Changing names of songs in I-Tunes

There must be a way to RENAME the song titles in I-tunes, particularly when it makes a mistake.
thanks !

Right click on the song, choose Get Info then the Info tab: Add Song Information, Lyrics, and Artwork to My Tunes
Also this way works on a Mac and I imagine should do on Windows as well. Click on the song to highlight it then click on the name and the text will open for editing. You can use the same method to change the other fields as well.

  • How to Change names of songs in library?

I've imported several cds that come up as track 1 , track 2, exc. in my library. How can I change the name of a track? Or can I? Seems like it should be pretty easy if you're able to, but I just can't seem to find it. Anyone?

if you ctrl-click (right click) on a song and click "get info", you can edit any of the information for the song

  • Changing names of songs

I have a mac book and I put a CD in and all that came up was "Track 1, Track 2, etc." for the song title. I know the names of the songs and I know how to do it on a PC, but, I cannot figure out how to do it on a Mac book. Please respond.

First, are you connected to the internet? No internet, no album information.
Second, iTunes preferences, advanced, importing. Is the checkbox to retrieve album info automatically checked?

  • Changing Artist/Genre/Song Name in "Get Info"

I am very maticulous about my music organization, and only maybe half the time am I able to change the Genre/Song Name/Or Artist
    anyone else have this problem?
how do I fix it ?

If iTunes won't accept changes to the tags see Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows.
If iTunes appears to accept your changes but the original values reappear later then the files are likely to be mp3s with multiple tags. In such cases iTunes only updates one of them and may later read back the unchanged data from the other. To fix this select the tracks in question in iTunes, right-click and use Convert > ID3 Tags > None, several times, then use Convert > ID3 Tags > ID3v2.3. You will need to reinsert any embedded artwork.

    Hello guinness guzzler,
You can set the equalizer from the View menu, which will affect any songs played in iTunes.

  • I used to be able to change track & artist names & other song info in "View" / "Info"; can no longer do

I used to be able to change track & artist names & other song info in "View" / "Info" (or Command I) but can no longer do. The info shows up "greyed". It seems to be on tracks from CDs I imported or downloaded from sources several years ago (pre Gracenotes).
Any suggestions on how to fix?
    Thanks!

I'm having a similar issue. I just downloaded new songs and I can't edit the information or artwork because they are all greyed out. I didn't have that problem until I upgraded to iTunes 11!

  • CHANGING THE COUNTRY IN YOUR I-TUNES ACCOUNT CAN BE DIFFICULT

CHANGING THE COUNTRY IN YOUR I-TUNES ACCOUNT IS IMPOSSIBLE IF YOU HAVE AN OUTSTANDING PAYMENT
    Hello iTunes Support,
I owe you money. My current iTunes account lists my old German credit card, but I don't have this credit card anymore. I have only an American credit card. I would like to use my American card to pay, but I can only change my iTunes account from Germany to the USA AFTER I pay my bill. Please help!
    Thank you,
    Brandon Ethridge
    Dear Brandon,
Thank you very much for your mail.
Please purchase an iTunes Gift Card in the amount of EUR 15.00 to pay the outstanding amount of EUR 13.98.
Now enter the 16-digit activation code beginning with "X" and click the Redeem button. To complete this process, click Redeem Prepaid Card.
Once your Gift Card is successfully redeemed, your store credit will appear next to your account name in the upper-right corner of the iTunes Store window. The outstanding amount will automatically be withdrawn for your credit.
Please note: Before you will be able to change the country to the USA you have to buy another song and then contact us so we can delete the remaining EUR 0.03. If an account shows a credit, it is not able to change the country in account settings. We will manually delete the remaining amount so you can change the country in your profile.
If you experience any problems please do not hesitate and contact us.
    Kind regards,

Note: iTunes gift cards are not sold in stores, so I had to buy it in the online iTunes store, which of course was impossible because of the above problem. So a friend of mine ordered it, and I gave him cash.
    Hello Support,
    My god this is complicated!
Now, the new problem is this: I live in Austria, therefore my gift card is Austrian. But I cannot apply this to my German bill. PLEASE HELP ME. I have not been able to buy anything from iTunes for almost a year now. This is really bad for your business.
    Thank you for your help,
    Brandon Ethridge
    Hello Brandon,
Yes, I agree, it's getting complicated
I have talked to a colleague about it and this is the only thing we can advise:
    1) Ask someone in Germany to buy a gift card for you and have it sent to you to pay the outstanding amount
or, if that is no option for you at all
    2) open a new account (you will still be able to listen to your purchases)
I am really sorry for all the inconvenience caused! Please accept my apologies.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate and reply to this email.
    Kind regards,
    Katja Hoffmann
    Dear Katja,
    Thank you for your help.
    All the best,
    Brandon

    Do you have a question?
I do. How did you get a negative balance on your iTunes account? You cannot download something until it's paid for.

