Changing Script Editor Documents format

I hope I am in the right Forum---I recently purchased a Mac mini/Intel. I did not have AppleWorks migrated over from my iBook so when I first tried reading AppleWork files on the mini from my Zip drive they wouldn't read so I was experimenting with alternate applications such as Script Editor. Something happened!! All my Works files now are shown in Script Editor document format yet unable to open any of them. I have since migrated AppleWorks from my iBook but the only way to open any of these files now is to first open up AppleWorks application then open the newly formatted (formally AppleWorks) file. How do I get all my archived Works files reformatted back from Script Editor??

Hi, CABJR.
What I suspect happened is that you used the method outlined in "Mac OS X 10.4 Help: Changing the application that opens a document", selected Script Editor as the application, and used Change All.
See my "Resetting Launch Services" FAQ. In the section for Tiger begin with step 6, since in this case it's not optional.
Good luck!

  • I keep on getting the message 'AppleScript Editor cannot open files in the "AppleScript Editor Document" format' when I try download software?

    Is there a way to still download these programs?

    Firefox reports that it is my default browser. I changed the default browser to Chrome and then back to Firefox, in case that's what you meant by "redo." Right-clicking and picking Firefox in the Open With menu works, but double-clicking the file or just picking Open in the right-click menu does not.
    I don't know why this is. Could it be due to a version update? I've noticed that Google Notifier's "Go to Inbox" no longer opens up Gmail in Firefox either.

  • Problem opening a sheet music file on Script Editor

    I have sone sheet music files but when I try to open them I get an error message saying that the dictionary of the extension or application is not scriptable and then I get another message saying that the Script Editor cannot open files in the Script Editor Document format. I have no idea what that means. I think they're MUS files, if that helps at all. Thanks.

    Hi tracy,
    This forum is for discussion qnd questions regarding Apple's productivity application AppleWorks.
    Your question will have a better chance of a knowledgeable response in one of the other forums on this site, or on a forum elsewhere for the application that was used to create these files.
    The filename extension .mus is usually a Finale Music Score, created by one of the Finale Music family of applications. You can find out more about Finale using the link in this post.

  • A program which used to open in Classic now opens in Script Editor

    I am using an old web design program by Symantec called Visual Page 1.1.1. It has worked fine for several years, but yesterday I opened it and instead of opening in Classic, it tried to open in "Script Editor" in OSX. Classic never opened at all. I have tried reinstalling it but the same problem occured. I tried using "Open with" Classic on the Info page, but Classic is greyed out. Can anyone help? I am starting to import the pages into a new program (Freeway) but this will take forever. I would like to still be able to work with this program. Thanks for any assistance. (I called Symantec and the program is too old for them to help with.)

    And Get Info shows it as a Script Editor document ? rather than Classic Application ?
    I had this about a year ago, but for the life of me, I can't remember what I did to fix it. I may have posted here when I got desperate. A search in discussions for Script Editor and Classic may come up with something.

  • How to change the automatic character format in Message Editor?

    Hi experts,
    We use PI 7.31, AAE adapter in our scenario. When we use the message monitor in Adapter Engine, we choose one message and open it in Message editor, we can see the message payload with AUTO Character Format: Windows-1252.
    The problem is we have some CN characters and they cannot display in correct formats.
    So, is there any way to change the AUTO Character format?
    The other question is, can we see the message after mapping in java message monitor?

    Hi,
    The Quantity field which is used in sales order has a standard Data Type:QUAN

  • "Files" and other tabs not visible for document library after script editor webpart is added

