Changing screen display ratios. Want as big as I can.

Hi, I am still using my first ever computer a imac 24 inch. It still works but thinking of getting something else. I seem to have grown addicted to the larger screen size. I use my girlfriends 13 inch laptop and it drives me crazy! Something as simple as reading a single page, pages document from top to bottom with out scrolling up and down has really appealed to me.
Question 1. Can I use the mini display out from the laptop amd connect to larger monitor and change the output screen size, so I can see a full page on the screen?
Question 2. Will the Mac mini display the same as a 27 or 24 inch imac, if I have a monitor big enough? What is the size of the screen display called, is it “display ratio”??? Thank you for any help.

Try:

4. In case any of the previous operations work but the settings don't "stick". There are two plists associated with the settings:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist
~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.XXXXX-XXXXXXX.plist
The first is global to all accounts while the second is in your home directory. The X's are a sequence of hyphaninated letters and numbers. If you can get these removed then it will probably revert to a default resolution.

How to change the display ratio of a video file in OSMF

Hi all
The video file I want to play has an incorrect width and height embedded in the video meta file (if you get the metadata of that video file, the width and height are incorrect). I'm now able to get the correct width and height, but I don't know how to apply them to OSMF. I'm using the MediaContainer for video display, the default behavior of that container keeps the original (which is incorrect) ratio (get from the video metadata) even I set the width and height. I'd appreciate if anyone can provide suggestion on how to do it.

You can modify the OSMF library's ScaleModeUtils class to do this, here's the path:
OSMF > org.osmf > layout > ScaleModeUtils.as .

Want screen display lighted all of the time---how can do ?

To change the Backlight setting go to Options -> Screen/Keyboard -> Backlight Timeout: 2min/90sec/1min/45sec/30sec/20sec/10sec (any of these values).

Windows explorer fill the rectangular monitor with web site content. Firefox does not. How do I change Firefox so it fills the rectangular screen and not a smaller square in the rectangular monitor?

You can use an extension to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages.

nice color, but my old G4 is stretching the desktop to make it fit.

What video card do you have on your PowerMac?
I had a similar problem when I got a Samsung SyncMaster LCD monitor, the video card on my Quicksilver (GeForce2 TwinView) didn't support the native resolution of the monitor (1440 x 900). so everything looked a bit funky.
Had to run this NVIDIA flasher, to finally get it to be able to use the newer widescreen resolution.
But, that was for the video card I have, unless you have that video card, do not execute the NVIDIA Flasher on your box.

Color LaserJet screen displays options in foreign language. Now can't read to get back to English.

I accidentally pushed a setting on my HP CP2025dn color printer which changed its language from English to something which does not even have words with an alphabet which I could translate. So I can't just push tabs and return the setting to English, since I can't read the options. I have tried reinstalling the printer driver, but this did not work. It seems I need to do something to the printer itself, but I can't figure out how to do anything when I can't read the screen.

Screen content image is too big. I can see very little of the screen content.I cannot enter my passcode.

iPhone 4s. 64GB. Recently installed iOS 8. The problem happened suddenly upon booting the phone. The screen content image is expanded way beyond the size of the screen. Therefore almost nothing is visible. It is possible to move different parts of the content into view, but this is very limited. Using fingers to try to shrink the screen content image does not work. I have tried booting by holding down the start button and the home button together. I still get the expanded screen content image. Finally, because of this problem I am unable to enter my passcode. Unfortunately I do not have a backup on my MacBook Air. iTunes will not recognize my iPhone because I have not entered the passcode.

It sounds like the Zoom feature may have been activated on your iPhone. I know the Zoom can be very frustrating when you cannot turn it off. Please follow the steps in the following article to disable the Zoom accessibility feature.

How do i change screen saver setting, it's on and i can't turn it off

ugh, can't view anything on the tv but the APPLE. voice says screen saver is "on" and i can't find any documentation about screen saver.

