Changing podcast album name??

Hi all,
I created a podcast about two months ago. However, I've recently decided I need to reformat the name, and the album name.
Old Album Name: Regeneration - The Epistle of 1st Peter Series
New Album Name: Regeneration - The First Epistle of Peter Series
I went through and changed all my .mp3 files to reflect the new change, and then also updated the.xml file for the feed.
While all 10 of the episodes are appearing in one feed within my iTunes application (for Windows) under the new name, when I go to my Music library within Windows 7 File Manager, there are now two different directories. One uses the original album name, while the other uses the newer name.
Next, I unsubscribed, and deleted the feed off my laptop computer, and then resubscribed. However, it's still not creating one physical directory.
What is the proper procedure to change a podcast album name, and get that information into the iTunes Music Store so that all episodes are in the newer named album directory?
I made the change approximately eight 10 hours ago, so I know iTunes has had the time to crawl through the .xml and update their feed.
Thanks!
Robert

You're misunderstanding what I said earlier though.
I went ahead and completely REMOVED the feed out of my local copy of iTunes. After unsubscribing, I deleted the now empty local folder within File Explorer. In essence, my copy of iTunes shouldn't know that I ever subscribed to the podcast feed.
I then subscribed again to the feed. Logically, it should create a brand new folder within Windows because the feed only references the new album name. HOWEVER, two albums are still being created locally on my computer, with the folders being populated with the pre-change album names/files.
Hope that's more clear.
Thanks for writing back.
Robert

  • If I change the Album Name, the Album Column still sorts by the old name even the new name is listed.

If I change the Album Name, the Album Colum still sorts the song by the old name even though it shows the new changed name.
This happens for a song I bought from the iTunes Store. When I change the Album Name on songs read in from CDs, it sorts by
the Album Name which I edit.

Changing file or folder names by hand makes iTunes loose contact with the files. You shouldn't do this. If the files are stored inside the iTunes Media folder and you have the option "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" enabled then files with move around as you edit their tags. If they are stored elsewhere, or that option isn't selected, then if you want to rename the files you need to remove and then reimport, or manually reconnect each track one by one.
Select all of the tracks of the album, press Ctrl+I to Get Info, select the Sorting tab, delete the contents of any of the Sort fields, click OK. This should resolve the sorting issue.

  • Changing ipod album name display

On itunes on my computer I can personalize how information is displayed. . If I'm clicked on a folder, I can click "View" and then "View Options" and display or hide any info that I want.
But I don't see these kinds of options for my ipod. . Specifically, I would like to see the album name before I begin playing a song and bring up the song playing screen. . I only see the album name on the current song playing screen. . If I Menu back to check out what I want to listen to next, I can never see the album name. . I can only see the song name and artist name.
Can I change how my ipod displays the information that it has so that it displays the album name within the playlist BEFORE I select a song to play ?

If I Menu back to check out what I want to listen to next, I can never see the album name. . I can only see the song name and artist name.
It all depends how you got to the song playing.
Go to Music -> Albums and it will do what you want.

  • Why do I receive the exclamation point when I just change the album name? File goes missing?

I keep all of my itunes media on an attached network hard drive.  Had no problems for months but over the past 45 days I've noticed that material has started to go missing that I know I did not delete.  I have found no malware on my system.
I read a script to tell me all the files that had an exclamation point.  There were some TV shows (an entire season gone missing) and some CDs.
I just did a test and imported a CD.  I then clicked "get info" and changed the name of the album.  Immediately I received the exclamation point and when I tried to find the original file it is gone.  I have no idea where the file has gone to.  I've tried searching, looking around to find it, and I can't.
Why is itunes having this behavior?  How is the file being deleted?  Any other thoughts or ideas of what I should do to stop this?
I've also sent a support request to the hard drive mfg (lacie) but I'm not sure I'll get much help there.
    Thanks.

