Changing Pages Default Document

Whenever I try to save a Pages document in Mountain Lion it always defaults to 'iCloud' I would like to change it to a folder on my local disk. When I make the selection on my hard disk, it always reverts back to iCloud when I try to save the next document.

The title of your topics lead me to think you were going to ask about changing the settings of a default new document. But you're asking about the default save location. You have a couple of options:
1. Uncheck Documents & Data in System Preferences > iCloud
2. Launch Terminal & paste in this line. I have found it stops working after awhile & you need to repeat the process.
defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSDocumentSaveNewDocumentsToCloud -bool false

  • Making Pages Default Document Viewer

How do I change the default program for opening text documents to Pages? Currently whenever I open a document it opens in TextEdit by default.

Highlight a .txt document in the Finder, highlight it & choose Get Info from the File menu. In the Get Info box, click the triangle next to "Open With." Click on this drop-down menu & choose Pages. If Pages is not a choice, choose "Other" & navigate to the Pages application. Now click the "Change" button under the text that asks if you want to open all documents like this with Pages. You can then double-click the .txt documents & they will open in Pages. Note that the icon for the .txt files will have a plain, white icon.

  • Change Xcode default document name?

    Hi guys,
I have a document based Core Data project here and I dislike the fact that that when I go "Save As" it says "Untitled". How can I change this?
    Thanks,
    Ricky.

Thank you for replying.  However, the reply is about adding a comment to a PDF, not the author of the PDF document itself.
The Author is seen by opening up the PDF file itself, and then File > Properties.  You can see a screen shot below.
When this pop-up screen is open, you can manually change the name of that author for that one document.  However, I can't figure out how to change the name that Adobe uses by default (for example, I want the Author to be just my first name, not the entire name I used when I installed the product (which is what I changed it to for this one document)).
How do I change the default Author name?
    Thank you
    Jason

  • How do you make pages default document reader

    Hi
I have just started using pages and i cant seem to work out how to make it the default application to open up the many documents i have.
Every time i open a document it opens in textedit, i know that you can choose in properties with which program to open it with, but i am getting really fed up of doing this.
is there any way to make pages the default instead of textedit program.

p.s I used to use MS office but i cant be bothered to reinstall it and most of my docs are .doc (office format)

    kb,
You can set .doc files to open in Pages, and it’s surprisingly easy: just go to the Finder, single-click on any .doc file, then type command-I (Get Info). Click on the Open With... menu and select Pages (or navigate to Pages if it’'s not in the menu). To make all .doc files open in Pages, click on the Change All button.
You can do the same thing with other types of files, like RTF or plain text.

You mean for Office apps? That, I don't know for sure as I don't use MS Office on my Mac. I would check to see if there is some sort of MS Office uninstaller that needs to be run before dragging the icons to Trash. Either from one of the Office apps Help or About or search the Internet for a solution.
EDIT: A quick Google search found this link which may help you.

  • User Exit for MIRA to default document type

Is there any user exit in MIRA ,which can change the default document type .Because normally the document type is defaulted in the customization ,all the user exits which are available have the incoming structure (INVFO) in which the document type(INVFO-BLART) is coming as IMPORT parameter (e.g.  EXIT_SAPLFDCB_001),hence it cannot be changed .
I would like to default the document type based on company codes .
Please let me know if there is any other way of doing this.

Try setting the check boxes in Edit>Preferences>General for the following:

Adjust these as needed but does it make any difference?

  • How do I change the default settings for opening documents on my macbook?

Hi I would like to know how to change the default settings for opening documents on my macbook. Everytime I try to open a doc. it automatically opens with Textedit, instead of Pages or another program.

Select any particular document you wish to fix. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the Open With section select the desired Default Application from the dropdown menu. Click on the Change All button to extend the change to all similar documents.
You can only assign one default application to one type of document.

  • Anyone know how to change the default font for the new pages? Apparently it does not even come up when I search the 'Help' section of Pages. The level of incompetence in this new version seems breathtaking

I cannot find how to change the default font in the new Pages. It does not appear in the Help area when I search for it. I am never sing Helvetica for my standard documents and cannot seem to change it. What am I missing? And why does Pages help not have an easy answer?

You open a blank template and change the font to you liking. Remember to also get all the styles changed with new font. Then Save As Template. Now you have a template with the font you like.

  • How do I change the default program to open Pages docs to the old (4.3) version instead of the new one (5.0)?

How do I change the default program to open Pages docs to the old (4.3) version instead of the new one (5.0)? When I do what Apple said and go to a Pages file in finder and select "get info" then select "Pages 4.3" and "change all" it just defaults to the new one even though I'd selected the old one. Do I need to completely uninstall the new version of Pages or is there another work around because the new version of Pages comes dreadfully short of the features I need that are included in the old one?

    Eric Kraft wrote:
HOWEVER, if you modified a document in 5.0, 4.3 can't open it. You'll have to use Time Machine to replace the modified version with an earlier version that was last modified in 4.3.
    Actually there is a workaround.
If you open the file in Pages 5, it can then be exported on Pages 0.9 format to another folder. I had to do this as the document was only in iCloud and couldn't be recoverd by Time Machine.
    Worked for me!

  • How do i change the default Page Setup settings?

I have a recurring "bug" - whenever i open a PDF - and usually when i create new files (in any program), the default setting is to have it print horizontally at 65%.
to be more concise, if i open a blank document in "Text Edit" as an example and go to Page Setup - its already set to 65%, rotated horizontal - - instead of vertical orientation at 100%.....
This is frustrating, as I often forget this - go to print a PDF - and it comes out very small and rotated 90 degrees.
This even happened when i recently got a new printer and had to install / setup a new driver.
I was able to get it to stop a long time ago by deleting all of my printers and starting over from scratch - but the problem quickly resurfaced.
(I think it may have something to do with receiving a PDF from a third party that had this setting to allow me to print a larger drawing onto letter sized paper - - but it seems to overtake all of my files as default.)
I hope i explained this clearly.....what i would like to do is know how to definitively change this "default" setting.....

Hi, no idea why AAPL said what was said, just too busy I think!?
Anyway, have you tried File>Page Setup..., then setting the Scale, Size, & Orientation, then same Window>Settiungs>Page Attributes>Save as Default... or even the Restore Original Defaults there?

  • Change Default Document Size Attribute

I understand that I can make a custom attribute that displays the size in KB, MB, etc -
But I want to know how to edit the default Document Size attribute - surely that is possible?

@Steve – you are totally clear what you are doing and what you like to do.
But I fear an automatic setting that is creating the page size according to an asset's size does not exist right now.
I can change the size of a new document beforehand, if no document is open and create a new size in the document's properties dialog with the keyboard shortcut alt + cmd + p (in my German InDesign on Mac OSX 10.7.5). But you have to know in advance what size that should be.
Example: If I chose A3 instead of A4 (my default) when no document is open and double click an asset in a CC Library the asset will be placed in a one page document sized A3.
    1. Changing the size (no document is open) in my German UI of InDesign CC-2014.2:
    2. Double click and the result is according to the settings I made:

  • Change the default font in Pages (version 5.0.1)?

Overall I really like the changes to the iWork suite but an annoying feature is that all new documents in Pages seem to have the font set to Helvetica 11. Everything I need Pages for requires me to use Times New Roman 12, and I work in Pages all day. Everytime I create a new document, I have to change it from Helvetica 11 to Times New Roman 12. I've looked for how to change the default but I don't see it. Any help here?
    Many thanks in advance,
