Changing preferences after deployment

Does anybody have experience with changing preferences after deployment using InstallShield Tuner? I am trying to change the Comments Repository on a large number of deployments that were deployed using an MST created with InstallShield Tuner.
In Office I'd use the Maintenance Wizard, but InstallShield Tuner does not appear to have that functionality.

I know the registry key resolution, but I think that is such an ungraceful thing.
It would be nice if Adobe would come out with some management products even if this does involve creating an msp file. It would fit nicely into the 'suite' thing.
Oh well.....

  • Adobe Reader resets preferences after deployment

    Greetings to the Forum.
    Please can anyone direct me to resolving this problems.
    My oirignal MSI of 9.5 was used to integrate the MSP updates into it resulting in a deployable 9.5.4 version.
    However the MSI created showed all my previous preference settings which was what was required, but after deployment, the I guess updates reset it.
    Is there a string command somewhere to stop these updates changing the previous settings.
    Kind regards,

    The Admin and Wizard guides tell you how to customize deployments: www.adobe.com/go/acrobatetk.
    Without knowing what your updates order is, seeing your cmd line, and having a list of what preferences have changed, it's not possible to troubleshoot your problem.
    Here is some info that may help:
    Read the docs above.
    Admins usually create an MST file with the Wizard that which contains customizations.
    The update order is 9.5 > 9.5.1 > 9.5.2 > 9.5.3 > 9.5.4.
    OOC security updates do not change settings.
    There is no master switch to disable preference updates and updating with an MSI in the workflow and no MSI means that your customizations may be lost.

    Ben

  • Unable to change preferences after Security Update 2006-007 10.3.9 ppc

    Problem: System Preferences are locked and cannot be unlocked. And Software Update, and Disk Utility would launch but not work following installation of the S.U. 2006-007 .
    Solution Steps: 1) Turn off airport card, 2) Connect using ethernet, 3) restart, 4) download S.U. 2006-007 and reinstall. 4) restart 5) disconnect ethernet and turn airport card on.
    I believe these steps will work. I did alot of other stuff before trying this and it seems to be working. If you really want to know all of what I tried then read on. Otherwise I would just try the above.
    The key seems to be that the airport card is turned off and you are connected to the internet via ethernet so you can download and install the file.
    THE LONG STORY:
    After using software update to install S.U. 2006-007
    I was restarting and it to me to a black BSD login screen. I was not sure of the user name and password it was asking for so I ended up restarting by holding in the power button.
    I reset the PRam and was able to get it to load but it listed the user at the top of the screen as UNKNOWN and would not let me see my alternate logins. I restarted again an this time it came up with my name.
    Fearing problems I went to the disk utilities to check the permissions. It opened the disk utilities and as it was gathering information it suddenly quit disk utilities without any warnings.
    I restarted in single user mode and used /sbin/fsck -fy twice and it found no problems and I restarted. It would still not let me do the disk utilities with the same results as above.
    I went into my system preferences and my user settings were marked as locked and would not unlock even though I was logged in as the admin user.
    I restarted and reset the power managment. Again I could not change the acounts preferences because it would not let me unlock them. My time was also messed up now and it would not let me unlock them.
    I tried changing the passwords using the install disk and that did not work.
    I also tried using disk utilities from the install disk. It checked the disk fine and found no problems but gave an error while trying to check the permissions.
    I restarted and tried to software update the latest itunes and it would not let me install.
    I am not sure why but I tried turning off my airport card and restarting. I was now able to change my preferences and do a disk utilities permissions repair {no problems found}.
    I turned my airport card back on and once again my preferences were locked and so I turned the card off and the preferences stayed locked. I restarted several times playing with this and it appears that every time the airport card is turned on it locks the preferences and must be restarted with it off to allow access.
    I tried logging in as a new user and had the same results.
    I finally turned off the card and connected via ethernet and it had no problems unless the airport card was turned on. I redownloaded the S.U. 2006-007 and reinstalled it and it appears to work fine.
    I was never connected wih the airport card and ethernet at the same time.
    Ibook G4-800   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    In the "never fails" category . . . went back onto the machine and signed on under a different account. Immediately got the the familiar Keychain dialog asking for permission for AirPort, responded yes, and the base station was suddenly visible to this account. Logged off, back in under the original account, got the same Keychain request (which had NEVER appeared before in 5 or 6 different logins) and was off and running again.

