Changing Portal homepage

How do i create the main portal homepage with a login portlet on it. Actaully, I have created my custom homepage with a login portlet on it, but as soon as i login it does not take me to my default homepage(Set up in the User administration default homepage). I get back to the same portal login page showing me that i have logged on and provides me a logout option.

Customize the page as its owner, Edit Defaults on the Login portlet, set the On Success URL to <SCHEMA_NAME>.home, where <SCHEMA_NAME> is the name of the schema in which Portal is installed (default is PORTAL30).

Hello,
I am working on EP 2.0 SP6 and want to know whether I can customize the portal homepage. If yes, kindly let me know of any sample code/link for the same.
I want to change the look of the Portal homepage(page after user logs into Portal). I want the navigation bar (which appears on left side currently) to appear on top (like second level navigation), etc.
Also read help pages but was not able to find the required data.

I not really know, what you meen.
The most of the layout thinks you can change in systemadministration -> portal di. In the theme editor you have to choose a default and make a copy of this. Than you can change what ever you want. After this you will need a display rule, a portal desktop and perhaps a new framework page.
Some other things you can "customize", do this careful, it could be overwritten with updates! For example:
The number of items in the catalog tree you can change in ContentProvidedBySAP->Admin Interfaces -> Admin iView Templates->com.sap.portal.personalizedContentCatalogTree
Also you can change the text format for TreeNodes in display name, display id or both with iView Portal Content Catalog - Portal Content Studio.
The iview Top-Level Navigation can perhaps help you to change the number of levels in the top-level navigation. But I don't think, that you can put the left side navigation completly in the top.
Have a lot of fun with trying this.

How do i permanently change my homepage to what I want when I look in the troubleshooting tab and find a unchangeable flag called: browser.startup.homepage_override_url

I downloaded some apps from speedbit.com and told FF4.0.1 to not change my homepage, and it did anyways to speedbit. It also installed itself on the "override", so everytime i reset my home page to anything, when I next open FF it bumps back to the override page instead. In troubleshooting it is a toggle i can't edit.

Firefox '''does not''' come with a setting for a page that opens in a new Tab, the default installation always opens a blank page when you open a new Tab. Many extensions include a feature to open their choice of a webpage when you open a new tab, as does the Speed Dial extension which uses a "local page" internal to Firefox.
You need to figure out which extension has taken over that preference that Speed Dial needs to use. You didn't bother providing a Troubleshooting Information... listing as requested when you asked this question, but I can guess your problem is related wither a Yahoo extension or a Conduit / OurToolbar extension - as there is a plugin listed = Package Installer & Install Conduit.

Clarification:
I believe now you potentially lose all extensions, plug-ins when you use the new reset function, but you will let me know.
If that is the case, your find corrupt file method maybe better. However, I reviewed the two help articles and there appear to be more files than just the delete search.json file and a possible search.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder. I am confused. Then I have to find the folders. I think help articles mentioned how to find the profile containing the files, but not sure.

Bearshare was downloaded to our home computer. Now it has taken over my Firefox homepage and I can't get rid of it. I have tried changing the homepage via Tools, Options. Didnt work. Deleted the Bearshare app and cookies and web history. Still didnt work.

Tried resetting default setting via Firefox Safemode. Didnt work. Any suggestions.?
My situation is 2 home computers (Windows XP) sharing 1 modem, but have their own apps. Mozilla on the other computer is fine. Just this one which Bearshare was downloaded to.

You only get an alert stating "An attempt to change the homepage has been blocked" if you have security software or an extension that is protecting against such a change. Firefox doesn't do that by itself. If starting in [[Safe mode]] didn't help then that only leaves security software, so you need to look to see how you can allow a home page change.

I do not want to download another virus program.. I do not believe it is a virus. I am running the full version of Norton 360 and it is doing a daily scan. I have Windows 7, 64 bit OS.

Firefox won't let me change my homepage and theme. It starts over like new everytime I open it up.

Since with the new update on 6-8-10 my firefox starts up and opens 3 tabs. reg mozilla google page, the themes page, and a download helper add on main page. I change me homepage and change me theme but when I close firefox it never saves the theme and homepage and starts back with those three tabs open.

I downloaded a music software and then deleted it. It changed my homepage designation and I can't get it to change back to Firefox. I do know how to change this but it is not working. Can you help?

The music software is imesh and I have changed my homepage designation with Firefox, in my internet options for Windows. Every time I close the page, the homepage changes back to imesh search page. I have deleted imesh from my computer including going to windows explorer and deleting all imesh that I can find to no avail.

