Changing sequence from 16:9 widescreen to anamorphic widescreen

I am working on a short video clip shot using 5D Mark II - 1080p. I am editing on FCP 7 and want to change my sequence from 16:9 to anamorphic widescreen without any distortion...anyway this can be done? All my raw files and transcoded file are 16:9.
Thanks
Sid

sure.  fcp will automatically adjust this when you edit a clip into the sequence, so after changes the sequence settings, simply edit a source clip at the end of the sequence.   Does it display correctly?  If so, select the clip, copy, and then select all the other clips in the sequence, hit option-v (paste attributes) and make sure just basic motion and distort are checked.  Should fix everything.  Then delete that clip you added at the end of the sequence.
Oh yeah, probably a good idea to duplicate your sequence before doing this, in case you make a mistake (or if I've made a mistake - nah, that wouldn't happen).
good luck.

  • How do I prevent a 16:9 sequence from being "super-widescreened" in DVD-SP?

I shot a project in 16:9 and edited in FCP4, which transferred to DVD Studio Pro just fine. I recently upgraded to FCP5, after which I added a sequence to the project. I must have got the initial settings for the new sequence wrong, since it comes out in DVDSP as "super-widescreen": narrower from top to bottom and stretched horizontally.
When I examine the sequence in FCP it looks fine -- but it turns out that this is because "anamorphic 16:9" is NOT checked in sequence settings (as it is for all the other sequences in the project). If I do check "anamorphic 16:9" in sequence settings, it looks "super-widescreened" in FCP too.
Even if I export the sequence to DVDSP as mpeg2 in 4:3, it still comes out squashed and stretched. Same thing if I create a new sequence in FCP with a 16:9 preset and copy all the clips from the original sequence.
Is there any way to get this sequence back to the right aspect ratio without starting all over from scratch?
    Many thanks in advance!

Is there any way to get this sequence back to the right aspect ratio without starting all over from scratch?
    Try this...
Alter your Sequence Settings and check the Anamorphic 16:9
Once you've done that, select all your clips in the Timeline (press Command-A)
Press Option-Command-V to bring up the Remove Attributes dialog. There, select Distort from the Video options, then click OK.
Your clips should now fill the 16:9 frame (unless there is some issue with the anamorphic flag at the clip level).
Also, please be aware that if you've created any freeze frames from the timeline, they will have to be re-created, the Remove Attributes trick doesn't work on them (since they were created as 4:3 frames).

  • Export changes sequence from 16:9 to 4:3

Editing Apple ProRes 422 with mts files converted to mp4.  When I export sequence to mov or mp4, the aspect ratio changes from 16:9 to 4:3 and the picture compresses.  I'm using Export>Quicktime Conversion. Is there a setting I can change to correct this?

Yes, I couldn't find a way to convert the .mts files to .mov and could only convert them to .mp4.  Appreciate your answer but not completely understanding it. So are you saying I should convert my sequence using Export>Quicktime Converter and change the settings to ProRes, or are you saying I should convert the source files to ProRes somehow?

  • Change Sequence from HD to NTSC after video build complete

Using Premiere Pro CS5 I inadvertently left the Sequence in HD format instead of changing back to NTSC.  I complete the whole video (48 minutes) but when I exported it I found myself with a small resolution  product about half the size it should be (400 MB instead of 800 MB).  My question: Is it possible to go into the video and change something so that when I export the timeline it comes out suitable for the standard youtube video.
    Thanks
    patlandy

    Thanks for responding Jeff,
The video comes from 18 individual movies from a cannon FS300 camera. Image size: 720 X 480, Frame Rate: 29:97, imported as .mod format and renamed to .ms2t so that Premiere Pro would recognize the clips.  The videos total 131 minutes, after editing I have 31 clips on the timeline totalling 48 minutes.
When I started the project I just clicked through the sequence page, forgetting that I had just experimented with some wide angle GoPro video and had set the sequence for a previous video to HDV 1080p30.  After importing and editing the 18 videos I exported the time line and discovered the size to be 49 minutes and only 340 MB.  Previous exports (this is number 8 in a 9 part series) to DV-NTSC_Stardard 48Khz yielded a 40 minute video that was 948 MB.
I'm trying to determine if I have to re-edit the whole project or if there is any way to salvage the 31 clips as DV-NTSC.
How would I copy the HDV sequence (31 clips) to a new (Sequence 2) HD-NTSC sequence?
    Thanks

  • How do you create a full frame sequence to change it from wide to full

How do you create a new full frame sequence to change it from wide to full screen to burn a dvd? I tried creating a new project and importing the current sequence, but it imports the entire project with all the individual clips on the timeline, what is the practical way of doing this?
    Thanks
    Elio

Create a new sequence using "full frame settings" and then nest the widescreen sequence in the new sequence. Now scale the nested sequence to your satisfaction.
You will also find links to many free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.

