Changing network often

Hi,
Could changing my sim card in my factory unlocked Iphone 4  during my foriegn trip to use local network affect the setting of the phone & could it be hassle each time i do it & would it need to contact the network operator to reset the setting
Thanks

The comments on this thread are quite concerning that there are this many issues with an EX4.  This device isn't cheap by any means so would expect less bugs and higher quality from WD.I have had my EX4 for around 12 months with 2x3TB WDRed drives in a RAID 1 configuration, worked mostly fine without any issue.Only issue I had was browsing directly from my SONOS devices to access the iTunes media folder directly, no matter what I tried couldn't get it to work so gave up in the end.Last week I added 2 more 3TB drives and migrated my config and data to a RAID 5 configuration.  All seemed to complete OK, however since migrating I have the following issues 1.) All 4 drive lights tend to be blinking constantly indicating the device is still doing something with the drives rather than them sitting idle.  The GUI is not reporting any maintenance operations and all drives reporting back as Good.  2.) The device simply won't shut down unless I pull the power from the back of device.  I suspect it is related to Problem 1 but cannot be certain.I read a different thread before this one that suggested performing a drive scan which is running now, so will see if thats fixes it.Any thoughts or suggestions on root cause or potential fix greatly appreciated. After being relatively happy for the last 12 months with it, starting to lean towards solliex's view unless I can get these issues resolved soon. Thanks

  • IPad sync hangs after changing Network Locations

I have a problem where often after I change Network Locations, the next iPad sync will hang in Step 1 of 5 with the progress right under the "e" of Step.
I have let it sit there for hours and it never progresses. I try to eject the iPad, it will never eject it.
I have sort of a formula to recover from this.
    * I have to just disconnect the USB cable from the Mac.
    * I shut down iTunes.
    * I reboot the computer.
    * I try to power off the iPad by holding down both buttons.
    * It will hang for ever with the little spinning thing going in the middle of the screen.
    * I will hold down the both buttons again and it will finally power off the iPad.
    * I boot the iPad again.
    * I bring up iTunes on the Mac and connect the USB cable and let it try to sync.
    * This will fail the first time on Step 5 of 5 with the message "iTunes could not back up the iPad "My's iPad" because an error occurred. OK.
    * I click OK.
    * I eject the iPad.
    * I shutdown iTunes and bring it back up.
    * I plug the iPad back in to the MacBook Pro.
Now the iPad will sync and continue to sync normally unless I change my network "Location". Once I change my Network Location there is some probability that iTunes and the iPad will get into this stuck condition.
I've looked at the main console logs and All Messages. I don't see anything obvious.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior?
Does anyone have some hints about how to debug this?

  • Voicemail issue since changing network (UK)

    Hi,
I've recently changed networks from o2 to Three. I had my iPhone unlocked from o2 and started using my SIM 600 card that i purchased in a Three store.
Initially i had no issue until i was left a voicemail. I soon realised that Three don't offer the visual voicemail facility, however this isn't the issue. On checking my voicemail and deleting it; i've now found that i constantly have the red dot icon (blank) over the voicemail tab on my "phone" app.
I've checked my voicemails and have the reply fromt he voicemail stating "you have no new messages." There is no facility to check to see if there are saved messages so i can delete them, so i presume i have none. I receive the standard text message stating i have voicemail when i reboot the phone, even though i have no voicemail on checking! I've also found that when i check, my iPhone keeps checking for email and also for App updates when i have Email set to Manual (not pushed or fetched) and i certainly ain't hit the App Store!
I've spoken to Three who said that there isn't an issue with the voicemail settings as its working however the technical customer advisor asked me to wait whilst he checked to see if there was anything else he could do to help me. On coming back he said that the tech department are investigating a potential issue to identify whether its a fault on the iPhone side or if its a fault on the Three side. My iPhone was working perfectly well with o2 and on removing the Three sim, and replacing it with another sim it worked perfectly well so i assume its Three's issue which is what i told him.
I've tried a soft reset, i've tried a full restore - setting it up as a new phone or with a backup, still remains. I've tried calling and leaving a voicemail to see if i can flush the system, but nothing. My colleague at work is on Three with the same iPhone, same iOS update etc etc and she doesn't have the issue so I'm bemused.
I read somewhere it could have something to do with the micro sim being an old and outdated sim - could this be the case?
I'm looking for people's help as i'm heading to the Three store on Saturday to request a new micro sim so wanting some bullets to fire when i get there...
If anyone can help, i'd be sincerely grateful!
    Cheers
    Paul

Just as an update before i close the topic off...
Went into the Three store today and explained the situation to the same guy who sorted the contract out for me. He said he'd never come across it before and couldn't understand why it was happening.
I chanced my arm a little and although it was more or less the whole truth i'd bent the truth a little about the customer services number who didn't have a clue anyway and said that i'd done a bit digging on the internet and mentioned about the micro sim being outdated or something similar. He then offered to try it to sort the issue out, gave me a new micro sim and transferred my details over...got home and swapped the micro sims over.
Voila, icon vanished and no issues thus far...on looking a little closer on the packaging that the micro sim comes with, the initial one i had was from Aug 2011, the newer one was from October 2011 so it may be possible that the post i'd found from googling the issue was correct.
If the issue arises again i'll add to the topic, however so far so good - so i hope that others who may have this issue see this and try the above!
    Cheers

  • Windows 2012: change network profile

Hi i have a query, how to change network profile to public from domain in a server on Windows 2012?
    Best regards
    Edgar
    Best Regards Edgar

    Hi,
    Thanks for your post.
If the server is domain joined, when it starts to detect the network location, the machine will contact a DC via port 389. If this detection successful, it will get the domain profile. And we cannot change it. If the domain was not found or process failed,
NLA will let you to determine which firewall profile will be used, private or public.
For more information about Network Location Awareness, you may refer to the following article. It also applies to Windows 2012.

