Changing POP Port Numbers

My wife and I each has a verizon email account.
I recently got an email telling me to change port numbers for incoming and outgoing emails.  She did not.
That leads to two questions:
1.  Why hasn't she received the email?  Are only some verizon users affected now?  Is this being rolled out?
2.  If I don't change the port numbers, will I eventually be unable to get email?  If so, when is the cut off?
Thanks.
-RS

The settings have worked for all Verizon email users (not Yahoo, etc) for a while.  They are just trying to stage the number of users that make the change at a time because a large number of users have had trouble making the changes correctly.  It is suspected that they may make the change mandatory sometime in the future.

  • Server 2012 R2 Essentials Role: How to change the port numbers?

    Hi All,
I've installed Server 2012 R2 on a Hyper-V guest, and then installed the Essentials Role on it. I've setup the role, and can access the dashboard. However the client I have has only one static IP - and Exchange/IIS running on the Hyper-V host. So the normal
ports for Access Anywhere won't work. I'd like to have the Access Anywhere respond on a different port - say 9999 for example. Then I can configure port forwarding on the router to pass it through, and have it working correctly as an SBS replacement. I messed
around with the bindings in IIS, but that didn't really solve the problem. I thought that would be it - but I suppose it's possible the service isn't meant to run on another port?
Has anyone had any luck in changing Access Anywhere to respond on a different port?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Based on your description, I understand that you want to change the default port of Anywhere Access. Please
refer to following thread and check if can help you.

  • Port Numbers Clarification During Portal Installation

I have installed Portal 9.x. My infrastructure port is set at 7777 and my midtier port is set at 7779. This is how it was configured during the configuration stage.
Therefore shouldn't I be able to access Portal through the port 7777? Did I do any wrong thing when I installed?.
If I did then is there a way to change the port from 7779 to 7777 so that I can access it via 7777?
    Thanks.

There are instructions on Metalink for changing the port numbers but they are spread out and hard to find and pick the right ones. I have gotten 2 files that I use to change my port numbers. Here they are:
How to Change the Port used for Oracle 9iAS Portal 9.0.x
    1. Add the New port to Web Cache and map to the OHS (Apache)
    a. Login to Webcache as an admin user
    b. Select the Listening Ports link
    c. Click the Add button, and use these settings to create the additional port
    I. For Cache: <Select the webcache in use>
    II. IP Address: ANY
    III. Port Number: 80
    IV. Protocol: HTTP
    V. Wallet: <Leave null>
    d. Select the Site to Server Mapping link
    e. Select the radio button for the top entry (Priority 1) and click the button Insert Above
    f. Select the radio button for Enter Site Name, and enter the following
    I. Host Name: <Your ServerName directive from OHS (Apache)>
    II. Port Number: 80
    g. Check the box the HTTP entry located under the Select Application Web Servers Section
    h. Accept Remainder of Defaults and click the Submit button
    i. Click the Apply Changes button in the upper right of the screen
    2. Restart the WebCache Server
    3. Add a Partner Application to the Oracle 9iAS Single Signon for the new port using ptlasst script in SSOPARTNERCONFIG mode
(Passwords required may be lookup in OID using the note referenced below)
    /u01/ora9portal/assistants/opca/ptlasst.csh -i custom -mode SSOPARTNERCONFIG \
    -s <portalSchema> -sp <portalPassWord> -c <iasinfraServerName:1521:iasdb> \
    -sdad <portalDad> -o <ssoSchema> -odad <ssoDad> -host <apacheServerName> \

    -p_tns <tnsConnectStringtoInfraDB> -s_tns <tnsConnectStringtoInfraDB> \
    -iasname <iasMiddleTierInstanceName>
Here is an example on a Unix Server
    /u01/ora9portal/assistants/opca/ptlasst.csh -i custom -mode SSOPARTNERCONFIG \
    -s portal -sp W18Wqn49 -c www.oracle.com:1521:iasdb \

    4. Modify the httpd.conf file located in the 9iAS Middle tier home to use port 80
    a. Edit the httpd.conf file and change the Port directive to 80
    Port 80
    b. Do NOT modify the Listen directive in the file
    5. Restart the http server in the Middle Tier
The port has now been modified and the site may be accessed using Port 80.
    6. Login to Portal as an admin user, and reset the SSO Server Settings
    a. Login to Portal as portal
    b. Select the Builder link
    c. Select the Administer tab
    d. Select the Global Settings link
    e. Select the SSO/OID tab
    f. Under the SSO Server Settings section, modify the Query Path URL Prefix to use the correct sso port.
The SSO Server is usually running on Port 7777, but creating the partner application would also change this port to 80.
    g. Select the apply, and ok buttons
I use this for Running the script above:
Windows Script to Determine orasso Password in 9iAS Release 2 (9.0.2)
    1. Paste the following script in a file named showPassword.bat and copy it in
a directory. Please also ensure that ldapserach is there in PATH on your
    widnows machine.
    8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<

