Changing Metadata

Hi all ODI Gurus,
I have reverse engineered a table in ODI. say tab_a
Subsequently I drop the table in the database and create a table say 'tab_b', which is the same as 'tab_a'.
In ODI model, I just change the name of the object from 'tab_a' to 'tab_b'.
Now when I open the interface that was designed using 'tab_a', displays the source as tab_a(tab_b) i.e. Original_Name (New_Name).
Does anyone know how to get around this without deleting the object (tab_a) from ODI model and importing the definition for tab_b ?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I donot know if Oracle would support this, but a possible workaround is to goto the Work Repository and update the SNP_TABLE and change the values in RES_NAME table to reflect tab_b.
Please MAKE SURE that you take a good backup of the work repositories before making any changes to it manually.
Donot try this on Production quality repositories.

  • ITunes 11.2.1 is unable to change metadata

After this recent update of iTunes to version 11.2.1 I'm no longer able to change metadata of any MP3 file without that the spinning ball takes an infinity spinning tour. I have to kill the iTunes process. Befor this update I changed mass of files through iTunes media information dialog. There was never a problem.
My files are on an external Windows Server 2012 R2 share and I use SMB1 (CIFS) for access. The underlaying file system is NTFS but that was never a problem. The current logged on user has ownership of all files. And in fact, I can create, change or delete any file through Finder. But now iTunes is not able to change one of this files metadata without going to nirvana.
If Apple has changed the underlaying right system of iTunes they have done something wrong.
    Has anybody a suggestion?

I have the same issue with a mac mini 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.4.  I am using the mac mini headless and screen sharing using my macbook (same OS and software) The album covers are visible on grid but not on coverflow.  I can also see the covers when using iPhone remote to control itunes on the mini...
Tried reinstalling safari as recommended by another answer, changing display res hasnt helped.

  • Changing metadata on item belonging to folio in workflow

I have a need to change value in metadata field of a content item that is in folio which has to pass some workflow.
So, I have a step in workflow in which i have to change metadata value ie. xStatus of content item which is added to folio by search. So it is available in the content server, but I wonder how can I point to the exact metadata field while in folio in workflow (which parameters do I have to give)?
There are many documents in the folio, and some others can have xStatus metadata also, but I have to change it only on one document that belongs to folio (preferably by the slot that document in question is checked into folio).
If it was about single document in workflow, I'd just use
    <$wfUpdateMetaData("xStatus", "something")$>
but i can't find the way to point to the exact metadata field of an item that is in folio
I'm using advanced folio and criteria workflow, if that info helps.
    Thanks in advance for help.

When you are having problems with a site - consider weather between you and it and amount of traffic (time of day).
Bad weather can cause problems with a connection as it travels on the information highway - hazard a guess all traffic that went through Buffalo is being routed elsewhere.
Bad weather can slow down handshake etc to the point of requiring too many resends - so Ibook is timing you out.

  • How to move photos edited in Lightroom 2 from external hard drive to Lightroom 5 without losing changes/metadata made in Lightroom 2?

I had images processed in Lightroom 2 on an old PC that crashed, but were backed to external hard drive. I now have a Macbook Pro with Lightroom 5. When I import the photos from the hard drive the editing/metadata I added in Lightroom 2 are not there. Is there a way to bring the photos in with the changes made in Lightroom 2 or do I have re-edit the photos? The odd thing is when I go into the folders on the Lacie back-up and open a photo (that I know I edited) into Photoshop CS5 there are no changes.

