Changing settings for DNS Servers?

I need to enter some DNS settings in order to use certain programs on the network. On a Windowz machine, these settings are entered into an area called DNS suffixes.
I go to Network and try to enter the names into DNS Servers, though it is only allowing me to enter certain characters. For example, it will not let me enter a "l" or a "p." Why is this?

The only thing you can enter for DNS servers is the actual IP address in the form: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, e.g., 192.0.100.40

Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten passcode:

I had this problem on an IMac and I finally found a solution in an unlikely place. The problem was a security setting. I don't remember right this moment the exact setting and I am not on that machine right now but when I am I will try to retrace my steps to the fix. In the meantime check your security settings and any browser or browser extensions for computer log off settings. These settings are intended to prevent unauthorized use and incidentally screw up your backups. Hope this helps.

Hi Arti,
In cProjects the authorizations can be managed either by authorization profile administration by system administrator for General authorizations or by Project specific authorizations for individual cProjects elements by Project owner.
Try the first one and I hope you will get the solution.

IronPort ESA best practice for DNS servers?

Is there a best practice for what servers should be used for the Cisco IronPort DNS servers?
Currently when I check our configuration, we have set it to "Use these DNS servers" and the first two are our domain controllers and last two are Google DNS.
Is there a best practice way of doing this? I'm thinking of selecting the "Use the Internet's Root DNS Servers" option as I can't really see an advantage of using internal DC's.

Best practice is to use Internet Root DNS Servers and define specific dns servers for any domain that you need to give different answers for. Since internal mail delivery is controlled by smtproutes using internal dns servers is normally not required.
If you must use internal dns servers I recommend servers dedicated to your Ironports and not just using servers that handle enterprise lookups as well. Ironports can place a very high load on dns servers because every outside connection results in multiple dns lookups. (forward, reverse, sbrs)
If you don't have enough dns horsepower you are susceptible to a DOS attack either through accident or design. If the Ironports overload your internal dns servers it can impact your entire enterprise.

Change settings for synching

Here is my problem:
When I synched my iPod for the first time using iTunes 7, it erased all my watched tv shows.
In the iPod screen during synching, I noticed that the settings for TV shows says synch all unwatched shows. I want all checked TV shows to synch. I tried to change the settings, and when I click on apply, I then get a message that it is searching for my iPod, and eventually it says it can't find the iPod and can't update the settings. When I disconnect the iPod, the iPod screen goes away, and I can't reset the settings.
Any idea how I can change the settings so that it will work.

I should note that I have unchecked "automatically install new apps" and applied, and it didn't change anything. I can still only go from "install" to "will install" and from "remove" to "will remove." No control over what I have on the ipad and what I don't waste space on.

Is it possible to change settings for an existing sequence?

I am cutting a short "crowd-sourced" class play, shot by parents. I have 4 different types of footage from 4 cameras: Two are 720p (30p), one is a 640x480 .mov and the other was shot in 720p but burned to a PAL DVD so they are .VOB file rips at 25fps, 720 x 576 w/1.2 widescreen.The main camera is an .MTS file (AVCHD 720p)
Since I am planning on ultimately making widescreen NTSC DVD's, I sync'd the cameras in a widescreen-DV sequence, then nested that into a new widescreen-DV sequence and activated the multi-cam. I did all of my actual editing in the new muti-cam sequence - but now I am thinking that I should have started with an AVCHD 720p sequence to sync cameras and just maintained 720p thoughout - until exporting the MPEG-2 file for the DVD.
I can make a new 720p sequence and cut/paste everything from my timeline - but they would still be nested multi-cam cuts that link back to the original widescreen-DV sequenece I setup to sync the 4 cam views. I cannot seem to change the settings for the existing sequence - so is there maybe a workaround for what I am trying to do? Essentially, to trick the new 720p sequence (with all the actual multi-cam edits pasted into it) to linking to a new 720p sequence with the already sync'd cam footage pasted into it? And secondly, will it actually effect the quality of the final DVD output? I may also want to make a 720p web version for Vimeo if feasible...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have created the new 720p AVCHD and cut/pasted all of my edits. That is not the problem.
Almost of my edits (other than a few titles amd stil pics I added) are cuts from the original nested sequence called (4-CAM SYNC). It is a regular NTSC widescreen sequence. In this original sequence, I am scaling the the cameras down to fit the frame and sync'ing the four cameras. I am attempting to get this new sequence to link to a new 720p nested sequence that has my sync'd cam footage - to replace 4-CAM SYNC on the time, while still retaining all the edits I have made - I will just have to change some of my scaling settings in a few clips.
It sure would be easier if I could change the "Editing Mode" parameter under Sequence Settings...

Changing settings for users

I have locked down some (most of the users and do not allow them to set 'General Settings' for instance.
I now want to set some settings for them like 'Screen Locking' .... and there is no GUI in SAP where I can set this for other users (as manager).
However, these settings are in OUSR and it would be rather easy to use SQL to set the required data.
Is it 'common practice' to do this this way or is there any objection?

SAP will not support any database, which is inconsistent, due to
SQL-Queries, which modify datasets or the datastructure of the SAP
Business One Database. This includes any update-, delete- or
drop-statements executed via SQL-Server Tools or via the the query
interface of SAP Business One.
This is stated in the support contract between SAP and the SAP Business
Partner also.

VS 2013 - SQL Server Projects - Can I Change defaults for SQL Servers to use and the paths to DB-files?

