Changing publishing group name in AD

I need to rename a group in AD. There are packages published for this group.
Do I need to unpublish the packages and publish to renamed group. Or APPVMAN will react accordingly.

App-V Management Server works of SID so changing the name or any other property of the object will not affect your publishing and the server will continue as normal.

Hi,
I have the same problem.
We are using the group name for departments.
How you know department names are dynamically.
So I need to chnage them sometimes.
So I want to change the displayname of that grous, not the id.
How can I do that? And when I cant, can someone explain me the function of the displayname.
Otherwise can I use the UME-API to change it?

App-V Server : Changing Connection Group Name through powershell.

Is it possible to change the name of existing Connection group through powershell ?
I've tried using Set-AppvServerConnectionGroup but i was unable to change the name of existing group.

Do this:

Lost navigation after changing SharePoint group names

This morning I've changed the names of security groups of one of our subsites on our SharePoint intranet. After that, I noticed that the navigation did not mention the document libraries any more. I cannot believe changing the name of a security group can
have this consequence. Yet, I can see no document libraries any more in my navigation since this morning.
When I take a look at the navigation under site settings, I can still see these document libraries.

Problem was audience targeting.
Do the following,
Click the document lib and click edit
Now you have popup one window on this change the new group name under audience

You can only change the names of evaluation groups
IMG ==> Financial Accounting ==> Asset Accounting ==> Master Data ==> User Fields ==> Change Key Words in the Evaluation Groups
You can use customer enhancement AIST0002 in order populate user fields in asset master.

Changing Group Names in ACS

I am working at a client site whom is running a fairly recent version of ACS. They have some old group names under Network that they want to change to make their descriptions more valid. Is it possible to change Network Device Group Names in ACS? How about changing just "Group Names".

Hi Kevin,
It seems you are asking about ACS 4.x. IF that is the case then yes, we can change NDG name.
Editing a Network Device Group
To edit an NDG, you must first access the NDG. To do so, click the name of the NDG in the Network Device Groups table. Click Edit Properties at the bottom of the page.
For changing individual aaa-client we need to delete and readd it.

Hi Deepa,
Reports Builder will assign a default name to a group inside the data model when you write the query, but once a name has been assigned to a group, it should not keep changing the group's name.
For your own custom name, double click on the group heading in the data model, and type your desired name in the "Name" field of the Property Inspector that comes up. It should not change thereafter.

Change a Wiki group name?

Hello.
We've had a wiki set up for a certain group and I'm now required to change the name of said group. I set up a test group called "Test Group", created a wiki for them, then I changed the group name/shortname in WGM, but this new name isn't reflected in the wiki.
So, wondering, how do I go about making a change to the group name and have it reflected in the wiki?

i had the same problem, and found a solution which worked for me. some of these steps may not be necessary, but i'm not sure which, so...
1. in workgroup manager, turn off the services and save the group.
2. then, change the shortname (and long name if you wish), and save the group.
3. then, re-enable the services and save the group.
4. stop and restart the webserver and the wikiserver (see below)
5. use a browser to view the brand new, empty wiki for this group, which also creates the folder for the wiki in /Library/Collaboration/Groups
6. on the command line, become root and change to the /Library/Collaboration/Groups directory. in there, rename the new group folder to something else
7. rename the old group folder the new group name
8. inside the old group folder (with the new name), remove the index.db file
9. change all the plist files in this directory and any subdirectories to update the file locations to the new directory... (see below)
10. stop and restart the web and wiki servers (as #4)
11. use a browser to see the old contents under the new name
for items 4 and 10, i created the following script to make it easier for me...

for item 9, as my wiki had nearly 150 pages, i didn't want to edit every file by hand, so inside the group folder i used the following command
sed -e '/oldgroupname/s//newgroupname/' -i .bk `find . -name \*.plist`
obviously, i didn't use "oldgroupname" and "newgroupname", and that command needs to be run as root.
that will use the find command to get the names of all the plist files, and sed will edit each file, changing all instances of the oldgroupname to the newgroupname, and keep a backup of the original plist file with a ".bk" added to the name.

Once the group has been submitted we can change it if required - we decided that the user changing it on the APEX app would require a lot of propagation of changes through the system so we make any changes vi scripts and the back-end management tools.
Give me a few minutes to change the group name etc.