Yes, that is a backup of your LR2 catalog file. You need to find the most recent one available (obviously, that backup was made on 2013-04-09), and then copy it to a hard drive on your computer (internal or external) but not a network drive, and then open it in Lightroom 5. You should see that all of your photos have a place in the grid, but won't have a thumbnail and there may be a question mark icon on each folder.
To fix the question mark on each folder, please read: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders and then the thumbnails will appear as well

  • Media managment when changing metadata

I've been using iTunes to manage my media library (Using Windows 7) but have realized that for many cases (about 1000 songs) iTunes hasn't changed capitalization of file names or paths where the metadata has been changed within iTunes - This is causing me a big problem (trying to copy my library to case-sensitive operating system)
Is there a way to have iTunes automatically fix either it's library or the file names/paths so that they are case-sensitive/correct? (As it's over a 1000 songs this would obviously take a long time manually!)
Thanks very much for any help

As long as you are happy with the tag information then it really doesn't matter what the files themselves are called as, in general, you'll be using an application to access the media, not the filing system. The one exception might be if you are using a 3rd party media player, like my old iRiver H140, which has an interface based on the file system instead of the media tags.
That aside I like full control of how things are organised too. Do you need the XML to be correct, as this is only used by 3rd party software, or is it enough to have the filenames correct in Explorer? If all you want to correct is some capitalisations, then various 3rd party tagging or file management tools might be able to achieve this. Provided it is only the case of a few letters that has changed then iTunes will still be able to access the file. However it gets more complex if, like me, you want to have full length file and folder names for artists/albums/tracks with more than 35 characters or control character substitution for characters which are not permitted in filenames. Change any of this outside iTunes and it will no longer be able to find the file. You then have to manually relink the files one-by-one or remove and reimport. The first way is too much effort for all but a small number of files, the second means discarding any volatile iTunes metadata such as ratings, play counts and date added information, which may or may not be an issue in your particular case.
Until recently I've been removing & reimporting using MediaMonkey for the renames (don't let it grab the file associations if you decide to install it) as it has some nice tools for renaming files based on their tags. Lately however I've been using my own script which manages the links in iTunes and thus maintains all the iTunes specific metadata. I've released a few of my scripts at http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/scripts.asp but I don't think this one is robust enough for general release yet. Hopefully I'll get it to that point in the next week or so...

  • Can't change metadata, keywords, colors

In Bridge of CS3.  I have tried purging cache, resetting to default workspace, and automatically exporting cache to folder when possible.
The problem cropped up recently.  I was able to add date, location etc to thousands of recent files, but now I am finding files all over that can't be updated thus.  There seems no pattern, I was adding colors to a lot in a folder and then many would not accept it.  The same files would accept a rating.  I couldn't change the description on a whole batch that was misnamed, nor could I delete the old one.
some other strange behavior.  All added metadata disappeared from some.  And on some RAW files with added dates, that is lost in a created tiff.
Some tiffs have the modified date instead of the original created date in the info under the thumbnail, which is set for file name, created date and size.
I have gone to folder properties and changed from read only if set. but it doesn't affect all files in a folder
the message is "There was an error writin metadata to [file name here]"
Sometimes the RAW file is unchangeable but its tiff is, other times neither.
This is all from the IPTC core.  If I go into file info in Photoshop I can change, I just discovered.

As with almost all my problems, there is apparently no solution, so I am going to try reinstalling photoshop. So can someone at least tell me what is likely to be overwritten so that I can protect it.  And where they are stored? EG Web Gallery templates?  Keywords?

  • Am I the only one that wants iTunes to change metadata?

Is there any way where I can get iTunes match to change my metadata? Most of my songs have inconsistant capilization and spelling errors and stuff like that. Is there a setting to change so itunes will change the metadata to what is listed on the itunes store? I really could care less if it might end up in a few errors... Otherwise, i think itunes match is great. Its 25 dollars, I dont understand why there are so many complaints. About 1000 of my 1700 song collection were matched and the rest uploaded in less than an hour and a half.

I'd LOVE that ability as well. I have a lot of old CD's I ripped, and some of the GraceNote data was messed up. I think I've fixed it pretty well, but I'd rather have the consistency of the metadata from the iTunes store.

  • Switching from IPhoto to Aperture: will changes/metadata be transferred?

