Changing multiple master slides on keynote 6

Can I change multiple master slides at once on Keynote?

No,    you can only access one master slide at a time.

  • Multiple master slides?

I know this isn't the right forum for this question, but I figured that a good many of you expert users of Keynote were [still are] also experts in Powerpoint.
My question is: I HAVE to produce a presentation in Powerpoint [they refuse to consider Keynote at this point - we're working on it tho']! Sooo... although I'm used to being able to produce multiple master pages in Keynote, how the heck can I do this in Powerpoint on my Mac? My office version of PP is v11.2.
My wife assures me that she produces presentations at her office all the time using multiple masters in one document, but then her office uses PCs! I'm in a real fix here as I'm hoping there's a way to do this, and that Microsoft didn't deliberately hobble the Mac version since Keynote came out. They wouldn't do that would they??
I'd understand if nobody can answer this, but I'd be so, so grateful if someone knows of a fix for my urgent dilemma....

    Thanks a lot, Brian.
I've tried it and it works - not very well as you pointed out. Powerpoint is not as easy or as quick to grasp as Keynote... typical Microsoft I guess.
    I really appreciate you're help with a non-Keynote question.

  • How do I set up a master slide in Keynote that provides placeholders for multiple images?

I came across an article in Mac|Life (Oct 2012 p90) titled "Create a Stylish Slideshow".  The steps include creating a master slide that allows for you to add multiple photos.  My master slide list for all themes allows for only one photo per slide.  What am I missing and how can I set up a slide to which I can add multiple photos as they do in this article?  Yes, I am using Keynote '09 v5.3.

Thanks for the info.  Following the instructions which are covered in chap 12 of the User Manual, I found that I cannot use shapes as placeholders.  The only success I experienced was if I used an actual photo image.  With photos I could select  Define as Media Placeholder, with Shapes, the only option was to Define as Text Placeholder.  I will address this with a thorough review of chapter 12.
My initial problem was that I assumed that all themes in Keynote possessed the same set of Master slides.  When I found this not to be the case I looked at each theme and identified 12 of the 44 provided different master slide options which provided placeholders for more than 1 photo (a few provided up to 6).  For helpful information for others, here is a listing of those themes that provide master slides for more than 1 photo:  Editorial, Kyoto, Brushed Canvas, Typeset, Craft, Stock Book, Blue Print, Vellum, Modern Portfolio, White Corners, Storyboard, Formal.
Thanks again.  Your feedback got me on the right track to resolving my problem.

  • Can't change master slide in Keynote

Phong, of Apple Support was able to finally help.  Kudos Phong!
    Test:
    1.  Open a new presentation
    2.  Edit / View / Edit Master Slide
    3.  If the edits are not saved, then there is an issue.
In addition, the presentation froze and I could not make any changes, preview, nor play the presentation.
    Solution:
    1.  Move the Keynote App to trash
    2.  Reboot
    3.  Open App Store (log in if needed)
    4.  Go to Purchases
    5.  Keynote should show purchased, not "Installed"
    6.  Click the "Installed" radio button
    7.  Reinstall the Keynote App
This corrected all my Keynote problems.

  • Master slide color change?

I'm changing the background color of a Theme, but would like that color change to apply to all master slides. I've changed one of the master slides in the theme I chose, but don't know how to apply this same color change to all of the master slides for this theme. I shouldn't have to change each master slide, right? I should be able to apply this color change to all master slides automatically?

Select all the sides...click+shift on each slide. Or pick one slide then select all...Apple key+A. Then change your theme/master.

  • How to create a theme with more than one master-slide size defined?

I would like to create a Keynote theme that has more than one size of page defined - for example one for on-screen show, and one for printing.
I noticed that the stock themes, and those from theme vendors, come with multiple page dimensions, and that the master slide layouts for the 'same' master slide appear to be designed differently for the different sizes.
How do I create themes like this in Keynote? I cannot find any information about this in the Keynote manual. I have worked out how to change the master slide dimensions, but not how to tell Keynote that the layout I've created for a slide is for a particular set of dimensions. So when I look at my theme in the theme browser, I only see the dimensions I had selected last time I saved my theme showing.
    Any help most appreciated.

The same reason that Apple and 3rd Party vendors put multi-size templates in one file I expect. I am trying to construct an in-house standard template for use in our company, and it is easier to manage if there is only one file to send to people rather than many - both initially and for subsequent edits / updates to the template.
Of course it would be possible to create several templates (one for each size). But since it is clear that templates can be combined, it appears sensible to do this - unless the doing of it is horridly complicated

  • Add master slide

I'm making some project about a year.
I change the theme of slide when month is changed.
    but i got problem here.
before keynote6 I could just change the theme of slide from whatever slide i chose.
However, I can't find the same function in Keynote6
it only allowed me to change whole theme of slides.
it seems like i can only use one theme for one file of Keynote.
is there anyone who know how i can change some theme of slides or just add master slides on the same file?

