Changing screen lock without accessing control centre

My iphone 4 screen wont work at the bottom, I am not able to put space, or grammar in texts. I have tried to change the screen lock but I can't get to the control centre as I can't swipe it up. Is there another way to change this setting?

My issue is that I cannot swipe up, the bottom portion of my screen has stopped working, I am un able to put spaces in texts or switch between grammer and letters, so unfortunatley swiping up for control centre is not an option. So there is no other way to take off the portrait lock?
thanks
Sean

  • Can you use portrait orientation lock without the control centre on ios7

With regards to the question above does anyone know another way to lock the screen orientation without the use of the control centre (e.g. like the old way of double clicking the home button). The reason being is that I have a case that fits the screen perfectly so my fingers cannot get to the bottom of the screen to access the control centre. Many thanks in advance

According to page 23 of the user manual http://support.apple.com/manuals/ the only way to change the orientation is with the control enter

  • Accessing control centre.

Updated to iOs7. Finding my way around it. Now for some odd reason I cannot use 5fingers to close apps or access control centre in apps or even on home screen.......help!

Thanks for responding. I must have played around with settings and gestures weren't working. Reset settings and fixed it. Quite like closing apps down 2 or 3 at a time.........

  • E7 screen lock without screensaver or black screen...

Is there a way to lock the E7 screen lock without screensaver or black screen?
With the almost over-sensitive touch screen interface there is a constant danger of hitting a function by accident, therefore one must have the screen locked at all times. However, it would be important to see the home screen or the running application.
I use S2PuTTY for work and I need to see the screen, with or without backlight, not a clock display or blank screen. With S60 this was no problem, that's why I have an E72 for backup and SSH use. The E7 would be a better phone for this, if only it would show the contents of the screen while being screenlocked.
Any hacks or software for this? A transparent screensaver perhaps? Anyone..? This instant-blank screen was IMHO a stupid thing to copy from iPhone, especially when it won't even save any battery power because of the backlight and the clock display.

The only way would be extending the screen saver timeout to max 30 minutes (AFAIK).
E7 has an AMOLED display which does not have any backlight, so the less lit pixels on screen the less power it uses.
No, the timeout setting only adjusts the time it takes for an unlocked display to autolock. When it does, it goes black or clock. The same as turning the lock switch.
I need a touch screen with screen on and touch sensitivity off. It doesn't have to be forever, but say 10min at a time would be needed. I'm amazed that the UI designers have forgotten about the possible need to see what the phone is doing while safe from inadvertant touch input.
    (You're right about the AMOLED)

  • How can I disable screen lock without entering a passcode?

How can I disable screen lock without entering a passcode? I accidentally clicked on screen lock and I can't get out of it, and I didn't know I had a passcode, I even reset the ipod and it's still there. Any help??

    I'd try restoring through iTunes.

  • IPhone 5 screen locking without pressing the lock button

Recently my iPhone screen has started locking without pressing the button. It is like it is stuck but the button isn't even pushed down. It does it so often that it is hard to use my phone because it keeps locking the screen and then trying to turn off the phone. It wasn't so bad at first and I used the accessibility feature to lock my screen in case something was wrong with button. However, my friend was looking at my phone and pressed the lock button which made it start going crazy again. I can't turn my phone off either because it will automatically turn back on because the button is going off. It is almost like there is a ghost pressing my lock button constantly. That is the best way to describe it. I'm not sure if I am under warranty or not, I got the phone from Sprint in the beginning of June.

Make an appointment at the genius bar and have it looked at. It sounds like the power button is failing.

  • Changing Screen Lock Code

Having bought a used 5th Gen iPod from a store I discover that it already has a screen lock code set. Neither myself nor the store know what the existing code is for me to enter and thereby change the code.
Is there a way around this? Does a full restore also restore the code to factory settings so I can start anew?

Thank you, I did a restore anyway to solve other problems, but as it is still reloading the iTunes library I have yet to discover what happened to that code.

