Changing second gen to 3rd gen

how do i delete my ipod nano second gen info, and upload my 3rd gen
my 3rd gen isn't being recognized by anything on my computer, not by the hardware thing, microsoft, or itunes.
when i plug in my old ipod, the sync menu comes up and that whole list and what not, but nothing happens when i plug in my 3rd gen, isnt it suspossed to automatically give me new information and be able to sync music?
how do i delete the second gen nano from the computer so its space will be free and it will actually recognize my 3rd gen
?

Hi all, I've got some questions on the new model.
1. Does it supply 5.1 sound from Netflix? My current BR player does not and it aggrevates me!
Surprised your Blu Ray player won't give 5.1 sound - I would assume there's a setting to enable this somewhere over optical or in HDMI settings.
Fairly certain Netflix give 5.1 on compatible movies - I'll check.

2. Will It work with iTunes in the same way that my current one does? IOW, I've got music, photos, and various videos (mostly not originally from iTunes) and I can play them on the Apple TV.
It will stream compatible itunes content as well as the ATV1 did if not better (it had sync and stream modes).
These items are accessed under the Computers icon of the icon driven interface.
Photos is probably a bit less flexible but you can certainly stream them.

I do realize that absent it's own hard drive my iMac will be serving up the content wirelessly and that concerns me somewhat in terms of HD stress and possbile buffering issues.
I had this concern with my old iMac - in practice I wouldn't worry too much - but if it is a concern get a good capacity USB external drive and put your iTunes media there - I've long had my iTunes media on a non-boot drive.  Couple of ways to achieve this.

No, it works with the 3rd and 4th generation. Identifying iPod Models.

  • Minimum brightness on 4th gen vs 3rd gen

I was wondering if the 4th gen iPod touch has a lower minimum brightness than the 3rd gen iPod, since the screen has changed.
Could someone with both devices test this in the dark, using the same image (for example a white picture) to accurately compare?
Bonus points if you post a comparison photo
    Thanks!

When I held my 2nd gen next to a 4th gen in the Apple Store, the 4th gen on lowest brightness setting was less bright than my 2nd gen.
My wife liked that, as sometimes my 2nd gen is too bright if I'm reading in bed, and she is trying to sleep.

  • IPod Touch Model A1288 8GB is 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen?

Here are some links which says that iPod Model A1288 8GB is 3rd Gen. But Apple's site says that Model A1288 is 2nd Gen. Can anyone clarrify this for me.

A1288 is a 2nd generation. There is no 3rd generation of the 8gB iPod Touch.

  • Processor upgrade 2nd Gen to 3rd Gen. Help!

I have a pavilion DM4 2191us and I would like to upgrade try a dead laptop's i7 3rd gen processor on my hp so i can diagnose if the problem is truely the processor or not. I do not know if the i7 is compatible with my laptop. The dell website says that these could be the possible i7 models
    Intel® Core™ i7 (3940XM)
    Intel® Core™ i7 (3840QM, 3740QM, 3540M)
The socket i have is compatible with website you linked and all these processors are compatible with my socket (988b rPGA)  http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket%20G2%20(rPGA988B).html
This lady from intel suggests that you check if the bios is compatible with your cpu type https://communities.intel.com/thread/49613 How would I go about to do that?
    This question was solved.

    Here is the Service Manual:
    Manual
Page 1 has the compatible processors. No 3rd gen i7 is listed. The Intel HM65 chipset will support some 3rd generation i7 processors (see below) but you cannot assume that chipset support translates to support by the HP motherboard.
    i7-3517UE, L3 4 MB, Turbo 2.8 GHz
    i7-3555LE, L3 4 MB, Turbo 3.2 GHz
    i7-3610QE, L3 6 MB, Turbo 3.3 GHz
    i7-3612QE, L3 6 MB, Turbo 3.1 GHz
    i7-3615QE, L3 6 MB, Turbo 3.3 GHz
In fact, I do not recognize any of the listed processor as ever being used in an HP laptop. The other thing I will say is it is extremely unlikely if you are facing a no-post situation that the fault is the processor. Not impossible, but very unlikely. Beep codes are very unreliable. Almost certainly the issue is the motherboard, not the processor.

  • Exchange 2nd gen fo 3rd gen

I just bought a 2nd gen ipod about a month ago and I was wondering if I could bring it back to the store and exchange it for a 3rd gen

Why not? I have a second gen as well and it came on the day the new ones came out, which figures of course.

  • Are iTouch 2nd gen and 3rd gen the same/compatible??

I want to buy a new stereo for my car, that works with my iPod touch 3rd generation. The only problem is there isn't any that are compatible, but they are to the 2nd generation touch.
My question is will the ipod work with compatible 2nd gen stereos?
This is the Head unit i want http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/cde-102
and here is the wire that makes the head unit compatible with all the iPods except my 3rd generation http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/kce-433iv/
Will i be able to play ipod through the headunit, and charge it?

