I bought my wife a new laptop and inhereited her iMac (intel Chip). How do I change who the computer setup identifies as the owner and primary user of the computer now?

I am wondering a similar question. In a nutshell, I got our system up and running, and when I did, I was the "first user", consequently with the first one designated as ADMIN. I then added my wife as an account and provided her with ADMIN status as well. I want to basically delete myself off the system so it is essentially her computer. Can I do that and she will have all the main privileges? This all stems from a problem with one of my wife's favorite websites, Shutterfly. Their Upload Assistant for iPhoto only works for the first user of the system. Even after I have done the following in various orders and combinations: 1. Made her an ADMIN, 2. Reduced myself to STANDARD, 3. Given her ownership of iPhoto and of the Shutterfly Plugin, 4. Transferred the Shutterfly Plugins to her Library, etc. It just does not work and Shutterfly has said they know it and can't really fix it....whatever. And before you say it (as everyone else has the same idea...and believe me....I certainly agree with them), she is not willing to go to another type of site because she loves Shutterfly.....which just kills me. But anyways.....just thought I would pick your brain some. Thanks.

Changing primary user (in a test machine)

People,I have a NT4 machine with 2 cubes. Essbase 5.0.2.I want to test in another machine, Essbase 6.5 under Windows 2000.I installed a D: drive so I have the exact storage as my NT4 production machine, but that first user we create I named different from production, say ADMIN in prod and SKY in test.Now I was told to copy essbase.sec from prod to test (to have all 300+ users and filters and so on), but since the users are different, they told me I'm going to have problems.Is that right ?ps.: I also read in Installation Guide that this copy of SEC file is not recommended or supported by Hyperion. I think the correct behavior should be like what you said, but in my side, I always saw an error message when I prompt the plan unit to the next owner(I defined the next owner as a group with two users) automatically.
Since I am using a Chinese version of EPM11.1.2.0, I don't know the exact error message in English, from my understanding, it should be "Failed: automatic user is unclear".
is this a bug in EPM11.1.2.0? do I need a patch?
I am new to the process management feature, please tell me if I missed something.

I started with an iPod years ago and have since added an iPad and iPhone 5S to our list of products. My husband is the primary user of the iPad and iPhone. Should I change my Apple ID information to his name or should he create a new Apple ID and have my content transferred to his account?

Who ever uses the iCloud email address or has their contacts, calendars etc etc on the account should keep the existing ID for iCloud, the other one should create their own ID, you can both keep using the current ID for iTunes if you have a shared media collection.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Primary user e-mail address

Wanting to sign up for free Wi-fi but I need the primary user e-mail address. It's been years since this was set up and I can't remember it or the password. How do I get round this problem? Do I change the primary user e-mail address if so how?

Change Default User Creation OU in Unity 7.x

How do I change where users are created by default when they are added through the web system administration on unity 7.x and Exchange 2003? For a failover system do i need to modify it on both servers, or just the primary? I looked through the reconfiguration guide and didn't see anything that specifically covered this..

Change my User Name?

I am a brand new Mac user and am trying to learn everything on my own. Among many other questions, how can I change the name of my computer? When I bought the computer, the Geek Squad "optimized" it but they imputed my husbands name on everything instead of mine (since it was his credit account) but I am the primary user. Call me selfish, but I want my name on everything.
I have changed my User Name under Preferences>Accounts, and I have managed to change info in Address Book. However, in Finder, the name of my "home" is still set to my hubby's name and when I pull up "Get Info" I cannot change it. If you can help, I would appreciate it. It is moderately annoying to me.

Change primary icloud account

How does one change the primary iCloud account on a desktop Mac. I have changed the appleID of the primary user successfully, but there seems to be no way to change the primary iCloud account.

Simply:
1.     back up Calendar and Address book if you haven't recently
2.     open System Prefs on your desktop Mac
3.     open iCloud
4.     on the left side, click SIGN OUT
5.     say yes to the three alerts (it will delete your calendar and address book info, which will be restored once you sign in again.
6.     sign in again using the primary account you want

Cant log into primary user

I shut my computer (and IMAC with Intel chips running Tiger, OS 10.4.11) this morning and everything appeared normal.
When I turned it on this evening and tried to log into my user (the main one) it starts (after I enter the password) as normal. The dock appears, then the legends/icons along the top appear, then after a few seconds the screen change blue and the user menu reappears. I can log into all of the other users, but not the primary user. I tried various things to resolve the problem, without luck. Does anyone have a suggestion?
I've shut off the computer, unplugged it and plugged it back in, removed all of the external hard drives and ran disc utilities and made necessary repairs, but still no luck.
I've gotten into the primary user's desktop and other folders thru the "back door" from another user, but would like to access the primary user from the user menu (the way it was before the problem).

