Changing restricted variables on the layout.......
Hi All,
I'm not sure if this is a bug or just the way BPS works, but here's the issue.
We've created user-defined variable for 'Version', and in the definition we made it restricted by the user at the time of executing the layout.
So when you first execute the layout, it does what it should and prompts you in a pop-up window to select a particular version from what the user is offered based on his user-defined values.
The problem is, when you exit the layout and come back in, or even when you're in the existing layout you don't have the chance to bring up that pop-up window again to change your selection.
If you click on the 'Other Combination' icon in the layout, the version appears, but it's protected and cannot be changed.
Instead, you have to always go to the 'Set Variable' tool to change the the version you want to view.
The 'Set variable' tool is not very user friendly, especially when you have a big list of variables to choose from, and it also forces the user to know various technical information to be able to select thr right variable for his needs.
How can we get the variable pop-up to come up to change the variable vaalue, without having to go to 'Set Variable'?

Hi Ehab,
Unfortunately that is the way BPS works. It keeps the variable value in a buffer that basically consists of two tables upc_var_cha_sel and upc_var_cha_act. Check them out.
I created a solution that automatically clears these tables of the variable value and gives the user a fresh popup box whenever they access the planning folder.
The following is a thread I posted earlier with the sample code.

This code is part of an exit function in the planning scenario and can be executed by choosing the function attributes under Global Planning Functions in UPSPM and selecting either 'Function as Pushbuttton', 'Execute Function when Saving' or as I prefer, 'Execute Function when Starting field'.

How to change Global variable in the query
Hi,
I have 6 reports which is using 0PDT as a global variable and has single option as a property. Now I want to change this property and have multiple selection but I am not able to change its property.
I am able to see all the filter variables from the query property and from there I am getting edit option to change but the "single selection" option is grey/disable which is preventing me to make change in this variable. Is there any way that I delete this variable and create a local variable which has date range option.
This is affecting all my reports and all the report needs date ranges instead of single select option.

You can change the restrictions with new variable(right click on required infoobject and choose restrict -->> choose variables -->> move existing variable from right to left and move new variable. Then you can see only one variable.
You can not delete any variable if is using in some queries.

Assuming you want to change the sequence of Selection variables of the Query.
Goto Properties of the Query beside "Execute" button, in the right panel, you will find " Variable Sequence" tab, here you can arrange sequence of variables. Use the up and down arrow button to move up or down as you require.

Heading Change for keyfigures in the layouts
Hi-
We have two keyfigures in Manual Layouts which has short description as heading. Now users want to see Long description as heading.
1. I went to change mode of Manual layout and copied the "Long description" to heading. Still when users are creating the contracts in CRM, they are not seeing my changes. Is there any thing else I have to do. I dont find any option to activate the layouts or planning area.
2. How to transport the layouts if the same technical name is used in different Planning levels? for Eg: lets say we have a layout called "XYZ" in two different Planning levels, should I transport the layout with the planning level? or I can jus transport the layout.I figured it out...

How to change the lengths of the layout

I am executing one report, output is coming fine but next if i go to print preview for PO number only 9 digits are appearing one digit is missing, actually column is trucated, there in print preview there is one tab called Change Layout, there if i see length of the PO no is 9, so its showing only 9 digits, actually length of the PO no should be 10.in change layout the length is editable i can change from 9 to 10, after that there is a button called copy, then it will show correctly, it works only one time, so each and every time user has to change the length, so can any one suggest how to change that length in the layout permanently, bcos there is no save button there.

That depends upon the space provided by the ALV column for that variable or the heading size its not based on the data element size.
If you want to be more clear lust count the space available for each field available at the print preview.
The details for that are stored in table T180S just see the documentation available for that table.
And see when the table is getting filled like that so that you will be able to find a solution where and how it is getting populated.
Use column width optimization for getting the correct output.

