Changing Preferred Language

How can I change the preferred language of my online account?
By mistake, my "region" upon sign up was set to Japan (my employer did this, since I live in Japan), but I am American & don't speak Japanese.
Based on a few Google searches, it seems like I have to delete my account & sign up again in order to change the region.
I'm hoping that's outdated information. But if that's indeed the only remedy, how inconvenient for everyone involved!

You can not change your country region by yourself.

  • Changing Preferred Language leaves Mail.app's FLAGS menu showing the last non-English language

After changing the System's Preferred Language to FRANCAIS, then back again to BRITISH ENGLISH, I've found that the FLAGS menu of MAIL.APP will not change back to ENGLISH.
    e.g.
    - I change the Preferred Language setting to FRANCAIS,
    - I restart Mail.app.
    - I change the Preferred Language setting to BRITISH ENGLISH
    - I restart Mail.app.
The Flags menu is still in FRANCAIS. Every other menu is using the correct language
    - I then change the Preferred Language to ESPANOL
    - I restart Mail.app
    - I change the Preferred Language setting to BRITISH ENGLISH
The Flags Menu is now in ESPANOL.
It seems I can change the FLAGS menu to anything other than ENGLISH or BRITISH ENGLISH.
Rebooting between changes and/or leaving Mail.app open or closed seems to make no difference.
It's quite annoying as I make extensive use of keyboard shortcuts to flag emails....!
    Any clues?

I should point out that every other menu is changing correctly to reflect the Preferred Language. It is just the FLAGS menu that is not changing to english.

  • Changing preferred font types for each language separately in Safari

Hi, I'm wondering in Safari->Preference->Appearance, you can change the default fonts for your main language, which is most likely English.
However, if I want to change font types for each specific language, e.g. Japanese or Traditional Chinese, how could I do that? I assume that if I change in the Appearance menu, it's global to all languages (e.g. English)?
Just to illustrate my question, in Firefox, I can go to Firefox->Preference->Content-> Fonts&Colors->Advanced, then I can change the font types for each language separately.
How do I do similar things in Safari in Leopard? Thanks.

But it seems very weird that for all the beautiful font types in Mac OS, the users are only stuck with the default font type only?
Perhaps, but it's just an example of how different browsers and apps offer different features. You should use the browser that works best for you. While FireFox may be good for that feature, it can't display some languages, like Hindi, correctly at all.
It is possible to change the font using a custom style sheet, which you can select via the advanced item in Safari preferences, but I don't think there is any way to do this on the basis of language.
What language are you specifically interested in changing the default font for? If you are getting the wrong kind of font for CJK (for example, seeing Japanese character types instead of the Chinese ones in Chinese text), this might be fixable by changing the language order in system prefs/international/languages.

  • 8.0.1 changed the language of all songs and playlists

I just updated iTunes and now all of my playlist names and my song names are changed into another language's lettering. It appears to be an Mid-Eastern Language like Hebrew but I'm unfamiliar with it. The titles are corrected when highlighted. I checked international settings and English is still my preferred language. No problems with my iPhone's song list or language setting though.

Bogus Hebrew in iTunes is normally caused by having a copy of the Lucida Grande.ttf font on your machine, probably in Library/Fonts or Home/Library/Fonts. Get rid of it. *DO NOT* delete Lucida Grande.dfont in System/Library/Fonts, as this is essential.

  • How to change ipad language back to english from Greek?

How to change ipad language back to english from Greek?
It changed to Greek after the upgrade of Itunes and IOS, but I want it in English!!!

Yes that might be hard to do if you do not read any Greek!
Everything should be in the same place and the icons are the same. Here is a screenshot for where the setting is in English.
    Open the Settings app;
    In Settings choose General and then scroll to the bottom and choose International;
Then choose Language and pick your preferred English.
    Good luck.