    :end
    8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<8<
Note that the "ldapsearch...orclpasswordattribute" commands should be put on
    one line.
    2. Edit the script and update with your own hostname and OID port
    OIDHOST=bldel18.in.oracle.com
    OIDPORT=4032
    3. Ensure that you have ldapsearch from the correct ORACLE_HOME in the PATH
    4. Check that OID is up and running before proceeding.
    5. Run the script, and enter the schema name as: orasso, and the password value
    is shown.
    For example:
(all ONE line...may be easier to copy/paste from Notepad)
    C:\> showPassword.bat oracle1 orasso
    OrclResourceName=ORASSO,orclReferenceName=iasdb.bldel18.in.oracle.com,cn=IAS Inf
    rastructure Databases,cn=IAS,cn=Products,cn=OracleContext
    orclpasswordattribute=Gbn3Fd24
The orasso password in this example is Gbn3Fd24.

  • How Can I Change the Ports for WebDAV file shares.

Title says it all. I have another piece of software using port 80 and 443, I'd like to create iOS shares using WebDAV but I can't find anywhere in the GUI to change the port numbers and I can't work out whether I need to do something involving Apache virtual hosts and if so which config files are relevant to the WebDAV server.
Someone must have done this by now, anyone know how its done???!!!!
    Thanks in advance.

OK, so I worked out which files to edit and I actually managed to change the Apache/WebDAV ports on a clean 10.8 Server.
By clean I mean I installed 10.8.0, updated to 10.8.3 via the combo updater, then installed the latest version of Server app and configured the services.
Having done that I was able to make the required changes and all is working well. I then replicated the process on my live server but it throws up an error when I try to start up the WebDAV sharing.
This thread outlines the same issue:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4199421?start=0&tstart=0
I am getting this exact problem, in that any manual change at all to the 0000_any_443_.conf file will cause WebDAV to fail to start. This is annoying because I need to change that file. Its also annoying because the problem isnt there on my 'clean' server.
I deleted the entire /Library/Server/ folder and the Server.app and reinstalled Server.app from the App Store, recreating the /Library/Server folder from scratch. This cleared out the apache config files which I tried to re-modify, but all the file sharing settings were retained. Does anyone think it would be worth deleting all the sharepoints? Any other ideas?

  • Change IMAP Port in Blackberry mail config

I hope someone can help me.  I'm configuring the email account from my University in my Blackberry Torch 9800. The common port for the IMAP protocol is always 995, unfortunatelly the port used un my university is 993. How can i Change the IMAP port configuration to access in my blackberry? The configuration assistant from the mail, does not give the option to configure de port and it gives an unnexcpected error, sinces it tries to get acces by 995 port.
    Best regards

    Hey jduguet,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
If the email is integrating under 995, that means it is integrating as POP3 SSL.  You are unable to change the port numbers in the BlackBerry Internet Service.
Also IMAP SSL is port 993.
Are you not receiving email when it is added via port 995?
I look forward to your reply.

  • How do I change a port in Mac OS X Mountain lion

Apparently Logmein  makes use of port 2002 in mac OS X  Mountain Lion. I need to use that for some new accounting software. How  do I change the part in Mountain Lion and how would I do an install of  Logmein on the computer to use another port or how, with Logmein  currently installed do I change from port 2002 to some other port. The major question is how do you change port assignments in OS x Mountain Lion?
    Thanks for you help.
    Tom in Dallas