  • Decision Table values changes back after deploy.

    Hi All,
    I created Decision Table and filled it by some values.
    Then I built my Rules Composer project and deployed it.
    After that I changed some values in my Decision Table from RulesManager and uploaded their.
    Then I deployed my Rules Composer again.
    After that I looked in Decision Table from RulesManager again and saw that all values were changed back to their original values.
    Does anybody knows is this feature or bug?

    Hello SMatveev,
    The functionality is as follows:
    1. You selected the active version to open the project - made changes to the rules, uploaded this. This version though is the latest, it has not been activated. The rules project which will be open will still be the active version, that means the changes recently made will not be displayed.
    2. You selected the latest version to open the project - made changes to the rules, uploaded this. This version is the latest as well as the active version. The rules project which will be open will be the latest version, that means the changes recently made will be displayed.
    3. After the changes were made, you uploaded (even activated) the changes. The rules are changed in NWDS and uploaded, now the version of the rules as were in NWDS at the time of deployment will be the latest/active version of rules in the server.
    The behavior you saw is expected. (3rd point)
    The way to prevent this loss of modifications made to rules using rules manager, is to - first download the runtime version of rules from server using the option available in NWDS; make the required changes to this active version and upload this DC to server.

    Arti

  • How to change async to sync after deploying the process.? Thanks

    How to change async to sync after deploying the process.? Thanks

    you'd need to change the base wsdl, the generated one (_Name.wsdl) and the bpel.file .. and remove the generated classes .. (all in domains/you_domain/tmp/your_process dir)
    the wsdl needs to get the output msg to the input msg instead of a callback porttype, the same needs to be in the generated wsdl (don't forget to remove the callback role in plnk session).. and the bpel process needs to have a reply instead of the invoke ..
    this is what you would need to do .. BUT, maybe we can find a better solution for you, if you elaborate on the usecase..
    during design time this is easier :-)

  • How to change the Data sources after deploying the application ??

    Hi All,
    i want to know how to change the Data sources after deploying the application to the application server ???
    I'm using Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0)

    Can you access the Enrprise Manager website of the target Application Server from your location? If so, you can change the datasource in it. If not, yo can bundle the datasource definition in your archive and use that one instead of the one configured in the target OC4J container. Or this will just be the responsability of your customer: whenever you send a new WAR file, they have to modify the datasource if needed and deploy the application?

  • Changing env-entry after deployment

    Hi,
    I was wondering how I can change the value of an env-entry after deployment? Do I have to change the value in the ejb-jar.xml, redeploy the application, or is there a utility I can use?
    thanks
    Steve

