Changing music played within a QuickTime movie created form iPhoto

I am trying to create a QuickTime movie from iPhoto which I have figured out, but I can not figure out how to change the default music. iPhoto indicates that it will use the default music from slideshow, but I can not see where to change that in slideshow preferences? I am able to change the music successfully in a slideshow played within iPhoto, but it does not ripple acorss to the newly created QuickTime movie.

when you're creating your slideshow, you just click the music button (in iPhoto '09 in the older versions it might be in the settings, I don't remember) and choose your song and hit apply. Make sure the "Play music during slideshow" box is checked. Play your slide show (not preview) because this is just what it will look like as a quicktime. Go to export, choose quicktime and check the box that says "Add currently selected slideshow music to movie"
I can assure this works because I was following these steps as I was writing them and I just successfully played a QT with my own music

How do you move a quicktime movie from one iphoto library to another?

1 - export it from Library A via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu with Kind = Original.
2 - import it into Library B as you normally would.

  • Quicktime Movie created in iMovie plays in FCP timeline but NO AUDIO

I don't get any sound out of the Quicktime movie I made in iMovie when I drag it into Final Cut Pro. I get the red line indicating that it needs to be rendered, but even after I render, there is no sound.
    Can this be remedied?
    Rx

I got the movie into FCP a couple of different ways, hearing no audio the first way then trying to bring it in another way to see if it gave me audio. First I imported the QT movie that resulted from my iMovie project. I found it in my external drive where I had it stored, and I imported it.
When I detected a problem, I undid that and opened Finder, selected the external drive, found my movie and dragged the icon into my bin.
In either case, when I opened it in the canvas, it played -- video only. When I dragged it into the timeline, it separated the media into one channel of video and two channels of audio. It would play -- video only. There was a red render bar that I eliminated by rendering all, to no effect for recovering audio, and then by rendering 'audio only,' which also didn't work.
I then tried dragging in a second iMovie QT project to see if the same problem existed. It did. With that project, however, responding to the red render bar by hitting 'render all' gave me a window saying it would take two hours. Why that wasn't the case for the other movie, I don't know. Perhaps it's the only one that might have worked, should I have had two hours to wait. It freaked me out a little 'cuz it didn't even appear to start working on the render after several moments of watching my cursor turn into a rainbow on and off. So I just closed it out and posted my question.

  • How does Apple link external "play" buttons to quicktime movies.

If you look at some of Apple's demo movies on their website, take Motion 3 demo for an example, they use external controller buttons to control the quicktime movie. Anyone know how they do this?
    Thanks,
    Ed

Very complex javascript files is how it's done:
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/motion/
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/scripts/quicktimegallery.js
Use the Safari Activity window to view them.

  • HD quicktime movie create page with iweb and host externally?

    I made a 3
min HD movie the file is 1.5gig I have an account with
blue host that allows me 300gigs of space. I uploaded the movie no problem.
Now i want to make a web page with a link to that movie using iweb.
So in other words i design the simple page on i web and than upload it to
bluehost. How do I size a quicktime movie to be the correct size example
852x480? on the templates the movies are to small?

How did you fit a 1.5GB file into 300MB's of space?
What viewer is going to wait two or three hours (weeks on dial-up) to view a 3 minute file?
Your best solution is to link to file and let your viewers download it. Just use the complete URL as your link.

  • Importing a Quicktime Movie made by iPhoto

I just exported 500 photos to a quicktime movie from iPhoto. I want to import it into Final Cut Express where I can put a musical score behind it to add effect to the photos.
Unfortunately, FCE wont import it as it says it doesn't recognise the file format. It is a "quicktime movie"
    Any ideas?

    John,
When playing a movie in QuickTime Player, you can hit Command + I to see the movie properties.
Doing this for an exported QT file from iPhoto, I see that it is NOT actually a movie file but just a series of JPEG photos with an MP3 soundtrack. Apparently QuickTime is smart enough to know how to play it as a slideshow (with a very low frame rate).
Dragging this into FCE, it shows on the Browser as a Sequence but it is actually not usable. Dragging to the Timeline gives an error, as does trying to open it up.
NOW... I used QuickTime Pro to Export that file into an Apple Intermediate Codec movie file (keeping the parameters to be "current" which was a 720 x 480 pixel file, originally specified from iPhoto's Export function).
THIS resulting file I could drag into FCE and into the Timeline. Rendering was required (probably due to the MP3 soundtrack).
You cannot open it up as a Sequence to edit, but you can stick it into your Sequence Timeline.
It plays fine in FCE along with the music, or just add your own soundtrack later.

