Changing screen resolution and rotation more easily?

Hi!
I frequently switch between two screen configurations of my LCD: the standard 1024x768 and 768x1024 rotated in portrait mode. The switching process is somewhat tedious:
open sys preferences,
select 90° rotation -> Mac OS switches to 1024x768 rotated
(which my monitor doesn't support -> fuzzy display)
click OK to confirm new resolution
select 768x1024
click OK in dialog
click OK to confirm new resolution
I wish I could use the menu bar thing to switch resolutions, but it doesn't offer rotation. Even if I could eliminate the two-step resolution switching, it would save a lot of trouble. I've tried editing the plist file in /Library/Preferences, but my mini seems to ignore it.
Any suggestions?
thanks
Hendrik

I have not found anyway to resize the incoming screen, in iChat or the Built-in Screen Sharing app.

  • Problem to change screen resolution in MB Intel DG41 with video on board

    Hi, I need some help as soon as possible because this problem it´s make me difficult my job. I have installed the MAC OS Snow Leopard 10.6.2 in a Motherboard Intel DG41 with micro Core2Duo and video on board of this motherboard and don´t let me change screen resolution. I have a display of 22´ inches and the panel to change the screen resolution only mark 1024x768. I think the more likely it is that the system does not recognize me the drivers to this chipset of video. I searched everywhere on the internet but I have not found the solution.
    Thanks Fernando

    First of all sorry for my English is not very good. My PC is an Intel MotherBoard DG41 with onboard video and a micro Core2Duo. The system is MAC OS Snow Leopard 10.6.2.

  • Change Screen Resolution = Mouse Pointer Disappears!

    I am just moving to Arch from Ubuntu which i have used for several years. I am not a novice to linux, but I certainly don't know everything!
    I installed arch on my pc last night, an old athlon xp with a radeon 9700 pro. I was going to try out KDE so I followed the beginners guide and successfully set it up. It booted and all was fine. Well except it set my resolution to 1024x768 and I wanted it at 1280x1024 which the monitor handles and is what I used in Ubuntu. So I opened the utility in KDE, based on xrandr I believe, and saw the 1280x1024 resolution. I selected it and Applied and the pointer disappeared. I could move my mouse and see the effects of the pointer hovering over buttons and other fields. So I managed to restart the machine thinking that would fix it, nope, still no dice. So I reverted to 1024x768 and all is good, except I would like to get more on my screen....
    Also since I am more familiar with Gnome I thought I would remove kde and install gnome hoping it may make a difference. I successfully removed KDE and installed Gnome, went to change the resolution and had the same problem.
    I am not sure what other pertinent information I can give. I will do my best to feed information to get this working. Thanks in advance.
    Dave

    Same problem,  in a PC Atom N230 with Intel Chip 950, in new fresh Archlinux installation, but with last Gnome. After this, i have installed KDEmod 4.3.3 and the cursor show fine, only in Gnome cursor not show.
    Any idea?
    Edit:  Oh, there are other post about this mouse cursor bug, sorry:

  • Photoshop crashes when I change the roundness and rotation of brushes

    Photoshop SC4 64bit Vista.
    It appears to be very predictable crash that always happens within about 1 to 10 minutes every time after using brushes with different roundness and rotation.
    I usually paint with 100% round brushes with Shape and Other Dynamics checked and set to pen pressure and Photoshop never crashes. However recently I started to change the roundness and rotation of the brushes and Photoshop started to crash when I do that.
    So far the crashing occurs during painting when the brush palette is open and I start to change the roundness and rotation of the brush either interactively or by the sliders. It always crashes - sometimes right away, sometimes later. But as far as I have noticed it can't last more than about 10 minutes of active brush usage. The crash is a white screen with the clock spinning and when I click the Vista message comes saying that Photoshop stop responding and need to close. I also tried a few times to wait for hours to see if it will come back after the white screen but it never did.
    Have you experienced or heard of this and some fixes?

    Update to Photoshop 11.0.1.
    And make sure your video card driver is up to date (check NVidia or ATI web sites).

  • ZBook 14 - Can't change screen resolution after update

    After I installed some software updates the Laptop was suggesting me, my screen resolution went suddenly from 1900x1200 to 1200x720 after reboot, and it doesn't let me change it, not even to a smaller resolution. I am quite frustrated, because I will need the computer next week for visualization works and I really need the display working well.
    It doesn't let me change the resolution. The display and graphics drivers are up to date and working properly, according to the device manager. I made a system recovery, but that just made everything worse although the resolution thing worked again, I had to run a startup repair several times before my laptop would boot propery again. This didn't solve the issue, since the display drivers weren't working properly (videos were being visualized very poorly) and even after updating them the computer wouldn't start up again, so I had to made another system recovery and now I am back to the point where I can't change the resolution and is starting to be really frustrating.
    Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

  • Another feature to allow users to change screen resolution to HD for gaming

    I liked k3 Note, smartphone which is filled with lots of professional features. Can you add a control to change screen resolution to HD for games. Lots of people are there which are thinking that other phones' gpu are better and the Mali t760 m2 not so good.