  • How can you turn the screen off without access to the power button and without using auto-lock?

We are using iPads that are locked down with Guided Access and secured within hard plastic mounts screwed down onto a countertop.  We can press the home button with a paperclip, but that's it.  We don't want to use auto-lock because there might be several hours where the terminals aren't used, but we don't want them to go to sleep during business hours, otherwise we'll have to grab a paper clip and turn them back on.  Also, if we set the auto-lock to several hours, then the iPads wouldn't be off for very long at night.  I want to turn them off when we close at night, but it's challenging to open the cases and lift the iPads out, so that's not a reasonable option.
    Any thoughts?

    Look for a new case.
There is varying opinions where it is best to power down electronics overnight or leave them on all the time to lengthen the life of a device.
I power down to save electricity at night.

  • Bypass screen lock without using password

When the iphone screen is locked you can use the camera (with new iOS5).  When you quit the camera, you have access to the iphone without using the password.
Which begs the question:  what good is the password?
Is there anyway to fix this?

Had another play this morning with this one and I don't think it is as bad as I thought.
I had mistakenly thought that if I switched the screen off using the power button that the phone would be locked and would therefore need a pass code entered to unlock it.   This isn't the case.  The pass code is only activated after a set amount of time (5 minutes in my case).    When the pass code is activated then I couldn't bypass the pass code screen in the way described above.
I still think it is a little confusing that when you go into the camera app from the lock screen and try and view pictures that it tells you the phone is locked and you need to unlock the phone, but if you hit the home button you get to the home screen with the phone unlocked (since it wasn't actually locked in the first place), but that is just a bit of misleading text rather than a security issue.
    Apologies for any confusion caused.

  • How to change AppleID password without access to security questions or rescue email?

    Hi,
I am curious how a friend managed to change his AppleID password via his iPhone without knowing the answers to the security questions or access to the rescue email. As someone else helped him with the process (not an Apple employee), he hasn't been able to explain it. I still haven't been able to figure how it was done. Wonder if anyone out here could shed some light, thanks!

    Hi there mokcl,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
If you forgot the answers to your Apple ID security questions
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6170
If you can't reset your security questions
Contact Apple Support in either of these circumstances:
You don't see the link to send a reset email, which means you don't have a rescue address.
You see the link to send a reset email, but you don't have access to email at the rescue address.
A temporary support PIN isn't usually required, but Apple may ask you to generate a PIN if your identity needs to be verified.

  • Change screen input in table control

    Hi Expert Abapers,
Hope everybody is in good health and state.
Well my problem is that i am taking data in itab in a table control and i want to display the data in it only.
only if we select and line and click modify, 2 fields of it should be enabled for writing.
here's the code but is not working,
    case OK_CODE.
    WHEN 'EDIT'.
    IF MARK = 'X'.
    LOOP AT SCREEN.
    IF SCREEN-NAME <> 'ITAB-CHQ_NO' OR SCREEN-NAME <> 'ITAB-DD_NO'.
    SCREEN-INPUT = '0'.
    MODIFY SCREEN.
    ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
    ENDIF.
    ENDCASE.
Pls suggest as to where am I wrong.
    Regards , Neetu

    Hi Neetu,
Try to assign fields to a group , the fields which u don't want to be editable keep
it in single group for eg, 'GP1'. And now write the code like this
    LOOP AT SCREEN.
    IF SCREEN-GROUP EQ 'GP1'
    SCREEN-INPUT = '0'.
    MODIFY SCREEN.
    ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.

  • Changing location settings without access to the iPod?

So, I'm trying to figure out if that is even possible...
Story is I used find my iPhone to find my lost ipod ofcourse. I had it set to send me an email... i didnt really think it through that that means they would see that I located it when it did connect. After that it seems whoever stole the ipod turned off the location settings. I can still tell when it's on and connected to the internet, when they saw a message of sound, how much battery is on and all that. So now I'm stuck and I think this would be the only way to really be able to recover it... Any help here?

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product