So my ipod should work with 2nd Gen appliances?
If your iPod is a 2nd gen, it is a 2nd gen.
I recommend you try it on a device before purchasing (or make sure the store has a full money back guarantee).

You can install the latest update if you like. Many apps will require the new update.

  • Swap 2nd gen for 3rd gen imac?

    Hey
I bought my lovely iMac about 20 days ago.
Can I swap it for the new one? Is there any way I can do that? As Apple have brought out a new one so soon after i bought mine?
I do love mine, and the new one doesn't seem immensely updated, but I was just wondering if it is possible to swap them...
    Cheers

Any possibility of doing this will need to be negotiated between you and the retailer you purchased the Mac from.

  • I have an original IPhone that can't connect to ITunes. I did a factory reset and restored to firmware version 3.1.3. Please note that both my ITouches (2nd and 3rd gen) sync to ITunes perfectly. However, the IPhone never connects. Thoughts?

OK, my original iphone has just completed a factory restore. It's connected to my laptop, and ITunes restored it to firmware 3.1.3. Now, I can't connect to the ITunes store. I get an error message every time stating connection timed out, or something to that effect. Well, both my IPod Touch 2nd gen and 3rd gen connect perfectly to ITunes, so I doubt it's related to proxy settings, firewalls, or anything of the sort (believe me, I've spend 15 hours researching this without an answer). So, is there a problem with the original iphone with version 3.1.3 syncing with ITunes version 10.5.1 (the most recent one)?
I would LOVE an answer as this is driving me crazy.
    Thanks.

Mine had a SIM in it. Originally, when I took out the SIM and tried to restore it with nothing in it, it wouldn't work without a SIM card. So ... I took the SIM that was in that phone previously, put it back in and completed the system restore. I then proceeded to go through the process with AT&T of adding a data plan, which I did, and then it successfully completed the system restore. However, now if I run diagnostics on it, it will not verify ITunes Store. If I try to connect to ITunes store, I'll get the network connection timed out error I referenced earlier in this thread. I'm considering jailbreaking it and putting on an earlier software version. Your thoughts?

  • I might have a 2nd gen iPod, but paid for a 3rd gen

Okay so i bought an ipod 3rd gen from Best Buy about 3 years ago, and lately i haven't been able to update it or download any new apps. My ipod version is apparently 4.2.1(8C148). Does that mean i was sold a 2nd gen for 3rd gen price?

If iTunes tells you it is up to date when you try to update the iPod, then yes it is a 2nd gen. Look on the back. How much storage does it have (8GB, 32GB, 64GB)?

  • IOS5 on ipod touch 3rd gen

    Hi!
I have an ipod touch 3rd gen (definately 3rd gen, can update to ios5), currently running 3.1.3 (yes old, I know)

it there anyone here with ipod 3rd gen and ios 5?
    thanks!!

Are you sure it is a 3G iPod?

What do you get when yu enter the SN here:

Do you have iTunes version 10.5 on the computer?
What model number is on the back of the iPod and what capacity?  3G iPods only cam in 32 and 64 GB capacities.

  • 3rd gen itouch. Can change music info on computer, but doesnt change on ipod

Recently bought 3rd gen ipod. Loaded music on it fine and can play fine. Problem is when I change the info on a song on my itunes account (to sort everything) the changes dont go into effect on my actual ipod. why wont the changes take effect on my ipod???

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • How do I rent SD movies on my 3rd Gen Apple TV?  I have changed the output resolution in Apple TV's setup to 720, but it didn't make any difference.

I returned my 14 month old 3rd Gen Apple TV to the Apple store today because it would no longer see my wireless network.  Apple said that because of this problem, it was still covered under warranty, and gave me a new one.  Took it home and went through all the setup screens.  Even downloaded the latest software update.  Everything else appears to be working fine, but I can't rent a movie in SD like I used to be able to.  Everything I've read says that the settings is where I change that, but the one setting that I did find and change, under audio and visual, made no difference.  What am I missing?
    Thanks!

This problem has been solved by me.  The settings under the Apple TV menu for audio/visual do adjust for the output to your screen either 1080 or 720, but don't have any effect on the iTunes purchases.
The solution is under the Apple TV menu option "iTunes Store".  There you can choose from 1080 HD, 720 HD or 720 SD.  Now my movie selections in iTunes do offer the SD option.

I am having same issue on my iPhone 5s. Whenever i am trying login to iCloud from my device setting it's asking for apple id password & every time showing incorrect password verification failed but in fact the password is correct.
When trying to restore my iPhone from my PC iTunes backup it's asking to turn off Find my iPhone from the device iCloud setting. When i am going to turn it off from device iCloud setting it's asking for apple id password then a notification showing "verification failed, the connection to iCloud timed out.
I never faced this on any other iOS version other than iOS 8/8.0.2
    Very disappointing iOS
