Changing name and password

Hello folks,
when I first started my new MBP, it guided me through all those questions regarding Name, Address, Password, etc.
I am planing to sell this computer now, so I would like to delete, or change all these information. Could anyone give me some idea how to do that?
Thank you so much.

I cannot get on free ebooks since I changed back to COMCAST      can anyone help me thank you so much

    Hi Prasant,
The others seem irritated by the vagueness of the question. In the development forums there have been worse flamewars than this when someone posts a requirement and expects the code in return. Normally I just delete the whole lot, but perhaps you still want to explain what you are doing here.
But before that, perhaps you want to consider "why" you should not do this...
    a) Those users would most likely already exist in your AD with an AD password already.
    b) Those users might possibly all be ABAP users "somewhere" (your options are typically wide...) and have a password there already.
    c) No need to hardcode the password.
    d) No need to create Java roles, necessarily.
If you provide more detailed information of what you would like to achieve here, and considering that it has been done before... then I will move this to the portal administration for you.
Though they might also react unexpectedly, so perhand try a search first.
Hope that helps and no hard feelings.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Made a bad change to login options under user preferences, changed from "List of users" to "Name and password". I shut the computer down, now I can't login in when I turn the computer back on.  What can I do to fix this problem?

Have Migrated data from IMAC to Macbook twice.  Because I had too many admin ids under user and accounts preferences, I was trying not to delete the extras but that they wouldn't all show at login time.  Under Login Options, I clicked out  "List of Users" and clicked in "Name and password".  Can't remember whether I did anything else.  I shut down the computer and turned it back on to test the change.  I get a dark grey screen with all my admin ids in circled pictures plus one for guest, but doesn't let me do anything with any of the admin ids.  I clicked on any one and nothing happens.  IF i click on the guest circle, it gives me a message that the computer will restart with only Safari allowed.
Since I haven't been able to connect my macbook to my IMac so I can login to the macbook through the Imac, I can't get to my macbook.  There must be a way to fix this problem.  I expected to see places to enter name and password but nothing is allowed to enter.  Please help!

First thing I would do would be to boot in to Lion Recovery (Command+R on boot) and run Disk Utility, both disk and permissions repair.

  • I have changed the name and password for my Time Capsule and now the Time Machine will not connect

    Mac Book Pro
    1TB Time Capsule.
Yesterday I changed the name and password on my time capsule and also the name and password of the wifi network as I was having problems with the speed of the internet when using Safari on any of my devices (1 Macbook pro, 1 macbook air, 27" iMac, iPhone and iPad) all other internet services were working fine (email etc.) This seems to have solved the problem.
However, since then, my time machine back ups will not reconnect and there is no option for me to reconnect to the existing back up for my macbook pro.
When I enter the time machine preferences it shows as below that there are no back ups.
Then, when I go to select a drive to use which should be the MacBook under the Backup disks the only option is for me to Remove Disk...
So, my question is, how do I reconnect to an existing Time Machine back up for my MacBook pro as I really do not want to erase and start all over again.
Warning - In my naiveté, I did click on the MacBook in 'Available Disks' but I got the impression that it was about to start a whole new back up and not work with the existing one.
(And does anybody have an inkling as to why there was a problem with Safari on all my devices? I downloaded Google Chrome and that worked fine).

    Simply reset the Time Machine.
    See A4 here http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
You can then mount the TC disk in finder after you reboot the computer.
You should be able to reselect the TC disk and then it will say it is going to start a new backup.
Ignore this.. when the TM actually loads the TC disk it will discover the existing backup and continue the backup.. but it will give no hint until it actually starts that it won't start a new backup. you just have to believe it won't.. and mostly it works..
Please also install the widget A1 so you have some idea what TM is doing.

  • I keep getting a pop up that request the Administrators name and password.  I never set this up so I can't bypass this.  How do I change or set up the administrators name and password.

I have OS X version 10.9.5.   I have had this for a year or two.   How do I find my Administrators name and password?  I do not recall ever setting this up.