  • Restoring iPhoto data file or ediitng Quicktime move made from iphoto

I wanted to edit an old slideshow I had done in iphoto (I don't know the version) a while ago. i thougfh i had saved the slideshow or library correctly . All I have from that time is a Data file with the name of the slideshow. I have tried to open it, import it into iphoto (I believe i am using the latest pre-purchased version) and all those atempts are unsuccessful. I have the quciktime move I had exported the slideshow into. I wanted to lengthen the transition time (dissolves) between the slides on the quicktime move. I am unable to edit the quicktime .mov. Even if I upgraded to Qucktime Pro I don't think I would be able to edit those transition times. what can I do?
    Thanks

A Volume is a Hard Disk, or a partiton on a Hard Disk.
Hard Disks can be structured in different ways to hold the data, and iPhoto requires a Disk/Volume that is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). If the library is on a disk with a different format then the data won't be stored in an appropriate structure.
I'm 99.999% certain that Crashplan's server is not formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). VIrtually no servers are.
So, when you write the iPhoto Library to that server the data is not structured properly, and that's why you have problems when you restore.
It should be noted that ordinary files won't have a problem, in this sense they are Mac compatible. But an iPhoto Library is not an ordinary file. It's a complex ecosystem of interlinked databases, caches, metadata files plus you images. This is also true of Aperture and 3rd party apps like DevonThink Office and so on.
The best you can hope to do is get everything down from Crashplan first, and then see about cleaning up the mess.

  • Can't Play HDV 1080p24 Quicktime Movie - PLEASE HELP!

I have a self-contained Quicktime file that plays fine using the Quicktime application on my computer that has Final Cut Pro installed on it. However, when I move that Quicktime to my computer that does not have Final Cut Pro, it says I don't have the proper codec. (It plays the audio fine, but the video is just a black screen.)
Can I download this specific codec on my non-FCP computer so that I can play this file?
Here are the specifics on the Quicktime in question:
    Format:
    HDV 1080p24, 1440 x 1080 (1888 x 1062), Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz
And, if it helps at all, we footage was created with a Canon XL-H1 camera, imported into FCP, edited, and exported as a Quicktime file using current settings. And, the non-FCP computer does have Quicktime Pro installed.
    Thanks!

Gonna have to look at a third party solution...
#51 - Cannot view DVCPRO HD or HDV or ProRes on my computer.
Shane's Stock Answer #51 - Cannot view DVCPRO HD, HDV or ProRes QT files on your computer.
The DVCPRO HD, HDV and ProRes codecs only comes with FCP. If your computer does not have FCP installed, it cannot view these quicktime files. It doesn't matter if it is a Mac or PC, without FCP installed, you cannot view these files.
If you need to view ProRes material, you can download the ProRes decoder (mac and windows compatible) for ProRes
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forWindows.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forMac
If your footage was captured as DVCRO HD you can buy the Calibrated DVCPRO HD decoder:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QDVCProHD.asp
HDV, XDCAM? Calibrated has you covered too:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp
If you have MXF files from a P2 camera and you need to view the footage on a computer without FCP, you can download P2CMS from Panasonic:
    http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/p2-hd/downloads-and-updates.asp
Or you need the other party to compress the footage into a format your computer can play, like H.264.

  • How do I play my completed 3D movies created with CS5.5 and Cineform  Neo3D?

I know how to display a video being edited with CS/Neo3D but how do I play it after the completed movie is rendered in its final form.
I have not been able to verify that I can use Quicktime 7 and the FBX QuickTime Viewer Plug-in from Autodesk?   I think you could output to a 3D TV connecting it to the Mac graphics card DVI output (with a HDMI 1.3 converter) using the 2nd Display option of Quicktime.  Will this accept a full 1920x1080 to each eye and include audio?  Can I put the 3D movie on a DVD to play directly on a 3D TV?  Thanks.

Following is the thing i found after many searched for you..
Anything goes awry in this unholy menage-a-trois that causes a hard shutdown, harms the OS and it is being a great reason subsequent failure to boot up due to a lockup at the "Welcome" splash screen, You will have to press the "enter" key with machine gun rapidity when the "Welcome" first starts moving and keep it up despite the little tone telling you to desist. It seems to work. I have run out of more logical solutions....
This is the only thing i can suggest for animated techniques whether in form of animated movies or anything else.

  • Playing other than Quicktime mov files

How do I get Quicktime to play Windows Media files in a full screen mode. I have the Flip forMac plug in but can't figure out how to change the settings to full screen mode. I also downloaded Windows Media Player 9 but can't figure out how to get files to work on that. I downloaded Real Player and got it to work in the settings but not WM files. Does anyone know how?