I have spent a lot of time editing, adding titles and the correct dates to more than 25.000 old pictures that I had scanned/digitalised. These, obviously, did not have the correct date but the date when they were digitalised. I did this in IPhoto by using 'batch change'. Now am I stuck to IPhoto forever or will all these changes be transferred if I switch to Aperture for instance? Or will Aperture or any other Photo-application only work with the original that a Mac always keeps?

If I wanted to keep them within iphoto - but to write the faces & places tags right into the Jpeg metadata - I could export and re-import to iphoto ?
Seems like a laborious and space and time consuming way to get faces and places tags written to the underlying jpegs!
    Any other options ?

  • Change Metadata JCO in Webdynpro application

    Hello all,
I am trying to change the metadata jco destination in a webdynpro application.
Although I have changed this in property "logical system name" of the dictionary, I am getting this error when I run the application :
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Failed to resolve JCO destination name "OLD_JCO" in the SLD. No such JCO destination is defined in the SLD.
<b>The JCo destination seems to be pointing to the old jco (which does not exist anymore).</b>
I have changed the JCo destinations for many applications earlier but had never faced this problem. For some reason, one application is giving this error.
Is there any other place that needs to be updated with the new JCo destination?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Reena

    Hi Suresh,
The Metadata JCo destination that is mentioned in the error message does not exist. I am aware of this and this JCo was deletd deliberately as we did not need it. In place of this, we created two new JCos and also changed our Wen Dynpro programs to reflect the new JCos. Two WD applications succesfully recognized the new JCos and are working well.
However, the third WD project, is still pointing to the old JCos that we had deleted.
We do not want to create these old JCos again.
    Here is the error description:

  • Ever Changing Metadata Status

I have LR 2 (on a Windows PC) set up to write all changes to XMP. Normally this works very well, but for some pictures the "Metadata Status" message in the Metadata panel constantly changes from "has been changed" to "..." to "Up to date" then back to "Has been changed" again. This happens in Library view when I am not touching the image.
It seems to happen randomly. If I exit LR and then return it has stopped.
The pictures in question seem to be fine, both to examine in LR, edit and also export.
Is this a known problem? Should I be concerned? It seems like a disk write to the image file or a data update to the catalog must be failing. But I have checked my hard drive and it seems healthy.
I wrote about this on my blog and even made an animated GIF http://bkkphotographer.wordpress.com/2009/09/17/the-case-of-the-ever-changing-status/

I’ve been playing with metadata and sidecar XMP files in order to try and learn the way Lr handles them. I’ve also read quite a bit about this subject and now I believe I understand the significance of these XMP files as an insurance in case anything goes wrong with the database, despite the fact that some relevant data is not included in the XMP file and would be lost in case of catalog (database) corruption.
So, I've done a very simple test:
    - created a new catalog;
    - imported 10 CR2 RAW files;
    - immediately after importing they all displayed (quite obviously) a “Metadata Status: Up to date”;
    - applied daylight as white balance to all of them in Quick Develop (“Metadata Status: Has been changed”); option to “automatically write changes to XMP” was off;
    - saved the metadata to XMP sidecar files (“Metadata Status: Up to date”);
    - closed Lr;
    - deleted de XMP files.
When I reopened this catalog, Lr shows the Metadata Status as “Up to date”, even though the XMP files are gone. It’s quite understandable that Lr has no way of knowing that the XMP files no longer exist since they were deleted outside of Lr. But if one tries to recreate the XMP files by saving them again Lr shows briefly a message that it is writing the files but none are actually created. Interesting enough I never get the “sidecar file missing” warning.
I’ve found just two ways of recreating these XMP files after deleting them: either creating empty files with the appropriate names matching the CR2 files or changing some metadata (e.g. adding a caption or title to all photos) before saving the metadata.
OK, some might be asking why deleting the XMP files in the first place? Well, files do get deleted by accident sometimes and could also be lost due to file corruption.
What I would like to understand is if one has a catalog that doesn't use XMP sidecars and at some point they are created (by choice or mistake), is there a way of reverting back and not using them?
Am I missing something or Lr is a little bit weak in handling these XMP sidecar files?
Also, has anyone reproduced this on Lr 3 beta?
    Any comments will be appreciated.