If you don't recall setting it up, try entering nothing into the passwordfield and just press return.
If that worked, please go to " > System Preferences > Users & groups" and click the [change password]-button.
If all that doesn't solve it, boot from the Recovery Partition and reset your password from there.
    Here’s how:
1/ Make sure your computer is completely shut down.
2/ You’ll have to be quick next: Press the Mac’s power button. As soon as you either hear the loud chime, or see the display light up - usually after a second or 2 - on your keyboard press [cmd] + [r] Keep these keys on your keyboard pressed until you either see an Apple Logo with a loading bar or a spinning gear.
After a few minutes, you’ll be presented with a Utilities screen. This is the Recovery partition. If this step is already giving you problems, try using a USB-keyboard. It doesn’t have to be an Apple-keyboard. If you have a Windows-tailored keyboard laying around, use the “Windows-flag” key in stead of the [cmd]-key and it should also work.
3/ Find the menu called “utilities” in the top left corner of your computer’s display. It’s in between the menus “edit” and “window” Don’t be confused with the menu called “os x utilities”
Choose Terminal. A somewhat old-fashioned looking window will pop up, waiting for a text command from you. This is the Terminal.
After the # type: resetpassword and press return. Note that there is no space between ‘reset’ and ‘password’
What you’ll see next is an rectangular window that gives you the option to reset passwords. Set a new password for all the users that you need.
We’re ready to reboot your Mac now. Click on the Apple Menu and choose “startup disk” Choose to boot from “Macintosh HD” Please let us know if this solved your issue, or if the steps above did not work, or could not be performed for some reason.

  • Firefox had saved my login name and password for a site, when I changed the password, FF won't ask to save/update it so I have to enter it manually now. How do I get it to prompt me in FF7.01?

Using FF7.01 on a HP Pavilion dv6775us laptop running Vista Home (updated continuously)
The site owner changed the rules in order to improve password security so I was required to create a new password. When I did so I was not prompted by FF7.01 to save the new password.
When I next logged into the site, FF remembered the user name but presented the old (invalid) password. I was forced to manually enter the new password, but again was not prompted to save it to FF.
I then went into FF Security, viewed the saved passwords and deleted the entry for the site in question. I expected that when I logged into that site the next time I would be asked if I wanted to save the username and password. I wasn't.
I then exited from FF and relaunched it and again logged into the site in question. I was not prompted to save the username or password.
How do I force FF to ask for and then save the username and password?

    Thank you for your reply.
My problem isn't removing my log-in name and password for a site.
The problem is I already had the log-in name and password saved by FF, but I was required by the site to change the password. FF did not recognize that it had changed and refuses to prompt me to save the new password.
After several attempts to force the prompt, I deleted the site from the Saved Password list, hoping that the next time I entered my log-in name and password on that site FF would ask if I wanted to save both. That did not happen even after exiting FF and relaunching it.
So, right now FF will not save my log-in name and password for a site that it used track for me. Given the complexity of the new password, I really do not want to manually enter it every time I use the site.
    Regards.

  • How do I prevent other Mac users from changing my Airport Extreme Network Name and Password within the Airport Utility?

How do I prevent other Mac users from changing my Airport Extreme Network Name and Password within the Airport Utility?  My company is using an Airport Extreme in our office now and I want to prevent other employees from messing with the network/settings.  Is there a way to place a password on the settings to allow only the admin to access the network name and password?

Hi - you have will have to change the device passwords on all the base stations and then don't give them to anyone except the administrators and tell them not to save them on their computers that use the older versions of the Airport Utility - for the newer versions like the mobile apps, as soon as you enter the pasword it is saved and is visible in the advanced pane along with the network password - so if anyone gets a hold of your iPad or iPhone, they can edit the whole network - I have this same issue with my networks in the office and it is inconvenient but doable - I hope this helps

I want to photo stream pix from my iMac to apple tv. When I try to enter the iCloud account name and password, the systems tells me that terms of service have changed and won't let me proceed. What's that about?

