Changing Preferred credentials on Solaris

I have GC 10.2.0.2 on a Solaris-64 box, monitoring databases on a 2-node Solaris-64 cluster (running Enterprise End 10.2.0.3).
I have a number of jobs that run scripts on the RAC from Grid Control.
I changed the UNIX password for the oracle account, and then changed the GC preferred credentials for each node in the cluster, clicked on the test button, and all looked OK.
But when my jobs run, they fail to connect to the RAC (invalid username/password).
When I changed the UNIX password back, they ran OK.
I've also tried deleting and re-creating the jobs, but still get the problem.
I can't figure out where it gets the old password from, or what else I need to change to get the new password accepted
In all cases I am using Preferred Credentials..
Any advice would be gratefully received!.
Bob

I restarted the agents on both RAC nodes, but no luck I'm afraid. Same problem.

  • 11g OEM GC - Preferred Credentials

    Hi all,
Having some problems with setting preferred credentials for an 11g database on 11g grid control. Both systems are Oracle Linux 5.6 one is x64 and the x86.
It excepts SYSTEM but not SYS and not the ORACLE user.
I have tested ssh from the OEM server to the DB server in question as the ORACLE user.
I have been able to connect via TNS from the OEM box to the DB box as SYSTEM but SYS does not work and errors as insufficient privileges.
I have started an SR with Oracle but yet to hear from them. Just wondered if anyone in the community has had problems.
    Thanks to all!

I'm afraid I have been through this and it actually make the problem worse. When I enable a password file, which I did not have in place, it completely locks out the sys user.
I am yet to hear back from the SR I started. I will let you know what the outcome is from this.

    I agree with Frank.
First connect to the database from the database as user SYS, using:
sqlplus / as sysdbaThen using another shell, create a password file for the database.
Make sure you use the same password for this password file as the SYS user has, or change the password of SYS afterwards.

  • How to change Preferred Vendor to Fixed Vendor in SC - SRM-5.0

    SRM Experts,
We are using SRM 5.0, ECC 6.0 and PI-7.0.
We are using classic scenario in SRM. When user selects the vendor with Outline agreement in SOS tab then SC creates PO in backend system because it has Fixed Vendor otherwise SC creates PR in the backend system.
We have a new requirement in SRM to create PO instead of PR in the backend system if Purchasing Org=5xxx and total value of SC is less than USD 5XXX and Vendor is a Preferred Vendor in the SC.
Do I need to use the Check Document BADI to check the total value of the SC and to check whether it is a Preferred Vendor and then in the Change Document BADI, change the value from Preferred Vendor to the Fixed Vendor before SC is saved?
OR someone has any other suggestions on this?
Which BADI is called first Check Document or Change Document before saving the SC?
    Thanks in advance!
    MP

    Hi Atul/Disha,
I sent you my code and problem in detail at your email address.
Here is the requirement for Changing Preferred Vendor to Fixed Vendor. We are on SRM 5.0 and using classic scenario. I am new to SRM world. I also checked the note- 962474 in our system and it has been applied. We upgraded to SRM 5.0 in Oct-07.
    1.     My client has customization for sources of supply tab. It shows the vendor information in SOS tab based Product category, Plant and Purchasing group selected in the SC. If SC contains Vendor with Outline agreement then SC creates PO in the backend system. So in Change BADI logic for new enhancement of converting Preferred vendor into Fixed Vendor should not change anything in the SC using Outline agreement.
    2.     We have created Custom table-zsrm_fix_vend with fields, purchasing group, company code, currency and total value.
    3.     We need to convert the preferred vendor into fixed vendor
if the SC’s 1st line item purchasing group = zsrm_fix_vend-ekorg and
                 SC’s 1st line item company code = zsrm_fix_vend-bukrs     and
               SC’s currency = zsrm_fix_vend-currency                   and
               SC’s Total value less than(<)zsrm_fix_vend-totalvalue.
    My testing results and problems…
    1.     When I create a new SC with less value than totalValue from the custom table, change document BADI is changing the preferred vendor into fixed vendor and it is creating PO in the backend system. So this is working as expected.
    2.     When I create a new SC with greater value than totalValue from the custom table, change document BADI is NOT changing the preferred vendor into fixed vendor and it is creating PR in the backend system. So this is working as expected.
    3.     When I use Outline agreement in the SC, it is creating PO in the backend so change BADI logic is not affecting this existing functionality which is good.
    4.     Problem - When I copy a new SC from existing SC with less value than totalValue from the custom table and then changing the amount with the greater value than the custom table, change document BADI is not changing the fixed vendor to the preferred vendor and when I click on sources of supply tab - it is giving me an error “Partner Function may not be Changed” and it exits me to main shopping cart screen.
    5.     Problem - When I copy a new SC from existing SC with greater value than totalValue from the custom table and then changing the amount with the lessser value than the custom table, change document BADI is not changing the preferred vendor to the fixed vendor and when I click on sources of supply tab - it is giving me an error “Partner Function may not be Changed” and it exits me to main shopping cart screen.
    6.     When I copy the SC with Outline Agreement and change the amount it works all the time it is not affected by the change document BADI which is good.
Please help me to resolve this issue.
    Millions thanks to you!

