Changing router to 3rd party router

I've been thinking about upgrading my router to a 3rd party AC wireless router so I can use more of my bandwith on my laptop and other wireless gadgets.  My question is can I change it and keep all my tv services. I was told I have to use verizon's as a bridge. If I can how would I go about doing it.

Check your new router's manual for how to put it into Access Point Mode. (most new AC routers just require changing a setting, some/ those without an explicit setting will require you turn off DCHP and make sure it is plugged in via one of its LAN ports ).*  All your services will remain because your Actiontec will essentially be doing all the heavy lifting. You can even leave the WiFi on the old router on but I would recommend spacing out the channels to prevent interference. (also it is not very neighbor friendly if you live in an apartment)
Bridging the Actiontec is only needed if:
You have a pretty old one and want to do a lot of torrenting/ gaming (the older ones have small NAT tables ... I think any of the ones over 100,00 should be fine for most)
You want to use some specialized features besides WiFi on your new router (its firewall, advanced management of the usb port, ect.... Access Point mode disables some of these features)
You have time to waste
You have so much heavy traffic/ devices on your router that the cpu/ ram of your new router will make a difference (unlikely)
Anyway, if you do bridge (and it is a fun little project if you have the time), you can create a double bridge which shouldn't be much harder to fix the On Demand problem**. It is option 5 of this guide: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/16077
*Just plugging the router in normally without putting it in Access Point Mode means all your WiFi internet traffic has to go through two routers to reach the internet. It will likely work most of the time, but it may cause unnecessary problems with devices on your network communicating to each other and also port forwarding which is important to a lot of  applications.
**Only On Demand and DVR will go away with a regular bridge... Not your entire TV service. (possibly the tv guide/ on screen caller ID but I've heard from multiple people that is not the case)

  • Changes Allowed on the 3rd Party Sales Order when PO is created

    Hello,
We have a requirement to change the Sales Order even if the PO is already created for teh 3rd party order. I am not sure which fields and what changes can we do if the PO is already created for the 3rd Party sales order.
Can you please guide me in pointing to the configuration or any user exit that we can control the field changes on the 3rd party sales order when teh PO is already created.
    Thank you!
    Chandrakant

    Venu,
FIRST ANSWER THE BELOW TWO QUESTIONS.
    1. Did you understand what Shiva has mentioned?
He has clearly mentioned that  you can change the PO qty and in standard it self the same PO changed  qty will be reflected in Sales order schduline lines qty, and he also mentioned that if this is not happening then advised to refer the Note 1361281.
    2. Did you read the note?
It says that It will occur if the sales order line item is part of the delivery group or if you have set the complete delivery indicator for the sales order. And it also advised to apply the program code to over come the issue.
Please note: before commenting others just check once in system then talk, don't just blindly through the ball, it will not have good results.
Before also mentioned the same, but you still repeating the same.
Sorry Moderators that i have mentioned some lines in the Note here.
    thanks,

  • Problems connecting 3rd party webservices from workerrole

    Hello,
I have the problem that since 2015.01.28 ~22:00, my service deployed as a workerrole in an Azure instance cannot reach 3rd party webservices. This was a sudden issue as it worked for half a year without any changes.
The 3rd party webservices work fine, I can reach them from my development environment without any trouble, the provider of these webservices also could assure me that it works fine for others.
The call that fails is a simple WebClient call (with credentials) to a URL in order to read a (tiny) file and take followup actions.
The call fails with the following error:
System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond
after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond <ip:port>
The question: have there been any changes recently, either in the Azure services environment or networking that could explain this?
If i connect remotely to the instance and attempt to make the calls manually via IE, they succeed, but very slowly.
I have deployed the service to another datacenter as a test, so right now I have one running in East US and Western Europe, but both face the same issues. The service is running on Azure SDK 2.1, the instance is running on windows server 2012R2.
The service works fine when I run it on my development environment via compute emulator. No connection issues.
Any help is welcome, thanks ahead.

Looks like a timeout issue. Try to increase timeout of your call to see if you get any success. If OK, then for sure it is timeout problem. Then check if it is DNS problem. Use IP address to call instead of hostname. You mention it is slow in IE. Where
is IE located? You can also try to call using IP address instead of hostname to see if it speeds up. Is it slow only the first call?

  • 3rd party application sync failures -- BES policy?

