Changing pages and uploading pictures.

I am uploading my website to Godaddy. No .mobile me. I want members of my site to be able to upload pictures, change backgrounds, add music or videos. change the look of there page. I might be going out of my realm here, but if someone could guide me and than I will determine if I should go on. Also there would have to be a password for each user so no one can go to there page and make changes. Is there a service,templates or a generator that you can get where you can deign a page for users to modify?

No, now with iWeb. iWeb creates and edits the site locally and then uploads the changes to the server.
There may be some online site hosting services that let you do everything online where you might be able to do what you want. Everyone would have access to the account to make changes/additions. I'm not familiar with any.

Uploading changed pages AND images

Hi
this is probably possible, but cannot find a shortcut or
extension to do it. When I changed a web page, it frequently
involves changed an image or image property. The CNTRL/SHIFT U
saves and uploads the page, but does not include changed images?
The synchronise utility takes far too long on a large site to
upload changed files.
I am wondering if there is a shortcut, or way of adapting the
upload function to include ALL changed files on a webpage.
One long winded work around is to change the file display to
'modified' but images are in a separate directory to html files, so
that involves hunting through directories to uploaded modified
files.
Is there a way of displaying modified files, or a way of
modifiying code to that the put command includes images?

If your page is that graphically heavy, then you would have
other problems.
But, the good news is that if the timestamp on the local and
the remote
files are the same, then they are not uploaded. So, you are
not uploading
all of the images - only those that have been changed.

You can do that already, but not with quite that granularity.
From the
expanded site panel, use EDIT | Select Recently Modified
Files.
Unfortunately, your options are only by days.

You can work your photos on your Mac just like you did on Windows, but you've chosen to use a database with lossless processing. So there is a learnign curve if you change not only your OS but you're entire system of managing your photos.

Questions about resizing and uploading pictures ...

I have set up a desktop folder, and can store my resized pictures there through the export function in iPhoto. When I export though, there doesn't seem to be any way to export directly to that folder. Instead, I have to export to the desktop, then drag all those files into my desktop folder. Is there any way to export my resized photos directly into that folder without having to first go to the desktop, then the folder? It just seems like extra steps.
Another nuisance I'm encountering is uploading to sites like eBay and PhotoBucket. If I chose to browse files on my computer, all that opens is the iPhoto icon rather than individual image files. I know I can drag and drop, but is there any way of directly accessing either the individual images in iPhoto or the desktop shortcut which contains my resized images?
I am coming off years of working with Windows, and their system of simply opening My Pictures and selecting the images you want to upload seems much simpler than this.
I am running OS X Mavericks with a MacBook Air 2013.

Iphoto and uploading pictures

I am having problems with my photos on my mac. I have them all organized into folders in iphoto. But then, when I go to email pictures, or share pictures on snapfish.com, I cannot locate my folders in iphoto. The pictures are completely disorganized. I think they are divided by roll # instead of in the folders I created for them in iphoto. Anyone know how to find the iphoto folders when trying to upload? Thank you!!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Because iPhoto is a database application, you are supposed to stay out of the iPhoto Library folder altogether. Rooting around in there from the Finder is a recipe for disaster, as any changes you make will damage your database. In addition, your Albums and Folders are virtual entities that exist only in the database file; they don't exist in any folder structure accessible from the Finder.
The sanctioned way of doing this is to select the photos using iPhoto (not the Finder). Then do File > Export > File Export to a folder on your Desktop. You have the option to rename the exports or resize them for better performance in an email. Select the exports for your email or uploading, then delete them when you are finished. Exports are copies; your files remain safe in the library.

ICloud and uploading pictures problem

I have the newest ipad and the 4s iphone. I have iCloud but sometimess when I take pictures on my phone they are not showing up on my ipad. what could be the issue?

What did you upgrade to mt lion from? Was your email setup manually at one point? If it was, remove the account, and then make sure you're signed into the icloud preferences in system preferences and mail is checked off. That will automatically setup your email in the mail.app.
Just make sure your mail shows up properly at icloud.com before removing the account from the mail.app, first.

I just downloaded LR and uploaded pictures to edit. The pictures display on the bottom carousel, but when I click on a specific image I want to edit, it won't display on the main screen. Why is it doing that?

Can anyone advise on how to make the picture you select display on the main screen (Loupe view)?