There isn't a generic way to do what you want.  Not on Microsoft Windows.  Not on OS X.
The ICANN registry of port numbers exists so that these messes don't happen, or don't happen very often.  So that there are no port conflicts among various applications, and there are ways to request ephemeral (temporary) ports, and (for some applications) to find out which port(s) the application happens to have allocated and is using.  In this case, it appears that folks at LogMeIn and with the accounting software didn't avail themselves of the ICANN port database.  They're using the preferences mechanism as a work-around for that.
Have a look at ipfw and pfctl tools here (see man ipfw and man pfctl at the Terminal.app prompt), and see if you can figure out how you're going to map just one local application that's opening 2002 to some other port, without disturbing the other application that's mapping to that same port (and colliding).  This is the remapping mechanism and akin to what can happen at some firewalls, and not the requested control over the selected port.  It's not set up to remap local application conflicts.
The selected port is either a configuration option within the specific tool, or it's hard-coded within the tool.  There's no generic registry of applications and ports.  That's what the ICANN port registry is for.
The worst-bad-ugly approach is to dump out the executable code, reverse engineer it, and patch the preferred port right into the code; to change the code without using the original source code.  Or some tool-specific configuration file or preferences setting, as and if available.

  • Can't change my Port under preferences

    For some reason.
I have chosen my server for outgoing mail, but when I go to advanced to type in the appropriate Port #, the number that is there is shaded and I can't type there. I click the SSL checkbox on and off and the port number changes but incorrectly both times.
Is there a way I can control what port I wanna send my mail through?
    Thanks

You do not have to set up your mail again.
If you scroll down far enough in the screenshots it tells how to access
    the smtp server settings.
NOT on the advanced tab, but under the 'account information' tab.
On the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) pop-up menu (close to bottom )select Edit Server List.
Result: The SMTP Server Options window opens. This window should let you change
    the port smtp uses.
You are not trying to change the smtp port in the correct location if you are seeing the port number 143 was my point.

  • 2.5mm / Pop Port Adaptor for Car Kit?

I currently have a Nokia Car Charger / Hands-free that my work installed, it has a power connector and a 2.5mm connector. I use it with a Nokia 1100 but I have upgraded to a Nokia 6100, however since the 1100 uses a 2.5mm connector and the 6100 uses some kind of Pop Port, it doesn't connect. I'm not sure of the brand of car kit since my wife is using the car, all I can remember is the name begins with 'A' but that's not much help. Anyway, if someone could suggest an appropriate product to use, that would be very helpful.
    William.

The only car kit i can think of who supplies a cradle to fit the Nokia 1100 is THB Bury, if this is fitted into your car you will be able to replace the cradle, it simply clips off, expect to pay around £60. Let me know if you can see any names or part numbers.

  • Changing the port number in 10g Discoverer- Middle Tier & Infrasctructural

Earlier I had insalled 10g discoverer which incudes both Middle Tier & Infrastructural Tier with default port numbers.
Now i would like to change the default port numbers to other port numbers. This is because , i am got to do another discoverer installation with default port numers.
In this case i have one question. Is it required to change all the port numbers that exist in the file "portlist.ini" of both Middle Tier & Infrastructural Tier.
What change still i need to do in Oracle 11i application front.
    Thanks
    Naveen

I did troubleshooting to verify the group, but this just changed the port number back to the default in the listener.ora & tnsnames.ora.
So I did all the steps again to change the port number from the default to another - via lsnrctl status, i see that the new port number is being used, I can also log in to the database via Toad using the new port number, in v$parameter i see that the local_listener is registered on the new port number....only under the Fail Safe manager, the port number (under listener parameter) has not changed....it still shows the default port number. Anyone know how to change this???

  • How to view and change SMTP port number in new account setup in "Mail" 10.6

When I try to set up and test a new email account addressing an SMTP server that seems to e using a nn-standard port number, how on earth can I even look at the port number assigned by default to a new account in Apple Mail 10.6 setup ?
I might have to trial and error different port numbers but when Mail tries to test the connection to the SMTP server after I enter its address, it just spins and hangs up. I suspect the reason is a wrong port number. How do I change that outgoing port number in Apple Mail ??
There seems to be no obvious way the program will let U do it or even let you view the port it assigns in apparent error.

there is no way to change the smtp port during the original account creation. you can usually wait Mail out if it's spinning its wheels at this point. I've had to wait about 15-20 minutes a few times. eventually Mail lets you through even if it fails to connect to the smtp server. then, once the account is created you can edit the smtp server and try a few different ports and settings. that's done in system preferences->accounts. click on teh smtp server at the bottom and select 'edit smtp server list". then in the popup click "advanced".

  • Hard-coded endpoint port numbers in services-config.xml

Is it possible to remove hard-coded port numbers in
services-config.xml and replace them with variables? I'd like to
deploy the same Flex application War file (including
services-config.xml within it) to our Dev, UAT and then Production
environments, for which the endpoints and port numbers must vary.
Re-building the app for each environment isn't desirable.
    Has anyone else achieved this?