You need to reset the password for the "old" account, and then use that to turn off iCloud.  Then you will be able to sign in with your new ID.
You can reset your password at iForgot.apple.com.
If you don't know the answers to the security questions, you will need to start there.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
-If you established a rescue email address, there will be a link on the "Passwords & Security" page of id.apple.com.  Clicking the link will send the reset to your rescue email address (NOTE:  This is not the same address as your Apple ID email)
-If there is no link on the page, then you didn't establish a rescue email address.  Contact AppleCare at 800.694.7466 (If you are in the US), and ask for account security.  You will need to answer some questions to verify your identity, AND you will need access to a computer to generate a temporary support pin.
-If you are not in the US, click http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 - Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security

  • Type an administrator's name and password to allow Mac OS X to make changes

I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and now I am constantly receiving the following error message. I have seen several similar posts, but none with this Kaychain/Application. Please Help!
"Type and administrator's name and password to allow Mac OS X to make changes.
Mas OS X wants to use the "System" keychain.
    Username:
    Password:
    Details: Keychain: System.Keychain
    Application:PubSubAgent

Thanks for your help. I tried that but it did not work, the error message still pops up and I am now having to reenter passwords in things like ICAL and Mail. I also tried the Keychain repair and it repaired something but did not fix the problem. Do you have any other ideas?

  • Type an Administrator Name and Password to allow lpadmin to make changes.

We have a lab full of PowerPC G5 Towers running 10.5 off a PowerPC G5 tower running 10.5 Server. We are using Open Directory and AFP to allow students to login to Network Accounts from Local Workstations. After Archive and Installing two of the G5 Machines and updating them, We encountered the error "Type an Administrator Name and Password to allow lpadmin to make changes." and it freezes up and doesn't allow us to enter the password or username or even move the mouse.

To use the solution in the link above in this case, here's one way to go about things:
    - Restart while holding down command and s at the same time to boot into single-user mode.
    - Use the following commands to mount the filesystem (these are also listed on the screen when you start up):
    $ /sbin/fsck -fy
    $ /sbin/mount -uw /
    - You're going to need the root password, so if you haven't already set one, type 'passwd', hit return, and set one.
    - Load Directory Services:
    $ launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist
    - Run the command mentioned in that other post, entering your root password when prompted:
    $ dseditgroup -o edit -p -a admin -t group _lpadmin
    - You may need to run it twice, because the first time it may say something about upgrading your groups or something like that.
I hope that helps. It worked for me on multiple machines affected by this problem.

  • Administrator's name and password - unable to make changes

I just bought my Macbook about two weeks ago, created a administrator name and password, and it worked just fine. However, for the past couple of days, I'm noticing that I cannot make any changes with Software Updates because when I type in the (CORRECT) name and password, the window says "You must type an administrator's name and password to make changes to Software Update. Please try again." Yes, I've BEEN typing the correct name/password. I've tried resetting the password which works fine, but when it comes to inputting it into a window, my macbook doesn't seem to read what I type in. Does anyone know what is going on here? Please help....

    Reply to maurobras.
Seems to me that you have the lost admin problem. One of Leopard'd little ways I have experienced myself. That is the subject of many posts here. Situation (if I am correct in my supposition) is not that you have entered a wrong password, but that what you thought, and what had been till then, was a password of an administrator was not because Leopard had downgraded that user to a non admin.
Look up ' lost administartor' or such in the postings. Put the Leopard install DVD into the machine when booted up.>>>Restart holding down C key. This boots from the install disk. Do not install but look into the menus for the 're set password' option.>>> Choose to re set the root password>>> Write down a good PW for root and write it down.>>>Reset the root password>>>Close the DVD and log in as root with said PW.>>>As root go to System Preferences>>Open the little lock and choose the account that should be an admin>>tick the little box 'allow to administer..'>>>log out of root>>>log in as admin>>open application Directory Utility>> choose to disable root (a safety procedure). You should find now in Sys Prefs that the account IS an admin. Some have found problems getting an option to disable in Directory Utility in that case there is a aTerminal command, disenable root, that works. Make sure of syntax in any Terminal command. Look up man disenable.