More info:  I just ran the same test two ways.  One, I had some files on my desktop, run a script to move these files to the "automatically add to itunes" folder, the files move just fine to my external hard drive and to itunes.  The file plays just fine and the "get info" tab shows it is playing the file from the external hard drive where the file was moved to (not copied).  But, as soon as I change the artist name or the album, the file goes missing and I get the exclamation point.
I ran the same test by putting the files on my desktop, but instead of moving the file to the "automatically add to itunes folder" I just double clicked the file to play it.  I let itunes add a copy and organize my folders.  This time, the file would have been copied (not physically moved) and I see itunes is playing the new copied version.  This time, when I try to change the artist name or album, I have no problems.
I've never encountered this before.  Any info?  Thanks.

  • Help Please On Changing Podcast Artist Name.

I am using iWeb and Garageband (from iLife '06) to make my podcast and it have submitted it and everything but when i go to the page on for the artist of the podcast it says Unkown, and i would like to make it to a certain name (my xbox live gamertag to be exact) and i can't figure out how to do this.
    Please Help

Thanks very much for your reply!! =)
Sorry for not making the question a bit clearer.
So, for every pair of rows (or a subset of all thepairs?), you need to extract which columns match on
    that pair
First of all, I need to look at each attribute once
at a time; the example in my 1st post was for field A
(subsequently I need to examine B, C, D one after
    another)
When looking at a field, again let's say A, I need to
elicit ALL pairs of rows which have DIFFERENT values
on A, i.e. t1.A <>t2.A, and then compare if both have
the same values on any other columns; if so, record
the column names. However I cannot specify 'AB' in
the SELECT clause, since there's no way to find out
their values coincide on 'AB' prior to computation.Unless I'm totally missing the point, yeah, there is. The where clause tells us that they will coincide on exactly AB.
You need separate queries for each combination--one query for 'A', one for 'AB', one for 'AC', etc.
If you don't want to do that, you'd have to grab each pair of rows, and then basically do a bunch of if tests (or generate a map or something) to see which fields match. I don't know if you can do that in SQL or not. I suppose you could in a stored proc, but I wouldn't know how.
In Java it's easy, but it requires either storing the entire table in memory or making many trips to the DB.

  • How do I change artwork and album name for a playlist?

I can't figure out how to do this:
I like to make cd-length playlists (essentially "mix cds") with songs that I own. I make new artwork for the mix cd, and for categorization, I like to change the Album Name and Album Artist to whatever I've named the mix (i.e., "songs about trains").
However, if I do this, the individual songs no longer appear with their original albums, since I've changed the info on them.
So essentially what I want to do is make a copy of the songs. I don't mind if they take up extra space on my hd. How do I do this easily?
I know I can just burn the cd and rip it, but then I have to rename every single song, which is a pain.
Is there an easier way? I imagine many other people like to make mix cds like me...
    Thanks.

The reason I need to change the file name is we want the breadcrumbing name to change and the breadcrumbing is linked to the file name.
I don't understand this reason. How would changing the file extension solve your breadcrumb issue? Why don't you explain the issue in more detail.

  • Artist name/album name changes made in itunes not showing up on my iphone4S

I added some songs to my iphone and I changed some of the songs' artist names in itunes. However, the changes that I made in itunes are not showing up on the iphone. Changes to album names are also not showing up. But album art does show up on my iphone. I've tried converting id3 tags and I've tried resetting the phone but nothing has worked. Does anybody know what is wrong and how to fix it?? Thanks.

    Haven't had the problem.
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • Sometimes album name will not change...

Sometimes when I am trying to change and album name (and I have say 10 albums) it will not change, remains "My Albums 6" ???

I tried that, and a couple other click here, click there... nothing? I had done about 5 successfully. Then would have to try over and over for the next few, and finally they changed too. Now I am still left with the last 2 albums... still saying, ablum#...:( I donno, gonna give up for now I guess.