  • Server 2012 R2 - Change network location from public to private

I am having an issue with changing Network location to private from Public on Server 2012 R2 X64 .
Please note all the reference for previous servers for fixing this issue  does not work on 2012 R2.
I am using Static-IP and "Workgroup" as domain setting.
In 2012 server by Right  clicking on Network and Turn sharing on or OFF worked but in 2012- R2 Right click is not working not providing turn sharing ON or OFF option.

Check if you can change from here :
Run -- Gpedit.msc-- Open Computer configration -->Windows Settings -->Security Settings -->select Network list manager policies

  • How do you change network location type on Server 2012?

Within Network & Sharing Center there appears to be no options available to change a network type as you could do in Server 2012?
Within Network List Manager policies everything is set to "not configured" so this should not be disabling any functionality.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Firstly, if the server is domain joined, when it starts to detect the network location, the machine will contact a DC via port 389. If this detection successful, it will get the domain profile. And we cannot change it.
However, if the server is not domain joined, the domain was not found or process failed, NLA will let you to determine which firewall profile will be used, private or public.
We can do this by referring to
Turn sharing on or off or
How to change network location type in Windows 8.
    Also we can refer to
Network Location Awareness (NLA) and how it relates to Windows Firewall Profiles.
All the above articles can apply to Windows Server 2012.

  • Change network location on a domain controller

This thing is driving me crazy. I have a virtual server with Windows Server 2012 R2. It has one NIC, which gets the internet address through the hosting company's dhcp. It is a public IP address. I've installed the Microsoft Virtual Network Adapter, which
has a Static IP of 10.0.0.1. The server was upgraded to be a domain controller.
Now the problem: it detects both networks as domain joined and puts them under the same domain profile of the firewall, although it should put NIC1 another the public profile, and NIC2 (the virtual one) under domain.
I've tried every possible thing I could think of. Going through GPO's to change network location, then blocked everything on port 389 on the firewall, so he cannot find himself put the NIC under the domain (I actually tried blocking every outgoing and incoming
connection on the firewall, it does not work), I even tried changing the registry. Nothing helps. It still puts the two cards under domain profile.
    Any ideas?

UPDATE 2: I'm having this issue both on my iMac and my Macbook, so I suppose it's a lion bug and not simply something related to something that went wrong during the update (permissions or something like this). It's both in 10.7 and 10.7.1.
I'm going to try on my wife's Macbook to see if it's something related to some software or setting I'm using; in the meanwhile, can someone out there try to reproduce this issue? Just open textedit and change the network location from the menu bar (you should create one other than "automatic" for  "locations" to show up just below "dock"): at this point you should get the spinning ball and then a window telling you that textedit just crashed. Try to do a couple of times if it doesn't crash the first one.
BTW I noticed that textedit doesn't crash if you have the network preference pane open and active ("system preferences" showed on the menu bar) and change the location from the menu bar.
I think I'm going to give a call to Applecare to see if there's some plan to get this corrected in some next update.

  • Problem about allow Managed User change Network setting.

I'm IT Support of school. We have over 200 MacBook with 10.4 and 10.5 OS.
Each student can loan MacBook from our school back to home use.
We have two local accounts on both 10.4 and 10.5.
One is admin user for IT Support use.
Another one is "Managed" student account with Parental Control.
The problem is we setup all MacBook connect with our school wireless but most student in home maybe have different broadband network setting....something maybe wireless, PPPoE, DHCP......etc.
We tested even in 10.4 or 10.5 "Managed" accounts also cannot change Network settting or "Locations Profile"....
Any idea can help me solve this problem?
    Thanks....

As the administrator you can set up multiple locations. Managed users can change their location under the Apple menu -> Location. An admin password is not needed to change the location. Is this not working for you?

  • Restrict Local Administrators from change Network property

In my office Environment we are using Development machines on which every developer has Local Administrator rights on there system. We are using 2 Internet lines in which one line is fast speed and another one is slow one, due to slow internet speed on
second line some peoples manually change the Gateway IP and switch from slow to Fast one, to stop this we need to restrict those users from changing IP on windows 7. Only domain Administrator can able to change that Setting. we are using Window Server 2008
R2 as ADDS. is there any way to stop this using domain group Policy? or Local security policy?

    Hi Siddheshrsawant,
Sorry, we can’t restrict local administrators from changing network property via Group Policy, and this is by design.
For confirmation, the following thread also focused on the similar issue and can be referred to for information.

  • Mail.app doesn't hava connection with imap server when changing network.

Ive got a strange problem after upgrading OSX from 10.6.8 to 10.8.4.
I have got a xserve, with osx 10.6.8. (mail) server installed on it.
When i am in the office (LAN) mail works just fine. if iam home and wake my macbook from sleeping i see in the mail app the attention mark telling my something is wrong with the mail account.
If i open the connection doctor it say's can't connect to IMAP server. if i check my iOS devices there is nothing wrong, everything is working and i can send/recieve mail. on iOS and OSX the settings are the same with SSL enabled and password type.
When i tried to telnet the mailserver address with the IMAP or SMTP port i get a connection. so, there is no firewall blokking my connection.
But now the strange thing when i quit my mail.app and start it again the mail gets connection again. So is there a problem when changing networks when the Mail.App is stil active?

That's just to bad, will it be solved in a future release of OSX?
I don't know... maybe Apple will force me migrating to Mavaricks.
it seems that although w'r using DNS, the outside ip gets remebered or the connection isn't closed down properly when putting the macbook to sleep.
I can try offcource to configure the outside LANip (Non dns) in my mail client.
    I will post with results..
