Changing ownership of an IPAD?

I have an IPAD.  I want to give it to my wife. I want to retain the photos on the device but remove my music and add her mucis to the ipad.  I would alsl like to change the name from Mike's IPAD to Dee's IPAD.

For photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
For photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer (which has a free lite version called Simple Photo & Video Transfer) which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.
It is probably easiest to wipe the iPad after copying anything off it that you want (photos, films, documents etc), that way she can start as if from 'new' and can set it up as she wants it. You can restore to factory defaults via Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings.

  • How do I change ownership of an iPad?

Hi guys,  help me save an iPad !!
This is a tough one because I do not have access to the previous owner's ID password.   Talking about a 4th gen iPad, 32GB, iOS 8.3 with a badly shattered front glass.     My 5-year old grandson did this.   Done this sort of work before (old MacBook, inverter board), so I got the parts and instructions from ifixit.com and ready get to work on replacing the glass.   But ...., I needed to make sure we can use it fully.   It kept asking for the ID password.  I have already erased it with restore/iTunes connection after trying the other fixes in the book..    Of course, now I need the ID pw to activate it.      It's unusable now.
This is a divorce situation in a family member.    Go figure.     We are trying to get her to give us the pw or, remove the iPad from her "list of devices" in her iCloud account as specified by Apple instructions.      She has refused to help with this, though the iPad is her son's which I got for him for Christmas sometime ago.   We are still trying to get her cooperation on this.
OK, that's the sad story of a good, but dead,  iPad.
???  Question:    Is there any way to change ownership of this iPad without its ID pw ???       Well, I said it was a tough one !
    Hope and Thanks,   Mark

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities
Unfortunately it is impossible to change ownership of this device without having access to the previous owner's account.

  • I bought a new iPad Air and gave my ipad 2 to my partner. How can I change ownership and passwords and accounts to her.

I bought a new iPad Air and gave my old iPad 2 to my partner. If I add music or games etc to mine then they also appear on hers. Can i change ownership and passwords etc so they are individual iPads. Annoying when deleting one and also deletes other automatically an visa versa( add music to one and adds to other). I now hang a storage problems on iPad 2.

  • How do I change ownership of apps?

How do I change the ownership or Apple ID of apps I have purchased off the AppStore?
Some of my apps were purchased using an Apple ID similar to [email protected]  When  iCloud was launched I signed up for it and now have a Apple ID like [email protected]
I want to change ownership of apps from the gmail account to the iCloud account.  I don't want to have to sign in and and out of the AppStore on my iPhone, iPad and Mac to update apps.
Any help on this matter will be appreciated.

Thanks for that link.  Yes, it does clearly state Apple wont allow merging of Apple ID content.  Apple should reconsider this standpoint. Hopefully they will in the future.  Its only a matter of changing a record on their AppStore database.
Its about 40/60 for the apps I have under my Gmail ID and my iCloud ID.  I will keep with iCloud and login into my Gmail ID when I've got lots of apps to update.
Its a pain, but not the end of the world.  It must be frustrating for people with lots of apps on lots of devices.
I am fairly new to Apple, however I feel the whole product ethos is much better than the Windows/PC approach.  I can't stand the fact I have to have a Microsoft email address just login into Windows 8.  I wish I had moved over to Apple years ago.

  • Change ownership from "system" on mounted volume?

I have an external firewire drive with 3 partitions all of which are mounted on an iMac, and which until recently all had the same ownership and permission settings under my admin account. One of the volumes (the one storing all the users' iTunes songs) somehow changed ownership to "system" and group to "wheel". I can no longer access the volume nor can the other user accounts on the iMac, although it shows up as a mounted volume when viewed in Disk Utility. "Repair permissions" is unavailable for this volume in Disk Utility. The other two volumes are unaffected and retain the original ownership settings. I'd like to reset ownership from "system" to my admin account, but do not know how to do so as apparently it needs to be done through unix commands using Terminal. What do I need to do?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

"...under Ownership & Permissions, click on the lock, enter your password, and change the Owner to you, with R&W access and the Group to admin, also w/R&W access, and click o Apply to enclosed items. Click the lock and close the Info window. No need to use Unix commands in the Terminal app."
I first tried that approach but unfortunately the procedure does not work. Under Ownership & Permissions it says "You have No Access". I can click on the lock and select my name under Details: Owner, but once I click to relock, Owner just reverts back to "system".

  • How do I change ownership on iTunes Match from one account to another?

I purchased iTunes Match using one account but use another as my account for iCloud and my iPhone. How do I change ownership of my Match account?

I don't think you can.  Purchases made with an account are tied permanently to that account.  This is the reason why it is not a good idea to have more than one iTunes account unlesss you really need to keep them separate.

How does one change ownership of an event?
We are running OCS 9.0.4.2 on redhat enterprise linux 3.0
I have a calendar entry which I got from:
    mySess.fetchEventsByRange(Api.CSDK_FLAG_STREAM_NOT_MIME | Api.CSDK_FLAG_FETCH_EXCLUDE_DAILYNOTES |
    Api.CSDK_FLAG_FETCH_EXCLUDE_DAYEVENTS, hand, in_start, in_end, eventProp, result);

So now I'm trying to save the event under the new owner using this:
    mySess.storeEvents(Api.CSDK_FLAG_STORE_MODIFY,event,result);
    where event reads as follows:

    END:VCALENDAR
And i've run mySess.setIdentity to change to the old owner and new owner with no success?
Please how does one change the owner of an event?

