Changing motherboards in a 1.25ghz emac

is it possible to put a 1.42 ghz emac motherboard into a 1.25 ghz emac???

There were a lot of 1.25G eMac taht had a terrible logic board defect. It was once covered with an extended repair program ut it expired over two years ago.
A new logic bard can be very expensive/ If you live within driving distance of Eugene, Oregon there is a cost effective option there. Their replacement LBs are pricey:

but they have a service that repairs the existing 1.25G LB instead of replacing it. Used to be around US$130.

  • "Inaccessible Boot Device" after changing motherboard

Ok, I know this is a known problem. Windows 2000 cannot boot up if you changed motherboard with a new chipset. I should run sysprep with my old BX motherboard before I swap it.
But the reason why I want to upgrade my motherboard is because my old motherboard has spoiled! There is NO WAY I could run sysprep with my non-working BX motherboard!
Is there any better way (such as utility) to force Windows 2000 to detect and install the drivers for the new chipset so that I can keep my old settings and installed programs? I don't want to install a clean Windows and reinstall everything!
Currently, the best solutions I can find is at:
    http://www.windowsreinstall.com/install/other/motherboard/
    But it's still too troublesome....sign.

try booting from a win2000 CD and re-installing windows. you wont lose data or the sftware on the PC.

  • Want to change motherboard, because of the Graphics

    Hi
i've got this Hp Pavilion Dv7 4035 so pc, and im really glad of it!
But the reason i bought this computer was that it looked very nice, for gaming too. But now i realized that the graphics isn't good enough Then i found out that i can´t replace the graphics for itself, but i need to change the motherboard.
I dont know that much of computer hardware and i now ask: Is it possible for me to change the motherboard to one that is more suited for gaming??

If I had been choosing a laptop for gaming I would have chosen the dv7-4283cl or the HP Envy 14-1110NR. Upgrading the motherboard (system board)  in a notebook is not worth it. If you want to upgrade the memory or look for a faster CPU or install a fast SSD drive then that is doable and worthwhile.
With notebooks it is an entirely different game than desktop PCs. It is a matter of researching and choosing wisely for the reasons you want a notebook.  Sorry to give you bad news, but that is just how it is.

  • Which Logic Boards will work in a 1.25Ghz eMac?

I have a emac that has a possible bad logic board, it wont fully install OSX. I have tried several different versions with formating the drive everytime clean. I am just looking for a logic board now to replace out. I have seen some 1Ghz boards and wonder if that would fit in my 1.25Ghz machine.

The 1GHz board will install in your 1.25MHz machine. The main difference you will find is that you lose USB 2.0 because the 1GHz board has only USB 1.1. The other difference is that the 1GHz board uses 168 pin PC133 ram and not the PC2700 DDR 333MHz 184 pin ram.But apart from the obvious loss of processor speed everything else will work.

  • Change motherboards

    hello sir,
I'm switching motherboards.  What do I need to do to re validate the Xp ?
    thanks,

And if you have purchased and installed Windows XP yourself then you change the motherboard, you need
to use the telephone activation option to reactivate the install. You can contact Microsoft
Activation Center or find the telephone
    numbers for worldwide activation centers.

    Hi Abdul,
Thank you very much for quick reply.
After I change the parfilename I do see that registered
service name get affects, but I still can't use it from
the portal component that resides inside the changed
parfile, unless I change the alias of the service
EVERYWHERE in the project (including soapconfig.xml file).
It makes some sense if I leave the previous par file with
the original service name at the portal, but it doesn't
(at least to me) if I remove the first par file (what
removes the service too) and upload the new one only
with the original service name. What do you say?
    Thank you,

  • Reinstalling premiere elements 1.0 after changing motherboard

hi all, i have a problem and would be grateful if there are some advise for me. I have premiere elements 1.0 on a pentium 4 computer running winxp service pack 2. My computer broke down recently and the technicians had to replace a new motherboard. When i click on premiere elements 1.0, it asks me to reinstall the program. I inserted the original disks, it gave me an option to repair or remove. I 1st tried repair, it seems to reinstall the rpogram, but after i restart the computer and click on premiere elements 1.0, it asks me to reinstall the program.I did this twice. Next I choose to remove, but a box pops out to say 'the wizard was interrupted before adobe premiere elements 1.0 could be completely installed.Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again'. I tried to remove the program using add/remove program , but it says 'fatal error during installation'. Any advise for me to over come this problem?Thank you

