thunderbird, you can also use it to get quick access to your Profile folders.
In Thunderbird
* Help > Troubleshooting Information
* click on 'show folder' button

How to change the output directory of .xml files

There are lots of .xml files generated under
$ORACLE_AS_HOME/j2ee/home/applications/xmlpserver/xmlpserver/xml.
(ex:/usb/bipub3/oracle/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/applications/xmlpserver/xmlpserver/xml).
I found these files are generated in the following operation;
1.Log in BI Publisher.
2.Select the Schedules tab.
I think they are kind of temp files so we will be able to delete them.
But I'd like to know how to change the output directory.
Can we change the above directory to other path?

Why? As that may invalidate support since you configure/alter the deployment.
The location is specified in oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\xmlpserver\xmlpserver.war, so you could go into the war file and alter it.

You can go to Build >> Target Settings menu item, select Release (or Release 64) in the Configuration filed and set the name of the executable to create in Application FIle field, withouyt need to change the prj or cws filename.