The Calendar Sdk doesn't allow you to change the ownership of an event. (ORGANIZER value).

  • I bought a new laptop with Windows 7. My computer name in Windows has changed, and now, my Ipad can't find Itunes

I bought a new laptop with Windows 7. My computer name in Windows has changed, and now, my Ipad can't find Itunes, and Itunes can't find my Ipad. [email protected]

Ok, if reinstalling iTunes as suggested above does not resolve the issue of iTunes recognising the iPad then try this -
Firstly, make sure that your device is not hidden (left hand pane). If it just reads device then toggle between SHOW and HIDE.
Secondly, try all the other ports on your computer, even a number of times.
Thirdly, make sure your lead /connections are no faulty.
Fourthly, if you have another computer try plugging your device into it without taking any action, give it a moment, remove it and try it back in your other computer again.
Failing all that, see here - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
And failing all that put the device into Recovery mode. See here and note the paragraph 'If you restore from a different computer.... ' down near the bottom of the page -
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/itunes/
As for making your new laptop your 'home computer' follow these instructions -
    1. Without connecting your iPad to your computer -
    A) Install iTunes / make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed.
    B) Go to the Store tab and click on "Authorise This Computer".
    C) Go to Edit, click on Preferences [iTunes and Preferences on Macs] and click on Devices. Put a check mark in the box next to "Prevent  iPods/iPhones/iPads from syncing automatically". Click OK and close iTunes.
    2.  Connect your iPad to your computer -
    A) Start iTunes (it will not start automatically because of the action at 1(C) above).
    B) Right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select "Transfer purchases".
    C) When the transfer has completed, right click on your iPad again and select "Backup".
    D) When the backup has completed, left click on your iPad, click on the Apps tab, and put a check mark in the box next to "Sync Apps", and then click on "Apply" (bottom right).
    E) Unless you want to always do a manual sync (as I do), go back to Edit, Preferences [iTunes and Preferences on Macs] and uncheck the box next to "Prevent your iPod.....".
    F) Finally, on your iPad, check that everything is syncing properly. If not, go back to iTunes and check all settings.
NB You should not lose any apps. However, any 'purchased' missing apps can be downloaded again FOC. As with updates, this must be done with the Apple ID under which they were originally 'purchased'.
Also see here as to moving your music to your new computer -

  • Is there any way that I can change ownership (not authorization) of a song so that I don't have to go between my parent's family account and my new account?

So a little backstory i joined the army and get to go home and use the account where the majority of my music is very little, but now when i try transferring these songs to a new device some of them aren't authorized, and I don't want to go through this every time i get a new computer or ipod/iphone.  Is there any way that i can change ownership of a song or other file so that a different account is the one to authorize its use?

    No.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
        1.    First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
        2.    Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
        3.    If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

Apple does not take trade-ins. In a few countries Apple does work with a company who will give you some return on an existing device; for the US, see:
    http://www.apple.com/recycling/gift-card/
Similar programs are available in a few other countries, and some dealers may have their own trade-in programs. But you most probably can get more for your device if you sell it yourself, as Eric suggested.

  • Change ownership of entire hard drive

I just installed a second hard drive to house all of my music files, and mounted it to /media, then transferred all of my files to it.  The problem is, I used samba to transfer all of the files from my XP box, so all the directories/files are owned by root, and it would take my a day and a half to chown each individual directory.  Is there an easy way to change ownership of the entire drive/directory?  Sorry for the noob question but google and man chown didn't really help me much.

    Use the recursive switch:
    chown -R USERNAME:users /media
where USERNAME is your user name.

  • How do you change the language in iPad Pages?

How do you change the language in iPad Pages? I tried lookin for it but I can't find it.

What a lot of confusion in this discussion!
The language of a text is a property of the text itself. If the keyboard or the language of the OS of the computer is changes afterwards, the language of the text remains what it was.
Only at the moment when text is typed the keyboard settings may be used to identify the language. If you are able to imagine a text composed of sentences in different languages you should be able to understand this.
Changing the keyboard in order to change the spellckeck only works at the moment of typing. With texts written earlier it is meaningless.
When I import a document written in German on my Mac to my iPhone and iPad, Pages on iPhone and iPad do niot recognise that the text is German. The spelling checker underlines everything. And what people complain about here is that we do not find the place where to tell Pages that the existing, imported text is written in a certain language.
Please stop mixing this up with keyboard issues!

  • How can I change ownership on locked folder? (error 120)

I had to create a new user after my previous (file vault) sparse image became corrupt. Fortunately I had backup and I'm getting things back to normal with a new user name.
But several of the folders and files on my secondary internal drive are now locked as read only. The owner is the old name (of the corrupted user folder).
How can I unlock the folders to change ownership and permissions to my current user name? I am logged in as an administrator. Whenever I try I get an error code 120.
    G5 dual 1.8   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Solved it. Checked the "ignore ownership" box on the secondary drive and I can unlock the folders. Works for now.