I have a BB curve (8310, ATT v4.2.2.170) which is synch'd via BES to corporat email/etall.   I have the BB desktop manager installed on a PC.  The BBDM can: install & remove applications, add/remove multimedia (songs, photos), access the storage card.    When tryign to use the BBDM to synchronize 3rd party application data (aka,  a password keeper like SplashID or Ascendo Data vault), the syncronization fails.   I did install BBDM to use the internet service, not redirector.
My question:   are their policies which my IT group might have set that prevent the synch of 3rd party data.  We tried changing the "allow 3rd party to use USB" to true, that did not help.    If the security policy forces data encryption on the device, could that prevent the sync from happening?       The desktop all looks correct (right BB id, etall), and the app on the BB think's its been synchd, but the data never moves between the two and I get error messages akin to "Synchronization Failed; Please try again. Technical details: tableSystem=NULL"  (this from SplashId).
    Thanks

  • Working with a 3rd party router

I have a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 and wish to use it rather than the gateway (3801HGV) that was provided. I realize that At&t doesn't support 3rd party routers, so I thought I'd ask here. The current setup is: Gateway>Netgear>devices. The netgear is connected as a DMZ port on the gateway. They also have separate subnets. Gateway is 192.168.1.x and netgear is 192.168.2.x. The Netgear has the ports open for Xbox Live. I have 3 devices on the network that don't seem to be working correctly. Two of those devices are TV receivers (wireless and wired) and the other is an Xbox One. The wired receiver and Xbox are connected to a Gigabit switch over by the TV. The TVs freeze and say they lose connection even though they show 10-30 seconds of the channel chosen. The Xbox is having issues keeping connected to party chat. Games and other apps work properly. To work on some troubleshooting, I connected the cables that go to the TVs to the gateway and the TVs are working properly, but I would like everything to be run through the netgear. I'm not the one who plays Xbox, so I am not yet able to test. Is there anything I can do to configure the Netgear or the gateway to allow all devices to be routed through the Netgear? Any help is appreciated.

As my thoughts has said, AT&T doesn't support sending IPTV traffic through a third party router.  If you have a third party router that properly implements IGMPv3, then you may be able to do so, but understand that AT&T doesn't support it. I do not believe your router falls into this category anyway, so it's a moot point.
The symptoms of running your IPTV traffic through a router that doesn't support it is exactly what you've experienced, you get picture for 10-20 seconds after a channel change, then it's lost.  I'm guessing that your issue is that you have only one Cat5e cable run between where the RG and router are and where a TV Receiver and the Xbox are and you need to run traffic for both over that same wire.  Options are (a) get a Wireless Receiver, (b) use two VLAN with tagging capable gigabit switches to send the tagged traffic over the single cable, then separate it out at the remote switch.

  • Using a 3rd party router for Multicast

    Hi all,
There’s a lot of feedback on this board about using third party routers with Multicast, so we’ve decided to put this information all in the one place for you.
NOTE: the workarounds below haven’t been tested by BT as we do not support 3rd party routers and we do not endorse any of them. Our recommended router remains the Home Hub.
With the above statement in mind, we know that a lot of you do choose to use other routers.  The information contained here has come from fellow customers who have given their time to share this information in good faith. Thanks to all of the forum members who have helped make this information available to our community it is a great example of the wealth of information that a community can provide and we hope this encourages users to come back and visit us in the future.

    Modem -> HH3 -> R6300 -> Powerline -> 2 x Youview Boxes on other Powerlines.
To do this, configure the Home Hub 3.0 as 192.168.1.1, then disable its wireless and DHCP. Make sure that NAT and UPNP were enabled, and then set it to use the address 192.168.1.254 as a DMZ server.
Then configure the R6300 as the address 192.168.0.1, using the WAN IP address of 192.168.1.254, with 192.168.1.1 as the gateway and DNS server. The R6300 is then connected via WAN port to the HH3 Gigabit port.
In the R6300 settings switch on IGMP.
The above settings allow both YouView boxes to use on demand content and different streaming channels simultaneously, as well as giving the full features of the R6300 such as AC1750 wireless, network printing, and DLNA

One of our posters also found the following:
He found that your router must be able to do the following for Multicast:
For an end user connected via Openreach GEA (FTTC and FTTH)
    • The Residential Gateway will support:
    – IPoE for multicast traffic and PPPoE for BB traffic;
    – VLAN tag ID of 0 or no VLAN tag ID for multicast and BB traffic;
    – Fork IGMP requests up multicast and BB paths.
For an end user connected to an MSAN (WBC copper)
    • The Residential Gateway will support:
    – A dual VC architecture;
    – Accept TV Connect multicast traffic on ATM VP/VC 0/35 with IPoE and broadband traffic on ATM VP/VC 0/38 with PPPoE;
    – Fork IGMP requests up multicast and broadband paths.
IGMP should v3 and will be in range from 225.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255