Maybe I can clarify what I mean. I'm assuming that basically
the same war file needs to be deployed twice to the same app
server, as in the original example, excluding changes to config
    files (e.g. editing xml=ok, recompiling jars/swf=not ok).
The problem arises because if you were to change the config
file to use another port, it wouldn't make a difference to the
client app, which has the port and destination compiled in. You
would need to compile the app twice, once with the first port, once
    with the second.
So my workaround is to compile (not deploy) with a config
file containing two sets of destination channels, then in your
deployed config files you remove one of the sets.
Assuming you want to deploy two instances of an app into a
single app server, there will 3 different configs, one used just to
compile, and one for each of the two deployed instances.
Config A (compilation config files, used only to compile the
flex application, not used during server start up) contains:
    my-rtmp1, my-rtmp2, my-destination1, my-destination2.
    Config B (server 1-debug) contains: my-rtmp1, my-destination1
    Config C (server 2-release) contains: my-rtmp2,
    my-destination2
So when you deploy two instances with Config B and Config C,
there is no port conflict. The Flex app then has some parameter set
in the wrapper (or the absence of said parameter could be the
indicator) to tell it whether to use my-rtmp1 or my-rtmp2.
I just tested this and it worked. The way I tested was to add
two buttons to a the Flex app, one which connects to
destination1and performs a fill, one which connections to
destination2 and performs the same operation. This Flex application
    was compiled with config A.
I start a server with config B, and the application starts
fine, and the first button gets the fill as expected. The second
button instantly crashes the entire browser with an illegal memory
access exception. The second set of dest/channels aren't listening,
since the server doesn't know anything about them in it's config
    file.
So on the bright side, that confirms to me that you can
compile an app with redundant channels and destinations, then
choose which destination/channel you want to use at runtime.
On the down side, being able to consistently cause a crash
like that usually isn't a good sign. I'll look again on Monday, and
raise a Flash bug if it's still present in the latest version.

  • WRT160Nv2-Problem with Single Port forward to multiple servers with same internal port numbers.

On my network I have 3 systems that I've set up as RDP hosts.  And need to get to all three of them externally.  So I'm trying to do the following single port forwarding.
    RDP 1   Forward 4000 to port 3389 for 192.168.1.11
    RDP 2   Forward 4001 to port 3389 for 192.168.1.12
    RDP 3   Forward 4002 to port 3389 for 192.168.1.14
When I hit "Save Changes" I get the error "Port range already exists".  So it's good that it won't let me overlap ports generally, but at the same time, I'm trying to send them to different IP address.  There should be no overlap in this case.  Please advise
I'm trying this on the WRT160Nv2 with firmware 2.0.02, which I had just bought this weekend.

    kevj,
Thanks for your suggestion.  I have now upgraded the firmware to 2.0.03 build 7.  But I am still seeing the error message
As I mentioned previously, I'm trying to single port forward to multiple machines in the following way:
    Machine 1:   Forward 4000 to port 3389 for 192.168.1.11
    Machine 2:   Forward 4001 to port 3389 for 192.168.1.12
    Machine 3:   Forward 4002 to port 3389 for 192.168.1.14
The error appears to be generated by the fact that 3389 is selected for multiple external port numbers, but the same internal port number.  The router I believe isn't taking into account that the similar internal port numbers aren't taking into account the different internal ip address I'm trying to send this to.
This would be a standard sort of practice for running a live HTTP server on one machine, and a new beta HTTP server behind the router on a secondary machine on the same internal port, but different external port numbers for test purposes from the outside.
    Please advise
    Thank you.

  • Change obiee ports manualy

    Hi all,
I'd like to modify the port number that used to allow online connections to the RPD.
I'm only allowed to use port numbers from 10400 to 10499.
Do you know how this port can be changed manually or do I need to reinstall the product.
    Thanks

    John,
I was able to come over this issue by changing the port range that is used for the different BI system components.
From Enterprise Manager go to Business Intelligence/ Oracle BI Instancecoreapplication then in the Scalability tab change the port range. The value of "Port range From" will be assigned to RPC_SERVICE_OR_PORT parameter in NQSConfig.ini which is also the listening port of the BI Server.
The Value you were referring to in Home >Servers >BIServer is not the BI server Listening port but the Weblogic Managed Server port on which OBIEE analytics is deployed and will be used for non SSL requests
Restart all the services then online connection to the server will be possible
    Cheers