Changing group names (5.x)

We are using ADAWS in a version 5 portal. We need to change the names of some groups in Active Directory (AD). To test this, I changed one group name in AD and ran the AWS and PWS synchronizations. It appears that the group is still synchronized; however, the name of the group in the portal did not get changed. It still has the old name.
Will I have to manually change the group names in the portal to match the new AD names? It appears that after creation, Active Directory and the portal deal with groups only on the basis of objectGUID/AUTHUNIQUENAME and memberships, not the Active Directory "CN", "name", or "sAMAccountName" entries. (We have set "Group Name Attribute" to "CN" in the PWS Agent Configuration.) ---Ken

I doubt this will help you in the short term, but I would encourage anyone developing portlets to use portal "Activity Rights" to check for whether a user should be allowed to do things rather than just checking for a specific group name. Activity Rights are exactly what they sound like: the right to do something, but basically, they are just a named key that is attached to a group (or several groups). The EDK provides a simple call to check if a person has any specific Activity Right.
The advantages of Activity Rights are that: they can be managed in the portal; they can be assigned to multiple groups, and removed from all groups; the portlet doesn't need to hard code a Group name, just the Activity Right key value; Activity Rights are migratable objects, which means that (unlike object ids) they can be migrated and checked by the same code in Dev, Test, and Prod systems.

View and Control Group Name on Upload?

Is possible to view the group name or to control the group name on a file in Dreamweaver when it is uploaded?
Since the beginning of this year when I create a new file such as a folder or a PDF and upload it, it is attributing a wrong group to my user name. If I create a new HTML file from a template and upload, that file is attributed to the correct group with my user name. I can't figure out if you can view the group for a file in Dreamweaver or if you can control it, I've had to use another FTP client to view the group name and figure out this was my problem.
This group name inconsistancy is causing serious issues, giving me and others in the group the "access denied" error because the files are uploading with the wrong group name. Is there anyway to change the group name or make sure when I upload a file, the correct name is on it?
I am using a Mac, but others in the group are using a PC and have the same issue. Not sure if the group name is something we can and should be controlling or something that is out of our reach.

If you are giving permissions to a group or a user, each has a name. Users are part of a group that have access to certain files.
There are user names and group names, it's part of the permissions. My user name is coming up with two different group names when I am uploading files, sometimes the files have the correct group name associated with my user name and sometimes they have an incorrect group name tied to my user name. I need to know if these group names can be viewed in Dreamweaver anywhere like the permissions are so I know when a file is not accessible to others in my group, and if I can control what group name is being assigned to a file when I upload it. Currently I am using another FTP client to see the what the group name is next to a file, but I cannot change the group name in it if it is wrong.

I have a Hierarchial table with ID,ParentID and CategoryName
My report is grouped by ParentID, however I want change the Group Name to be the CategoryName where ID = ParentID. Not having much luck as I am very new to CR.

Not sure I understand what you mean...open select expert on report on on groupname?
I tried groupname and got no results, same for report. Please note ParentID and ID never match.
For Parent Records columns would be as follows

How to change the Group Display Name in the UME?

Hello experts,
from time to time due to reorganisation our departments group names change.
So far this was a big deal because it is not possible to change the Display Name of a group created in the Portal´s UME?
So far a new group with the department name has to be created and all group members have to be connected to the new group again. This is not a convenient way..
Is there a way to configure the UME to allow to modify the Display Names of Groups?

Thank you for the quick answer.
However my problem is still not solved.
I am using the portal groups also as permission objects for KM. That´s why I do not want to create a new group because the new one will not appear in the ACLs of the KM Objects.
For me it is important to modify the Display Name of an existing Group. The GroupID shall not change. The new Display Name should be updated then automatically in the ACLs of KM Objects in question.
By exporting the group data:
[group]
gid=TeamA
gdesc=All members of Team A
user=member1, member2
There is no parameter for changing the Display Name of the group. There is only the Description Parameter.
So far I didn´t find any solution.
Any other ideas.

How to change Group-name of custom step-type?

Hello,
i´m using TS4.1 and miss a input-parameter which was avaiulable in TS3.5.
I have some labview-vis which should be TS-teststeps and they all shoul be placed in a group.
Do do this i open the "Types" and select one of my created types. The i rightclick the step and select properties.
In the tab "Menu" i can set a name for the step BUT the parameter to set the Group is no more available?
This was also in the Tab Menu in TS 3.5 but now in TS4.1 there is only Item-name.
Where can i set the Group-name od my steps?

Hi!
Now you can go in the Insertion Palette in TS 4.1 (the Step Palette on the left side) and right click on Customize... (see attachement)
There you have the menu where you can change the group for all steps in the palette.
So now you have the possibility to change, create and move groups inside your palette.

Same way you select multipl items anywhere else.
Hold ctrl and click the items you want.
If they are in consecutive order, click the 1st then Shift click the last.
