Changing Password for Users

Hi All,
I am using External Table Authentication for my users.I have created users along with their password in the database table.The problem arises
when I am trying to change the password for the users in "My Account" page of the Presentation Services.I am getting an error like
"The Oracle BI Server encountered an unknown error while attempting to change your password".
Please can anyone help me to get out of this problem.It's quite urgent.

This is a bug in the 10.1.3.2 version,I believe. It is fixed in later versions

In "USER MAINTENANCE- SU01" --> in the "logon tab" there are 5 different "user type"
1. dialog
2. system
3. communication
4. service
5. reference
Kindly mention the function and role of all the above mentioned user types specifically and hows is one user type different from another.
These are as follows:-
1. Dialogue:-
For this kind of users:-
GUI login is possible.
Initial password and expiration of passowrd are checked.
Multi GUI logins are checked.
Usage:- These are used for GUI logins.
2. System
For this kind of users:-
GUI login is not possible.
Initial password and expiration of passowrd are not checked.
Usage:- These are used for internal use in system like background jobs.
3. Communication
For this kind of users:-
GUI login is not possible.
Users are allowed to change password through some software in middle tier.
Usage:- These are used for login to system through external systems like web application
4. Service
For this kind of users:-
GUI login is possible.
Initial password and expiration of passowrd are not checked.
Multiple logins are allowed.
Users are not allowed to change the password. Only admin can change the password
Usage:- These are used for anonymous users. This type of users should be given minimum authorization.
5. Reference
For this kind of users:-
GUI login is not ible.
Initial password and expiration of passowrd are not checked.
Usage:- These are special kind of users which are used to give authorization to other users.

Unable to turn on 'change password' for users

Hi. I've enabled web, wiki and opendirectory in lion server, but I can't enable users to change their passwords, because the option to modify my default web site in the Web pane in server admin is greyed out. I've read the documentation, but I'm stuck at this point. Any suggestions?

Also from the looks of your screen shot you don't have Open directory set up. The best way to set up Open Directory is by configuring Profile Manager's device management and follow the resulting screens. Next you need to re-create your users in OD.

This condition based execution requires - javascript coding.
In miscelleaneous tools bar, you have an option of SCRIPT_ITEM writer tool, drag the tool into your WAD layout, and select the properties , choose the editor option and paste your coding. that's it.
Alternate option :
in your web application design layout , you will fine XHTML coding editor , there you need to write coding and execute the same.

I have a Mac Pro using Lion, with a SSD for system. Restored drive from backup. Now logon password doesn't work. Account password still works. Changing password in user group preferences no longer works to change logon password.

Now drive seems to work properly, BUT my logon password no longer works. Password OK for account; can access system preferences, and change user password there BUT logon still refuses to accept password. No luck changing password for that account after adding new administrator account and logging on from that account. Suggestions? Thanks.

If you redirect Accounts to another location (not on the Boot Drive) you need to direct them back there again after a restore.
SystemPreferences > Accounts/User&Groups > ...
... Unlock the lock, then hold down Control as you click on an Account to get access to the Advanced Options pane.

If you're in the Users pane of the server app, and you select Network Users from the drop-down near the top, there's a small padlock icon at the bottom. Is it locked or open? If locked, click it and enter credentials into the authorisation box that opens

Follow the undermentioned steps to change the password:
1) Change the password from oim Design Client as usual.
2) Open xlconfig.xml present in <XL_HOME>\xellerate\config folder.
3) This step is optional and should only be used if you have a <XLPassword encrypted> tag in the <Scheduler> section. In the scheduler section, change the encrypted="true" to encrypted="false" and replace existing encrypted password with new clear text password, as shown below:

4) Restart server.

Steps to find the password for users as sysdba

What are the steps to find the password for users in dba_users as sysdba?
It is in encrypted form ? How can I view it ?
Pls tell in steps ?