  • For the last week while using iTunes(Windows 7) i have not been able to get the names of songs from CDDB when importing CDs. Very frustrating! Can anyone help me out?

CDDB in itunes is not bringing up the name of songs on CDs when importing into itunes. This has been going on for a couple of weeks. Any help?

I have, a couple different pairs, unfortunately, and still no change. TBH, the headphones don't bug me nearly as bad as the fact that I can't plug my iPod into a radio or speaker with an audio cable and hear my latest purchases. Drives me crazy that I can't listen to my tunes!

  • ITunes will no longer play my music, all the albumss are there but it if I click on a song to play it I get a message saying " The song (name of song) could not be played because the original file coul not be found. Would you like to locate it."

iTunes will no longer play my music, all the albumss are there but it if I click on a song to play it I get a message saying " The song (name of song) could not be played because the original file coul not be found. Would you like to locate it."

You get this message because  iTunes can’t find the file. This can happen for a number of reasons:
The song file or a folder in its path was renamed
The song file or the folder it is in has been moved
The song file has been deleted
The device containing the song files e.g. external drive is not accessible or the drive letter has changed.
Do any of these aply to you?

  • Converting Video to iPod, can you change name of file

When you convert Video to iPod format, can you change name of the new file or put some "marker" so one can tell which is the orginal and which is the new file?
Currently it is difficult to tell between the orignal and the new file.
    thanks in advance
    Rohit

You'd probably be better off doing this sort of editing in iTunes, and letting it move the files appropriately.
Go to the preferences, Advanced tab, and check the box to 'Keep iTune Music folder organized'. Then any changes you make to song names or other info (within iTunes) will automatically be applied.

  • Change name of IPOD touch

I bought a used ipod and I need to know how I can change the name of the ipod that shows on the summary tab in itunes, it still show the other owners name and songs. I am new to apple, this is my first ipod

On a Mac you can highlite the name of the touch in the left hand side of the itunes window and enter another name. Not sure if that will work on itunes for windoz.

  • TS1463 Itunes could not copy (name of song) To the ipod (name of ipod) Because an unknown error occurred (-50)

Itunes could not copy (name of song) To the ipod (name of ipod) Because an unknown error occurred (-50)

I had this problem with a new album I downloaded this week from Amazon. It looks like they changed their cloud player download functionality within the last few weeks.
I previously tried the steps listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1539
I had also tried Windows Updates and a few other suggestions I found on this topic and nothing had worked.
In iTunes, when I right-click on the track to "Get Info," I noticed it lists WHERE at the bottom of the Summary tab to show where the file is located. It said the file was located in \\?\C:\mp3\... Amazon automatically downloads my mp3's to this directory and imports them to iTunes. I assumed there was something wrong with the mapping, due to the \\?\.
If you notice your files are not mapped to a valid location:
Highlight the affected tracks and press the <Delete> key on your keyboard.
Select the Remove option when prompted to remove the files from your Library. Take care to Keep Files if prompted so you don't completely remove them from your computer.
Locate the files on your computer and drag them to import back into iTunes. If you check the location mapping in Get Info, the directory should now be valid.
I think the USB workaround above might resolve this issue, but this probably helps to explain that the files locations weren't referenced in iTunes correctly in the first place.

  • Gracenote CDDB service not submitting correct names for songs when importing from CDs

Gracenote CDDB service not submitting correct names for songs from purchased CDs

You are looking at the 1st Gen Nano manual.
You need to look at the 2nd Gen Nano manual here -> iPod Nano Features Guide
Not much difference but that page 16 shows iTunes 6. You have iTunes 7.
You have to first select the CD.
The Import button is now at the bottom right.
Insert the CD and select it in iTunes and the Browse icon (eye) at the bottom right will change to Import.
Go to iTunes prefs -> Advanced and tick "Automatically get CD track names from Internet".

  • How can you change your security question for I tunes?

How can you change your security question for I tunes?

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then the steps half-way down this page give you a reset link on your account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 link above to add a rescue email address for potential future use