  • Question on preferred language errors in logfile

    Hi,
running ICS 5.1.1 plain on Solaris 9. In the http.log file I see hundreds if not thousands of warnings/errors like:
[21/Dec/2004:10:01:16 +0100] <nodename> cshttpd[29477]: General Notice: User <username>: Preferred language (nl) can not be found. Use English instead.
Is this 'Preferred language' setting derived from the user's LDAP entry attribute 'preferredLanguage: nl'?
And if so, what can I do to prevent this error from showing up? AFAIK the 'preferredLanguage' setting is shared between various applications like the webmail interface and possibly other site-specific applications. So just changing the preferredlanguage value seems to be not an option.

  • How can I change the language of my CC account?

Is there a way to change the language of my Creative Cloud?
I'm not talking about the app installer or any Creative Cloud application, I'm talking about the account itself.
I live in the Netherlands, but I don't speak or read Dutch. When I login to CC site, everything is in Dutch, every mail I get is in Dutch... is there a way to change my preferred language to English and not have to Google Translate everything?
    Thanks.

Yeah, there is that button but that's still just a setting to my browser, not my Adobe ID. I had the site in "United States" but when I clicked to "My Adobe ID" everything was kindly changed back to Dutch.
Maybe it's easier to just learn Dutch..

  • HT3155 How can I change the language for Finder to British English?

Hi, I've been using a mac for almost all my life but recently something has been really bothering me on my new macbook air.
The finder window has a category called 'favorites' which to a native of the UK is incredibly annoying.
This has been a slight issue before.. the last version of pages used US English as its preference but you could get round it and it has since been corrected in the the new version. Finder is a completely different story. British English is down as my preferred language in System Preferences..so how can I change Favorites to Favourites?!

The 33 languages which the Finder (and all menus and dialogues) can appear in are listed in the tech specs:
    https://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
"English" on that list  meana US English.  Apple has not so far offered a British English localization, but you can ask for one via
    http://www.apple.com/feedback
Putting British English at the top of the list should make that the default spell check language, but will not change the menus and dialogues, except in an app where that has been especially provided for.  I think iTunes may do it.

  • How to change the language of the displayed exceptions in JDeveloper

    Hello all,
I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 and wish to see all exception messages in English instead of Greek. Almost always my browser messes code-page information and I end up seeing "?"'s instead of text.
    Thanks in advance
    Thanassis

    Hi Thanassis,
    you can:
    1) Change your browser settings to the desired language
    1.1) in Firefox:
. select menu Tools -> Options...
    . select "Advanced"
    . click "Choose" under "Languages"
. Select the language to add
    . click OK twice
    1.2) in Internet Explorer:
. select menu Tools -> Internet Options...
    . click button "Languages"
    . click button "Add..."
. Select the language to add
    . click OK twice
    2) Set the following options in your Project properties, f.ex.:
    -Djbo.default.language=fr -Djbo.default.country=BE. Double-click your project
. in the Project Properties, select "Run/Debug"
. select a Configuration and click "Edit..."
    . add the Java Options
    . click OK twice
(however, the default is en/US, so that should be OK in your case)
    NB:
. I think option 2 takes precedence on option 1
but I'm not sure of what happens when the jbo.default... properties are not defined and the browser is set up to use another language than English.
. you can also change the locale dynamically.
See "Change Preferred UI Locale with a Button in the Page" in Steve Muench's sample page (http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2004/09/23/notYetDocumentedAdfSampleApplications.html#95)
    Regards,
    Didier.

  • How can event reminders be delivered in a user's preferred language?

Can the event reminder function of iPlanet Calendar Server(iCS) 2.1 P1 be
configured to send reminders in a user's preferred language if the language is
not English (e.g., French, Italian, or German)?
    <P>
In iCS 2.1 P1, there is a server parameter in the server.conf
    file called
    caldb.smtpmsgfmtdir for
configuring the email notification tag lines. Setting the
    caldb.smtpmsgfmtdir
parameter indicates which locale iCS will use for email messages. The default
    value is "en," or English.
    <P>
Unlike the user interface, iCS 2.1 does not automatically attempt to change
the locale on a per-user basis. A future release of iCS will address this
issue of automatically changing the locale on a per-user basis.