In Keynote 6, themes apply to the whole presentation, slide masters apply to single or multiple slides.
To change the layout of a slide, click on the slide to be changed in the navigator panel
Inspector > Format > Slide Layout > click in the white pane where it displays the current master being used and select another slide master from the grid
To do this, create a set of master slides, one for each month:
start a new presentation;    File > New
    view > edit master slides
delete all the masters except blank
    select the blank master slide
add the content to the master and change colour, position and size of the objects and background
duplicate the master 12 times, right click > duplicate, one for each month
make any changes to the other 11 masters
click done in the button panel at the window base
add  new slides and change the master slide for each month you want to use:
Format > slide layout; click in the side master panel

  • Sub-bulleting and Customising Master Slides on iPad 2

Hi, i got my ipad2 just a few weeks ago and i'm still figuring out how to do basic things like adding sub-bullets and changing master slides in Keynote. I know this can be done easily on Mac OS X, but I only have this iPad running iOS.
Suggestions? Please don't tell me to buy a Mac

Try this. Delete the account and restart the iPad.
Once it has restarted set it up again
Go to your iPad home screen and tap Settings.
Scroll down to Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Tap Add Account.
    Scroll down and tap Other.
    Tap Add Mail Account.
Put the name you want people to see when they get mail from you in the Name field.
Enter your username in the Address field. For example, [email protected]
Enter your password in the Password field.
In the Description field enter the name you want to use to identify the account.
Tap Next. If you get an error message at this point, tap OK.
Make sure that IMAP is selected at the top of the screen.
In the Incoming Mail Server section, change the Host Name to mail.btinternet.com
Now enter 993 in the Server port and set SSL to on.
Then scroll down to the Outgoing Mail Server section and change the Host Name to mail.btinternet.com
Now enter 465 in the Server port and set SSL to on.
    Tap Save.
Your settings will now be verified and you'll then see your Account screen. If this doesn’t happen automatically tap your account to access your email.

  • Unable to Set Master Slide Properties

I'm not sure how this happened, because I could do this in the past, but for some reason I cannot set properties for the master slides in my project.
I am using Captivate 7 32-bit, and when I click on a master slide I get the "Master Slide View" message and can add/remove/modify objects on the master slide.  But, for some reason, I cannot set the properties of the master slide iteself anymore.  Specifically, I am trying to re-name one of the master slides, and the properties view is the same as the last filmstrip slide that I viewed.
For example, I am editing slide 2/10 from the filmstrip.  I decide to change the master slide associated with this slide.  So, I click on the master slide tab, then select the master slide I want to edit.  The "Master Slide View" message appears, but the properties tab remains the same as the last slide I was viewing on the filmstrip.  If I select an object on the master slide (like a text box), I can modify the properties of that text box.  But, I cannot modify properties for the master slide I am working with.
Any ideas of how to re-enable the properties of the master slide?  I already restarted Captivate and my computer a couple of times.

  • Master slides I created and saved as a theme won't work

I've created a set of Master Slides for Keynote and saved the file as a .kth file per the Help function in Keynote. However, whenever I try to use them (apply a theme to a slide) I get this message when I try to edit the slide: "The object you are trying to select can only be edited in the master slide." Apparently I've done something wrong.....but what?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Getting my Master Slide to apply changes

Hi everyone. I'm very new at using DW and actually had our site built by someone else but I have been making the changes to each page. My problem is that although I can make changes to the individual pages, I cannot get the changes made to my master slide to apply to all the pages, thus leaving my sidebar incomplete. Can someone please let me know what the difference is in applying changes to an individual page vs the master? Thanks

Never trust the Masters drop menu. Choose SHow master slides from the View drop down and see if the masters show up in the navigator. If they do, click the FIRST master, and hit the New button. Rename this new one and delete the old one. Then do that for EACH master slide. That should put them All in the same "theme set" and they should show up in the drop down.
When you delete the master that's being used for a regular slide, it'll ask you what to replace it with, just choose your new master so you can delete the old ones.
It's a "glitch" in Keynote because of the allowance of multiple themes in a file. Each set of masters is tied to the theme set it came from, and won't show up when you click a slide made using a different theme set, even if it's all in the same file.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can I put multiple object placeholder in Master slide?

I would like to know if I can creat multiple object placeholder in Master slide or not.  After searching the disccusion, seems that this problem occur since Keynote 03 and is not improved till Keynote 09 now.  In fact, I would like to make a slide show of multiple photos, but I would like to arrange several photos in one slide and exactly the same position and size in each slide.  So, it would be easiler if I can make a master slide with mulitple object placeholders.  Can anyone help or if there is any alternative ways? Thank you.

Apple Maps is not a GIS application. It might be one day. For now, you will have to use ArcGIS or something similar.

  • Keynote 6.5 Loses Ability to Keep Master Slide Objects Static for Object Transitions

A gripe that I'm hoping many of you are as infuriated with as me – and hopefully maybe someone can point out something I am not seeing.
In past versions of Keynote 6:
    Premise:
An object is placed on a Master Slide (not a placeholder)
That master is applied to slides.
An Object Transition (Cube, Revolve, Pop, Push, Flip, Zoom Perspective) is applied to that slide (which is followed by a slide with the same master)
    Result:
Only objects not on the master slide would animate during the transition leading to a premium feeling transition.
    Keynote 6.5
    Premise:
    Same as above
    Result:
All objects animate, including non placeholder Master Slide objects resulting in "too much" happening on screen.
As a presentation designer who makes a living on Keynote, this is a huge step back. I used to trick Keynote 5.3 into getting the effect that I wanted by taking screenshots of a blank slide and then making that screen shot the background of a slide. It was a time suck, often somewhat pixelated, a huge addition to file size (especially for templating), and cumbersome to make small changes like adjusting position of logos.
Apple... I hope one of your engineers are reading this and creates a fix for this in the near future.

  • Changing Font Colors on Master Slides

I really like Keynote compared to Powerpoint, but I am having a problem making one change to the master theme slides. I am able to change the look, font, etc. on the master slides of a theme, but I cannot figure out how to change the font color in the master slides. Which means that when I am using Portfolio, for instance, which I like, I have to change each slide's font color from gray to black, which is easier to read. I would rather do that on the master slides, but have been unsuccessful thus far.
Any help would be appreciated. it doesn't make sense that you could revise the masters in just about any way EXCEPT font color. So I must be missing something.

You change the font color on the master slide, the same way you change it on any other slide. Click view, then Show Master Slides, then select the slide and change it the way you do a regular slide.
