Changing physical orientation of video?

I shot some video with my digital camera and somehow the orientation of the video is horizontal rather than vetical. Is there someway to change the orientation in FCP?

1.)I tried both 90 and -90, though it did not seem to change in either the Video or Canvas. What do I need to do to see the change made?
2.) I'm guessing if I scale it, the quality is going to look poor because I am stretching the pixels more than it was intended?

I tried the Export function but it would not allow me to choose the option of exporting to iMovie. I think you are right about needing Quicktime Pro. I opened iMovie and imported the clip from iPhoto and with some searching found the 'cropping, rotation' mechanism. So I now have a copy in the correct orientation. I plan to import/export it back to iPhoto because I want to have a copy on my iPhone to show people and I wanted to have it available as part of a slideshow I am making in iPhoto of my recent overseas trip. It is a pain that there is no simple orientating tool for the movie clips downloaded to iPhoto with the photos from the one camera.

Video restarts when users change the orientation of their device

Is there any way of preventing a video from restarting (the video is a link to a youtube), if the orientation of the device is changed while watching the video?

I think that´s something local, because I use some youtube videos with some fairly large videos and do not restart.

If you think about it, you'll see that the mouse orientation must match the orientation of the screen. Otherwise, if you have a portrait orientation on the screen and a landscape orientation of the mouse, how would you navigate to the top most and bottom most areas of your display?
If your problem is that the mouse now requires too much desk space in navigating from the top of the screen to the bottom, go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Mouse and adjust the Tracking Speed higher and the Scrolling Speed higher, so that you move greater screen distance with less physical motion of the mouse.

IPad orientation in video

I have my video done but of course it is turned wrong when trying to play it. Is there something I can do to change that orientation on the completed video? And what can I do about it the next time so this doesn't happen. I can't redo this video as it was of my students..... Thanks - I appreciate all of you.

How to change page orientation in Pages?

Hi,
I would like to change page orientation for Just one page inside a document.
Say I have page 3 that I want to be landscape and not vertical, how can I do it?
I haven't been able to find this in Pages, I found it in Word though.
Any idea?

The rotation in Preview is just a simple command in the .pdf. It all seems to sort itself out in printing, Acrobat has the occasional odd moment where pages are rotated from their real orientation. It is like the "cropping" in .pdf files which really doesn't cut anything off it just changes the bounding box so what you see appears to be cropped.

Hi Ravi,
I could see that orientation in change mode, I suggest to show that to ur basis guy for change authorizations.
May be you are displying the form in different langauge (non-original langauage)

Acrobat 9 changes print orientation

Acrobat 9 has suddenly started changing the orientation when printing - sometimes it prints in landscape instead of protrait - sometimes in portrait orientation but rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise. Any ideas on why this is happening?

Thanks for the response. The auto-rotate and center box was checked - and Acrobat printed in portrait orientation, but rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise. So I unchecked the box, and Acrobat printed in landscape orientation (should have been portrait).

Changing the orientation of an envelope

Hi,
I have the simplest problem and I can't for the life of me figure out the solution.
I want to print a 4.5x9 envelope, standard size, but I can't figure out how to change the orientation of the envelope from horizontal to vertical to print it. If I change the page set up it changes the page but the text stays where it is. I just need to flip the envelope around so I can print it vertically.
Help?

You don't need to change the orientation of the text on screen, just set it up in Page setup and print.

It's not "near impossible" - it's just not possible in Pages. You have a few options - rotate the contents of the page, export or print to PDF & rotate the page in Preview or use Microsoft Office. Pages is not Word & it costs just a fraction of what Word does.

1. No, Reader can't change the orientation of a PDF file. That can only be done in the original program that created the PDF, or the page size could be changed in (paid) Adobe Acrobat.
2. No, Reader can't change the display of a PDF. But if you have an iPad, you can change the display orientation of the PDF if you haven't locked that feature on the iPad. Go to Settings > General > Use Side Switch to: Lock Rotation (check). Then use the side switch on the iPad to allow display rotation.

Changing date on a video clip in iMovie.

I'm having trouble changing the date on videos that I drop into iMovie. If I change the date once, and then try to amend it later, it will only move it to the day's current date. It never seems to accept another date other than the one I first used. This makes cateloging new additions of clips very difficult. Am I doing something wrong or can you only change the date once on any given clip. My only solution seems to be bringing in the footage all over again and this is horribly time consuming. I appreciate any help anyone can give me on this problem.

Hi pdfac - you will find that the culprit is the effect that you have added. Photos without added effects will display in the Photos Pane, but those with an effect added will not. It will be necessary to remove the effect. Just select the pic in the Timeline or Clips View, and hit 'Delete. That removes the effect but not the pic. Now the duration can be adjusted. If you have added effects to quite a few that need duration adjustments, by selecting them all, you can do the operation all at one go.
Note - you do not have to trash the photos and start again!
You cannot change the duration by double-clicking, because the pics have become video clips, as a result of having the Ken Burns box ticked. The quality is best if the box IS ticked.