  • Downconverting HD to SD:  Change Sequence Settings or. Motion Tab ???

I'm working with 1080i DVCPro HD footage, which am editing in HD. The client wants me to deliver the project file with HD and SD sequences (with identical cuts) but SD Quicktime renders.
So the HD sequences are easy ... under Sequence Settings I have these specs, which allow me to edit the footage without having to render:
Frame Size 1280x 1080, Aspect Ratio HD (1280x1080)(16x9)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: HD (1280x1080) - Ananmorphic NOT checked
    Field Dominance: Upper (odd)
    Editing Timebase: 29.97
    Compressor: DVCPro HD 1080i60
SO ... the best way to downconvert to SD ... I'm figuring copying the HD sequences after the edits are done, and then changing Sequence Settings to these specs:
Frame Size: 720x480 NTSC DV (3:2)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC - CCIR 601 DV (720x480) - Anamorphic NOT checked
    Field Dominance: Lower (even)
    Editing Timebase: 29.97
    Compressor: DV/DVCPro NTSC
I'm not delivering Anamorphic; the SD renders will have letterboxing. BUT unless I tweek the footage's Motion settings, it still looks distorted. The footage looks the most normal after shrinking the Scale to 60% of original, and changing the Aspect Ratio to -60.
But I'm just eye-balling things ... is there a precise rule for downconverting this HD format to standard SD ?

Umm well OK I found the Advanced Format Conversion option in Compressor, and am testing that out now.
But for academics, let's just say I want to convert the sequences also ... as in, exporting normal SD Quicktimes directly from FCP's sequence without using compressor ... which Sequence Settings and Motion Settings would I change?

  • Error Message While Running Sequence from Planning and/or SmartView

Following error is thrown while running a sequence from either planning or smartview at a higher level.
"*An error occurred while running the specified calc script. Check the log for details*"
This is very weird because it does not happened with any of the following:
    1. Running same sequence from AAS at higher level
    2. Running at lower level entity either planning or smartview
    3. Running from Planning or smartview with split sequence at higher level
    4. Running each rule within the sequence from Planning or smartview
    What have we done?
    1. Checked every log file, Essbase, Planning, HBR - no error message is logged despite above statement.
    2. Recycled environment
    3. Stopped and restated DB and APP
    Other info:
    1. DB.log file is 1.2gb
    2. No meta data changes
    3. We could not able to replicate same in Q and Dev
    4. Looked at cache setting
    5. Sequence does not fail at the same place
    6. Recently updated calclockblockhigh to 15000 (restarted environment)
    Environment:
Planning suite: 9.3.0.1 with 9.3.1 APS.
We are going nuts and any feedback is greatly appreciated!

    Added environment section.

    Hi,
To start Planning as a foreground app, stop the Planning service and then go to Start - Programs - Hyperion Solutions - Hyperion Planning - Start Planning (Apache Tomcat).
Thats if you are using Tomcat of course. A DOS window should then pop.
What value did you enter for the HBR properties? Have you tried 960000 for both? Remember you need to restart the Planning services for changes to take effect.
Have you tried increasing some of the properties in the HBRServer.properties under Hyperion\AnalyticAdministrationServices such as:
    HBR.timeout
    Try setting it to 30000
The restart the AAS service for the changes to take effect.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to change sequence settings without CC 7.1 update?

Well, i was hoping that Adobe will release 7.1 update on October 15th, as promised on some websites. I don't recall, maybe it was Creative COW or any other.
That's why i have created 720p PRORES proxies for 9x multi-camera live performance shoot which lasts for 2 hours for lag free, fast editing.
I have sucessfully edited it and promised my clients that on October 16th they will get the whole show in 1080p, high quality.
So, there is no update yet, and yes, i can relink files to original 1080p, but the multicam sequence is capped to 720p and i simply can't find a way to change it's size.
The old fashion copy/paste way from one sequence to another does not work, since 720p sequence is linked to multicam edits. In CS6 i could edit ".prproj" file in text editor to change any properties (including sequence properties), but right now in CC, .prproj file contains binary data only, so i can't do it that way either.
Maybe someone knows any other way to change sequence settings right now, or what is the exact day for 7.1 release?
    Thank you!