    I created a document library and uploaded a few documents to ti.  On the ribbon, I could see both "Files" and "Library" tabs.  I then added a Script Editor webpart to this page because I needed to run some javascript on this
    page.  Now, when I go to that document library page (AllItems.aspx) then I don't see the Files and Library tab.  My guess is that this is because these tabs are context sensitive so they only appear when Sharepoint knows you're working with a document
    library and since now I have both the webpart that shows the document library and the Script editor webpart, that context is not there.  If I click somewhere on the page close to the actual list of documents, then the Files and Library tabs reappear since
    now Sharepoint knows that I'm working with a document library.  Is there any way aroudn this?  We don't want to have to ask our customer to click somewhere on the screen in order to get access to these tabs.  I'm not sure why Sharepoint would
    be confused by the Script editor webpart.  It is not visible so when the page is not in edit more, you can't even see that Script editor.  So, my question is: is there any way to:
    - either find some other way of using javascript on this page (maybe external javascript file with some link to it on the page?
    - or, some way to force the Fiels and Library tabs to be visible no matter what (i.e. despite having the Script editor webpart on the page).
    I also experienced this issue when I wanted to insert some customized text on the same page that had a document library.  For example, I created a document library and then on the AllItems.aspx page I inserted a content editor webpart so that I can
    show some text at the top.  That also caused the Files and Library tabs to disappear.
    thanks,

    Hi,
    I understand Files/Libraray tab disappear after you add web parts to a document library, once you click somewhere in library list, it will appear again.
    This is by design. As workaround, please try to use SharePoint Desginer to edit Allitems page of document library instead of using script web part.

  • Scaling text, pictures etc. when changing document format in InDesign

    Hi,
    I am making an example of a cookbook layout in InDesign. This is my first time working with the software and I made the document in a totally wrong format. I made a document in 200 x 260 cm, when I was suppose to make it in 200 x 260 mm (duhh).
    So my question is, is it possible to automaticly scale all my text, pictures etc when I change the document format to the correct one? Or do I have to do it all manually?
    Thanks for answers!

    If you've setup your document with margins and guides etc. then scaling it should be ok if you go to Layout>Layout Adjustment and turn this on.
    Then change the size of your document to the new size. You will have a bit of tidying up but it can work.
    Your other option to get you out of this now are to import the InDesign file into a new document at the right size. - http://indesignsecrets.com/zanelli-releases-multipageimporter-for-importing-both-pdf-and-i ndd-files.php
    Or you could request for your printers to resize it this once.
    But you should of course resize this to the correct size.

  • Development on SharePoint on-line using JavaScript in an Script Editor

    Hi,
    I’m doing a SharePoint development on SharePoint on-line using JavaScript in a Script Editor. I've changed the Calendar NewForm.aspx  in SharePoint designer and I should check the Start Date and End date and I should change the procedure of Save button.
    The problem is I cannot have the component ID’s. I even tried to create new components and rebuild the form but my script sometimes working and sometimes not working.
    I've also tried SharePoint Apps in Visual Studio 2013 and Napa but I have problems  accessing SP lists.
    Could you please advise me?

    Hi Sachin,
    Before I read you reply, I had a "Eureka" moment that I was about to write about.  I got my Javascipt to read my the value that was set in the Filterdropdown!  However, you somewhat burst my balloon with the revelation about how re-sizing
    window changes their size (i.e., Large to Medium, etc)?  It is true, my function does not work when I click the "restore down" icon on the upper right corner of my window, then it works again when I maximize the window.  That sucks : (
         Oh, well.  Thanks just the same!
    For what it is worth, here is the script I wrote:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <html>
    <head>
        <script language="javascript">
            //This function reads the digest using /contextinfo.
            function ShowAlert()
                alert(document.getElementById("Ribbon.ContextualTabs.MyWork.Home.Data-Large-2-1").textContent);
        </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    What filter am I set to?  Click the Button snd I will tell you... <input type="button" value="Button" onclick="ShowAlert()";/>
    </body>
    </html>