When he can change password why can't he view ?Can you see the users password on a windows domain? No
Can you see the users password on a Unix box? No
Can you see the users password on a mail server? No
Why would it be different in Oracle?
Why is hacking coming here ?Because it's something against the way the software works.
This can, and is, dangerous to let the administrator (Oracle, MsSQL, Win*, Unix,...) know the users password for so many reasons. For example:
. Privacy
. Etiquette
. Password reuse (password reused for Bank account, etc)
. [insert a whole bunch of other good reasons I'm not going to bother writing]
And anyway it is useless!

The IMAP server ... rejected the password for user ...

When I went to bed last night, Apple Mail (Lion, MacBook Pro) worked fine on my home IMAP server, as they have done for some time.
This morning, I cannot log in and I now get the following error message:
The IMAP server “...” rejected the password for user “...”.
The password is definitely correct. I have typed in the password repeatedly (although it was already correct) to no avail - I just get the same error message again.
Since then, I have tried:
my Linux laptop using Thunderbird
my Xoom (running Android ICS) and K9
my SGS2 (running Honeycomb) and K9
my iPad 2 using IOS Mail
Roundcube (webmail client) on the MacBook Pro itself (so no connectivity issues)
and all still work perfectly. There have been no changes to my mail server (which is Dovecot running on Debian Squeeze, which has been running flawlessly for years) and none to my MacBook Pro (unless they were silent).
I have tried deleting all the relevant items from my keychain, but that has made no difference either.
Any ideas because I'm stumped?

Since I posted this, there has been more, but slightly different, weirdness.
In the middle of a session yesterday, Apple Mail started to do something different. When I typed in the password, it briefly worked (downloading one or two messages) and then the error dialogue box popped up again so clearly the password was always correct.
A short while later, it accepted the password and stopped complaining until ten minutes ago. This time I only had to type in the password once and it is working at the moment but who knows how long for?

Many users. For each individual write permissions in the file /etc/security/audit_user not possible, it is likely to forget any new user (or there is a possibility in this file one line to describe the audits for all accounts?)
Where is the mistake?

You are most likely hitting Bug 15779000 user/role/groupadd/mod/del don't audit their use.
And the fix is only available in S11.2.

If you forgot or lock "Administrator or J2EE_ADMIN" password just follow below steps:
STEP-1: Enable "SAP*"
1.Start the Config Tool C:\usr\sap\<SID>\<engine-instance>\j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat
Ex: D:\usr\sap\F02\JC00\j2ee\configtool --> configtool.bat
2.Goto cluster-data --> Global server configuration --> services --> com.sap.security.core.ume.service
3.Double-click on the property "ume.superadmin.activated = TRUE"
4.Double-click on the property "ume.superadmin.password=<Enter any password ex: abc123>"
5.Save.
6.Restart the engine.
STEP-2: Login with "SAP*" into portal
1. http://<host>:<Port>/useradmin/index.jsp
2. Enter userid / password as" SAP* / <password ex: abc123>"
3. Search for "Administrator" user
4. Reset or change password for "Administrtor"
STEP-3: Disable "SAP*"

Mail: The POP server rejected the password for user

I am completely unable to use Mail.
I keep getting the "The POP server rejected the password for user" on two of my accounts.
The password has not changed and I have entered it correctly.
The accounts just will not go online.
This started yesterday when an old machine accidentally fired up mail and tried to connect using the same user details. Since then, my MacBook Pro is not able to connect to my mail.
My iPad and my iPhone can. There is no problem at the server or the ISP. I have also run the Keychain repair utility.
Please can you advise how I should fix it? Plist? Define the accounts again?

Sorry I can't be of help, I know of others with this problem. In my case I have two accounts that don't work in Mail whilst the other accounts do. I suspect it may be a bug as I've been looking for a solution for sometime. My current solution is to collect the mail on those accounts with an XP netbook which is probably not very helpful!
I have also tried the Keychain repair and at least for a short while it looked as if it had fixed it.
Any ideas anybody before I go through the hassle of reinstalling everything?
