Changing Oracle Apps. host name

Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to change a hostname of an Oracle Applications server (11.5.9 / 11.5.10).
If so, what is the procedure?
Thank you,
Yaniv

Hi Yaniv,
Yes. It is possibe to change hostname.
The procedure is to do a self-clone.
1. The hostname you are going to change to should be "ping"able. There should be an entry in the /etc/hosts of the new hostname.
2. Take a backup before you proceed.
3. Follow all the steps in Note :- 230672.1 Except that you will not be copying files over as the source and the target are the same. The adcfgclone.pl fro dbTier and appsTier will prompt you for hostname, change it

Suleman

  • Change of database host name

    Hi,
Recently we moved our database servers from IBM to exadata. This caused change in the host name of database. For this we reconfigured all the EPM (11.1.2.2) applications with new host name (with option to reuse existing tables). While reconfiguring we created new instance and new domain and configured everything in new domain, keeping old instance and domain untouched. However now when we log into HFM we are not able to see any applications nor any data.
    Please suggest what to do?
    Thanks in advance.

The process for rehosting a database is outlined at :
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40248_01/epm.1112/epm_deployment_options/ch04s03s02.html
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40248_01/epm.1112/epm_deployment_options/ch04s03s03.html
There is no need to create a new epm instance and weblogic domain

  • Change from Actual Host Name to a DNS alias

Here is our current standalone Oracle Application Server 10g configuration:
    Platform
UNIX Owner = ora10g (all services run from this account)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4
All services run from this host
    Database version 10.2.0.4.0
    Infrastructure
    Version = 10.1.2.3
    Installation Type Identity Management
    OHome = /ins01_app01/oracle/oraInfra
    UNIX Owner = ora10g
    MiddleTier
    Version = 10.1.2.3
Installation Type = Business Intelligence and Forms
    OHome = /ins01_app01/oracle/oraMidtier
Only two mid tier components contain apps we use:
Discoverer Viewer (integrated with EBS) and OC4J_Portal (for Web Services).
I’m new at this so please bear with me. I want to change the URL from the actual host name to a DNS alias. For example, the current URL for Discover Viewer:
    https://actualhost.dom.com/discoverer/viewer
I want to change the URL to use a DNS alias, such as this:
    https://devhost.dom.com/discoverer/viewer
I have reviewed the following documentation on how I might accomplish this task:
    Oracle® Application Server Administrator's Guide 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
    Chapter 8 Changing Network Configurations
8.2.2 Changing the Hostname, Domain Name, or IP Address of a Middle-Tier Installation
ID 734821.1 - chgiphost.sh Fails with java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError Can't find library pass (libpass.so or .so) in
    sun.boot.library.path or java.library.path
However, there are some questions I want to resolve before proceeding:
    1) Am I on the correct path with section “8.2.2 Changing the Hostname”
    2) How can I confirm the middle-tier instance is registered with Oracle Internet Directory and therefore must supply the orcladmin password during this procedure.
    3) Are there any specific to our installation that I might be missing.
    Thanks,
    Pat

    1. Yes you are on the right track.
    2. You can confirm by going to AS Control Console for Midtier; click on Infrastructure link, among the top left links; and see which OID it points to.
    3. you seem to be having it all.

Currently we are deploying an EAR file (which contains a web-app and an EJB) per

FYI - here is the entire content of applicaiton.xml in the EAR file we deploy:

No, you can't change that in the console. It's defined in the application's
    application.xml
    descriptor file.

  • Zombie Changes to Domain/Host Name in Mail Settings Window

For the second time since setting it up, the domain name has changed from "domain.com" to "local", and the host name has changed from "myserver.domain.com" to "myserver.local".
This tends to screw up my mail services.
I cannot determine why this would change, by itself, without any external intervention from anyone.
    Suggestions?

    Thanks for your reply!
The server is configured with static IP and running DHCP, DNS and mail, connectet to a D-Link router (the router also acting as a firewall). The DNS is configured with forwarder IP-addresses to the ISP and Google. Domain/hostname is changed from server.ljungh.net to server.local in postfix/main.cf (and other config files) and triggered if internet connection is lost by rebooting the router (or if internet connection to ISP is down for some other reason). Everything is working fine as long as the internet is up and running. The server is not acting as a firewall or multiple-network-controller.
    Output from changeip -checkhostname:
    Primary address = 192.168.0.196
    Current HostName = server.ljungh.net
    DNS HostName = server.ljungh.net
The names match. There is nothing to change.

What I have understood is that you recreated the EM repository. So where does "some of the future not working like date, etc." come into it? Are you checking date from EM ? Which application is not working, your application or EM or both or somethingn else? Tell us the complete version, error information and also post the output of

  • Problem with OAS Instance Name y Host Name to create trial ssl certificate

    Hi, everyone
I have a problem when creating a trial ssl certificate from Verisign page, affer a live assistance, that page rejected my CSR generated from OAS, saying thay my common name has invalid characters.
My Oracle Application Server installation name: Instance.HostName is:
    IAS_IND01.ind-internet
So, Verisign told me this name can't contain "_" or "-" characters for example.
I need to know if it's possible to change the instance name and if OAS host name changes also if i change server's host name.
I wouldn't like to reinstall all over again.
    Please help.
    Regards

    Hi,
No your AS server will not automatic. even if you change your host name.
If U 'll try to change your host name, be carefull when U 'll try to start you AS instacne
it ' not start anymore , AS user hosts fill to get full quallified name of your host.
    U 've two choices
-1 delete your AS, then change your hosts name, then new installtion of AS
2- If U 've exprience with AS, just breng your AS down, change your hosts name,
U 'll need to do some changes in your AS, just read admininstrator Guide.
    Cheers,

  • Locations of server host name in different SAP system files

    Hello,
We are implementing SAP ECC 6.0, with i5/OS V5R4 on IBM System i.
Could someone please guide me on the locations where the server host name exists in the different SAP system files.
We need to change this server host name, and the reason is that we succeeded lately in installing SAP on a new server using restore from entire system backup done on an old server where SAP is already installed, but we can't connect the new server to the LAN as the old server is still connected to it, and we can't have the same host name in the same LAN, even with two different IP addresses.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
    Best regards.
    Reda Khalifa

    Hi Reda
If the Host name is not the same..you may have to change in the startup/Instance/Default profiles, the new hostname...i.e..replace all the old hostnames with the new hostname....
Also ..you have to check the Data area R3_<NN> in R3<SID>400 library and check to make sure the hostnames correspond to the new hostname...
Then delete all the sql packages before you restart the system.
    Hope that helps
    Thanks

  • What cirtificate is require for oracle apps 11i?

    Hi All,
One of my friend is doing oracle apps training. He is a fresh engg. graduate.
What will be the best option to get into oracle apps -
    1.OCA/OCP cirtification or
    2.1Z0-200
Basically he wanted to enter in technical fields.
    Best Regards,

Oracle has now changed Oracle Apps DBA Certification track. New version now includes three exams focused on Apps DBA role (against previous Workflow & Sysadmin)
    1Z0-235 Apps DBA Fundamental I
    1Z0-236 Apps DBA Fundamental II
1Z0-233 11i Install patch and Maintain Applications
First two exams are same as 9i OCP so if you are 9i or 10g OCP , In order to clear Apps DBA Certification Track you just have to clear one exam i.e. 1Z0-233 11i Install patch and Maintain Applications