  • Changing script from CS2 to CS4

    Hi everyone!
    Having a bit of a problem (not to mention working against a deadline) with an old CS2 script created for a client. ESTK throws up an "Undefined is not an object" error.
    Below is the code that seems to be the culprit. ESTK stops on the line after the .place(), assuming here that it's because the .place() doesn't return a proper object or something like that (I hate when they change scripting around too much).
    Basically, what it does is placing an image into the first paragraph of a table cell. It then tries to set the dimensions to a "maximum" size and then fits the image proportionally to those dimensions.
    > tmpBild = "B0000843.jpg"; //temporary for testing
    newTable.rows[newTable.bodyRowCount-1].cells[4].contents = "\r";
    tmpPara = newTable.rows[newTable.bodyRowCount-1].cells[4].paragraphs.item(0);
    tmpPara.justification = Justification.centerAlign;
    tmpImg = tmpPara.place( PICBASE + tmpBild );
    tmpImg.parent.visibleBounds = ["0mm","0mm","38.236mm","38.236mm"];
    tmpImg.parent.geometricBounds = ["0mm","0mm","38.236mm","38.236mm"];
    tmpImg.fit( FitOptions.proportionally );
    tmpImg.parent.fit( FitOptions.frameToContent );
    tmpImg.parent.strokeColor = "Paper";
    tmpImg.parent.strokeAlignment = StrokeAlignment.centerAlignment;
    tmpImg.parent.strokeWeight = "5pt";
    tmpImg.parent.strokeType = app.strokeStyles.item("Thick - Thin");
    Can anybody help convert this so it works for InDesign CS4? In the meantime, I will try to take care of the rest of the script.
    Btw, I have/had a scripting
    b reference
    in PDF format for InDesign CS2, is there anywhere that I can download that for CS4, I know it was very helpful back then.

    What I ended up doing was create roughly enough pages in the document and create linked text frames on all pages, thus letting the table created in the first text frame flow as long as the document has enough pages. In the end processing, I then remove all the pages but the first one, effectively getting one page with one text frame containing all table contents.
    This was the only way I could find to get around this problem. No matter what I did, placing content into a table cell that was overflowing a text frame just didn't work.
    Here's the part where I create the pages (variable myMaxPages contains your estimated maximum number of pages). Please note in app.documents.add() that it is set to false to NOT open a window (speeds it up very slightly if you have a huge number of pages). You can remove the false and the myDocument.windows.add() statement if you don't want this or for debug purposes. The formatting mechanism on these forums seem broken, but the following code should be ok/readable once properly formatted.
    >myDocument = app.documents.add( false );
    with(myDocument) {
    for( i = 0; i < myMaxPages; i++ ) {
    myPage = pages.item(i);
    with(myPage) {
    if( i > 0 ) { myPrevFrame = myTextFrame; }
    myTextFrame = textFrames.add();
    with( myTextFrame ) {
    if( i == 0 ) {
    myTable = tables.add();
    with( myTable ) {
    bodyRowCount = 1;
    columnCount = 5;
    } else {
    if( i > 0 ) { previousTextFrame = myPrevFrame; }
    if( i < myMaxPages - 1 ) {
    pages.add();
    myDocument.windows.add();
    While fiddling with it, I also updated my image placement code a bit:
    > var myCell = myTable.rows[myTable.bodyRowCount-1].cells[4];
    myCell.contents = "\r";
    myCell.paragraphs.item(0).justification = Justification.centerAlign;
    var myRect = myCell.insertionPoints[0].textFrames.add();
    myRect.contentType = ContentType.unassigned;
    myRect.visibleBounds = ["0mm","0mm","38.236mm","38.236mm"];
    myRect.geometricBounds = ["0mm","0mm","38.236mm","38.236mm"];
    var myFile = File(PICBASE + tmpBild);
    if( myFile.exists ) {
    var myImage = myRect.place( myFile );
    myRect.fit( FitOptions.proportionally );
    myRect.fit( FitOptions.frameToContent );
    Maybe this helps someone, maybe it doesn't. Can't say that I'm happy with the behaviour of getting errors and being unable to place content in table cells that is overflowing out of a text frame, but I needed to solve it, and this is how I did it.
    Of course, if anyone else has a better solution to placing images into table cells that may be in the overflowing part of a text frame, go ahead and share with the rest of us, please.