How can I connect to the portal homepage on a 9i Database

I successfully installed Oracle 9iAS on a MS Windows NT machine
and configured the Portal Server on an Oracle 9i Database on
another machine (Windows 2000).
But when I try to call the portal homepage (portal30.home), I
get the following error: "The preference path does not exist:
Oracle.Portal.Page (WWC-51000)".
I can successfully call the .../admin_/gateway.htm page and
connect over there to the database.
The shared_pool_size parameter is large enough (92274688).
I installed the portal server manually, without the GUI, because
the connection to the database during the installation was only
enabled as SYSDBA or SYSOPER.
How can I also get connected to portal homepage?

will it make any difference? (as opposed to the roku box, used for netflix, picking up it's signal wirelessly).
Probably not, since the AirPort Express is picking up its signal via wireless.
The same signal just appears at the Ethernet port. If anything, the signal at the Ethernet port will have a bit less bandwidth than the wireless signal since the Express must convert from wireless to Ethernet...and you always lose something in the conversion process.
Normally, you would use the Ethernet port if a device did not have wireless capability.

I have a new computer - it has windows 7 and I have your latest mozilla firefox running. about:home is the opening URL and I know this is not good. But when I looked for the tab to find Internet Options(like I had on my last computer) I can't find it anywhere! I used to use that to change my homepage - that got rid of the about:home before. So now, what should I do? Where is the Internet Options tab? I did try to use the control panel to switch my homepage, but it only switched my Internet Explorer browser homepage, even though it is not my default browser. Thank you.

Can't change my homepage and can't get rid of bing search bar.

I can't change my homepage. It changed to Bing when I downloaded something. There is also a bing search bar on the top of my page. I am furious. I don't want things deciding on their own what should be on my computer. Why is it so hard to find where to change the homepage or get rid of these toolbars? How can I do it? Your help page doesn't help at all. It leads me to nothing useful. This seems to have affected my computer's performance as well.

I get this message too. Every time I try to download an app I get a message saying there are 33 apps that can not be downloaded and to try again later. The app I am trying to download does download but I get 'ghost' icons of the others. It doesn't make any sense why the app store is telling me I can't download apps I have already downloaded previously.
This all started when I entered my ID wrong. The only way to get rid of the ghost icons is to tap them. Otherwise they stay there waiting for the download.
I can't get this error message to go away. It must be a new bug.

Having troubles with a firefox page and not allowing me to change my homepages

Everytime I open Firefox the tab "http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/9.0.1/whatsnew/" opens and I can't stop it. Even though it isn't set as a homepage. Also, I can't change my homepages. Firefox won't let me change my homepage from the default

I have recently formatted my computer (doing a full system wipe, not just a settings wipe) and now Firefox isn't behaving. If I change my Firefox homepage to another homepage (IE Google) it will save it until I close out all my Firefox windows, then it goes back to the default homepage. I have tried doing a full Firefox uninstall, and deleting my profile and it's not working. I set the files to 'read only' and changed my homepage, and it still went back to the default. I have even deleted the prefs to no avail. I'm positive it's not malware as I have just formatted my computer (It was doing the same thing for a while last time I formatted as well but it somehow fixed itself) I do have Adblock and Status-4-ever installed, but those have been in my PC since before I formatted last time and have never caused a problem. They're also on my other computer, and it works fine as well. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?
PS. Sorry if I'm in the wrong area. I'm a little bubblebrained today. =P

You are in the right area, this is the support forum.
You should not make the profile read only, that will cause problems, for instance you will not be able to change settings or add bookmarks.
Before you go any further try to make a copy of the current profile including the sub folders and files, and any accessible previous profile. (For instance are you using a disk image of the hdd prior to it being wiped, does that have the old profile on it) this suggestion is made because some of that information is likely to be useful, but is being put at risk of being deleted or overwritten.
Have a look at

A potential problem is that you may have tried to restore from a Windows backup, they do not always work, and may need another clean re-install, but note do NOT delete the profile it is the program files that may need deleting.
Try the following in this order, testing after each stage
# return the profile settings to their standard privileges
# use firefox in [[safe mode]]<br/> no need to make changes in the options dialogue window, just click on continue
# try a new profile
#* see [[Basic Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile]]_8-make-a-new-profile

I don't think I'm quite advanced enough yet to use the externalinterface class.
Is there a easier method to do this.
I thought that basically I would need to get js to send a flash var with a hex colour code in it and then flash would change the fill of an object to what ever hex code it recieved through this flash var.