FTP clients/upload only changed pages

I've been reading all the posts related to uploading sites created with iWeb to a non .Mac acccount using various FTP clients, and just want to make sure I am understanding this correctly. I use Fetch to upload my two sites to a godaddy.com account. No problems, everything works fine. My sites don't have a lot of pages right now, so I don't care that the whole thing is uploaded every time I make a small change or add a new page. But if my site increases in size & takes a long time to upload, I'd like there to be a way to only upload the changed or new pages. Am I correct in thinking that as of now, none of the FTP clients available are able to do that?

you're right: none of the FTP clients is able to do that with iWeb.
That's what I think why it is so (yet not 100% sure): FTP clients compare the file size and the date a file was edited. If they see it changed they upload that file. If not they kind of skip it.
The "problem" now is that when you export an iweb-website to a folder the files are marked as "created the day and time" you exported it. And that's why (I repeat, I'm not 100% sure) the ftp client doesn't skip the files because the answer from the server is "the file on the computer is newer than the file I have".
(To the pros who read that: please correct me if I'm wrong so that I can learn and don't make mistakes twice...)
BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO is manually selct the files you want to be uploaded. Say you change something in the index file, you can go to your ftp client select the index file and then upload only the index file (I do that all the time with one or more files).
If you add pages that do not appear in the nav bar, means that on a page you have links to that pages, in your ftp client you can select the pages you added and the page you inserted the links to those pages and upload only those.
Now I'm not sure about adding a page that appears in the nav bar, I would try it but my page has a lot of pages and it takes forever to export to folder but you could try... (please tell me the outcome) But I think that it works with those pages too (I think the nav bar will be updated in the whole site even if not re-uploading them all)

Adding blog page + First upload - Takes a while! - Then watch it fly!

I just thought that I would share this with everyone
Having been running my site for quite a while now, without too many problems I decided that it was time to add a blog!
I follow this forum and one thing that I have noticed in the past is comments about upload time. But luckily for me this has never really been a problem, I add one page and upload it, and never has it been unreasonable (a couple of times I had to resubmit because it didn't like a picture). But I have never changed the picture, just hit Publish again! So I was really shocked last night when I published my first blog page, two failures due to pictures and on the third attempt it went through, but it did take a loooong time..
Looking at my iDisk, all of the .html files in the top level folder were modified during upload, but I stuck with it.
Today I added a second entry to my blog, and I must say, WOW! Back to the old speed that i love and know!
It seems that the first blog creation takes a while but after this all is back to normal.

I have two photos the same as you, one large (I should have resized!), one not. When viewing the site you only see the smaller one.
Yes I have RSS, and when I click the button, in safari, I get an RSS feed of my blog and the large images are there as icons, which when clicked load in safari.
I am just off to resize them now, i think 800*600 should be enough.

Editing and uploading

I created a page in iWeb and published it on iPage. The upload was messed up and I talked to iPage who told me something about an ampersand and Unix that caused the problem and they were able to do something at their end that corrected the problem in a few minutes (the site is rykline.com) My question is, if I make a change on my iWeb page and upload it again, does the entire page replace the original upload or do only the changes affect it. Obviously, if the whole page is replaced, the same problem will probably reoccur.

Try this to find out :
Add a page page (with an ampersand?), publish and view the result.
And yes, everytime you make changes the entire file is published. It's not iWeb specific. All files on your computer or elsewhere are usually replaced in their entirety.
And if they fixed the problem on their side, and not on your side, there's no reason to expect a problem when you publish your pages.
BTW, why hasn't your page a proper filename?

User can not upload pictures to Wiki....

I got a strange problem: One of our users can not upload pictures to our OS X Server (10.8.5) Wiki anymore. If the user edits a page and uploads an image, the picture shows up in the page, but the progress indicatior of the upload runs forever. Saving the page hangs also - the only option is to manually re-load the page, but then the impages are gone, of course.
The strange thing is, on pages the user has uploaded images before (some weeks ago), uploading new images works! I had a look at the wiki log file but did not see anything suspect. The client is Windows with latest Firefox. But we have other users on Windows/Firefox that work perfect.
Does someone has an idea where to look for the problem?

Take a look at the following things to help your diagnosis:
Is it the computer or the user account that's causing the problem ?
Let that user try the same thing using a different browser.
Copy one of the images that does work on another user's computer to the computer that doesn't work and try that one.
Vice versa.

My apps have all moved on top of each other in the top left corner if I drag them back every time I change page then change back they go back to the corner .what have I done

Try a Reset... press the home and sleep/lock buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
