Changing Raw files to JPEG

I have loaded Photos into Aperture 3 in a RAW format How do I change/Save the changes in JPEG format

OK Terence, No problem. My points #3-#4-#5 were addendums to the most basic and obvious major point made by gowen69 (and could be inferred by the very existence of an AppleScript someone made to do the specific task I wanted to also).
I also was slightly 'miffed,' at a perception (or misperception) implying my Purchase Decision of Aperture was questionable. The focus of Apple Discussion is best, I think, sticking to the topic of making things work, resolving Apple computer/software problems. (Alas, I'm afraid we have now both strayed from this 'making things work/resolving computer problems' focus...but I thought your comments unnecessary and trite and wanted to point that out.)
Re: Living in Ireland? Well...gosh...it was such a positive experience and I saw and felt such an appreciation for human interaction: i.e. having a story to tell, a song to sing, or a dance to do, to engage people or ideas on the street, in a pub, at the green grocer, etc. -- a bit of the 'Irish craik' -- a willingness to engage, to 'get down to it,' to jump into a discussion full-tilt and not just brush off everything with clichés.
Now, while there didn't I get into a grand fiddle sponsored by the Irish National Celtic Tiger Re-engagement Enterprise and Development Association. It was full of eye-opening insights; and I noted some profound differences between my Irish cousins and myself, especially on the ideas of success and enterprise: Yanks pretty much unabashedly applaud and admire success....um,even if we have to fabricate such stories, myths or, gasp, 'American dreams.'
Thus, I was FULL OF ADMIRATION that some Dude, somewhere, noticed a way he could use his brains to make a simple -- downloadable -- product that would give some people a workflow they desired; and he was selling it, worldwide, at a more than reasonable price.
Your view of this was not the same as mine. You seemed to think a software program shouldn't be fiddled with? --- No Applescripts? ---No Automator actions? People should get what they get and like it the way it is? Or if they don't like it the way it is, tough luck, what type of e-d-i-o-t-s were they anyhow?
The $1.99 Applescript works brilliantly, btw. (And the RAW files can be retrieved and kept outside of any Aperture Library, if desired). Aperture also works brilliantly, imo. I got rid of 100Mbs of files in one day. I want the program to remain fast, not get clogged up. With over 7,000 pics from professional work and avocation (in a few different libraries) I didn't want this to be a problem.
OK Terence? No problem? This clear enough?

  • HT3825 so how do you convert the raw files to jpeg in iphoto?

how do you convert the raw files to jpeg in iphoto?

    Many thanks Barbara and dj_paige.
What I didn't mention is that I'm using PSE 5 with ACR 4.6, if its relevant.  I'm thinking of updating to the next version when its out in the hope that it will run with Windows 7 64 bit or I may go to Lightroom.
I can now see that I can batch convert a whole folder of files using "process multiple files" as dj_paige suggested but that is too many at once as the settings I choose won't be relevant for all the pics in the folder.
I was hoping to batch convert say 5 or 6 similar photos at a time with the same settings. I'm not quite clear what you're suggesting but I'm hoping that its a "work round" using two stages to achieve this.
I can't see a list of open files within ACR to ensure that they are all selected as you suggest.
What does clicking Open rather than Done mean?  Does this amend the original RAW file to the settings selected so that if I then "process multiple files" on the whole folder to convert from RAW to JPEG they will in fact have already been processed in smaller groups so I can convert without applying any further changes?
If so, what settings should I apply to "process multiple files" to ensure a simple conversion of file type rather than any further adjustments?
Any further help on this would be much appreciated.

Bridge will do the job. View > Sort > ByType. Then you can choose a group of one type and put the files in a separate folder.

  • Export a raw file to jpeg losses lens information

When I export a raw file to jpeg it losses the lens information.

    Ernie,
I have never paid attention to those tags on exported JPGs before, but I have recreated the scenario you described.  I have a Canon XTi, and my CR2 master files have about 12 more EXIF tags than the JPG versions.  Excluded in the JPG is the lens model.
However, the lens information for my camera is Canon proprietary tags.  That is, the general EXIF lens tags are not populated by my camera, so I would not expect them to be translated to regular EXIF tags by Aperture in a JPG.  I.e., I don't think Aperture will take metadata from one proprietary tag and put it in the place of another standard tag.  I suspect that is the same is true in your case.

  • Lightroom wont allow me to convert RAW file to JPEG

    Hi
I have tried and failed to export a RAW file to JPEG. When i highlight the RAW images to export i get a message, "source file are offline or missing". Does anyone know what this means and how can i save RAW images to JPEG?

