Changing options on Ipod that is connected to ITunes
When you plug in your ipod to update, a screen comes up with tabs. They are: Summary, Music, Podcasts, Photos, Contacts.
How do you change your options on the Summary page and the music page? You can't because the selections are greyed out and you can't choose them. I want to change from manually managing to syncing only checked items and only in a specfic folder. I cannot delete songs off my ipod either. Itunes 7 isn't very good. I think they should have worked on it more, descovered the problems the "normal" users would have BEFORE launching it.
Can anyone help me or tell me how to change the options?
Thanks!
So far there's no way to sync only checked files UNLESS you let iTunes auto-sync everything. Unlike previous versions of iTunes, you cannot stay in manual mode and also sync only checked items on command. It's frustrating and senseless. Now I have to walk around with 25-30 podcasts on my iPod instead of only the three or four I want to listen to that day in the order I want to hear them.
The Podcast playlist on the iPod is useless now since it contains dozens of shows in crazy order. Here's one way to make podcast listening more manageable. Make a smart playlist on the iPod with the following settings. You could name it !Podcasts so it will appear at the top of the iPod.
Podcast : is true
[X] Match only checked items
Now go to the ordinary Podcast playlist on the Ipod, and checkmark the shows you plan to listen to next. They will appear automatically in your new !Podcast playlist.

You need to connect the device to your iTunes and you should be promped to restore it from there. If iTunes doesn't see your iPod Touch when you plug it into one of the USB ports, try manually placing the iPod into recovery mode first using the instructions in this Apple support document.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I have an ipod touch that hasn't been used in a while. We want to use it now, but the screen says "ipod disabled. connect to itunes". When I connect to itunes it tells me to enter my passcode, however the ipod will not allow me to do anything (and I don't know the code anyway). I tried to put it in recovery mode as someone suggested by holding the home button while plugging the ipod up from the computer, but I never did get the "connect to itunes" symbol, I continually got the same screen saying "ipod disabled connect to itunes". Help!

I just bought a new Ipod ios from a friend and she didn't reset it before she gave it to me and when I try to connect it to my laptop it keeps saying "Ipod is disable, connect to itunes"and it says to put in the correct passcode but I don't know what the passcode is and now I can't get ahold of my friend that sold it to me. So my question is: How do I reset the passcode and the Ipod touch so that I can sync it to my laptop and so that I can enjoy my new Ipod Touch?

Transfering Music from a Ipod that was connected to windows to a macbook
is it possible to transfer music from an Ipod that was connected to a PC to my macbook? or do I have to reinstall all my music to the mac?
I had a similar problem, when a I bought my current G4 Powerbook, my iPod was synced with my iMac, so wanted to transfer all the music from iPod to the Powerbook. Basically, I used a free third party application. Download it, install then connect your iPod, it will copy everything from there to the Macbook.
See the thread link below, it lists some of the software you can use.