  • How to edit music album names - too long to display in Ipod

How can I edit music/audio album names. I don't really care about music but I have a lot of audio files and they all have the same name, followed by "Disk 1," "Disk 2," etc.  The problem is that the "Disk 1" doesn't get displayed because there's not enough room on the Ipod display.  I would think I could edit this in Itunes but don't see how to do it.  I would like to1 shorten the title so the "Disk 1" can be displayed.  Hope that is clear.
    Thanks for any help.

You can edit album names in iTunes on your computer.
Select all of the songs in the album, Select Get Info from the File menu, edit the Album name in the Info tab of the Get Info window and select OK.
This will change the name of the album. Note that you must change the album name for all of the songs in the album or you will end up with two albums.

  • Same album name by different artists

    Hi Everyone,
Im having an issue that I have 3 x 'Greatest Hits' albums by 3 different artists. The problem is that on my 160gig Classic the menu shows each of the albums individually when scrolling through the 'artist' menu. However when scrolling through the 'album' menu the songs for all 3 'Greatest Hits' albums appear under 1 heading. They are not selected as being a compliation on either itunes or on the ipod directly. Is there any way to seperate them without changing the album names? Please Help!

  • How do I organize my itunes library so that album name only shows up once for multiple song?

When I view the songs in my itunes library, it appears that album names appear multiple times even though they are the same album. (that I may have added to my itunes library at different times).
For example: For U2 album War, there are multiple songs in my library which I downloaded or uploaded in my itunes album at different times. Now the album War under artist U2, appears multiple times. How do I organize and make songs that belong in the same album appear under the album once so when I choose the specific album, all the songs are available there so I can listen to it all or shuffle it within the album. I don't want single songs under the same album names. It is very irritating. Please help to organize my itunes library better, I have a large album and it would be much easier if the album names would appear once when I have multiple songs for that album. Thanks!

Each tune gets a file name - that is how iTunes works. iTunes is a data base manager.
In a PlayList a reference is created that will link to a specific tune.
You can take the tunes that you do not want listed under a particular album name and change the album name using 'Get Info' for that tune(s) from the iTunes window.

  • Change of Domain Name causes loss of podcasts - help please

    Hi all
For the past 16 months i've posted monthly podcasts on iTunes. Last month I changed the domain name of the website they were pinged from and (I assume because of this) my podcasts are no longer on iTunes.
What's the best way to get my podcasts back? Do I:
1 - contact iTunes as if this is a brand new podcast and then submit them all?
2 - get iTunes to recognise that they are the same podcasts without having to go through the process for new podcasts (and if so, what is the best way to do that?)
    3 - other?
thanks in advance for your help.

  • Album name change

    Hi,
Change I do in iTunes gets reflected to actual music file stored in PC ie if i set Artists as SSS for songs in iTunes then if I check properties of a song it has Artists set to SSS.
But if i do a change to a song which was already imported to iTunes its not getting reflected. For example if set Album name for a song it is not getting reflected in iTunes.
i have latest version of iTumes installed
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance
    cheers
    sri

    Yeah.
That's why it's easier to do either do all your tagging outside of iTunes before importing it, or try to do most of your tagging inside iTunes.
A lot of iTunes tags are "soft" or not really stored in the files themselves, but in the iTunes Library file ... all the Sort Tags are "soft" as I call them. The Video-Type tag is a "hard" tag, but iTunes doesn't use it for some odd reason, so if you say run a TV show through a audio filter to clean up some noise, then re-add it to iTunes, unless it's downloaded from the iTunes store or you used another program to change the file's Video-Type tag ... iTunes puts it in the Movie section (even if you already have in the TV show section) ...
I use Atomic Parsley for a lot of tagging, but I leave all my Sorts, Album Art, and a random tag editing for inside iTunes. It's just easier that way.

  • Itunes Genius changes album names

Having a strange issue...After changing albums/songs imported from cds to the album names on itunes, I update itunes match and genius. It then promptly reverts them to other names and removing the info I edited.  Anyone know why this is happening?

    Hi,
When you update metadata you do do not need to select update match or genius. The changes will work their way through naturally.