  • Preferred Credentials, Vista Ultimate, Oracle 10.2.0.3

I do have an Oracle Db Rel 11.1 running on Notebook with Vista Ultimate (ok ok i know ;-)
    Everything is working without problems
Now i installed Oracle 10.2.0.3 for Vista in a different home on the same notebook - Installation finished without errors - dbconsole running and i can enter Oracle Enterprise manager but
when i try to set preferred credentials for this db to log on to the host i always get the answer that the connect to system failed using the given credentials - the account i use for connect to host is the same as i use in my 11.1 db. account and password are correct. And after this failed check i recieve a message from Microsoft system the Oracle Enterprise executable has been stopped due an error.
Same problem i do have when i try to create a job and give host account.
the used host account does have the right *log on as batch job
    Any Ideas?? Thanks

  • Changing IP address in Solaris 10 different from Sol 9?

I recently needed to change the IP address of 2 new Solaris 10 Sparc boxes. I made the normal changes
    /etc/hosts
    /etc/hostname.bge0
    /etc/resolv.conf
    /etc/netmasks
    /etc/nodename &
    /etc/defaultrouter
(why can't we get these into one file?)
But when rebooted, the server still remembered its old IP address and settings even though I couldn't grep that IP anywhere. I eventually had to do a sys-unconfig which I was hoping to avoid. Is there some other way to change an IP in solaris 10?

Here's the step that I use whenever I'm stuck and it usually works. As I'm still learning now, these may be easy steps and you may have been already done these.
    "Static to DHCP IP Address"
    First unplumb
    # ifconfig e1000g0 unplumb
Then Plumb (probably IP will become like 0.0.0.0)
    # ifconfig e1000g0 plumb
    Use dhcp
    # ifconfig e1000g0 dhcp primary
    Check on IP address
Should have an IP address from your dhcp server by now.
    # ifconfig -a
    and
    # ifconfig e1000g0 dhcp status
    "Configure DNS client"
    Edit "nsswitch.conf" file
    go to /etc
    # more /etc/nsswitch.conf
    # vi /etc/nsswitch.conf
    and add "dns" on hosts
    hosts: files dns
go to /etc and see if the file is already there or not
    # more /etc/resolv.conf
If it's not created yet, then create one.
    # vi /etc/resolv.conf
    domain domain.com
    nameserver 0.0.0.1
    search domain.com
Then ping should work with both ip address and domain name.
    For Manual IP
    First unplumb
    # ifconfig e1000g0 unplumb
Then assign an IP and make sure that you are using the right IP address if you are in the network.
    #ifconfig e1000g0 plumb 192.168.100.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
    Check if it's updated
    #ifconfig -a
If you still can't get the right ip address, then something is up. Oh, make sure that your Ethernet cable is connected or not defective. It happened to me once.
    Hope this would help someone.

  • Host preferred credentials suddenly not working

    Windows 11GR2 on Windows 2008 64 bit
For some reason I am getting failures in dbconsole, I double check all my host credentials etc., part of dba groups, part of log on as a batch job etc. are all ok.
    Everything was working fine.
Now I try to clone this database (or do anything involving jobs) to a test database on same server and I get errors. I go to database preferred credentials and enter in domain\username / password and get errors, one will say "Connection to servername.domain as user domain\user failed. Next time I will get an error saying internal error check logfile - WHICH LOGFILE?
Everything was working fine until recently, then just stopped. Oracles solution is to drop and recreate entire repository, but I can't take the downtime to put database in quiesce mode.
<rant>Oracle, do us a favor, +please put fully functional 9i version of OEM back as an option!+ There is nothing I dislike more that spending HOURS AND HOURS trying to debug a bloody TOOL that's supposed to make "database administration" so easy! I spend far more time working on this piece of crap user interface than I do on the database.. </end rant>
    I feel better (almost)

Looked at the various log and trc files, nothing that I can see helps me. Also, in my OP I forgot to mention that in the services screen it shows neither databases dbconsole service as running, yet I can open dbconsole for either of them, and everything works except submitting jobs.
emca status dbconsole command show this:

  • Unable to set Host Preferred Credentials in OEM

    Hi Experts,
I installed Oracle 10g R2 on on windows machine (XP Professional SP2).
Everything is OK except I can't set Host Preferred Credentials.
I logged in Windows using Windows Domain account, connected EM DB console as sysdba.
I used domain user name to set Host Credentials and get the error:
Connection to "mysystemname" as user xxxx failed: ERROR: Wrong password for user
I also added the user to "Log on as a batch job" under Local policies.
Then I set oracle as Host Credential, still get the same error.
Please help me how should I set the Host Credentials for Oracle 10g on Windows?
    Thanks in advance

The keyword here is domain user, so not local user.
Normally Oracle runs using a local account, and you need that local account to connect.
You can try to make sure the domain account is a member of the local ora_dba group.
If that doesn't work, you probably need to start the Oracle service using a domain administrator account.