  • Script Editor menu in OS 10.4.x

    Perhaps this has been mentioned before but I can't find any reference to it. The online Script Editor documentation talks about using scripts available in the Script Editor Scripts folder via the contextual menu popup to build scripts.
    This works fine for me as long as I use the contextual menu, but if I instead use the Script menu in the menu bar to run what I assume are exactly the same scripts, I get erratic results: some work as expected, some do nothing, some that require selections do not display their warning dialogs but instead act as if they did & I hit the "Help" button, etc. (A simple example: none of the "Dialogs" scripts place their script text into the frontmost script; the "Error Handlers" all do.)
    Anyone have any idea why this is? As near as I can tell from looking at the scripts, all are written about the same way, referencing the "front document" of Script Editor, so since some do insert their text, it doesn't seem to be that the Script Menu somehow changes the focus.
    I think some of the Scripts folders contain some scripts that haven't been updated for 10.4.x, but I don't think that is the problem, is it?

  • Calling Rss feed from Script Editor webpart

    I am trying to add this script to Script Editor webpart and this doesnt work. I dont see anything on webpart. Can anyone help me
    where I went wrong.
    <html>
    <head>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function()
    $.ajax(
    type:”GET”,
    url: "rssreader.com/englishfeeds.xml",
    datatype:”xml”,
    success:function(xml)
    $(xml).find(‘item’).each(function()
    Var Title=$(this).find(‘title’).text;
    Var link=$(this).find(‘link’).text;
    $(“body”).append(‘<div><span>’+Title’</span><span>’+Description’</span></div>’)
    error:function()
    Alert(‘Sorry Error occurred’);
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body></html>

    Not sure but somehow your quotes seems different then they should actually look.
    //Replace
    type:”GET”,
    //Replace With
    type:"GET",
    Do similar changes at other places as well both for double quotes as well as single quotes.
    Also, replace
    $(this).find(‘title’).text
    with
    $(this).find('title').text();
    Do similar change for link as well
    Also where you are appending the html, where are you getting the Description from ?? Also there is a missing + symbol after Title there.
    Do the above changes and see if that helps

  • Automator/Script Editor to function as a preset

    Is there a way to make either Automator or Script Editor function as a preset in Aperture? The action I would like to be able to do, once an image or images are selected, is to do an Auto Levels Adjustment followed by an Enhance preset, and then possibly a sharpening adjustment. These are three actions that comprise the majority of adjustments I do on run-of-the-mill images. Lift and stamp won't accomplish this because it applies the same (lifted) levels changes to subsequent images, no matter what the original levels were. I just want it to do a fresh-from-the-original auto levels each time. I guess I want a one-button quick-fix.
    Thanks, Bill

  • Epson SX218 doesn't print (client-error-document-format-not-supported)

    Hi there,
    I'm currently trying to figure out how to get my Epson Stylus SX 218 to work. Unfortunately, cups (or the printer or whatever causes my problems...) obviously just doesn't want me to get this to work.
    Here's what I've done so far:
    I installed everything as described in the CUPS wiki article (so ghostscript and all the foomatic-stuff is installed, usblp is NOT blacklisted, see why below)
    I installed epson-inkjet-printer-workforce-sx218 from AUR
    I started cups...
    Nothing worked (Printer not recognized, either with or without blacklisted usblp module...)
    I searched the forums for a solution
    I installed cups-usblp and reinstalled all the cups stuff
    Printer got recognized! Yay!
    So, now the printer is set up in cups using the avasys driver. But...
    It doesn't print!
    When I try to print a test page via the cups webinterface it keeps telling me

    The following packages are installed now:

    Please let me know if you should need other outputs, logfiles, etc. I appreciate any idea that could help me to get this damn thing to finally print something.
    Thank you very much!

    Hi Radhakrishnan,
    ORARRP doesn't actually do any printing itself. Via COM/Active-X, it calls the appropriate program that corresponds to the type of output, and then this program does the actual printing. For PDF, it calls Acrobat Reader to print the document. Acrobat Reader displays the printer dialog to let you choose which printer to use, and then when you click OK, Acrobat Reader prints the document and sends it to the printer.
    I expect that you'll find that when you use Acrobat Reader yourself on this machine it has exactly the same problems with this particular printer configuration. If so, you'll need to contact Adobe for further assistance.
    regards,
    Stewart