    Okay gentlemen, I dug around and couldn't find anything on this concept of defining an env-entry after deployment using Sun Java System Application Server 8.1 - so I just came up with my own hack. Thought I'd share it in case others have the same question and can't find the answer.
    Just to restate the problem: In SJAS you can't seem to define an environment entry that you can just look up via JNDI (you can do this in Tomcat pretty easy though using the context.xml file and an env-entry like syntax) - the benefit of this being of course that you can easily define deployment-time variables which a system administrator can set based on his setup. There seems to be no way to do this is SJAS 8.1
    As a workaround, you can create your own custom JNDI resource which will expose the properties that you set in the Admin Console as a simple java.util.Map that you can use from your app.
    Here's the blow by blow:
    2. Create a JNDIProperties object that implements java.util.Map but does NOT implement java.io.Serializable:
    package helpers.jndi;
    import java.util.Collection;
    import java.util.Map;
    import java.util.Set;
    public final class JNDIProperties implements Map {
        private Map map;
        public JNDIProperties(Map aMap) { map = aMap; }
        public boolean containsKey(Object key) { return map.containsKey(key); }
        public void clear() { map.clear(); }
        public Object get(Object key) { return map.get(key); }
        public boolean containsValue(Object value) { return map.containsValue(value); }
        public Set entrySet() { return map.entrySet(); }
        public boolean isEmpty() { return map.isEmpty(); }
        public Set keySet() { return map.keySet(); }
        public Object put(Object key, Object value) { return map.put(key, value); }
        public void putAll(Map t) { map.putAll(t); }
        public Object remove(Object key) { return map.remove(key); }
        public int size() { return map.size(); }
        public Collection values() { return map.values(); }
    }2. Create an object that implements javax.naming.spi.ObjectFactory and returns an instance of JNDIProperties containing the properties defined in the container:
    package helpers.jndi;
    import java.util.Enumeration;
    import java.util.Hashtable;
    import java.util.Map;
    import javax.naming.Context;
    import javax.naming.Name;
    import javax.naming.RefAddr;
    import javax.naming.Reference;
    import javax.naming.spi.ObjectFactory;
    public class PropertyFactory implements ObjectFactory {
        public Object getObjectInstance(Object obj, Name name, Context nameCtx, Hashtable environment) throws Exception {
            Map myMap = new Hashtable();
            Reference myReference = (Reference)obj;
            Enumeration myEnumeration = myReference.getAll();
            while (myEnumeration.hasMoreElements()) {
                RefAddr myRefAddr = (RefAddr)myEnumeration.nextElement();
                myMap.put(myRefAddr.getType(), myRefAddr.getContent());
            JNDIProperties myJNDIProperties = new JNDIProperties(myMap);
            return myJNDIProperties;
    }3. Build this and copy the jar to $SJAS_HOME/domains/domain1/lib/ext/ (or other appropriate folder for your setup), then restart the app server to get to load the jar.
    4. Go to the admin console and go to Resources -> JNDI -> Custom Resources -> New. Give it a sensible JNDI name (I'll use "testproperties" in this example), enter java.util.Map as the resource type and the name of your factory class for the "factory class" field, e.g. "helpers.jndi.PropertyFactory". Below that under "Additional Properties", add in each of the properties that you want to expose, for example enter a property named "testproperty1" with the value of "my test".
    5. You can now get a java.util.Map that contains the properties that you set for your custom JNDI resource by doing something like the following (example in JSP):
    <%
    Context myContext = new InitialContext();
    Context myEnvContext = (Context)myContext.lookup("java:comp/env");
    Map myMap = (Map)myEnvContext.lookup("testproperties");
    %>
    <%=myMap.get("testproperty1")%>Output is:
    my testNOTE: If this sounds convoluted - I agree, it is. If anyone's got a better idea, please post it; as I could not find another solution to this seemingly simple problem.

  • Changing EndPoint URL after deploying the project

    Hi All,
    I have developed a BPEL process that invokes a Web-Service. the End-Point URL of that service changes from time to time. Now ,my requrement is that I don't want to change my BPEL code every time whenever the URL changes. Is there any cleaner way to change the end-point url and any other varaible after deploying the project.
    Basically I want to know if is this can be achieved without modifying the code manully.
    I am using Jdeveloper 11g and SOA suite 11g with weblogic 10.3.1
    Please suggect
    Thanks

    Hi
    Here I am creating dynamic partner link to call OSB service in my BPEL process. I wan make it dynamic to change run time server address and port numbers. Here I am getting Error (Error occurred reading inline schemas) while creating reference variable as per BPEL cook book. To resolve that exception, I have created /bpel/system/xmllib/ folders in SOA 11g and placed ws-addressing.xsd file. After I am trying to import in BPEL process, still I am getting same Exception.
    Even I tried to read ws-addressing.xsd file through IE browser (http://Host:Port/orabpel/xmllib/ws-addressing.xsd) after placing that directory(/bpel/system/xmllib/). My SOA server and everything is running.
    Thanks in advance.

    Halo,
    I have written excel macros and it is working fine.
    but if the same file if i try to open from hyperlink after deploying in Weblogic server , I get the error
    "error occured initializing the VBA libraries.
    If Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) was not installed, or was set to Install on first use,
    (advertised, or set to install on demand) you may receive this error message.
    Depending on the mode of installation used and the rights of the user to change current settings,
    it is possible to install VBA through Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Microsoft Office, Add or Remove
    features. If Visual Basic for Applications is not listed as an installable feature of Office, the administrator

    1. Even though Excel VBA application is installed in my machine , why am i getting this error.??
    2. I would like to know is there any way to open the excel file even though if the excel software is not installed in client machine??
    Appreciate your help.