Ouch! At this point it might be worth investing a few dollars in a newer version of the program! (It also would be wise to update to XP SP3, manually go to Windows Update to ensure you have even the Custom/non-critical updates and load the latest version of Quicktime.)
Replacing parts in a very old computer (and I'm guessing this computer must be a good 6 years old) can do some funny things -- especially if your technicians tried to clone or update the hard drive to the new hardware rather than doing a complete reinstall. A lot of programs -- and the operating system itself -- can get very confused with it looks around and finds itself in a whole new environment.
I'm not sure how extensive your computer upgrade was or if your technicians did a complete wipe-and-reinstall of your operating but, assuming everything else is stable, updated and well-tuned, the easiest solution would be to install a later version of Premiere Elements. (I just checked eBay and spotted a copy of Premiere Elements 3 at a Buy It Now price of $12.50, so it doesn't have to be a big investment.)

  • ThinkCentre M58 - Change MotherBoard or Upgrade processor

I am upgrading my M58 and need to know is it worth it put a new processor and graphics card or replace the motherboard all together or even get a new desktop.
i am using it for low quality gaming and multimedia and programming software plz help.

You have an M58 tower machine. There are significant CPU upgrade options because you have a CPU at the bottom of the M58s capability list. Yes, the processors have all reached their end of life, but a Core 2 Duo E8500 will be a significant upgrade for you, and they cost next to nothing now on auction sites. You must make sure to find a C0 step CPU, the S-Spec for that will be SLAPK. The E0 step CPU (S-Spec SLB9K) is not guaranteed to work.
This machine will also accept several quad core processors, see your Hardware Maintenance Manual HERE for more info

  • Repair or Change Motherboard

    Hi,
    I've got a Lenovo 3000 N200 0769-AH9 Laptop with a T9300 Penryn-CPU and broke my Mainboard(CPU-Cooler doesn't work any more).
I saw a Mainboard for 150 €, which is very cheap, as there are no replacement mainboards to buy under 400€. I would buy it, but I am not sure wether there are better ways to repair my Lenovo notebook, or to buy mainboards.
Please help, if you have any hints for me. Thanks

how long have you been using n200?
i usually suggest to buy new computer instead of replacing mainboard.
you can sell other parts on ebay.

  • How do I change the ethernet card in my emac desktop os-x?

After getting a new modem installed, the desktop mac does not recognize the ethernet anymore (it worked fine before!). When I plug the ethernet cable into my laptop mac, the ethernet is recognized. The Century Link tech said this means the ethernet card in the desktop is bad, and that I need to purchase a new one and install it. Problem is, I know nothing about technical stuff for computers, and am wondering the exact steps I should take. Help!!

The Century Link tech said this means the ethernet card in the desktop is bad, and that I need to purchase a new one and install it
That's prima facie evidence that guy is clueless about Macs. They're have logic board ethernet since the Late Cretaceous.
You could have a cable issue. With some modems, you need a "cross-over" cat5 cable if you connect the modem directly to the computer (in other words, you don't use a router between the modem and the computer. Not so common now but still could be an issue.
Check System Profiler again. From the left-hand "Contents" column, select "Network." If "Ethernet" show up as in this screen shoot from a much newer Mac:
then your ethernet hardware is fine and the problem reverts to Century link, their modem , or a cable problem.

  • Elitebook 2540p Motherboard changed. Integrated motherboard IDT audio device missing in windows 7.

    Hi,
     Old situation:
(I recently changed motherboard for my computer Elitebook 2540p. When i installed windows 7 to my computer the computer doesn't list any audio devices in device manager page. I've checked bios for any faulty settings and they are all set right. Theres no yellow marks in device list either and all drivers seems to be installed.)
    New situation:
Installed windows 7 again and computer found / installed audio devices normally. I tested computer for hours to play audio from it and everything worked fine. I restarted computer several times / re installed battery to the computer. On one restart the computers audio quick mute button below the screen appeared to be orange and the sound speaker icon in windows was marked as X. I check device list again from device manager and there was no audio devices listed (No sound devices at all). After that i restarted computer and before the computer started downloadin windows i pressed the mute button and it turned blue. I then went to windows and sound devices / sound was working again.
     Old situation:
I have motherboard integrated IDT audio device.
When i try to install audio drivers from hp site for 2540p i get "Your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update." And the device manager doesnt list any IDT audio devices.
I then installed xp and the computer found IDT audio device normally and the sounds are working correct.
    New situation:
After i did new windows 7 install and all my audio drivers installed / devices showed in device list / audio worked i downloaded audio drivers from HP driver site and installed them to the computer.
Audio problems has not been occured again after my HP screen mute button turned to orange / Windows sound speaker was marked as X / Computer didn´t find any audio devices.
Currently waiting if the problem occurs again and trying to think what would cause this ( Hardware problem or software)? And how to fix it permanently.
    Any help for this problem?
BIOS is updated to newest version from HP driver download center.