  • Changing Metadata Deletes Artwork-Why?!

So, I'm 40, and I like whole albums. Spotify and Pandora are not things that work with me. And I'm not jumping into this cloud thing because I end up in areas with no service. I want my music with me, on my own terms, because I own it. It's mine.
I'm also a music nerd and like to change the metadata in the Info section of the albums. Specifically, I prefer to put the year the album was release in parenthesis after the album title. That way I can reference that when I'm on the go and am using my iPod (don't get me started on how I feel about the iPod being discontinued…DON'T!)
I've been able to do this in the past with no problems. But now when I try it, after I enter the change and hit the OK button, it deletes the album artwork. Is this because I haven't upgraded to the current version? I'm only a version or two behind. And really, much like making a folder on my desktop for Word files, I consider iTunes a filing system that I have control over because it's full of music that I own.
Am I being naive in believing this?
The reason I don't upgrade the iTunes often is because they keep changing the layout. Again, this is my system. They need not change it around. But if you go too long without upgrading then it doesn't work with iTunes.
Which, again, as a system for my own personal files, makes no sense. Feel free to upgrade your store all you want, but don't make it impossible to use because some of us don't want to have our system totally overworked for no good reason. And iTunes works just fine. Who is trying to justify the job that they know they don't really deserve by "fixing" what isn't broken? Stop it, whoever you are.
So, sorry, this is a heated subject for me…bottom line, why is this change in the metadata deleting my artwork? And while we're here, bring back the frigging iPod! You can't get parts for the hard drive anymore? That's your excuse? You rule the world! That's insane to say that!
I'd love to ask iTunes support for help on this, but since my "contract" has expired, they want $29 to do so. And I buy music and movies on iTunes on a weekly basis. I used to think that Apple had good support but that has changed after tonight.
Anyone out there have a quick fix for this issue… the artwork one?
    Thanks.

    No I'm not.
I also made sure that in Preferences, "Show iTunes in the Cloud" was unchecked (in case it was that causing all my grief), but no luck.

  • How to change metadata database after OIM/OAM install?

    Hi everyone
We need to change the metadata/schema database for our OIM/OAM installation.
What I plan to do is:
    1. Create the new db
    2. Run the RCU utility for both OID and OAM.
    3. Change the connection pool data source in the OAM Weblogic console.
Is there anything else I need to do?
I know there was a connection to the database done when I created the Domain from the OID home (using config.sh). I've tried to run this config script again but can't find any way to amend the domain, nor can I see how to do it in any of the (many) consoles.
    Any help greatly appreciates!
    D

    Hi ,
At the time of configuration you will get an option to set the database connection parameters there you can point to your required DB schema.

  • Scripts for changing metadata in Bridge or CC ?

A client of me wants to copy the filename of an image into a certain field in the Metadata, so that they can change the filename to another filename, so they can keep the original filename as reference.

  • Selecting photos by smart preview status, changed metadata, etc

I want to be able to select photos inside Lightroom based upon criteria which the program tracks but does not let you select on, for instance pictures without smart previews, pictures that have had their metadata changed externally, etc.  The system knows which pictures these are but doesn't let you view them as a set or act upon them as a set ( building smart previews, as far as I know requires manual selection in an updated catalog or universal operation, you can't select just those without smart previews).  Since the system keeps track of the status, it would be nice if you could select that status to view or act upon them as a set.  If anyone knows how to do this, I would appreciate it.
    David

You need to look at Smart Collections. Both of those examples are available in the smart collection criteria.

    Hi,
I've read about difficulties with Automator and iPhoto, however I was hoping there is some way to automate these things.

    I'd greatly appreciate any help!

oh, i can do all those things with the batch mode in iPhoto but I would like to integrate these steps in a longer Automator workflow - i.e. not having to open iPhoto and do it manually...