  • Translation route to 3rd party IVR

    HI,
    Below is the requirement.
UCCE  to be integrated with 3rd party IVR.
3rd party IVR receives the call from the network and when customer requires an agent transfer, this IVR will send the call data to their webservice.
This webservice will act as an interface between UCCE and 3rd party IVR.
    We proposed the following,
Install a VRU PG server to interact with this webservice using GED-125.
When an agent transfer is required, 3rd party IVR would send the required call info along with the call as a DNIS to VRUPG via webservice. Using this DNIS, will trigger an ICM script to receive the call data and will have to use trans route to send the call to agent desktop (CAD) along with the received data.
Will this be a right approach? if yes how do we configure transroute to get the data and call into ICM from the 3rd party IVR.
    Regards
    Rafi

    No problem.
As I said earlier, call lands into 3rd party IVR in a different network. UCCE is on a differnt location or geography.
The above IVR talks to their webservice application to set call context data and this webservice will integrate with VRUPG designated to talk to only this webservice. Basicaly the webservice will be treated as any other IVR peripheral (eg..CVP) from UCCE perspective.

  • ISE iPEP + 3rd party device VPN bridge or route mode

    Dear All,
I would like to get some advice from the community regarding my idea.
We would like to integrate ISE iPEP with a 3rd party VPN device using bridge mode.
However i can only find documents describing the following scenarios,
    - routed mode with VPN device
    - bridge mode with Wireless Controller
So the questions is that is bridge mode supported if i would like to integrate ISE iPEP with a 3rd party VPN device or is it even possible to achive this kind of deployment?
    Thank you in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Erik Molnar

Thanks for the reply Marcin.  Both of your suggestions are good ones, however in this scenario both DC firewalls are alive at the same time, so there needs to be some kind of logic on the device at the remote site to say that it should only use tunnel B if tunnel A is down.
Thinking on this, is it possible to run an 'interface' or 'routed' mode IPSEC VPN with the ASA?  I know this is possible with the Fortigates and think it's the default mode for Junipers.  If that were possible we might be able to have both tunnels up and have OSPF run over them which would be another way to solve this problem.

  • 3rd party application audio routing

I have not upgraded to Leopoard yet but I am very curious as to whether anyone has had experience with routing audio from both Mac apps (iTunes, QuickTime Player, etc.) and 3rd party audio apps (i.e. Pro Tools, Digital Performer, Reason, etc.) in an iChat session.
Under Tiger, I use a special concoction of Soundflower from Cycling74 (virtual audio mixer) and Audio Hijack Pro from Rougue Amoeba to route other application audio as input in iChat. It works but it's not pretty in terms of setting everything up. I can monitor everything in my USB headset save for my own voice input but everything can be recorded in case I want to produce a podcast or save for other purposes.
If iChat in Leopard can essentially route any audio output on your Mac into iChat, this will be great for the kinds of collaborative audio projects I like to do.
Thanks for any input you can provide.

Joe ~ Since iWeb can't import HTML pages, one suggestion is to publish your current sites to the same iDisk space iWeb uses by following the instructions in this Apple doc:
MobileMe: How to publish a custom website
...This would put your sites in Web > Sites folder and the URL would be:
    http://web.me.com/membername/foldername/
Then you could remove your sites occupying the "HomePage" area, i.e. the Sites folder on iDisk.

  • I have a 3rd party "TPLink ADSL wireless" router controlling DHCP , Now require Airport Basestation and Timecapule to merely join the existing network. I know this was a work around once posted, but can't find it again? Help....

I have a 3rd party "TPLink ADSL wireless" router controlling Internet and DHCP , Now require my (Airport Basestation and Timecapule) to merely join the existing network. I know this can be done but it was a bit of a work around the automatic setup. The autmatic setup only offers (Create new/WDS/Extend) Does anyone know how to do it, or can point me to the post.
    Many thanks

Unfortunately, I need to connect both devices (Extreme and Timecapsule) via wireless. The ADSL router is not conveniently located to allow me to cable them directly. They are both being used to drive a bank of non networkable printers and external harddrives via the USB ports on each.
My frustration with myself is I had it setup, but failed to record for future, the trick in how to unhide the "join network option". I then had a failed firmware update from Apple and then needed to reset the routers and bang the settings were gone.
The Security setting is not an issue I know those I am using WPA2 personal.
I would be grateful for the wireless setup if you have it handy...
    Thanks do much