I am very new to building PC. My first build was in Feb 2014 (refer system 1), and the first problem I encountered was changing my SSD from System 3 to System 1, at that time I had no idea that my old SSD with AMD chipset is not compatible with System 1 so I ended up buying another SSD and OS. Now being highly satisfied by MSI, I have planned and ordered the parts for my next upgrades (refer system 2) feel free to point and correct on it.
I am changing motherboard from MSI Z87 PC-mate to MSIZ87M. I don't want to encounter the same problem again as I had with my previous build so please tell me if I need to do anything when changing the SSD from system 1 to system 2 because the chipset is the same i.e. Z87 or do I have to buy another set of SSD and OS?
    Thanks,

i don't see any SSD listed in your configs
you no need to buy another SSD or OS,
if you change/move your SSD from config1 to config2 and if you planning your OS to be installed on the SSD,
then you have to reinstall OS on config2 over your SSD

    SMHUSAIN,
Did you purchase your notebook before or after October 1, 2011? If you purchased it prior to this date, HP will not be producing Windows 8 drivers for the notebook, but the hardware manufacturer may. If the product was purchased after that date you'll just need to watch the product's software and driver page for the drivers to be released.
Here is more information about the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8.

  • EMacs PPC G4 upgraded from 9.2.2 -10.3.9 how do I add classic software?

I'm new to posting in forums & unsure about which OS to post in.
I run a Mac computer lab at an elementary school. I need to add some licensed software that only works on OS 9. How do I do that without losing the ability to use the OS 10.3.9 & 10.2.8 programs which I mistakenly deleted before upgrading?
    eMac info: PPC G4 1.25 &1 GHz, 256MB DDR SDRAM, HD-40GB, OS 10.3.5 upgraded to 10.3.9. Also have PPC G4 800GHz, 128MB RAM, HD-38GB OS 9.2.2 upgraded to 10.2.8.
My experience is mostly PC but I'm slowly learning Mac.
Ideas anyone? I need this for a class on Fri or Mon.

    Hi, kigc -
With regard to the eMac models, Classic (OS 9) can be installed only from the original disk set that came with each machine; the specifics of doing so vary a bit depending upon what the original OSX version was for each machine. One or more of these Apple KBase articles should assist in doing that -
Article #106294 - Mac OS X: How to reinstall Mac OS 9
Article #107383 - Mac OS X 10.2, 10.3: How to perform Mac OS 9 clean installation with Restore CDs
Article #42929 - Using Restore Discs with Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3..3
    Article #151871 - Mac OS X 10.3: Installing Classic
Although all eMacs can use OS 9 as Classic, not all are OS 9 bootable. The 1.25GHz eMac models are not OS 9 bootable; the 1.0GHz models are OS 9 bootable only if the machine has ATI Graphics and the original optical drive is not a Superdrive.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86209
With regard to the G4 800MHz model, that would be a G4 Quicksilver (2002) model. It is OS 9 bootable, but only using the model-specific version of OS 9.2.2 which shipped with the machine on a stand-alone Software Install CD for OS 9; that disk is the only source for installiing OS 9 (Classic) on that machine.
    <hr>
If you do not need to boot any of the above machines to OS 9, and need to use it only as Classic, then you can copy a working OS 9.2.2 (or perhaps an OS 9.1 or 9.2.1) System Folder from another machine. This should work fine as Classic, but will not be able to boot the machine (even if it is OS 9 bootable).
On those machines which are OS 9 bootable, if the hard drive does not have OS 9 drivers installed (this can happen if the drive was formatted using OSX's Disk Utility and the option to install OS 9 drivers was not selected) then not only will the drive not be available when the machine is booted to OS 9 (such as to an OS 9 Install CD for machines capable of using one), it also can not be used for OS 9 booting. The absence of OS 9 drivers will not have any effect when using OS 9 as Classic.