    Hi
    In case someone else encounters the same problem, here is some more information.
    The high refresh rate is quite visible in Device Manager. It would refresh every one or two seconds. The cause seems to be a conflict between a Fingerprint software installed during the Task sequence and the Validity Sensors Drivers.
    I made a Scan for hardware change in Device manager and saw that a few devices were appearing as unknown. Right click, update drivers from local cache solved the problem.
    I cancelled install of the fingerprint software and did not encounter the problem anymore.

  • Change Screen Resolution or not Change Screen Resolution?

    I mean is it possible to change screen resolution with Java?
    I read some topics (not in this forum) that is impossible. I know there is a method to set at full screen a frame with the favourite resolution but does it effectively exist a method to set the screen with a favourite resolution?
    For example:
            frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            frame.setUndecorated(true);
            frame.setIgnoreRepaint(true);
            device.setFullScreenWindow(frame);
            if (displayMode != null && device.isDisplayChangeSupported()) {
                try {
                    device.setDisplayMode(displayMode);
                } catch (IllegalArgumentException iae) {
                    System.err.println("EX: " + iae);
            ...the device.setDisplayMode(displayMode) always throw me an exception: Invalid Display Mode (or something like that) with all permitted display modes (640by480, 800by600, 1024by768, etc...), with all permitted refresh rates, with all permitted color depths.
    Illuminate me please!
    Thanx in advance!

  • How to change Screen resolution

    Hi - I installed enterprise linux on VMware running on windows 7. The screen resolution show 800x600 which sucks. How can i change the screen resolution? thanks

    You need to install VMware Tools, which will allow the VM to have a better screen resolution and color depth, a gigabit network connection and intelligent memory management. Also set your monitor to a device that supports the higher resolution.

    Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

    Sorry to say reloading WebOS did not help this issue on my TP. contacted Support and was told to send it.Even sorrier to say that my TP is now lost. My tracking number reports it as delievered on Dec 5, but HP has no record of it.When I got back on Chat they  are now also telling me that my TP serial number is a EU model, even though my box clearly states HP Touchpad ,US, 1.20,32gb,Wifi.
    Not sure what that even has to do with it being lost now..if it is as they say and no warranty on it in US I just want it sent back.

  • Best screen resolution and output for CBT

    What would be the best screen resolution and output mode IYO for a CBT (Computer Based Training) program?  We would like to do either CD or online.  We are toying with either, so which do you think would be a better option for what Captivate is capable of?  Thanks!

    Nclarkats,
    While most of our employees have similar screen resolutions, a few have larger (or smaller) set ups and since we wish to avoid horizontal and vertical scroll bars; we publish with Captivate's 800 x 600 setting.  This allows us to get a bit larger imagery in place.
    Whatever you choose, try and pick something and stay consistent.  This is beneficial in the event you have to transfer slides between modules.
    Hope that helps.

  • Programmatically change screen orientation and/or resolution using VBA?

    We don't have VB.NET available and I was wondering if it is possible to create VBA code that would change:
    1) screen orientation (and maybe resolution)
    2) on a specific monitor (in a multiple monitor setup; we have two)
    The idea would be to put it into an Excel workbook and have the macro autorun then exit.
    I see examples for C#.Net but can't find any for VBA. Maybe it's not possible. Your comments are appreciated. Thanks.
    Note: ANY MS Office application can be used as long as it can be used via a shortcut on the desktop and run
    automatically. "One click and done" is the idea.

    Hi Dougmeister,
    I agree with Cindy that the VBA doesn't have function to achieve the goal. Also there is no function in Excel object for this requirement.
    The way we can achieve the goal is that using Windows API as Cindy motioned. And here is an helpful article talking about this topic:
    Office Talk: Working with VBA in the 32-bit and 64-bit Versions of Office 2010
    And about Windows API issue, I would suggest that you get more effective response from
    General Windows Desktop Development Issues forum.
    Hope it is helpful.

    Hello Doug,
    I believe you can use Windows API functions to get the job done.
    Anyway, the current forum is for Office Apps. I'd recommend asking VBA questions on the
    General Office Development  forum instead.