    Hi Paolon!
You need to extract your .prproj using WinRAR to a text .prproj file, then use some text editor such as Notepad to search and replace sequence dimensions
For example find "1920" and replace it to "1280" if it looks like Īt belongs to a sequence definition.
I don't recall how it was called, maybe "VideoFrameRect" or something similar.
First create some very simple project to experiment with, and always make a backup copy in case something goes wrong

  • Changing sequence aspect ratio in FCP

My Video/Audio settings were NTSC DV 48k
I had wide screen SD clips in bins of my project
When creating a new sequence and dropping 16X9 SD clip FCP would open a dialogue box asking me:
"For best performance your sequence and external video should be set to the format of the clips you are editing" Change sequence settings to match the clip settings? NO / YES"
I would choose "NO" and have my wide clips letter boxed in 4:3 sequence (I figured it would play on 4:3 TVs with no issues)
However, now I want to change the edited sequence settings from letter boxed 4:3 to wide 16:9, so that the sequence would match the wide native size of the original footage. Any attempt to change sequence setting results in stretched image inside 16X9 canvas window (or the wide screen sequence)
what should I do to have the image conform to sequence's change setting from 4:3 letter boxed to native 16X9

    Captain or Michael,
I am stuck with how to pick sequence attributes best suited to mixing standard DV in 4:3 and assets from a SD camcorder in 16:9. Is there a sequence attribute for this? I want the result to vertically letterbox (may not be the right term) the brief bit of 4:3 clips, but have the QT export be 16:9. I am sure I must have a mental block about this, but I have only thus far edited HD 16:9 clips within a single project, and 4:3 exclusively in others.
By the way, I imported the 16:9 clips into an iMovie 09 project, and then added the 4:3 clips, and iMovie 09 seems to crop the tops and bottoms of the 4:3 clips to fill the screen -- not what I really want by preference, but might do on this little quickie project.

  • Is it possible to select multiple clips and create a sequence from each individually?

Is it possible to select multiple clips and create a sequence from each individually?  If you select multiple clips and select "New Sequence from Clip" it puts all of the clips into one sequence.  Is there an easy way to quickly perform this on multiple selected clips separately?

So now I *have* used Butler with PPro, and it works very well, here's an idea of how to do it:
    Import folder of clips
Ensure first clip selected in bin and sorted by Media Type
Most of these commands need shortcuts assigning - mine listed below
    Macro:
To create seq from selected clip:
      ‘New seq from clip’ (Shift+CMD+N)
    To duplicate this seq:
‘Reveal Sequence in project’ (Shift+F) - not strictly necessary as it will already be selected
      ‘Window | Project’ (CMD+9)
      ‘Edit | Duplicate’ (Shift+CMD+/)
    To rename the duplicate
      ‘Enter’
Various keystrokes to rename as required
‘Enter’ - to make name stick
‘Shift+Enter’ - to reselect that sequence
‘Esc’ - to get out of editing name
    To change resolution of duplicate:
      ‘Sequence Settings’ (CMD+5)
‘Tab’ x 3 (to get to H Frame Size)
      ‘xxxx’ (to enter frame width)
‘Tab’ x 1 (to get to V Frame Size)
      ‘yyyy’ (to enter frame height
‘Enter’ x 2 as prompt will say previews will have to be deleted
To then find next clip ready for macro to run again:
      ‘Open in Timeline’ (Shift+CMD+O)
      ‘Match Frame’ (Shift+Spacebar)
      ‘Reveal in Project’ (Shift+CMD+F)
      ‘Window | Project’ (CMD+9)
‘Down Arrow’ - to select next clip
I tried it with Butler (manytricks.com - free trial, $20 to buy) and it worked a treat, takes about 3 secs per clip
AHK (for windows) is at autohotkeys.com and is free.
You could start making multiple macros - that would enable you to do grade / resize in middle of duplication - and then export etc, but I figure you can figure that out ;-)