  • Prefered Credentials error in OEM

The "Logon as a batch job" as been set against USERX who is also part of
the ORA_DBA group. Also, USERX was the one who performed the installation
of Oracle 9iR2. When I set my "Prefered Credentials" I am using a specific
unique one for a individual DB. My values are as folows:
    username: USERX
    password: PASSWORD
    confirm password: PASSWORD
role: SYSDBA (I even tried NORMAL).
When I save these settings and I try and run basically any data management
for backup management, I always get the following error:
"The wizard can not be launched because the prefered credentials for node ABC are either not set or invalid. "
    What's going on?!?!?!?

    Raman,
In the OEM you can have databases and nodes. The databases credentials expect the username/password created in database - the one you would've used when you log in using sqlplus. the node credentials require the os username/password - the one you would've used when you log into your server.
    Check figure 1.15 at
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/html/A96670_01/ch_conso.htm#7136
I suspect the "userx" is the OS account. You should enter username/password for the target_name "ABC", target type - "Node"
The database username/password/role you should enter for the target_name "Your database name" , target type - "Database"

  • Changing casuser password on solaris

    Dear *,
I have intalled LMS 3.2 or solaris 10. The installation is successfull. Now i want to change the password of casuser but i am unable to find the resetCasuser. Seems like file is missing. Any idea why? NMSROOT\setup\support\resetCasuser
Is there anyway i can get this file from somewhere and copy it in solaris? Since this is a solaris account what willl happen if i change the password from solaris itself?
    Thanks,
    Aamir

    Hi Aamir:
There is no facility or program to change the password of casuser because one cannot log into the box as casuser;  that account has no shell.
    grep casuser /etc/passwd
    casuser:x:101:100:CiscoUser:/opt/CSCOpx:/dev/null
Even if you change the Solaris user password, that account still can't be logged into.

  • OMS Preferred Credentials

    Hi
I made a new management server and repository (9.2.0.4 + patchset 9.2.0.8) installation on a SLES9 (32Bit) sytem, and all is working well
The only problem is, that i cannot store the preferred credentials to the system with Enterprise Manager Console. I can enter the login-data to the form and when i try store the settings they get lost - they never get stored to the database.
There is no error message or something else ... notification settings and other administrator preferences are ok, but not the preferred credentials.
What can i do to fix this ?
I don't find any hints to solve the problem in the docs or in internet...
    best regards, andi

You should be able to store the preferred credentials. You have specified at the beginning of your thread you are using a unix like platform, and you should be able to store them either on windows or on unix like environments. You only have to declare them at the preferred credential section.
Could you please post the specific error text displayed when you attempt to store the credentials?

I have installed the Active Directory Plugin 2.0.2.1.0 in my Grid Control (10) and I am getting the following error:

I set the preferred credentials for the agent. They are a user/password for someone that has "installation" and "admistration" privileges on the Active Directory server.
Is there a specific format the userid and password should be entered? (i.e. cn=xxxx)

If entering username only is having an error, enter the username as DOMAIN_NAME\username. Where domain_name is the domain of the AD host

  • 10g host preferred credentials, wrong password

I'm getting an error message trying to set the host preferred credentials in Enterprise Manager 10g:
"Connection to host hostname.changedthis.com as user landersd failed: ERROR: Wrong password for user"
I've triple-checked the password, and tried several variations on the username, but I can't seem to get it to work. When I look at a connected session (osuser in V$SESSION), the username comes up as IPS\landersd, but that username doesn't work either. Is there a way to specify the username that I'm not doing correctly? I also checked the privileges and the user has 'logon as batch job' privileges, and is part of the ORA_DBA group. What am I missing?

    Windows only, I assume.
The format of the data to be entered in the Username fields on the Credentials pages is "Domain\Username". This setting is only accepted when the user has the "Log on as a batch job" right assigned.
Select the "Administrative Tools" control panel. Then "Local Security Policy". Expand "Local Policies", select "User Rights Assignment". Finally add the User to "Logon as a Batch Job" local security setting.
With thanks to Rachel from Oracle Support.