Hi all,
when a create a SQL Server Project using "File > New ...", I find the following settings defaulted:
SQL Server is (local)\Version12.0 and
DefaultDataPath, DefaultFileprefix and the DefaultFilename(s) for MDFs and LDFs point to the Project directory.
Initial settings of file size and increments are also not settable but defaulted.
Because my projects have to verify performance by testing with large volume of data, we have to use a different SQL Server with files stored on that Server. The Project settings have a button to changes DB properties, but these are not part of that
dialog.
So I spent some fruitless hours in vain to find a way to change the project's connection to my development SQL Servers.
How to cope with that?

thanks for Your response. I have to apologize for being a little late with my answer. I'll try to clarify my case more precisely:
This is surely a topic related to VS2013 handling new "SQL Server Database Projects". When one clicks "OK" the following steps are executed by VS2013 (surely controlled by standard templates or the like):
VS2013 creates the new project in a selectable directory and uses the projectname as a subdirectory whre the directory elements (*.sqlproj, bin\, obj\) where later all the *.sql are placed, too. This is normal and expected.
VS2013 creates a new database with its DB-files
and attaches it to "(localdb)\ProjectsV12". The name of the database is the name of the project. The path to the DB-files (*.mdf and ldf) and their sizes are also defaulted to small values. The DB-server and the
path to the DB-files is taken from the registry (!) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\SSDT\LocalDbDatabaseFilePaths. I don't know when and by what tools these values are set.
The path to DB-Files is typically also the path to the projects. The (local)-server places all system database files in the User\<user-ID>\Appdata\.. tree. Which is OK for small databases. The templates extracts some data from the DB-file path and
places it in the deployment SQLs to populate the SQLCMD variables DefaultDataPath, DefaultFileprefix and the DefaultFilename(s) which are generated when pressing "Executed" or "Debug" the project.
My problem is that we have to test database performance with larger volumes of data (e.g. two million rows and more). These cannot be stored in the User-path but must be handled by some kind of professional DB-Manager on various storage devices. When everything
is tested, the publishing function of VS2013 will extract the structure and you are done incl. all the performance taming things.
The dialog from the project properties can change to a different Server, but that server does not know your project database. The server and the DB-Files should be specified by the developer before VS2013 creates the database.
So the right forum would be a forum, where people developing SQL Server solutions with VS2013 are reading the questions.

Startup.properties settings for managed servers

We are using WLS 9.2 MP3 on Solaris 10 (SPARC).
I have built a few test systems in an attempt to document configurations and noticed my managed servers on the systems start up with a different "weblogic.management.server" setting in the log files. This setting appears in the <domain>/servers/<server name>/data/nodemanager/start.properties file as "AdminURL=http:\://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\:7001"
Each system was built and rebuilt using the same settings. Each system has multiple interfaces. One system has an entry of AdminURL=http:\://192.168.100.100\:7001 and another system has an entry of AdminURL=http:\://10.10.10.100\:7001 even though each system was built just like the other.
Every time I manually change the adminURL setting it gets reset on each server restart (which I expected). I have not specified (that I know of) the IP address or interface of the admin server anywhere in the "server start" settings. I also notice the admin server is starting on all interfaces on the system (not sure if this is good/bad/indifferent).
Can anyone tell me where the startup.properties file entries are pulled from?
As a followup: I just noticed (after my post) a slight difference between my systems. One has a fiber connection whereas the others do not. When I execute 'ifconfig -a' I see the interfaces/IP's in different orders (because the interfaces are named differently). I also noticed a wlsifconfig.sh script in one of the startup files. It almost appears as though the wlsifconfig.sh script is setting the AdminURL value and is pulling it from the last interface it finds in the ifconfig listing?????

Unable to load embedded PDF - must change settings for all users

Hello. We recently updated to Adobe Reader X on our three terminal servers. Since the update we have found that a lot of our users are having an issue loading PDF's that are embedded in web sites.
They access different websites that have such features and the PDF must be displayed in the browswer for it to load correctly. Anyways, I have properly found what settings to adjust in Adobe Reader, my issue is that I need these settings adjusted for all 50 something employees and I really don't want to log into each user account and change the settings.
The settings that must be adjusted are as follows:
Edit > Preferences > General > Uncheck Enable Protected Mode at Startup
Edit > Preferences > Internet > Uncheck Display in Read Mode by Default
Edit > Preferences > Internet > Uncheck Allow fast web view
Edit > Preferences > Internet > Uncheck Allow speculative downloading in the background
I have found the registry files for the Protected Mode startup and Display in Read Mode, but am unable to find the other two registry settings. Does anyone have any idea where those might be? Or if you have a better suggestion on how to deploy Adobe with these settings already configured? I have looked in the Customization Tool but was unable to find all the settings there as well. Hi Chris. Thanks, for the suggestions re: my email issues. They were helpful and yes I did check all items you referenced. I even contacted Apple support and spent about 40 minutes on phone checking all settings. However, after all these efforts, my mail and calendar issues were not resolved. Apple Support finally recommended deleting the mail account and then reloading it - and it worked! I am now receiving my emails and calendar appts. in real time again.
Just wanted to share this in case anyone elest has a similar problem with mail/calendar after downloaing i.O.S. 8.1 onto iPhone 5.

I've managed to change all lxterminal's appearance with this:

The problem is I want that to apply for only 1 lxterminal window, not every lxterminal.
In other words I would need to change the lxterminal class name when started.
I tried that with --name gtk command line option:
lxterminal --name=root_teminal -t root_teminal
But no luck. Any ideas?

You can set this in the mms.cfg file, which is a system-wide config file for the Flash Player. Information is available in the Adobe Flash Player Administration Guide for Flash Player | Adobe Developer Connection. Information for using the mms.cfg file begins on page 24 and a/v hardware settings that an be modified are described on page 27.