    Hi,
    I do not see any reason for this to not work.
    Is there any difference between the preferences for RX and RXI. Please go to "edit" -> "Preferences" -> "Security(Enhanced)" and uncheck "Enable protected mode at startup".
    Are you able to open any pdf from command line with the same command:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe"  <<PDF_FILE>>
    Thanks,

  • Report Generation broken after deployment - Excel Set Cell Color and Border.vi

    Upon deployment, the Excel Set Cell Color and Border.vi became broken.  After installing LV2010 SP1 to view the VIs in the deployment, I noticed that in the second case structure where the code draws the border using the BorderAround invoke node, there is an extra variant input parameter named 'Parameters'.  Upon right-clicking, an option to 'Relink Invoke Node' appeared and after selecting this, the extra input disappeared and the VI was no longer broken.
    Why does "Relink Invoke Node" appear?  How do I create a deployment with this issue?  Has anybody else experienced this?  Why is the TestStand deployment so buggy?

    Hi Ching-Hwa,
    I have set up a test deployment here where I am deploying a workspace that contains a sequence file.  This sequence file has a LabVIEW Action Step calling a VI that opens a new Excel file and simply calls the Excel Set Cell Color and Border VI.  After deploying this, both the VI and my test sequence ran on the deployment machine without error.  Therefore, I do have some more questions to more accurately reproduce what you are seeing.
    First, what operating systems are you developing on and deploying to?  Also, what license do you have for TestStand on the machine you are deploying to?  If you have a development version, can you manually take the sequence file and VI to this machine and run it?  I know you now have LabVIEW 2010 SP1 on your development machine, but if you have the development version of TestStand as well, it would be interesting to see if you copy the files over if you still see this behavior.  Are you including the TestStand Engine in the deployment?
    Can you open a blank VI on the deployment machine and add the Excel Set Cell Color and Border VI?  It would also be interesting to see if this is not a product of the deployment, but rather an issue with something on the deployment machine itself.  What version of the Report Generation Toolkit do you have on each machine?  Also, what versions of Excel are you using on the development and deployment machine?  Again, it would be helpful for me to know exactly what versions you have installed on both the development and deployment machines so that I can reproduce this as accurately as possible.
    One last thing to try, too, would be to try deploying the VI by itself just to see if it also has the same behavior.  Do you have the Application Builder in LabVIEW?  If so, could you also try building an executable from the VI, create an installer, and deploy this to the deployment machine?
    In regards to the "freezing" of code by removing the block diagrams, I do not believe this will be a proper work around in this case.  While this removes the block diagram from actually being deployed along with the VI and restricts users from editing the code on the deployment machine, if something is getting changed in the compiled code upon deployment, this will not stop this from happening.  This option is available more as a memory option to lower the size of the deployment as well as prohibit any users on the development machine from editing the block diagram themselves.
    Thanks, Ching-Hwa!  I look forward to your response so that I can continue trying to reproduce this issue.  Have a great day!

    Is it have to do with the Deployment profile ? or any Data Control Issue ?

    Thanks Guys,
    You won't believe if I say the issue because of a minute error.
    for some reason the AMImpl.xml and its class files were getting created in different directory where as the DataControl was referencing the different directory, when I changed the proper directory for classes files to generate things started to work fine.
    As long as the creating the deployment profile, I think I did right. So all is fine at my end.. thanks for your links, it was really helpful though.
    Thanks

  • Best practice for customizing EJB property after deployment

    Hi Gurus,
      What is the best practice for customizing EJB property after deployment in NW7.1? I have a stateless session bean and it needs to get some environment information before acting. While the information can only be known at runtime. What should I do to achieve it? I thought I can bind the property with a JNDI context but I did not find out where to declare and change the context value. Please advise. Thanks.
    B.R.

    Hi.
    I have a similar problem. But I still can not edit the properties of the ejb-jar.xml.
    I tried to stop the web service, but the properties still remain unmodifiable.
    Could you advise me how to change them?
    We have installed SAP Server 7.0.2

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Yes you are correct, i compiled using jdk1.5.
    but my servlet code will not compile in jdk1.4 version since i used advanced vaector classes in that.
    Is there any settings like script file that need to be changed so that i can point to my jdk1.5 compiler rather than the default one pointed by weblogic.
    Thanks in advance
    Ram