One followup to the problem. The same problem reoccurred late yesterday after I shut my computer off then turned it back on. Prior to shutting it off, the computer seemed to be acting a little unusual, but most noticeably while I was digitizing video in Final Cut Express. I was having trouble getting through the digitizing, that is, the digitizing would randomly stop. This usually means that the computer has too many open programs running, since the digitizing process tends tie up the computers processor. I still had problems digitizing even with most programs off. That's why decided to shut the computer off and reboot, however I immediately encountered the original problem again when the computer started up. This time I had to toss out "com.apple.systempreferences.plist" to get going but prior to that I did something else. After getting into the "home" users desktop through the "guest "user, I cleared out about half of the desktop (put files in folders or deleted files on the desktop). I had almost a 1000 files/folders on the desktop. I felt that this number of files on the desktop might be causing a slowdown and might be causing other problems. Anyway, since doing that, the computer seems to be running fine. I've shut down and restarted several times without a problem. Hopefully, it will continue to work.

Sorry - but still cannot see my primary user account

I have tried everything in this post, some of them more than once.
There are three user accounts on my shiny new iMac, and all are Admin users. After the Upgrade, the computer rebooted into my main user account. However, when I tried to install the update, the system would not accept my password.
No problem, just use the Leopard install disk to change the password. Restarted under the install disk, opened the change password utility, re-typed the passwords to the two user accounts, and rebooted.
So now I see only one of the user accounts (not the primary one). And so the journey begins.
I have reinstalled 10.5, using 'Archive and Install'. No luck. I have logged in as root (that worked at least) and did manage to copy the primary user folder to another disk. But when I tried to recreate the user account, using the same name and short name, the system told me I couldn't use the names because they were already being used.
So everything is still there, but it's not getting into the Accounts setup pane. Which is a pain. (bad pun -- sorry!)
I have installed 10.5.1, and still no luck.
Even logged in as a single user, and got the 'Socket is not connected' message.
Any more ideas?

I'm in the same boat. The fixes detailed have not solved my problem. The account is visible when booting from the install DVD and I can change the password, but when rebooting from the HD the account does not show up on the list. If I change the mode so that I enter the account name and password they do not work. If I go in using single-user mode and try changing the password I get the error message that the account is disabled. If I go in as root I can get to everything, so it is all still there, but it is locked up otherwise.
I don't want to gork my wife's info or settings. Help will be muchly appreciated thank you most intensively in advance.

Did you change the email address or create a new Apple ID?
If the email address associated with the account was merely changed, sign out of the Apple ID on the devices and sign in using the new credentials.

Windows intune message are you the primary users of this computer?

When logged in with a adminstrative account, we successfully installed the Windows Intune client with the login crecentials that are specific for one user.
When this user is logged in to his Windows desktop and he wants to start the Company Portal, he receives a message after using his Intune account credentials:
"Are you the primary users of this computer? To take full advantage of the Windows Intune Portal, and to able to install apps on this computer, it has to be linked to you. If you aren't linked as the primary user of this computer, you will not be able
to install apps from this portal.
You have the option Yes or No.
When selecting Yes, you will receive an error: Oops... an error occured! Link was not successful. An error occured when we tried to link you to this device. You will not be able to install apps onto this device from Windows Intune Portal before you are linked
to the device. For assistance Contact IT.
More information will show you an Activity ID code.
When you continue you can install apps from the Portal, but each time you connect to the Portal you will receive this message.
Is this a bug?

Depending on how you plan on using Intune this may not apply but for us, it provided a "decent" work around for windows 8.1 devices.
During our initial testing of Intune, we got around this "error" message on Windows 8.1 devices by installing the Company Portal app. It required a separate Windows Store account to successfully install the app as none of my corporate test accounts
were linked to Microsoft accounts, which you had the option to do.
Once the App was installed I was finally able to log into our Company Store with the test Intune account that was linked to the Windows 8.1 tablet. Our published LOB apps were listed along with the linked device too.
You could definitely deploy or sideload the Company Portal app, but for my testing purposes installing from the Store was sufficient. Unfortunately, logging in from the website or the Applications link located in the Windows Intune Center
still will not work. A solution would be greatly appreciated as we were hoping to deploy to Windows 7 devices also.