    Hi,
All you need to do is to create the condition in the discoverer instead of in the query.
Create a custom folder containing the following sq (note that i removed the condition)l:
    SELECT s.segment1 vendor_number
    ,s.vendor_name
    ,flv1.meaning classification
    ,pca.certificate_number
    ,pca.certifying_agency
    ,pca.expiration_date
    ,flv2.meaning status
    FROM ap_suppliers s
    ,pos_bus_class_attr pca
    ,fnd_lookup_values flv1
    ,fnd_lookup_values flv2
    WHERE pca.vendor_id = s.vendor_id
    AND flv1.lookup_code = pca.lookup_code
    AND flv1.lookup_type = pca.lookup_type
    AND flv2.lookup_code = pca.class_status
    AND flv2.lookup_type = 'POS_BUS_CLASS_STATUSES'
Then create a discoverer report using this folder using all fields.
Create a new calculation as (use this exact syntax):
    Sysdate + :No_of_Days_in_the_Future
    Create a new condition:
    pca.expiration_date <= <your calculation>
To complete it add a sort as you did in the SQL.
    That's it.

  • Change of language in Firefox does not work. I have images of it.

I cannot change language to Spanish as some time I had. Why?
Menu bar is: File Edit View History... but when in Spanish: Archivo Editar Ver Historial.
And so on with other menus and tools.
    I have images of both.

I've tried the second one several times and it didn't work.
    * To change the list of preferred languages that you send to websites, see
** [[Settings for fonts, languages, and pop-ups]]
In what way didn't that work? That list of preferred languages only has an effect on sites that display pages in a particular language based on the ''Accept-Language'' header. Examples include Mozilla and Bing.
    * https://www.mozilla.org
    * https://www.bing.com
Even such sites have only translated their pages in a limited set of languages. For example, if you put ''Zulu [zu]'' at the top of your list of languages, you're not going to find many multilingual sites where that preference has an effect.

Thanks for your help. First answer worked very well.

  • Firefox is in German, how can I change the language into Japanese?

I remember I installed it in Japanese, but recently I have downloaded some program which is to be updated following warnings informed by UpdatStar Gmbh, suddenly the language has changed into German. And all of guidance to daownload other programs are in German. So that I can do nothing....because I cannot understand any of German.
I am Japanese, so that Japanese is most convieniet for me, but I can undestand English, so change German into English is acceptable.

If you have the Firefox user interface (menu bar) in the wrong language or want to change the current language then you can get Firefox in the language of your choice here:
    * http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
Uninstall the current Firefox version, but make sure that you do not remove your personal data.<br />
Install the new Firefox version of the wanted language.
You may need to (re)set the pref "general.useragent.locale" to the preferred language (e.g. "en-US" or "en-GB" or "ja") on the about:config page.<br />
You can open the about:config page via the location bar, like you open a web site.<br />
Use the Filter bar at the top of that page to quickly locate the pref.

  • How can I change Firefox language without having to download it again?

    Hi,
I'd like to know how I can change firefox language, without having to download and re-install it again. I read there is a way to do it, but I just can't find the language file I have to download. (I have firefox in french, and i want to set it in spanish)
    thanks for your answers

You need an English language version and there is no en-US language pack in Firefox 3.6. If you do not want the download the en-US version then you can install the en-GB language and switch to that version and remove the Spanish es-ES language pack from the chrome folder in the Firefox program folder.
You can find all language pack here:
    http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.11/win32/xpi/.
You can install language pack just like extensions.<br />
You can set the pref "general.useragent.locale" to the preferred language ("en-GB") on the about:config page.<br />
You can open the about:config page via the location bar, like you open a web site.<br />
Use the Filter bar at the top of that page to quickly locate the pref.
    See also http://kb.mozillazine.org/Language_packs
If you need the en-US dictionary then look here:<br />