You'd need to enable/disable/setup under Settings menus.
If you can't get out of it unplug the unit and restart.
If still no joy you may need to restore the unit connected to iTunes computer using a microUSB cable.

I guess i updated to latest version of Firefox and now i have a bunch of crap at the top of the screen that i want to get rid of. can't find any way to do it. i want my old opening window.

Don't want "newspapers," "real estate," etc. at top of window. Unnecessary stuff. with previous version of Firefox it wasn't there. don't want it. no noticeable way to get rid of it.

Can I change the aspect ratio of existing projects?

Over the past few years, I created a number of iDVD projects of special occasions. I guess the default aspect ration in the older versions of iDVD was 4:3. I now have a widescreen TV and would like to view these videos in 16:9 mode. The TV can change aspect ratios but it distorts the video. Is there a relatively easy was to redo IDVD projects to change the aspect ratio to widescreen?

Depends on your goals here. You can duplicate what your widescreen TV and do fairly easily but you would still end up with screen distortion if you use the entire 4:3 display area. It is is also reasonably easy to crop your 4:3 aspect to a 16:9 area within the 4:3 viewing area and burn this to a DVD. While this would prevent distortion, part of your viewing area would be lost and the result would be the same as using the the "Zoom" display on your widescreen TV. A third option might be to select a 16:9 viewing area within the original 4:3 display area. Unfortunately, this would would normally require an advanced editing application or cropping and scaling either as a whole or in selected segments. In either case it requires a much greater effort on the part of the user.
In short, actually changing an aspect ratio from is original aspect is either easy but causes distortion or it is difficult and time consuming. Further, in either case you are merely duplicating what your TV can already do. If you don't want distortion, use 16:9 "sourced" (either original or cropped) content. If you want to reduce the distortion (and your particular TV has the option), use the "Justify" viewing option which applies little or no distortion at the center of the viewing area and most distorion towards the left-right edges of the screen. Otherwise learn to live with the distortion and decide whether you prefer the distortion being applied to the DVD or just on the viewing screen.

I am having trouble changing custom aspect ratio in lightroom 5. I can change it in 3 but it doesnt work in 5?

Custom aspect ratios are just that, ratios. There is no size involved. You control size in the print module or in the export dialogue. There is no provision in Lightroom itself to change the size of the image. Lightroom imports the image taken by the camera and displays all the pixels. Any sizing that you want done is enter your control using either Lightroom features. The original image size cannot be changed.

Photoshop CS6 start screen displays circles

My Photoshop CS6 start screen displays circles around its rectangular shape. Can anyone tell me why?
I am using version 13.0.4 x64 on Macintosh OSX 10.9.2

I was a bit confused myself, because the splash screen with the circles was not something I recognized, but a quick look round revealed the screen above is for CS6 Standard. The alternative screen turns out to be for the Extended version, and since it is only the serial number that differentiates between Standard and Extended, both splash screens must be on your drive somewhere.

Why did the Share dialogue change from display in a frame to not displayed in a frame

Hello,
SharePoint 2013 via TFS install package which installed SharePoint Central Administration v4 and a default SharePoint team site. This is my system:
When I initially started working with my default SharePoint Team Site (SharePoint - 80) and clicked on SHARE, I was able to see the Share dialogue in a
popup frame. I added a single user to the site. I also stopped the site in order to start the Default Web site; I had to do that because I guess both sites are default installed
with the same port number. Then I stopped the Default Web site and restarted the default SharePoint Team Site. I have no idea if these steps are related, I just thought I should mention them.
I later noticed that the Share dialogue no longer appears in a pop-up. Instead I get the following:
Why did this change? Can I change it back? (It's not important to me to change back, I just want to know if I can). If not, why not?
I also notice that this dialogue in a new window behaves oddly. After I add a group or user and click Share, the new window returns to a blank page. I have to close that page and reopen the Share dialogue to add another entity. Is this
normal?

if you can recreate the issue. check what you see in event log and ULS logs.
also share fiddler \ httpwatch traces