  • Changing databases from MS SQL Express to MySQL in a  Report at runtime

    Hi all,
I have an issue in changing databases from MS SQL Express to MYSQL or vice versa in a Report at runtime.
    Here is what I do:
I create a very simple report with the Crystal Report Designer 2008 V 12.3.0.601.
This report uses a stored procedure to retrieve it's data. I connect to the Database with JDBC.
I have two Databases with similar schema and procedures: MS SQL Express an MySQL.
When I create the report with MSSQL all parameters have the '@' character, as they are named. ok.
I deploy this report in a JSP application with the crystaldecisions SDK an show it in html viewer format.
The connection to the MSSQL DB gets established by my JSP and the CRJavaHelper.
I pass the parameters through my URL to the JSP and finally to the CRJavaHelper (addDiscreteParameterValue)
    and everything works fine.
The challenge starts, when I try to change the Datasource of this report to MySQL at runtime (which is a requirement in my project).
I successfully can establish the DBConnection, but my stored procedure just doesn't get called!
The report just displays totally empty, no Exceptions etc. are thrown. In the DB logfile I see the effort to find my procedure
and that's all. The Statements called by the SDK finds the correct Procedure, but there's no call to the procedure.
Of course I know, that MS SQL names it's procedures slightly different (';1' at the end), but even when I rename the table Alias to the correct name in CRHelperJava, I get no call to the procedure in MySQL. I also renamed the parameter-fields in changeDataSource(..) by casting the table to IProcedure and working on its methods. Still no success.
What am I missing to do or what do I do wrong?
    Any suggestions or even solutions?
    Best Regards,
    Tom

  • How To... Execute Planning Functions and Sequences from MS Office Ribbon

    Dear all,
I am working with a SAP how to paper, which is called:
How To... Execute Planning Functions and Sequences from MS Office Ribbon.
It is working absolutely fine and I am pretty satisfied, but as you probably know "Control the visibility of a button based on the visibility of a related crosstab: the  button just disappears once the related crosstab is not located on the active sheet."
This means, when I insert different queries in different crosstabs, only one crosstab will have my own created ribbon. Is it also possible to set another specific ribbon with other buttons for another crosstab? Can I change the macro, included in the appendix of the how to paper, regarding this issue?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards
    Dominik Drebinger

    Hey Martin,
thanks for your reply, but I solved the problem on my own. Unfortunately my colleague did not see that the crosstabs had to be defined differently.
    Like this:
    Label
    Screentip
    Msolmage name
    Crosstab name
    Copy Initial Aligned
    Copy Initial Aligned
    CacheListData
    SAPCrosstab1
    Copy Initial Aligned
    Copy Initial Aligned
    CacheListData
    SAPCrosstab3
    Copy Initial Aligned
    Copy Initial Aligned
    CacheListData
    SAPCrosstab5
The macro, provided by the HowTo, is therefore working perfectly fine.
    Thanks though

  • Oracle sequence from JSP

    Hi,
I have to generate sequence numbers in Oracle and access it through my JSP page. For that i
created a sequnce in Oracle as:
    create sequence trans_no increment by 1 start with 1 maxvalue 10000 minvalue 1;
and in my JSP page, the following code is given:
    ResultSet resultSet=db.executeQuery("select trans_no.nextval from dual");
    resultSet.next();
    int transaction_no=resultSet.getInt("trans_no");
where db is my bean. But it is giving error. Is my code wrong? Please help.
    Suman, Kochi

There is a mistake in mapping for ResultSet with the query you executed.
You have to modify either the query as
    ResultSet resultSet=db.executeQuery("select trans_no trans_no.nextval from dual");
or have to change retreival from ResultSet to
    int transaction_no=resultSet.getInt(1);
    This should work now.
    Try this and see...

  • Error reading the standard sequence from the document tables

    Hi PM Experts,
    Please help!
Recently SAP patching is carried out in our R/3 environments. Before patching, all our customized RFCs were working correctly.
We are using BAPI ''BAPI_ALM_ORDER_GET_DETAIL'  in a RFC.  After the patching, the version date  of  the BAPI ''BAPI_ALM_ORDER_GET_DETAIL'   is changed to new date of patching.
Now, when we are calling the customized RFC,  ''BAPI_ALM_ORDER_GET_DETAIL'  is returning an error  'Error reading the standard sequence from the document tables'.
This comes when we are pasiing any order with Order type 'ZM02' ( Maintenance Order - Preventative). It is working absolutely fine with Order Type ZM01(Maintenance Order - In Hours Opex).
Sometime, when RFC is run individually, it works fine with same data and sometime it is throwing this error with the same data. Very Inconsistent.
Please advice whether patching is the reason.
    Any advice..is welcomed.
    Many Thanks,
    Rohit

We found that the flow of the code(RFC) was making a situation  where even correct order id was passed to this BAPI, the result was an error 'Error reading the standard sequence from the document tables'. we reverted the RFC to it's earlier version. now that problem is not there.

  • SAP Patch :'Error reading the standard sequence from the document tables

    Hi Experts,
    Please help!
    Many Thanks,
    Rohit
