Changing my screen resolution ratio

I am new to the Mac world. I'm about 3 months in on my MacBook (13").
I bought an iPhone today, so Apple has officially captured me.
When I went to plug in my iPhone to my computer iTunes automatically started up. When I click on the "iPhone" tab, ti showed a registration screen with a "register later" button at the bottom left. The text was obviously wider than the iTunes window, but there wasn't a scroll bar at the bottom to read the text to the right of the screen. There isn't a way to increase the width of the iTunes window, so how do I get to that information. This wouldn't be critical, but now I can't navigate to past the "License Agreement" screen without pushing the "Accept" button, which appears to be outside of the iTunes window.
Things that I have tried to resolve this problem:
1. Changing the resolution. The highest resolution that shows up on my Color LCD Display screen is 1280x800. There aren't any screen resolutions greater than so, I don't know how else to get past this screen.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Can anyone help me????

You can resize any window by grabbing (click-hold) the three little lines in the bottom right corner and move it up or down, right or left.
Is this what you mean?
BTW... the resolution of 1280 x 800 is what you would normally set your screen to.

  • Is there any way to change the screen resolution in Front Row?

    Hi all,
I've got a Mac Mini plugged in to my TV, and I want to be able to change the screen resolution depending on the content I'm watching (as some content is in 4:3 aspect ratio, some is in 16:9, and I'd prefer to have the picture filling the screen completely). Unfortunately, the TV doesn't have a "stretch" mode for making an 4:3 picture fit a 16:9 aspect ratio. If I know what I want to watch in advance, I can set the resolution accordingly using system prefs on the mac, but if I'm just sitting back choosing what to watch with the Apple Remote, it's annoying to have to leave front row, walk over to the computer and change resolution once I've decided what to watch, open system prefs, change resolution, re-launch Front Row and find what I wanted to watch again.
So I was wondering if anyone had figured a way to allow the screen resolution to be switched from within the FrontRow UI. I've seen that people have written python based plug-ins such as PyeTV and Understudy that allow different types of content to be added to FrontRow, but I've not found any utility plug-ins such as what I'm looking for on the net (nor could I find SDK documentation on this API in the stuff that comes with XCode).
I guess the other approach might be quick keys: has anyone had any success hooking up quick keys macros alongside front row in response to apple remote events? (seems too few events to be able to choose from, but I've never tried it, so I won't assume!) Or how about is there a way to trigger an AppleScript from within Front Row? And, of course, I'm very open to any other ideas you might have!
Thanks very much in advance for any ideas on this.

I recently updated to iTunes 11 on my Windows PC. Since the update, each time I open iTunes its window is too large for my screen. Resizing it is a pain, because I have to change my screen resolution. And then when I restart iTunes, it has reverted back to being too large. Please help!

Having the same issue here....a quick fix is to just minimize the window, and immediately maximize it.  It will now fit the screen.  Trouble is, after you close it, you'll have to do it again when you re-start itunes.  The good news is it takes all of about 2 seconds.  Apple should fix this.  Should.

  • Changed the screen resolution, wont return to original

Hi, i was changing my screen resolution and i made a mistake and choose a resolution that my screen doesnt support, i waited the 15 seconds to return to the normal and nothing happened. I cant seem to set it back to the original.
    Appreciate the help!

Turn off your Mac holding the Power button. Then, turn it on and press Command, Alt, P and R keys while your Mac mini is starting, so you will do a PRAM reset. This will reset the screen resolution, so the display should be working

Is there a way to make the icons/words larger on the screen without changing the screen resolution?

If you right-click in the top of title bar of any  Finder window there is an option to un-check 'use small icon size', though toggling between the two makes little difference on my screen.
Another trick is you can zoom the whole screen by holding down the 'control' key and using a two-finger swipe up on the trackpad to enlarge, down to go back to normal.

  • My Apple TV 5.0.2 (4250) changes the screen resolution every 10-15 sec. Is there a way to solve this problem?

Hi, My Apple TV changes the screen resolution every 10-15sec. The device is up to date and video setting are done correctly. It is connected to Philips 42pfl3507. What should I do to solve this issue?
    Thanks for your help.
    DucciP

This sounds like a problem beyond resolution.
I'd start by restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, or resetting it using the reset option under general. You should also try restarting your router.
If that doesn't help, try a restore.
    If the problem continues:
Check that the HDMI cable is correctly seated at both ends.
Try disconnecting the cable and connecting it again.
    Try another HDMI cable.
Make sure your TV supports 720p (Apple TV 2)
Try the Apple TV with another TV

I am using the CDE screen to login. I need to set the screen resolution to 1100*864. How to set?
solaris 10 current setting is 1280*1024.

Specs for Ultra20 machine list ATI graphics as " onboard " chipset and the availability of four (4) other plug-in cards as options.
Depending on the installed graphics card, you must seek different commands, etc. for each change of resolution.
If you do not have the original manuals that accompanied the unit, check Sun`s site for documentation. They list an abundance of info and the " Getting Started " book gives indepth details about setting up the various graphics options for proper use with the various operating systems. ....................... • Unix Command to change remote screen resolution

    greetings,
well the topic pretty much says it all :
I'm running ARD 2,2 on a 10.2.8 Server , from my remote admin box I get a recurring "attempt to reconnect" to the machine when controlling or observing the screen.
I ran a report which list the servers screen resolution as 1600x1200 (holy smokes bullwinkle). This setting is not correct. I can fully interact with the server (thru the menus of ARD) and all services are running. The server is at the login screen ( as per ARD "current app").
    thank you

First, you need to install a utility called cscreen (freeware) on the server (or any other workstation you want to control).
Once you have that installed, here is the syntax for the Send Unix Command:
    Usage: cscreen [-d <depth>] [-x <width>] [-y <height>] [-r <refresh>] [-s <display>] [-v] [-m] [-f] [-l] [-h]
[-d <depth>] : specifies the bit depth (bits per pixel)
[-x <width>] : specifies the width in pixels
[-y <height>] : specifies the height in pixels
[-r <refresh>] : specifies the refresh rate in Hz
[-s <display>] : specifies which display to use (defaults to main display)
use a as the option to -s to specify the action on all displays
[-v] : display valid modes (use -s to specify display or nothing for the default)
[-m] : require an exact match
[-f] : forces settings (ignores safety mechanisms; USE AT YOUR OWN RISK)
[-l] : lists the current displays and modes
[-p] : sets the requested display to have the menu bar
    [-h] : displays the usage
Note: Using -p will change the display index so you will likely want to use -l again to show the current displays if you wish to use -p a second time.
For example, to set to 1024x768:
    /pathtoutility/cscreen -x 1024 -y 768

  • Can Automator change my screen resolution?

I kinda ** with scripts, but I've used Automator for some easy tasks earlier.
I'm not sure if it's even possible to make this but hope somebody around here can help me =)
So i use my iPod Touch a lot to check on my computer using VNC (Screen sharing) and sometimes boot it up with iWol, but to make any use of it i need the screen resolution changed. Doing this takes some time when you do it from the iPod or an iPhone.
*So in my case i need an application i can just have on my desktop, start it and my screen will be resized to 640x480, and the best would be if i hit it again it goes back to my normal size 1920x1200 but not so important. I did not find anyway to do this in Automator, I've tried the record function but it never manages to get it 100% right. Anybody got some ideas how to do this?*
    Thanks =)
    P.S.
If there is some pro scriptwriters out there i got a request:
An application that is automatically started on log-on, runs in the background, notice when screen sharing is being used and will pompt and ask for a resolution change.