I chose to move the images to a different file when they were exported to jpeg
Do you mean "I chose to move the images to a different file  FOLDER when they BEFORE I TRIED to export to jpeg"?
If so, this is an unnecessary step in Lightroom, that actually interferes with you using the photos in Lightroom. Best to not move the files any more using your operating system, and use Lightroom tools such as keywords, captions and other metadata to help you segregate and organize your photos.
To fix this problem now, either use your operating system to move the photos back to their original location, or use this: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm

  • Can't separate raw files from jpegs in my ipad iphoto...

i recently purchased iphoto for my ipad but i cannot separate raw files from jpegs. i can see them all in my imac and save all files properly, but then i would like to erase raw files and keep only jpegs in my ipad but cannot find how to do it! any help? thank you!

yes I am importing pairs raw+jpeg using the camera connection kit. for what I understood reading the entire discussion you suggested, the solution is, after saving the files elsewhere, to delete the photos, but ipad would erase only raw files, leaving the jpeg. but I tried with one photo, and after deleting it, the photo was gone entirely!..
also, I still cannot see both pictures (raw and jpeg) in my ipad iphoto. i can see them in my imac iphoto, but it seems the program runs differently according to the device.. that would make things so much easier for everybody!
a button 'select all' would also be appreciated I am sure!

  • Hello- I am a Canon photographer.  I use Bridge (CS5) to process my raw files to jpegs.  I am taking on a second photographer who shoots Nikon (D800) and i am not currenty able to see or process his images.  Can you please help?  thankyou!

Hello- I am a Canon photographer.  I use Bridge (CS5) to process my raw files to jpegs.  I am taking on a second photographer who shoots Nikon (D800) and i am not currently able to see or process his images.  Can you please help?  thank you!

    According to Adobe:
    D800
    NEF
    6.7, 7.1
    4.1
    D800E
    NEF
    6.7, 7.1
    4.1
The fact that they have 2 versions of ACR means that initial support for the D800 was added in 6.7  but that complete support was finalized in 7.1 (the 4.1 in the chart is for Lightroom)
I'm not sure that this means there are missing features, but rather refinements and optimized settings were added in 7.1
    However, ACR 7.1 requires CS6.
As Dag mentioned, you can also use the latest version of DNG Converter to convert the D800 files to DNGs which will be able to be opened in older versions of ACR.
The DNG converter only works on folders of files, not individual files. So just select the folder and convert. All the files in the folder will be converted.

I realise this isn’t necessarily your problem, buy I’m having trouble converting my RAW files to jpegs.
Even though my RAW files are 90MB plus, the jpegs when converted are only around 6MB.

HHi Barbara, thanks for replying to my post.
No there's nothing wrong with the Jpegs, but I want to srart uploading images for sale in Alamy, but they say they must be a minimum of 17mb un compressed. Does that mean that at 6mb compressed from 90mb they'd be acceptable?
    thanks,

  • Why does aperture convert my raw files to jpegs when I import them from iPhoto?

Why does aperture convert my raw files to jpegs when I import them from iPhoto?

    It doesn't.
When you import  Raw to iPhoto the app makes a jpeg preview of the Raw automatically. When you import from iPhoto then Aperture brings over both versions.

  • How do you convert Raw files into jpeg.

I have never shot in Raw before and I have a huge project due tomorrow. I need help Asap. What is the easiest way to convert Raw files into jpeg, can Light Room convert the files. I have tried so many different ways and nothing seems to work.

It depends on the sofware you have.  ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) hosted by Bridge or by Photoshop can convert ("open") raw files, as can Lightroom.
However, not all camera models are supported by all versions of the software.  We need to know the make and exact model of the camera that generated the raw files to advice you further.
We can also assist you with the conversion through ACR hosted by Photoshop.
Olease note that there are dedicated forums for Lightroom, for Adobe Camera Raw and for Bridge.
Here's the list of which cameras are supported by each version of ACR.  Note that later versions supporte all camera models supported in previous versions of ACR.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407111.html
    Note that the latest version of ACR to run in CS4 is ACR 5.3;
    CS3 runs ACR 4.6;
    CS2 runs ACR 3.7;
    CS runs 2.4.

  • Am I able to convert RAW files to jpegs on Photoshop Elements?

Am I able to convert RAW files to jpegs on Photoshop Elements?

    Hi,
Sorry, but with the information you have given, the only answer I can give is "possibly".
Each camera model produces a slightly different raw format - even different models by the same manufacturer and even if they have the same extension (file type). The latest cameras will not be supported by older versions of Photoshop Elements although there is a converter which can help.
To give you a better answer, we need to know
    1) The camera make and model
    2) The version of Photoshop Elements that you are using
    3) The operating system that you are running on.

  • Elements 12 organiser has changed all raw files to jpeg - how do I get raw files back?

Cannot edit raw files as Elements (12) seems to have changed them all to jpegs - can anyone let me know how to get raw files back?

    Hello Jim,
Many thanks for your response.  Wondering if we did something in Elements preferences?  Usually, when thumbnails are opened in the editor, it’s a raw file to work on.  However, all the thumbnails, when opened in the editor, are all of a sudden opening as jpegs …. not raw.  o it looks as though all the raw files are now jpegs, and we don’t know how to get them back.
Any help you can offer will be gratefully received, as my husband works on his photos in Elements and it’s driven him mad!
    Many thanks & regards.