These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, QT 7.3 and OS 10.4.11. (If you are running Leopard, ensure that all plug-ins have been updated for OS 10.5)
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.)
In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2007-009.1.1, which also deals with the Quicktime/Flash issues you may have experienced, such as the '?'. What happened was that both Quicktime as well as Adobe FlashPlayer tried to play the Flash video at the same time. This no longer happens. (N.B. Security Update 2007-009 1.1 requires both a restart and a permission repair.)
If you get problems with viewing video on a website try moving this file to your Desktop:
    Hard drive/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
and then restarting Safari. If all now works, you can trash that file.
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

  • IMac 10.3 cannot view Quicktime movies created on MacBook 10.5.4

I'm creating movies using iMovie on my MacBook to be viewed in html files. No problem viewing the movie on line using Safari on MacBook. No problem viewing the movie itself with Quicktime on my iMac. But when I access the html page on line with iMac, I cannot see the movie regardless whether I use Safari or IE.
Also, these html pages are veiewed by potential home buyers & since not every household has the latest computer & software, is there a way to export the iMovie files in a more universal format?
    Thanks in advance

MMM...I think your iMac/10.3x has seen it's day. Even if you install (or can) 10.4x on it, it might be worse off. Someone gave me a iMac like yours last year. I did what I could with it. A few days later I packed it up and got rid of it.
Some may come in here and tell you to do this and that...but I don't think you or your fiend will be happy.
Sad to say, but I think it time for a new or a recondition Mac for your friend.

  • All Annotation options unavailable in movie created by iPhoto

I am using QT Pro 7.1.3.
I exported an iPhoto slide show to a 640x480 movie. I'd like to set it to play in full screen when opened using the annotation feature in the Movie Properties screen. No matter what I select, none of the annotation options in the Presentation pane or Add Annotation pulldown is available to me (greyed out)? I double checked ownership and permissions.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks!

Figured it out, I was using a purchased iTune as the soundtrack making the resulting movie unmodifiable.

  • Keynote does not support exporting with embedded Quicktime Movies

I hope this helps a few of you out before you run into this problem.
Keynote does not support export to Quicktime with any slides that contain a quicktime movie.
Created a 27 page slide show with transitions, music, narrations and 6 Quicktime movies (Actually LiveType Text scrolls)
When I attempted to export it never finishes the export cutting it short after about 20 pages.
And the pages with the movies, don't start playing.
It exports fine as a quicktime movie without the movies inserted though.
Spoke with Apple Support and they confirmed that quicktime placed files within Keynote playback is only supported from the native Keynote Application.
I read somewhere on this board that it was an issue with Quicktime version 7.5, not so as I tried the same test on a mac with Quicktime 7.42 and it had the same issue.
    So, beware.
    LJS

Maybe I didn't understand well what you said but it is possible to export a Keynote file with embedded Quicktime movies to a quicktime movie. Actually, I'm doing it and I works. BUT, the issue I get is that I can't get my embedded videos to loop. Grrr...

  • Is it possible to embed some JavaScript code WITHIN a QT movie?

    Hi,
This may be a job for QuickTimeKirk, as I've seen (s)he seems quite knowledgeable about QuickTime secrets...
I'm using a blog service which does not allow the calling of external JavaScript files. Furthermore, testing STAMPot from my excellent fellow compatriot *Francis Gorge* (http://www.qtbridge.com/stampot/stampot.html) did not help me enough because the posts on my blog are contained within tables over which I have little control. In particular, I cannot write a full HTML page description with the <head> and <body> tags, and all the references needed to link to the .js file (and others) created by STAMPot.
So, I'm wondering if it is possible to embed the appropriate code directly within a QuickTime movie, e.g. under the form of a additional HREF track.
What I'm trying to achieve, in the end, is to have a poster frame for my movie, and have the movie play within that same poster frame space, but WITHOUT the movie controller +(not the poster frame controller, which I know how to hide)+, and then the movie looping back to the poster frame.
Maybe I missed something, but in the case I understood correctly what I read on the QT Dev web site, when one passes the controller="false" parameter to the +<embed src="<a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://...&gt;">http://...> tag, the parameter only applies to the FIRST movie, which is, in fact, the poster frame. Even if the target movie was saved with the controller disabled, this is only acknowledged by QuickTime Player, NOT by the QuickTime plugin.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    batspray

1- You can add a frame to the end of the movie, make it an href track that points back to the poster movie. Yes. Illustrated details, here: [http://developer.apple.com/documentation/QuickTime/QT4WebPage/samplechap/speci al-24.html]
2.- As to the larger question of JavaScript within the QT movie, No. "Starting with QuickTime 7.1.5, you can no longer issue javascript: URLs or call JavaScript functions from within a QuickTime movie. This feature was removed from QuickTime for security reasons." See this official notice: [http://developer.apple.com/documentation/quicktime/Conceptual/QTScriptingJavaScript/bQTScripting_JavaScri_Document/chapter_1000_section1.html].