Can we change the layout of the JAVATABLE to accomdate to the set Screen Resolution??
Using Oracle Express 6.3.4 we are creating dataview(OLAP)in Web.
We have set the background of the page calling a particular gif file.
Now that the tool bar and Javatable color(Grey is the default colour) is not matching with the background of the gif file.
I tried my best to change the color as a whole.But ended up in changing some portion of the layout like the pageedge,rowedge & columnedge colour in the JAVA TABLE.
Can some one throw light on this???Is it possible to change the background of the whole applet to our likes.

Nanda Kishore KompalaNanda, you are right, there are certain areas of the table where you cannot change the color. There is currently no property for this.

The layout shows data that aren`t in the infocube
Hi.
I have created 3 layouts with BPS with one selection variable.
When I execute the layout, I filter trow the selection variable for one value that isn't in the infocube but the layout shows some records.
I have tried to remove the records form the layout but they shows again.
Any body can help me?

I see 3 possibilities to explain the system behaviour
1. You are using the combination proposal in the planning layout.
2. Some characteristics used in the rows are restricted to one value in the planning package (or level). In the area for new lines the system automatically print out these values to reduce the reduce the amount of work to fill new lines.
3. You are using the Excel In-Place and you have changed some formatting in the Layout Builder. There the system uses dummy data for a preview. Maybe your Excel template contains some of the dummy data. The system usually saves the Excel template without the dummy data but when formatting or the posistion of some column where changed the system might no know the new position to delete the dummy data, cf. documentation

You can check check the Excel template using transaction bdn1 or oaer (depending of
the release). Use class name = SEM_BPS, class type = OT and object key
= area_level_0-MP_layout where area, level, layout are the technical
names of the planning area, etc. You can display (and down-, upload the
Excel template). One can try to repair the Excel template or update
the layout with the master template and change the formats as suggested
in the documentation.

Allow caller to permanantly change a variable in a Unity Express AA script
Is there a way to allow a caller to change a variable permanently so that when they hang up it's stored for all subsequent callers? Using the "set" operator within the CUE Editor I can allow a caller to change a variable but the change is only for that caller's session, so it's not a persistent change.
You might be wondering why I would want this. We have a customer that has an auto-attendant that should play one of about 10 professionally recorded greetings during different times depending on a list of scenarios. The changes cannot be scheduled or predicted, they just need to be able to change them on-demand. We have given the customer access to the CUE GUI so that they can change the parameter for the greeting file and that works great while they are in the office or at home. But if they are out on the road they want to be able to call in to make the change. So I tested using a hidden menu in their CUE script and I can successfully change the variables based on digits dialed, but the problem is the changes don't stick. So as soon as they hangup the parameter remains unchanged.
Any ideas?
Another way I could accomplish this would be if there was a way that they could remotely change a call forward all setting for a DN through a TUI. Then I could make it work based on the referring DN coming into the script, but from what I've researched, it's not possible to alter CFA from offsite with feature access codes. You have to be using a phone with the DN assigned to it for FACs to work.

I created a variable CURRMTH on Characteristic Fiscal Year/Period in my PLANNING AREA.

Now, I created a Layout

Dynamically changing the layout of thre report-urgent please
Can we change the layout of the report dynamically during runtime for example:the user should have flexibility to change the width, size , position of columns before the report is displayed & also he choose some fields not to display as per his discretion.
MaheshThere are several ways of doing this, it really depends on your requirements as to which is suitable. (There are probably other ways of doing this as well).
- Try Reports XML Customizations
This is available in 6i and allows you to create a report dynamically on the fly. The template used will also allow you to change the paper size as well. The main limitation is that you are relying only on Reports defaulting to create the layout for you. The advantage is that you can store all your information to create the report in meta-data which can be driven by another tool.
- Use lexical parameters for queries and format triggers
Here, you have a fixed layout but dynamically change the query columns to the correct order. You would normally standardise on a "character" column type in order to do this. Even though the layout is fixed, you can use variable sized fields to push objects around. This can be difficult to setup.
- Use several layouts
You're reducing the options for the user, but you can have several layouts in the same report and turn them on/off. Effectively creating differing views of the same data. -
